And now it's Sunday

And it is still May! I was cold all day yesterday. Such gloomy.skies. We finally had a nice rain shower early this morning.
I have seen nothing of hummingbirds at my feeders. My daughter, on her patio,f. Haas a hummer nesting so very tiny and cute. Her nest is up high right under the roof so quite safe.

Morning Lynn and All, a gloomy Sunday and a t-storm just passed by. We really needed the rain. Number two daughter just planted her garden so she’s happy. Son-in-law made one of his famous Sunday morning breakfast so I’m happy. lol I got a video from youngest great grandson thanking me for his birthday present, which made me very happy. I also got pictures of his visit to dig land of him, wearing his hard hat and best riding in a big digger with a big grin so he was happy. That’s all my news from the Eastern shore of Maryland. Have a great day and be safe.

We seem to be having the same cool gloomy weather here. I gave in and turned the heat back on. It is so easy to just push that little button. I remember growing up we had a coal stove brrr! My Granny still had one when I lived with her after high school. She punished me for going out to what she called 'dens of iniquity' by shaking the ashes out of the stove right outside my bedroom which had no door, very early in the morning. The sound of metal clanging against metal especially with a bit of a hangover is a sound one remembers! Today I am fighting ants in the kitchen. I found them in the candy drawer. I put down pieces of paper towels along their path and will keep them sprayed with a solution of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water. It's worked before in another room so hoping for another success.

It's been busy lately..
Son, daughter-in-law & kids stayed here Thursday night while their current house was tented for termite treatment. I've had the kids before but never the whole family. It was interesting to see how they work their morning rituals - up, eat, get dressed, brush teeth, find jackets/sweaters & out the door. My son pretty much ran the show, while DIL started her work-day online. He got up about 45 min earlier than the kids to start his workday. Even with the parents here, I was exhausted when they finally left. Then I went to their house to tend to the kids while DS & DIL went out Saturday night. I don't know how they do it.

My son is my Financial Planner/Advisor. He started his own company about 6 years ago after working at a couple other firms. During Covid he posted videos frequently discussing things I was worried or concerned about. I just found a video he had on his company's website about himself. Turns out he got interested in investing in 4th grade from a homework assignment. I had no idea. I guess being a single mom working full-time with 2 kids at home & finishing my college degree at the same time, I was just happy that he was doing his homework. Sad that I didn't have time to learn about what his interests were - outside of playing on a premier soccer team. I think that's why I cherish the time I have now with these grandkids.

Barbie, bummer that the dove did his business on your fan. - yuck!
Lyn, always good seeing your posts - it is May grey already. I love it - too much sun drives me nuts. I also look forward to June gloom.. I don't need to turn on the heat, but I do close windows as needed.
Sue, While I have my kids here, I still hate asking them to take care of Sadie. I know they have their hands full with the kids & activities, so I just try not to plan any overnight trips. My ex will take care of her when I go to KS for a family reunion in August. Boarding her costs a small future.

OK, time to get busy again...
Later...

I left Zion a day early and am now at Bryce--not to see the park, but to get someone at the Sinclair gas station here to check my engine, air filter, and whatever to figure out why it is occasionally overheating. Basically, it is only doing it on hot days when I am going up a long steep grade. It has happened about 4 times in the last month, and I have had to turn the AC off and turn the heater on to cool it off. It was fine today, even climbing hills from Zion, but today was chilly.

In fact, it has been sprinkling off and on all day, both here and at Zion. About half an hour ago, I even heard thunder and it rained really hard. They desperately need rain here since it has been a drought for almost a year with almost no rain at all. It is supposed to rain again tomorrow, maybe half an inch worth?

Not even CoachNet could find someone to work on my vehicle in St. George or Hurricane, so I called this place. It is just a gas station at Ruby's, but I have had them fix things before--about 6 years ago they put in all new sparkplugs. It is first come, first served, so I will be at their garage doors tomorrow morning at 8 am. The Bryce Shuttle leaves directly in front of their business, so I will entertain myself riding around and dodging the raindrops.

Sounds like you all made real progress! How much is left? Big job I am sure but nice that you had so much help.
