Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good chilly morning to you all. Frosty out there this morning. Temp is 33°. There is frost on neighbors garage roof and also on my front yard where there are no trees. So it has begun. There’s been frost on edges of neighbors garage a couple times before, but this is first time it’s been heavy enough to turn ground a bit white. The cooler days and cold nights have set the trees to turning color. Some. Beautiful trees starting to pop out. Looks a great color show coming up. And supposed to be in mid 70’s on Friday before crashing to 40’s by Monday. Looks like a rainy day Subday. Hope so. We are. Going to be time to go “leaf peeping” as we call it. Driving the roads and admiring the colorful scenery.

Did more than I thought I would yesterday. Cleaned bathroom and kitchen. This was the just give a cursory cleaning as did a thorough one last week. Did grocery shopping and gassed up truck. Decided since it turned out to be a nice day, to clean up the leaves in the front. Didn’t take long with the tractor. Left a pile if bagged leaves in my ine flowerbed to spread out after the last of my asiatic lilies die back. Then dogs and I went for a nice walk.

Watching latest in Milton, still Category 5. I know my neighbors are probably glued to the TV this morning. Thty are a mile in from the gulf but in the high surge area. Nothing to do but watch and wait. Since they have a park model, they can’t be insured. So whether they have a winter place will depend on the outcome. Irmi, glad you and Steve arrived safely in GA. I saw pictures of the freeway, but it’s good people are taking this seriously. Carol Lamphere and her family are tucked away in Montgomery, AL I think it is.

Thanks for the meatloaf tips Karen. Will do that. Barbie, keeping fingers crossed on possible RV sale. Glad you got a new phone and had it all set up. Saw the pictures you posted on FB. Beautiful area. Judy, after all the repairs to your MH, you are going to have a next to new one.

Not getting into anything here today as have a funeral to go to later this morning. Husband of one of the group I have coffee and donuts with passed away last week. Going to be big funeral. He was one of 19 kids, so big family. He was on Fire Dept. Here for 37 years and Chief for 11 of them, so is known by a lot of people. 89 years old. Had Parkinson’s.

So, guess I should get moving. Want to empty dryer, take a shower and wash my hair. Funeral is at 11, with visitation at 10 at the church.
Have a nice day and any in this storms path, stay safe,
Sue and the Furry Crew

Irmi and Steve, was thinking of you when I saw the pictures of the freeway crowded with the cars going north! Glad to hear you are safely settled for the next couple of days. Watched Gov deSantis make his serious speech.
Barbie, interesting story as alway! Judy, isn’t it amazing the things that get forgotten in the back of the cupboard!
Karen, I am jealous of you seeing the northern lights…I saw them in Alaska but one always want to see more. At least I would like to.
Good for you Judy putting your life story in papers for your G Kids. With I had some records from my Greats.

Sue, you reminded me of going trick n' treating wearing a snowsuit when I was small. Except, for some strange reason, in the 40s and 50s in the Detroit area, we went "begging" and shouted "Help the poor!" Apparently, this was something influenced by nearby Canada, but it went away in the late 60s.

I was awake in the middle of the night worrying about taxes on my aunt's estate, so I got up at 4 am and downloaded some papers, plus did some online research. Went back to bed about 5:30 am and slept in.

Also, yesterday, I got my big pink down comforter out from under my rig in a storage area and put it on my bed. It is so cozy and comfortable! Tossed my old bedspread I use in warm weather.

Hoping Milton is less dangerous than they predict....

Lyn…. You might get a recorder and narrate verbal stories…. I would think some of the Grands and your children would enjoy them….. and they can worry about putting the events in order and if the spelling is perfect. But the stories would be available to them.

Currently sitting in a Pilot Station off I64 just west of Charleston WV, waiting for Coach Net to rescue me and change a rear tire.’ At least I carry a full sized spare and the tire did last long enough for me to get off the interstate. On my way to my daughters for an overnight visit Thursday and the on tow state park east of Charlotte for a RoadTrek GTG. Tonight’s Cracker Barrel will still be waiting for me no matter how long it takes here….

Glad to hear that folks are removing themselves from harms way…. With the storm…be safe as you can….

Well apparently I never got around to submitting my original post. Update is that the grilled catfish at Cracker Barrel was delicious and the dogs and I are heading off to bed. It could be because the big service rest area off I 77 and I 64 at Beckley is closed… this is the most rigs I have seen in a Cracker Barrel. And one … sleeping in the car… traveled.

Good evening friends!

Lyn, I like Tina's idea about recording something for your grands. They would love that!

We had a quiet day in Richmond Hill. We enjoyed the continental breakfast this morning and went to Denny's for dinner. I was planning on ordering the chicken cobb salad, which is one of my favorites. But they were out of chicken breast and lettuce. They were also out of orange juice, but we learned that when someone else ordered that. I ordered a starter, chicken tenders. I was given many more than the description on the menu. Steve had the chicken fried steak with 2 sides which he said was good. The tenders were good, also. I have enough leftovers for a meal tomorrow.

A close friend that lives 1/2 an hour south of Tampa just told me they are being hit hard and their electric is flickering. My sister on the east coast is riding out the storm. I will be in contact with friends in the morning to see how our resort made out.

I'm watching the dodos standing out in the hurricane on CNN.

I brought Frosty to the vet and he has a big abscess. The vet had to sedate him and clean it out. It was so big he put a drain and is going to keep him until Friday.

I made my mini meatloafs and they turned out good. I had picked up 3 pounds of organic ground beef at Sam's. I didn't have to drain any grease off the meatloaf.

I will try to get the truck to the shop tomorrow.

Tina, glad Coach Net got your tire changed and you made it to Cracker Barrel.

Good evening, I too have been watching all the fools standing out in the middle of the hurricane. Looks terrible for sure. Just thinking tho so far it isnt as bad as they thought it would be, altho it is still terrible.
Martha I had meatloaf mini's tonight too. Sure were good to just pop in the air fryer and reheat for 3 minutes. Tomorrow will be the wonderful meatloaf sandwich, one of my favorites. I still have bacon in the freezer and LOTS of tomatoes so I am all set for lunches. Also took some chicken thighs out and will pop them in the oven after marinaing them in terriyaki sauce overnight. I only bought one thing on Amazon Prime day and that was a rice cooker. It isnt fancy and was super cheap so we shall see how I like it. Will be here Friday. Tina glad you got your tire fixed. Irmi glad you are settled in for a few days as it looks pretty scary at your home areas.
Martha sorry about Frosty, I am sure he is not happy being away from home. Liz is in the "so far so good" area for now, lets hope it stays that way.
I am tired tonight, and not sure why, didnt do that much today but I could fall asleep right now and that would be BAD. So going to get up and move around for a bit.

Actually, I'm afraid to say it's not as bad as expected. I Just read about multiple fatalities from the pre-hurricane tornados. A lot to wait and see. I'm showing it's a category 2 now, but the rains are causing lots of flooding and so many without power. I'm so glad most people I know have gotten out of harms way. And I certainly hope no more follow Milton!

Tomorrow, early, I expect someone here to winterize the RV. I'm hoping to move it over to the storage area after that and get everything necessary there done... cover the tires, etc. I was going to clean the inside one last time, but it may or may not happen. My fridge is close to empty. I have a hamburger I'll cook tomorrow and a few spicy chicken strips I'll cook Friday. They won't be as good reheated in microwaves, but will save me from eating out dinner on the road. Cooking them first they'll stay good in my cooler. Whatever else is left in the fridge I'll try eating Friday.

I've made mini meat loaf in the past but it's been awhile. I might have to do it again. I'm not sure I have a muffin tin in Texas, but that I should be able to remedy quickly.

Thanks for the update, Irmi.

Looks like the eye of the hurricane is just now entering Tampa Bay (8:27 p.m. Pacific Time). I am watching the hurricane on Windy.com, this link shows the hurricane:

Hope everyone stays safe, and this thing turns out not to be as bad as everyone thought. It's going to be a bumpy night.
