A Visit to Niagara Falls, NY USA

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Sun Jul 26, 2009 10:29 am

Day 2: After a breakfast of pancakes and lots of coffee for the adults, we packed everyone up in the car and headed north to Niagara Falls, NY....We arrived safely and parked in the parking garage cause Lot #1 was full....had our lunch in the garage, then off we went.

First stop was the Visitor's Center and the Observation Deck where we got a great view of all 3 falls. American Falls, Bridal Falls, and the famous Horseshoe Falls which connects to Canada.

Took a nice photo of our DS's Family.

(GS was to antzy to stand still for this one, hence he's off to the left of the photo.)
Then the boys decided they wanted to go down by the falls to have a look.
Here the are coming back to the "dry" viewing area.

Very Wet Guys after their hike....

Then it was off to Goat Island. We all rode the Trolley (GD called it the Train... ;)

Grammy viewing the Horseshoe Falls.

Maid of the Mist in the mist....No we didn't ride...

And the "Point of No Return" Rapids....heading for the American Falls. Here you have 4 minutes to get to dry land before going over.

We headed back to the campground, had a great Pasta supper, and then the Gkids all decided that they need to have their pictures taken with Petula. What fun!!! ;)

Buddy got into the act, too!!!

Yesterday was spent at a family reunion here in the area, but I won't bore you with group photos, eating lots of food, and petting farm animals at my sister's farm. The kids and Gkids left this morning, heading home....we sure did have a great time on our Family Vacation.

Another great vacation day with more wonderful pictures! I can't belive Petula is that big! For some reason, I had supposed she was about the size of my Molly dog! Grandkids show her size!

Thanks, Lori!

Great pictures Lori
looked like a fun day....how far were you from the falls. our gs used to love to see water falls (he is now 12 and he doesn't admit it as much) and would rate the falls depending upon size that is a baby or a mommie or ...........his mom told him one day she would take him to the granddaddy of waterfalls. they haven't made it yet but hopefully will one day...
thanks for including us on your day

Great pictures, Lori, thanks! Niagara Falls is still on my list...have never been there. Yep, I didn't realize Petula was that big, either. She's stunning, all lit up with her palm tree.

What a great family that you have and what great pictures. Thank you for sharing your family get together. Hope you and husband get your rest....I know you were busy this weekend. I too laughed when I saw the group sleep-in. It would not have worked for me....I am an early bird and the rest of my family are night owls.

I love the newest addition to your family.

I keep showing my husband all the pictures of this group(you and Liz and Nasoosie and Cedar)....he is talking about moving to the RV world. He realizes that this is my dream. We bike all over but he knows that I don't want to tent camp anymore. He also had a horrible wreck in early June and is laid up with a broken leg but he is looking at fulfilling both our dreams (new bike for him and RV for me)BTW he is very lucky and the wreck was not his fault...a drunk driver took out 3 of 10 motorcycles and killed one of his friends. He literally had no where to go. And I am thankful to have him around.

Have a great rest of the summer. And that goes for everyone here.

Wow, Lucy----so glad your husband was where he was in the group of cycles. A broken leg is painful and difficult to live with, but living is good!

Would be great if he decided to get your RV as well as a new bike for himself! Hope to meet you down the road someplace before too long!

Great pictures of family and falls. I never got there until a couple of years ago. And I was born in Jamestown, NY. In those days a trip to Buffalo was considered a weekend outing!
Still want to ride the Maid of the Mist.

Hi Lori, your pictures brought back a lot of memories for me. I lived in Toronto for about 5 yrs and always took visitors to see the Falls. It just had to be seen. They are just as grand from the Canadian side. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Linda

Great photos and family there. Love how Petula shows up too. Shouldn't be difficult to find you site even in a crowd.
