Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Morning. Another sunny and mild day coming up. Good outside day. Window washing on the agenda for today. Won’t take long. Will put on the vinyl storm Windows as well. Then house is ready for whatever Winter brings.

Watching pictures of damage being created by Helene as it travels up the east side. Have a former neighbor and her husband who are full time RVers and are currently living in a campground in VA. They have a 5er set up on a pretty spot next to a river. They are up above it on the bank. But the river is rising. Some parts of campground are flooding. She said they have the car and the truck packed up and ready to go. If they need to evacuate they won’t take the camper because it’s pretty much set in place with a deck and hook ups and all that stuff. They were evacuated at 4 a.m. this morning and now at the son’s house. So they are safe, but who knows what will happen at cam-ground. Said they have learned that it’s just “stuff” and it can be replaced. They travelled because of his work, but he is now retired and they are thinking it’s time to get an S&B and settle in place. That might be coming sooner than later. Time will tell.

Liz posted pictures on FB of her neighborhood and it’s a mess. Getting tough to have to keep rebuilding and leaning up. Especially for older folks. And insurance is pretty much zilch down there as well or extremely expensive if you can get it.

So best get moving here as Morning is moving along. Have a nice day everyone.

The photos and videos I am seeing of the near total destruction remind me of the photos and videos of the terrible tsunami that hit Japan just a few years ago. Basically nothing left.

I am also reading that a dam there may be getting ready to fail, which has the potential to cause ever more massive damage to cities and towns downstream - even after Helene itself has moved on.

I think it a possibility that the few remaining real property insurers that were left in Florida will soon be pulling up stakes and moving out.

The implications for Florida and the south eastern part of the country are staggering.

I woke up at 6am and couldn't get back to sleep. Finally got out of bed at 8:30. I planned to get outside early to clean out my car before it gets too hot, but in the mornings I am so shaky and have no energy until I drink my protein drink so I am still waiting for some energy to kick in. I should have had my protein drink at 6am when I first woke up!

My SIL called me last night. We always talk for at least an hour or more! I found out that she also took English horseback riding lessons when she was young, like I did! We decided we are gonna go to a dude ranch out there and sign up for a trail ride thru the desert! With all her plans for us, I am gonna be really busy this winter! :D She is already making plans to take me to Tombstone. We were gonna go there when I was visiting last spring but it was just too hot.

When my friend took me to get my car, I decided to have them put 4 new tires on it too. I will feel much more secure now driving it out to Tucson.

I got a text message that my anti-depressant prescription was sent to WM yesterday so that should be ready to pick up today. That is a 3 month prescription so that will last awhile until I find a dr out there.

I was a little miffed yesterday. I got a metal "For Sale" sign from the office here (they only allow an 8X10" sign here) when I first put my house up for sale. I had to pay a $20 deposit which I would get back when I returned it. Well, I returned it yesterday but they said that I could only get the deposit back if it was returned within a year. I told her that I couldn't help that it took almost 2 years to sell it, and that no one told me there was a year limit on the sign deposit. I might have to write to the park manager and file a complaint.

I better get off my butt and start working on the car. It won't take long but will be hot since the car is in the sun in the mornings, even under the carport. The stuff I took out of the shed, I will bring in the house and go thru in here where it is cool. Also need to get my laundry going. Once I get moving, I will probably feel better. Just gotta start out slow and easy.

Have a good day!

Good afternoon or should I say evening. Electrician and wife just left. They have been working all day on 2 outlets. The outlets were not code and he wont "just make do", he is a perfectionist and for that I am glad. Whomever put those 2 outlets in didnt do it right. He said you have to have a metal box inside!!!!! prevents any fires in case of arcing. Okay......I am on board. So he didnt have enough room for all the wires so he made it a 4 outlet box which is bigger and I like having 4 plugs. Just cut out a bigger hole, insert the box, then stuff the wires in. Then he went outside as the exterior outlet hooked to this one was NOT a GFI. And it is code to have it be GFI if it is outside. It was tough getting them out and then putting them in. I am going to have him install GFI's in my bathrooms and kitchen (he doesnt know it yet LOL) I told him to take tomorrow off, he agreed. Lying on the floor trying to hook up all the wires you have to be a semi contortionist. He really works hard. Robyn hands him all the tools, saws, screws and wirenuts as he goes. Then she does all the cleanup. We have the ceiling fans to go yet (2) and finish installing the outside GFI, he just capped the wires off until Monday. I of course haven't got anything done but have learned a bit about electric and the fact I thank goodness I wasnt going to try to fix these outlets myself. He is a perfectionist and has to make sure everything is perfectly level. He has a small level LOL

Barbie the reason I have gone with the Roku stick is they update it when needed. On smart tv's the operating systems for streaming often lags and hence more buffering. But the Roku stick OR Amazon firestick are both good choices.

Time for some dinner and relaxation.

For the past two days, I have had a "friendly" fly which has been driving me crazy. This one likes to fly around my face and land on my bare legs or arms, even when I am driving. I couldn't even get online on my computer without constantly swatting at him. Finally, did what you are not supposed to do--got out the outside Raid and caught him/her while he/she was in the cab on the side window and gave him a couple of quick sprays. Then turned on my vent fan. At least I did not spray myself! Got to wipe the window off and the steering wheel before I drive tomorrow, but at least I am currently fly free!

Heading tomorrow to a COE campground. Will be nice to my budget for a couple of weeks, at least. Have a couple of other federal campgrounds scheduled over the next few weeks, which will make up for my expensive Napa RV park. Going to stop on my way and find a haircut because I really need one. Did 4 loads of laundry today, and almost everything put away.

Barbie, I know almost nothing about smart TVs, other than the salesmen at Best Buy said they are all smart these days. I ended up buying mine based on what would fit, although it is supposedly smart.

I don't remember what I did yesterday other than go to the deli and picked up some fried catfish. I came home and made fish tacos again. I really do like them. Had them again today.

The batteries in my Vivo Fit went dead so I went to Lafayette to bring my son some mail and go to the battery store. I thought about going to TJ Maxx but the parking lot was full and I didn't feel like fighting that crowd. The weather is very nice so I think almost everyone in Lafayette was on the road.

Karen, wish I could find a good electrician. The switches in this house are so cheap and two need to be replaced. The "handyman" that worked on my toilet was going to come fix them but have never heard from him. After dealing with him and the toilet I don't want him in my house again. I noticed when I unplugged the heater I keep in the bathroom that the plug was discolored. I'm not going to use the heater until I can get the outlet replaced.

There is a dog nose sticking through the arm of my chair. Guess she didn't get enough attention today.

Judy, staying in a COE campground will be good. I finally looked up the cost of the Mississippi state campgound sites. A full hookup site is almost $55 dollars a night. Louisiana hasn't gone up yet but it is probably coming. I don't really like to camp in Mississippi because I have to go through Baton Rouge to get there most of the time.
