Happy to Hear

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy to Hear

I am so glad that you friends in Florida didn’t receive much damage. I have seen videos of the damage further north and it is horrendous! People lost relatives and homes destroyed.
We’re having interesting weather here. They say SD has the shortest thermometer in the country. Yesterday the high was 67 and the low was 61!
I canceled my UTube tv station when I moved. I now have Direct tv off my daughters account. I was plesantly surprised when I found several music stations I enjoy including the symphony!
I enjoy seeing the grands and greats more often than I was at the condo. I wish I had some of their energy!
I am really tired all the time. When I try to make the bed I must lay down between putting on each sheet!
I had to wait two months for my routine visit. With my cardiologist .
Next year I will call two months ptior to wanting the date I want!
I finally got my flu shot!
I was so used to going to the store on my scooter whenever I felt like it, now I must ask my daughter to drive me. I am having trouble with making a menu several days ahead of time.
Enough rambling, Lyn

Hi Lyn and all who follow. It’s raining here. Hopefully it will continue. We need a good ground soaker. Lyn, I don’t consider it grumbling, just Stating the events in your life now. Glad you found a favorite music station you like. And you sound happy being where you, despite a few inconveniences.

Shelia, hope you have a safe journey or May Ed you are home by bow. Nothing like Home Sweet Home. I keep thinking I should get away to the U.P. For a few days, but I am content here and really haven’t wanted to go anywhere other than day trips. Beth, hope your journey is going smoothly. Barbie, cat house is cute, hope he likes it. You got a a new phone awhile back I know. Which one did you get?
I’ve got to replace mine as its battery is going.

Fall color is really starting to appear. Hopefully in next couple of days, I can get out and drive around. Doesn’t matter if it’s cloudy. In fact trees show color better under cloudy skies as sunlight can diffuse the leaves. Dos and I just got back from a short walk. Quickie due to rain moving in. Maybe we can get another shortie later on. Shall see. Thty are off in dreamland right now, Zzzzz.

And I’m going to head for my kitchen table and resuming DPing. Have a nice afternoon.

Driving along the Columbia River and trees here are also showing some color. Fall is definitely here!

Stopped for a lunch break and a coke to put some caffeine into me, as I was getting really drowsy driving. I am not a coffee drinker, so I have to get my caffeine other ways. (Is that a good excuse to eat more chocolate?) Been talking with an old friend who is about my age and who had problems as i have been having with tiredness and being out of breath when walking. I know I have no cardiac problems, so am going to ask oncologist if blood numbers show anything, and if not, then am going to see a new doctor in Napa. I had an internist in Ohio, but she left for the East Coast three years ago, and they reassigned me to a family practitioner, which I don't think is what I need. Plus, I don't like to go into a waiting room with a bunch of sick kids. Anyway, friend mentioned that she found out she was iron deficient and has been taking an iron supplement for a year and feels much better and can walk farther without resting. I looked at the list of foods you are supposed to eat to get iron, and I eat few of them, plus I have not been eating a lot lately, so I am going to try an iron supplement and up my iron-rich foods a bit.

Worth a try, at least. Also got to get my flu shot soon. Got my COVID booster but postponed flu shot until closer to when I will be spending a lot of time with people.

Absolutely!!! :D It works for me!

Lynn, glad you are getting settled in nicely. There are always compromises when you move.

Didn't do much yesterday other than play on my phone and laptop. Today, I called Amazon about my missing phone and found out it was delivered back to them a couple days ago, altho it isn't showing a refund yet. She said to call later this week if I still don't see a refund for it. That phone was a Samsung, but the new one I have is a Motorola.

This morning I couldn't find Romeow. I checked everywhere in my bedroom, bathroom, and the other room next to mine. I asked my roommate if she had seen him at all. So I went looking thru the house calling him. I finally heard him meowing and followed it to the laundry room! He was stuck behind the dryer! He must have been out wandering around the house during the night (I had the cat door on the gate open) and then when Heather and Marley, the dog, got up this morning it scared him and he ran in there. Took some maneuvering with the washer and dryer to get a space wide enough for him to come out thru. We then left the door open and left him alone. Was about 10 seconds later, he came bolting out of there, across the kitchen, down the hall and into his safe little casita in the closet! Poor guy!

Today is still supposed to be in the mid 90's but then a big drop thru the week! Next Saturday will only be a high of 63* :o . Good thing I unpacked a couple of sweaters. So fall is coming in like a lion!

Was lazy this morning so I stayed in bed and watched the church service on-line. I need to get at least a couple things done today. Cleaning/organizing the bathroom is on the top of the list, as well as laundry. Not fun things but necessary.

My left shoulder joint is bothering me again. Probably from all the lifting and moving of stuff. Need to give it a rest.

Julie gave me a small shepard's hook and a hummingbird feeder to put outside my window for the cats to watch, but the ground out there is layered with rocks and I wasn't able to get the shepards hook in the ground. So now I am gonna try a bird bath with a solar fountain, instead. I already have a solar fountain and I ordered a small bird bath that should arrive on Tuesday. Will see how that works out. I can get a square paver from Lowes and put it on that after clearing some rocks away for a flatter surface.

OK, it is already 2pm so I better get started here...

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good afternoon. It is another gorgeous day here. I am loving it. Ya know sweatshirt in the morning, sleeveless shirt in the afternoon. Then sweatshirt again at night if outside. Just finished doing laundry and washing the floors. Picked the rest of my beets so I had to cook them up this morning. I do them in my Instant Pot, then put them in some cold water and the skins peel right off. I had a bowl for lunch ha ha butter and salt, YUM they are so good for you too. I will put the rest in the fridge to put on my salad or heat up with a meal. Today is my terriyaki chicken bowl dinner. I am anxious to use my rice cooker even tho I really didnt need one but hey it was almost free LOL LOL Took some salmon out for dinner tomorrow and will make a sheet pan of roasted veggies to go with it. I just had a small bowl of MY OWN strawberries with some whipped cream on them, they were super sweet. I thought they would be done but still have lots of green ones on the plants so we shall see.

This week most of my favorite shows start up again. I dont usually watch them at night and I cant watch them til the next day anyway streaming . I go to bed pretty early and read or watch something benign on the tv and then I am gone.

Lyn I try to make a menu out too each week. But I shoot for only 3 days. Then I can have leftovers or something else easy to make or that I have in my freezer. My go to is Peanut Butter on toast ha ha Beth is on the road, Sheila will be arriving home or is home. Irmi is back. Judy I have a few suggestions for you about your iron. Most women are a bit anemic anyway, especially pregnant ones. I will pm them to you. Barbie sounds like you are getting all settled. Glad Romeow was found and is ok. Hope you like your phone Barbie. I was a total Samsung kinda gal for years and never had good luck with Motorola but I am sure they make them better now. Now I have the Iphone and believe it or not I really do like it. I have been so anti Apple since my debaucle with the computer. I will not have a Mac computer but I am doing well with the Iphone, iwatch and tablet. So far so good.

Edited to add Once you receive your flu shot, it takes 2 weeks for your body to develop antibodies that provide protection.

Another nice day. Didn't do much. I cooked a thick ribeye steak in the slow cooker like a Mississippi Roast. It was good but a chuck roast is better because it has more fat.

Judy, I first found out I was anemic in my 20's when I was pregnant. I have found out over the years that if I am not taking vitamins with iron regularly I can't give blood because my iron is too low. Probably why I'm so slow. lol

Karen, I don't know that I have ever seen beets for sale other than the one's in a jar. I need to put a flu shot on my grocery list so I will remember when I'm at Walmart. My son had set me up with an Apple computer and I have had way fewer problems with it than the HP. When you had said you saw the Northern Lights a couple of my friends that live in North Louisiana had posted picture of the Northern Lights. I had to go out side and look but no luck. I have a bunch of trees and a neighbor with a bright yard light to my North.

I have a Meetup meal tomorrow night at a restaurant called the Dumpling Hour. I think it must be some kind of Chinese Restaurant. I need to look up the menu.

I also love beets, Karen, and used to grow them. Have you tried pickling them with vinegar, touch of sugar, and cloves? Yummy. Good just with butter, however.

A long time ago, I cat sat my Ohio son's Siamese. She was horrible!! I had a condo that was mostly on the second floor, but had my own stairwell and entrance, and she loved to walk on an overlook that would have meant an almost two-story fall. Plus, I had to block her from jumping on my desk, then on the top of a bookshelf unit, so she could leap up onto an architectural shelf about 10' from the floor! She also tried to get into my utility closet so she could explore behind my furnace and hot water heater, so I had to tape it shut with masking tape because she could open the folding doors. I was terrified she would get stuck, and I would have to have someone take my furnace apart!! Son came to pick her up and was surprised at all the cardboard and tape to prevent her exploring!!

I can't give blood because of my CLL, but way back in the 90s, I tried to give blood at our office. Donating was OK but every time they tried to sit me up over an hour's period, I would keep passing out. They tried giving me juice and cookies, but it took forever, and by this time I had an audience of coworkers worried about me! That was last attempt at donating blood.

Judy, you reminded me of Ming, a Siamese cat we had. They love to climb. He fell off the curtain rod over our bed, bounced off the headboard and landed on my head.

All the talk about food is making me hungry I have a French Butter with salt and caramel cookie that I nibble on through out the day along with pieces of pecans. I tend to snack quite a bit but pecans are good for you and the cookies are low in sugar, so I tell myself. I used to have a low blood count but several years ago I started baking/cooking a lot of food in cast iron and it was almost too high. I've also found that even though the doctors here seem to all do blood work, at least on old people, every six months. But for some reason you have to remind them to test for D which if low makes you tired along with other weird problems. I also ask for an A1C test once a year to see where my sugar levels are at. It does a check for I think the last 3 months. They always send the test results over something called My Chart. I go over them and then be sure the doctor addresses anything out of normal range at my appointment. Maybe it isn't like that everywhere but I've found it to be necessary here or else they don't look at it very well if at all. That and the fact that if they do an ultra sound or other types of ex rays it takes weeks to get a message from the doctor as to the results. Last time I had an ultra sound I finally sent the lab report to the homeopath I see on WhatsApp in Brazil who is also a medical doctor, for her to interpret for me. It was 5 weeks and I had to send two messages to get a reply from my doctor here!
Mornings are getting rather cool here and so far days very pleasant. It is my favorite time of the year.
