Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday, November 16

Good afternoon! Another cold, windy and gloomy day for me. My leaf guy still hasn’t been able to get back to finish up with the leaf cleanup because of this darn wind. Right now we’re just playing it by ear and hoping for a day with calmer winds. I know he wants to finish but at this point I’m just grateful for what he already hauled off. Little by little I can probably finish by bagging them and hauling in the back of my car. A few bags at a time. As I said the ongoing saga!
I’m having to go back to the start with Buddy and the treadmill. For some reason he’s decided he doesn’t want to go on it and walk. I’ve tried adjusting the speed and time but he’ll go just fine for a couple of minutes and then either just stop which stops the belt or he’ll try to jump off. So I’m back to leashing him and using treats…sparingly since I don’t want to have to feed him treats all the time. He definitely is stubborn.
Tina, how’s the possible puppy situation? Carol, so sorry about Bill’s setback. Hope the professionals are able to get him back to better health soon. Karen, hope you get to see the king tide. That sounds like quite an experience. My friend snowbirding at Myrtle Beach keeps bragging about the lovely weather they’re having. They’ve been trying for years to get me down there for a visit but don’t think it’s going to happen any time soon. My house isn’t that easy to walk away from in the winter. Plus the weather between here and there. There are times the snowstorms hit Virginia pretty hard and I don’t want to be trying to drive Lola on treated roads. At least with the car I can take it to the car wash and get the undercarriage cleaned off. Don’t have that option around here for the rv.
Well, time to get Buddy fed and think about what I’m going to have for dinner. And time to close the blinds, already dark. Keeps getting earlier and earlier. Hope you all have a good rest of your weekend.

Good Evening, It has been a sunny but windy day here, temps in the low 60's s. I know how you feel Sharon when you say your back at the beginning with Buddy and the treadmill. Last week when Pippa and I were out a neighbor stopped to talk and she reached down all of a sudden to pet Pip who was in her stroller and it terrified her. So today when I had her out there were a few people walking from their cars to a party at a neighbors and Pippa was so scared she was trembling.
I had to take Toby to the vet this morning for a Bordetella shot and that was an adventure. He's old and grumpy and did not want to jump into the van, I told him I was old and grumpy too and try again. We made it there and back with no blood shed.

Hi Sharon! I've had a blah day today, just not doing much of anything. That said I did take my car to the best car wash I've ever been to today, with very reasonable prices. So my car looks acceptable for the first time since getting here. I made a quick stop at Walmart for a pickup order and meant to get a couple things done since that gave me the right tools to do them, but my blahs settled in after I got home and not much happened the rest of the day. I did get TY out a few times as the weather is nice.

BJ, TY doesn't like jumping onto the bed in the tt. So I was picking him up at bedtime. Last year he jumped up so I kept figuring he get it again. And he finally has. Most of the time now he's jumping up again, but sometimes he gets down during the night and I wake up to him making runs to the bed, sometimes jumping up and sometimes not jumping. After a few of those not jumps last night I got up and lifted him up. Moments later he was under the covers curled up against me for the rest of the night.

Lyn, can you tell us what paper you were looking at when you saw the tide photos, and maybe even which section? I'd like to see them too.

Have been worried for a couple of days about driving south from Eugene, across the mountains in both Oregon and California near their joint border. There can be snow and chains required. If there is snow, I will do an immediate exit or U-turn!!! I got my medical stuff done, but was supposed to stay there tonight, but last night I looked at the weather forecasts for several places along my route on I-5, and saw a big rain front coming through late today and rain for several days. So, this morning at 8 am, I was in bed, opened the blinds, and saw clear skies, and then checked radar and saw rain was still on track for early afternoon. Hopped out of bed, packed up and put slides in, and got on the road by 8:15 am, which is incredibly early for me.

Drove straight from Eugene without stopping until I got to casino near Canyonlands, got a fill-up for $2.99, and headed out again, not stopping until I got to Mt Shasta! It was a long drive, so I took a break, finally ate something, and made a reservation for two nights here in Redding. Drove 315 miles, when I really prefer something closer to 200 miles each day. Arrived at 4:10 pm, which is over 8 hours of almost constant driving. I am only about 190 miles from Napa, so might get there a couple of days early. Or try to find something closer to Napa. As I get older, I just like shorter driving days! Tomorrow I will catch up on laundry and sleep.

I have a ton of packages waiting for me at my son's house. Might be nice to be there a day early to get things done. I have ordered a bunch of stuff for my Ohio family and want to wrap and send a large package. In the past, I have done online shopping, but that ends up being a lot of wrapping for them. Plus want to wrap what I have for my Napa kids. I will be leaving for southern CA on Nov 27 and not getting back until Dec 20, so not much time then. Tonight, I am just relaxing. Whew! Anyway, temps are a bit higher here and humidity is a lot less. Stuff in a couple of my underneath storage areas is damp--wish I were in the desert to dry things out.

Beth, I don't remember how old your Ty is, but he may beginning to get arthritis (or some other kind of joint problem), which might be making it painful for him to jump up. I'm thinking this may be why he is making "attempts" but just can't quite seem able make the leap. If he is immediately getting "cozy" once you brought him up, he definitely wants to get up there - and maybe he just can't.

Shhhhhh (I don't anyone to think that I'm weird - LOL, but I guess I'm not the only one here that let's their dog get on the bed) but my Sweet Joe was having problems jumping onto the bed when I graduated to a bedframe instead of just the ol' mattress-and-box-springs on the floor thing.

My daughter and her husband gave me some attractive and sturdy wooden "stairs" (covered with carpet) that they had had for their cat, until their cat passed.

I think these came from Wayfair.com, and they look something like this (the photo makes them look really big, but they are really quite small - just large enough to get the job done - I love them):

Joe took one look at these and immediately ran up these "stairs". No coaxing or training needed - at all!! He instantly knew exactly what they were for. And he has been using them ever since without any problems at all, and it has been a few years now.

And, although these were originally intended for a small and short light-weight cat, and Joe is a large tall dog on the heavy side, they are very sturdy and work VERY well.

that is a good word blah I think I've had that more than not this week ... did get the floors mostly vacuumed today ... finished in the dining room partly not sure felt the vacuum do something different not sure if it was the belt or what but I quit I vacuum without wearing oxygen and had been without for long enough... I will deal with it another day ... read my scriptures and went to the store spent more than I should have... mom likes (I do as well) these grapefruit segments sometimes they are out so I tend to get two when I have a chance... so got two of them and then there is a candy I like and every so often they have large bags of them so splurged when I saw them and got two... had decided that I was going to get chicken and a jar or seasoning pkg of ticki marsala for supper the chicken was so aggravating don't know if it was cause it was a cheaper brand or what but you know that film? it wasn't removed and the white tendon for lack of a better term... was in each of the tenderloins so hard to remove and to cut through it was next to impossible and my knife is pretty good... I was so frustrated that I finally quit had almost enough chicken cut would have been better with more but it fed us and no leftovers... the rest of the chicken went into the freezer will deal with it later found a really pretty poinsettia usually I don't pick them up and then wish I had this time I did so it was one of the more unusual colors.. sort of a peach perhaps and sparkled...
I decided to start a Swedish Weave so had the "kid downstairs" put it into the washer hot water and then into the hottest drying cycle I asked him if he had put it into the dryer and he said he had I said it wasn't running so he goes down and brings if up saying it's not quite dry and he was going to hang it somewhere I told him I didn't want it that way the purpose was to shrink it if it was going to shrink ... he has his phone in his hand on and listening to it more that anything or anyone else...
finally remembered to call son in law to ask him about the heat mats that he uses outside they have one that is about the size of a welcome mat that they will give to us needs a cord but he is going to order it that way the right one gets ordered ... hopefully will get it set up before the ice builds up ...
think I am finished with the roses one fell apart before I finished stitching it so I will either need to remake it or forget it right now I'm all for forgetting it...
we did get a skiff of snow saw so cars that got more than that... so guess winter is on it's way
you all have a great day
