Sunday Morning, 10/6/24

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday Morning, 10/6/24

Morning everyone. Rather balmy out there this morning, if you call 61° balmy. But it’s warmer than it has been the past few mornings. Yesterday bottomed at 35°. Few places were colder. Rain missed us again last night. We only had 0.31 inches in Sept. and so far this month, barely enough to wet the ground.

Yet another hurricane heading into FL. Looks like Soos will be impacted by heavy rains and Irmi might have to batten the hatches. My neighbors park is in the cone too, so a worry for them.

I hauled out my snowblowers yesterday, started thm up, changed the oil in my big one and lubricated the augers. Everything working fine. It didn’t get a lot of use last year, so should be good to go. Just need to get another quart of oil as need a couple more ounces. Need to change oil in the little one, once I get some. Gave them a bath too. Cleaned out the last of my annuals in the flowerbeds and cut down the dead parts of my asiatic lilies. Once the last of them die off, will put a leaf mulch over the flowerbed and that will be that. Planted a little Forsythia plant yesterday that a neighbor gave me. Put a wire cage around it so a bunny or something doesn’t decide to have it for a snack. And also to keep me from accidently running over it with the mower. We shall see if it takes hold and grows. Neighbor propagated a bunch and gave me one.

So nothing much dong around here. Leaves are starting to change color slowly. Will do some yard cleanup again this week as Winds are bringing down those that are done for the year and also a few pine needles still falling. But tomorrow, will be heading to Lansing to MSU for Molly’s eye checkup. Friday is Apple Festival and huge craft show in Charlevoix, about an hour away, then Saturday, Shipshewana on the Road will be here. Fun times coming.

Barbie, glad you made it and are getting settled down. Sandi, so sorry about Abbe. Went through that with my Tessa. Beth, sounds like you are about ready to roll.

Got yo get moving here, wash hair, get dressed and head for Mass. have a nice day everyone.

Good afternoon Sue, Anne and all!

Sue, good to hear you have your yard equipment in working order. And you are correct, there is another storm brewing in the Gulf of Mexico that looks like will pay us a visit Wednesday. Much of the gulf coast of FL is still cleaning up from Helene. It's an extremely sad situation that these storms are coming so close together. Right now, it looks like the storm will make landfall south of Tampa. The further south it comes in, the better off we'll be. I just got a load of laundry going in case we lose power, but we have the generator we can use in the motorhome. We'll fill our gray water tank as well. Our cupboards are full as are our freezers and fridge. I'll keep in touch as I can and let you know how things are going here.

OK, last night I stayed up late and watched the first episode of High Potential. After getting a bunch done this morning I relaxed and watched the 2nd. Thanks for the heads up on this show, Karen. I've been watching Midsomer Murders, one episode aver couple days or so. I'll be sad when I've gotten through them all!

Irmi and all on the east coast, I'll be praying that you will all be safe with this new storm and hoping this will be the end of these for this season.

Still trying to eat the majority of my fridge and freezer food. I'm doing pretty well. The couple who were to replace my fridge in the tt for me have backed out, so I'm not sure how long I'll be without. I'm waiting until I get back because I'm pretty sure I can get some help from a couple guys in the park. If that works out, I'll measure again and have something delivered as soon as we figure it out after I get there.

Good afternoon. Weather is again very good. A bit warmer today 85 here and was still chilly in the morning 45°. Got my floors washed, bathrooms cleaned and that was about it. Just not feeling the motivation today. Have leftover Chicken Tortellini soup and garlic bread for dinner. Tomorrow will be a cooking day. Still need to go to the store but for now trying to use up what I have. But will need more bread and milk and some veggies so guess I will have to go this week sometime.

Saw another hurricane headed to Florida. Looks like it is going to pass right over Florida so hope it doesnt do too much damage. Irmi you sound like you are prepared. Those poor people are still cleaning up from Helene. Sue sure hope Molly gets a good report tomorrow.

oh my, Beth, you do realize there are 24 seasons of Midsomer Murder Mysteries ???? LOL LOL LOL
I'll be sad when I've gotten through them all!

I really liked High Potential, and then I watched another new show today Murder in a Small Town, not too sure about it yet but I will watch episode 2 tonight, it is on FOX.com Since Fox and ABC took down their apps I am watching it on my computer or tablet thru my browser. I just wanted to see if they were any good. I also watched Dr Odyssey on ABC.com last night. It was ok for lighthearted watching. Kind of an updated version of the Love Boat ha ha I always like to take a peek at the new shows to see what I like and what I dont care for. And what I will keep watching

I have probably watched all of the Midsomer Murder shows. It plays on PBS here but I haven't seen one in a while. I can watch them over and over because I never remember who the killer is. lol

Didn't do much today. I just ate a TV dinner and a lot of junk. I bought some blueberry muffins when I went to Costco and they are so good. Had to give Luna a bath. She has been needing a bath and I kept putting it off. This afternoon she rolled in something stinky so it had to be done today.

The mosquitoes are really bad again. I need to get some yard guard spray to spray the porch when I go out with Luna at night. Some come back in with us and I spend an hour killing them.

I need to call for an appointment to get the oil changed in my car this week and see about getting the truck to the shop.

Been busy getting stuff done around here. Ordered some things from Amazon and they actually showed up here, now that I put c/o with roommates name in the address. Have a few things coming tomorrow too. My new phone is still MIA but hoping it shows up tomorrow at David and Julie's place.

This morning I planned to go to my roommate's Dogtoberfest for awhile after checking out a church not far from me. By the time I got to the church, I wasn't feeling very good so I sat in my car for awhile. I finally went in when I was feeling a little better, after the service started, so I headed for the bookstore there. Talked to the gal working there for quite awhile. I will go back next week for the service. It was a guest speaker today anyways. It is a Unity church like I went to in Minnesota and San Diego.

From there, I went to the dog festival. I walked around to see the booths but it was really hot, around 100*. Felt bad for some of the dogs that were wearing costumes in the heat. They had several different dog contests thru the day. There were a lot of trees and some covered pavilions but absolutely no wind. Said hi to my roommate, and her sister and cousin, who were here the other day helping her get stuff organized.

Got a few things done after I got home. Otherwise, just relaxing. There is a mosquito in the house (or maybe more) and I have gotten bit at least 3 times in the past couple days. I need to get something for my room to zap them. Any ideas? Judy?

I think the time the cats spent together in close quarters while coming out here made them bond with each other more. They will sleep together now on the bed and I saw Sophie grooming Romeow tonight which she has never done. So that is a good thing!

I have a few phone calls to make in the morning and then keep organizing around here. Heather doesn't really have any designated place for my kitchen stuff (dishes or dry food), so that is still in bins until I can figure out where to put stuff. I do have my own 3/4 size refrigerator to use so that is nice. Picked up a few things at WM yesterday to put in there.

I better get to sleep. It is 2am already! Just haven't felt sleepy tonight.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
