Inauguration/Martin Luther King Day

Good Morni g n this cold winter day n northern Michgan. Currently it’s 3° with a windchill of -14°. About an inch of fresh snow out there.

Been up since O’dark thirty. Carpet installation day. All ready for them. My guest bedroom and office stuff is all stored in the guest bathroom and my bedroom stuff is in my bathroom and some in the kitchen. Have to leave some room in my bathroom of course. Just case a girls gotta do what girls gotta do  Dog beds are in the living room. So the house is basically upended  Dogs are not happy. Just got an email stating installation tine is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., changed from 10-3. No problem. Once I hear from the installer, then I will go out and shovels the pathway to the porch and the step. Whether the drive gets done, remains to be seen. Will probably spend the time they are here watching the inauguration doings or work on my DP.

Karen, I’m doing same thing you and Judy are. Gettng rid of a few things here and there. II’m pretty well minimized as it is. Since everything’s out of the rooms and it’s cold outside, good time for spring cleaning. Other than my bed and nightstand, nothing has to go back in that quick. Guest bedroom just got a fresh coat of paint, so that’s all set.

Guess I’ll go get washed up, out of Jammie’s into my daily duds and relax and wait for the call. Have a nice day everyone.

Hi Sue and all that check in!

Sue, holy crap, it's COLD where you are! You'll have that bedroom looking new when it's done today.

It was 46 degrees in central FL when I got up, when I left for my morning walk, it was 44 degrees and 30 minutes ago, the temperature had dropped to 40 ! With the wind chill, and it is quite breezy, it is cold, but not as cold as Sue or lots of you others.

We did some grocery shopping this morning at a fairly new Publix. It was crazy busy!! Not sure if that was because some are off for the Martin Luther King holiday or if it's always like that, but I was glad when we were done and out of there. We're having friends over on Wednesday for our monthly visit and Steve will make steak teriyaki in his wok, and I'll prepare a couple sides, appetizers for before the meal and will make a chocolate cream pie for dessert. It's been awhile since we've had the steak teriyaki, so I'm looking forward to it. We make the marinade ourselves and let the meat sit in that overnight.

Stay warm and safe.

Good frosty morning. Was 30 out this morning........brrr Our high will be 47 wahoo But there is no fog and no rain today. Actually the sun is coming out so will open my window shades and let some of that sunshine in. Sue you are prepared for the cold weather those people in the south surely are not. I am prepared but just dont like it when it is so cold. Colder tomorrow down to 25 but high will be 50 so hopefully the sun will shine again.

Judy I dont have pancakes very often just so much easier for me to buy a bottle. Besides I am too lazy to do it. I like cooking much better so will stick to that. Going to make a sugar free chocolate pie this afternoon. Need to cook my pie shell before I end up in peak electric time LOL Also finish my laundry.
Irmi I love terriyaki anything. I make terriyaki chicken bowls once in a while and made stir fry the other day and used my terriyaki sauce, was good.

Continuing to sort things out and rearrange and get rid of some stuff. Nothing major. Watching the Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix, I like that show. It is a little quirky but it is easy watching. Bunco on Wednesday again then off until February. Glad we only play twice a month, that is doable for me. Think I will hop in the shower, get dressed and keep on keeping on.

Irmi, Holly Crap it's cold is a good description. It's not nearly as cold as Sue has but too cold for me. It got down to 28 last night and is up to 42. They keep saying we will have snow in the morning. My cats went out and most made a u-turn and came back in. I need to go out with Luna but don't want to. My neighbor called this morning to see if I had electricity because they were out. Thank goodness I did. An hour later the Slemco truck was at their house.

Some of the outside cats spent the night on the porch. I don't know why they won't go in the old house. Even when it's freezing outside it's 50 degrees in there. I put their food in there this morning so maybe they will get the idea.

A minus 20 at 6 am, still minus 8 which will be our high. A typical old fashioned January day. Mondays are my bill paying and check book balancing day so I am in the back room doing that. When the wind blows from the nw this room is a little drafty but I have a heater at my feet. We tore out the old plaster and insulated the rest of the house but this room and the living room did not get done and so at our age we just live with the chill. Extra lap robes and afghans help when reading or doing crafts. I love old houses and just put up with its quirks. After I get done here I am going to bake a cherry cake. The recipe uses frozen sweetened tart cherries and a can of cherry pie filling. Tonight I hope to finish the red truck dp and make progress on the fall scene. Now back to work and pay some bills.. Keep warm

Good evening!

A few hours ago, the wind picked up and is blowing ferociously! I checked the weather app and it says the winds are 10 mph. They are more like 40 mph! I was sitting on the couch a little while ago and heard a big crash that shook the trailer! :o I grabbed a flashlight and ran outside to see what happened. I checked all over and didn't see anything that might have hit the trailer, or anything amiss, but I did smell propane again when I walked past the propane tanks. So I turned the tank off and got my fireplace cranked up. I hope nothing on the roof blew off!

The temps tonight will be down to about 35* so not freezing but I wrapped my water filter in a pool noodle and taped it on, since tomorrow night will probably be below freezing. I got a new water hose that is supposed to be good to below zero. I sure hope I can figure out what is wrong with my propane tank again. :? Will have to get the neighbor guy over here to check it out tomorrow. Hoping we don't lose electricity tonight from the high winds!

Got a few things done today but need to really get busy tomorrow. I have one week to get this place cleaned up and looking nice. David's friend, Ray, is coming to visit next Tuesday and will be here for at least 2 weeks. Then my other brother and his wife are coming down from MN for 4 days on Feb 3rd, Then a friend of mine from CA is coming out here on the 13th of Feb and staying with me thru that weekend. She wants to go to the Gem and Mineral Show out here, and also do some hiking and sight-seeing. Then there is the Gourd Festival on January 29th and 30th, so I will be really busy for several weeks! Need to get everything looking good beforehand.

Cats are both curled up next to me right now. I think the winds are scaring them. I can't find my phone. I think one of the cats is laying on it but I don't want to disturb them. Don't need it right now anyways.

Hope everyone stays warm and cozy thru this crazy weather all over.

High today was 46, and low tonight is supposed to be 28. Had to go out and dump tanks at dump station, then drove up to visitor center to see if they had new t-shirts. Nothing new so left. When I got back I put water in my water tank and got set up again.

I have my dump handles and electric plug attachment in an enclosed and heated outside compartment where I store my sewer hose when not using it. But, a couple of years ago, I decided I did not like the heat from my rear furnace going to waste in there because I wanted it in my bedroom and bathroom. So, I taped the duct shut with a lot of duck tape. Problem is that there are two holes in floor of compartment. One is small, has a door to close it, and supposed to be for electrical plug and cord, but newer plug is too big to fit, so I have been just leaving compartment door open. Larger hole is for sewer hose, but have not worried about that hole because have not been in such cold weather. So, was trying to figure what to do, and it struck me that I could put electrical cord and plug in sewer hose hole, which i did. Then I covered the hole with a chunk of plastic that I wrapped in a couple of rags, and kept in place with the sewer hose which i am not using right now! Yea.

So now I was able to close and lock the compartment door, but in the cold and dark, I then had to struggle to tear off all the tape or at least half of it from the furnace duct. Not easy and really cold because it is also windy here, Barbie!!! But got it done. I should have put the remote thermometer in that space, but no way was I going to go back outside to do that, so it will have to do overnight. whew! Going to have to refill propane in a couple of days or so. Got my two small electrical heaters going as well as front furnace.

Sure wish it would warm up soon.

I saw my neighbor across from me get in his truck and he parked in front of the park model next door. I went out to see what was going on. They have a huge canopy gazebo, like party sized, next to their RV. Well, it is pretty much shredded! I guess he moved his truck because the material from the canopy was hitting the truck.

The wind is not calming down at all! I just heard another crash that sounded like it was on the roof! I will have to climb the ladder tomorrow and see what happened up there! I hope my AC didn't blow off! The trailer is rocking pretty good now! A little unnerving! I had been wishing I had a tree on my lot. Now I am glad I don't.

They are saying we are getting 45 to 55 mph gusts and will continue all day tomorrow. Oh joy! I guess I will be working on inside stuff all day.
