Cool, Damp Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cool, Damp Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue Sep 24, 2024 7:54 am

Morning all. I too haven’t been posting of late and yes Irmi, I’m fine. Just nothing much doing around here right now. That time of year when things have slowed down from the busyness of summer into the more slow fall season. It has been too warm and dry here for much outside work, so other than keeping my plants watered,, I haven’t been up to anything much.

Think I mentioned a while back that I had been in a power washing project around here. That was the last outside project for me for this year. Am now slowly putting yard decorations etc. away and starting to prep for winter and cleaning up fallen leaves and pine needles. The warmer than normal temps and long stretch of dry weather has thrown the trees off their normal cycle of life. They don’t know whether to keep green leaves, needles etc. or start shutting down the process of stop making chlorophyll and let their annual fall colors show through. A lot of them are just turning brown and dong immediate leaf fall. But there’s a lot of green yet. We are still a good 2 weeks or so away from full fall color. We had sone rain on Sunday and getti g a little today. That coupled with more normal temps this week will help the trees.

The roofing company showed up last Friday and the garage is now sporting a new roof. Did a great job. So that’s done. A week ahead of what they had scheduled originally. Gutter guard folks are coming tomorrow to complete their installation of gutter guards on the garage gutter. Neighbors had a nice party over at their place on Saturday to celebrate his completion of the new patio and his Tiki bar. There were 11 of us. Had a nice time. Tonight another neighbor is taking me to a spaghetti dinner/silent auction fundraiser at her church. I did up a small Christmas Diamond Painting a week ago and donated it to her church for the Silent Auction. They are raising money to parking lot resurfacing. So my social life has been a little busy  I would have liked to have gone to the U.P. For a few days, but open dates at the place I wanted to stay and my having some of these commitments plus Molly having an appt. At MSU coming up, prevented me from doing it. Oh, well. Still looking at possibilities for next week. Or might just go up for day here and there. Color may not be as good up there either. We shall see.

Beth, hard to believe you are on the homeward trek already. Cheryl, good to see you post, have been wondering where you were at the moment. Barbie, sounds like you are about ready to roll. Anne, glad you are still “house hunting”. Sharon, so happy Buddy likes the treadmill. My two don’t mind walking in a light rain if we are out when it starts. In fact, if Molly is sleeping out in the yard and it starts raining, she won’t come in till it starts coming down too hard. She’s usually under a pine tree, up against the house or garage wall under overhang. I look out there sometimes and it’s raining lightly and she’s sound asleep  Irmi, hope the latest Gulf system doesn’t cause you any problems.

Today is a vac and dust morning. Then work on my DP for awhile in the afternoon. So a quiet type day till neighbor picks me up to go to the dinner. So, time to get busy. Have a great day all.

Morning Sue, we have been a tad worried as you said you were sick so glad to see all is well. Today my electrician comes back to continue putting in my ceiling lights, ceiling fans, and a few other things. These lights were a real challenge in a manufactured home. Also has the dumb popcorn ceilings but would cost way too much to have them taken down. They are clean so living with them. My living room is a construction zone for sure and will have LOTS of cleanup from all the dust and loose insulation, hey at least I have lots ha ha So I am anticipating lots of dusting of EVERYTHING. I will just be getting a head start on spring cleaning I think. I will just do one room at a time for deep cleaning. I know the blinds and windows will need cleaning. Will finish up the lights today, I hope. Still need a couple up in the family room. I hadn't thought of a dimmer switch but Laura mentioned it so I included that in my requests. I am happy to have these lights as my living room is so dark, due to the long awnings. Electricians are not cheap but he is at least reasonable. (ya know, for an electrician).

We are supposed to be very hot today!!!! 96 but then tomorrow will drop about 20° and continue to be in the "reasonable" category. I am spoiled with our weather lately. Chilly in the am and warm and sunny in the afternoon in the low 70-80's. I am still rooting for Fall to get here soon.

Beth is on the home stretch. Enjoy your little break at the cabin. Looks like a great place for some R&R. Good to see Sharon and how good Buddy is doing on the treadmil. Sheila in the planning stages of her trip in October, sounds like a fun trip. Irmi and Martha will be watching and hoping for the best. Anne I sure hope you get some respite from the heat soon. You better step up your game for house hunting before next year as they say it could be even hotter.

Sue, glad to hear things are moving along. I like seeing morning posts from you and Sharon. Yep, we worry.

I went in the office and paid for another night. TY and I are sitting on our porch. I got a hot chocolate and had a couple bagels from the continental breakfast at the motel I'll never stay at again. But nice that they are still providing me breakfast lol. 1/2 a bagel with cream cheese does the trick. Actually 1/4 bagel so far but I know I'll do the secund 1/4 in awhile. Temps going up here and at my place in Benson. But the Texas temps with the humidity have me scared if they don't go down soon. If I didn't have an appt with my opthamologist if I'd delay a couple weeks or month. Something to remember for next year.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Good morning Sue, Kareb and all that check in!

Sue, thanks for checking in! Since you had mentioned not feeling well earlier on, I was concerned about you. Karen, we had recessed lights in our living room, dining room and master bedroom and loved them. All of them were on dimmer switches. Since I worked for the electrical contractor that did the work, they gave me a big break on both the materials and labor. I'm sure you'll be happy with the results. Sharon, that is so neat that Buddy is walking on his treadmill! He has certainly come a long way. Beth, you snuck in just before I posted and am so glad you can stay another night!

It was 71 degrees when I got up, right now it is 85 and we'll reach a high in the low 90's this afternoon. Right now it is sunny and we have a light breeze. The weatherman we watch, which is out of Tampa, says the storm could make land fall somewhere around the Tampa area and the Big Bend, which is in the gulf region in the panhandle if FL. But this won't happen until late tomorrow evening/tomorrow night. So things could change between now and then. Of the 41 counties in the storm watch area, we are not in it, but on the edge. We're keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Tomorrow we'll take the cushions off the furniture in the pergola and possibly bungee cord the furniture together. Martha, I'm thinking about you hoping all of us get through this unscathed.

Good morning gals,

Finally got the RV up to the dealer yesterday but not without more problems. :o It wouldn't start again yesterday morning. The battery was totally dead again. My mechanic wasn't available yesterday so I finally opted to have it towed to the RV dealer in the afternoon. Just decided I don't have the time or nerves left to deal with it anymore. So that is done for now, until hopefully, I get a check from them soon!

This morning I woke up with a major anxiety attack, realizing how much I still have to do and only a few days left! I decided to change the move date to next Tuesday, October 1st. That will give me more time to get finished without feeling rushed. Will just have to change a few reservations. Still feeling really anxious now tho, so I took an anti-anxiety pill and just waiting for it to kick in. With all the issues with my car and the RV, I just lost a lot of time to get ready for the move.

I need to get my car looked at this week too. Something doesn't feel right in the front end when driving on the freeway. I am gonna take it to a different mechanic to check it out this time. Hopefully, I can get it in tomorrow. I need to eliminate anything that is anxiety-inducing!

The new owner will be in town this afternoon to check on the progress of the work being done in his place next door. I need to show him a few things here, like how to use the mini-splits, where things are, etc.

Also waiting to get a couple prescriptions filled before I leave. My GP is on maternity leave and I got a letter yesterday that she is not coming back so I have no current doctor. The office is trying to figure out how to refill my anti-depressant meds now. They referred me to another doctor in Palm Springs but they want me to go in and see him before he will refill anything. So I am not sure what is gonna happen. I have a tele-health appt with my ADHD dr tomorrow morning. I don't think he can get me more meds before I leave because I still have a couple weeks left and the pharmacy won't renew them even a day early since they are a controlled substance. So I doubt I can get that refilled now.

Need to do some laundry today but still not feeling very peppy. I need to get started on something around here tho. Maybe just get the phone calls taken care of to change reservations.

Hoping the storm in the Gulf doesn't amount to much. The temps here will be 110* every day for the next week.

Beth, safe travels back to Benson.

Have a good day

-----OK, I just went out to my car and it won't start!!! WTF?? I swear I am cursed! I have a call into my mechanic...

I'm not overly concerned about the storm right now but you never know what one will do. The last one was suppose to come in here but missed me by about 40 to 50 miles. I usually watch the noon news on one of the local stations but it has been off the air for 2 days for tower maintenance. I'm watching the Weather Channel with the sound turned off. They get really excited when they have a storm to cover. I bet the guy's arms are tired at night from all the waving.

Barbie, it seems like I remember that the guy that writes one of the blogs I follow mentions picking up his prescriptions where ever he is from Walmart. Could your doctors call in the prescriptions to Walmart and you could pick them up at another Walmart?

Karen, I have the popcorn ceilings too and hate them. I saw a machine that removes the popcorn part somewhere, probably on Facebook. I bet that is a mess. My dining room/kitchen ceiling needs to be replaced but will wait until after hurricane season to try to find someone. The guy that I called to do the dirt work on my hill has never called me. I am tempted to just order a load of dirt and do it myself.

Good morning!

Beth, so glad you decided to give yourself an extra day! I'd like to find somewhere peaceful to do that sometime instead of having a schedule. Irmi and Martha, certainly watching as all these storms brew - have many friends and family in Florida. One house we bought had 'mountain' ceiling not popcorn! Seems the lady and a neighbor had at it themselves. We removed it. Barbie, hang in there! Sue, glad you are feeling better!

I know many are tired of the heat, but I'm glad it's hanging around here a bit! I took a chair and sat in the sun while having the car serviced this morning. Long term forecast predicts a lot of rain next month, but we know that can change! I keep plugging away at things. Haven't even thought about house cleaning with this and that popping up! Ran errands in Wenatchee yesterday to get things to finish needlework and quilting projects and a memory card for dash cam so I can install it. Went to the car wash but old dirty rain baked on so will have to hand wash it. Fall and Halloween decor for my tree arrived so need to get on that.

Barbie, I use Walgreens for prescriptions and pick up refills everywhere in the country because each store is able to access my prescriptions. The only tricky part is reminding doctors to send refills to the new pharmacy, not the one they sent the last prescription to. CVS and Walmarts can do this also. I usually call a local Walgreens and speak to the pharmacist or technician and tell them I have a refill I need refilled but it was originally filled somewhere else, and they can look it up.

Lazy day, though I did go out and use some paper towel and windex to get some of the places I could not reach with my big brush when I washed my rig two days ago. I need a smaller hand brush that fits in corners. Also got some of the bugs off the front bumper.

Tomorrow the technician comes to try to fix my list of stuff. Might need a TV, and have not bought one in 25 years!!!

Well, today's temp topped out at 107* (my digital weather station) or maybe it was really 109* (my old-fashioned mercury thermometer).

Either way, it was pretty dang hot. Supposed to be a "cooling trend" coming over the next couple days (not holding my breath, but keeping my fingers crossed).

Still doing the Zillow thing. I also found a YouTube channel that is about a guy who is a licensed property inspector - the things he finds in some of the homes he looks at for buyers is pretty hair-raising, but is also giving me things to think about.

Hope that hurricane that is blowing into Florida misses all you ladies on here. It really looks like a doozie.

I was going to ask Barbie if she gets her RX'S at Walmart if so she would be able to get them filled in another area but you all said it... Walmart, Walgreens and CVS are I think ones that can fill in other area's... I think Larry went through Walmart ... I am so sorry Barbie that you are having such a problem with things with motor's sounds like a good idea to change leaving times... hopefully the car will get fixed quickly and that even with it's issues the RV will sell quickly
Beth can't you change the appointment? or is it time sensitive? have a safe drive tomorrow to Benson
Anne I ought to look at the page that shows where we are as I am in Jackson Wy mention Idaho a lot as we are just barely in Wy possibly 30 miles from the Idaho Border two of my daughter's live in Idaho as well as several of my grandchild like 6 of them and my two great grandchildren.... Jackson is the town I was born in went to jr high and high school in but lived out in the country on a ranch .... that is too bad that you didn't get a garden in but totally get not being able to be out in heat
Martha if you do move some dirt we need pictures!!! before when you get the dirt there and after ... I bet you can do it... as I am sure Sue would as well
Here's hoping that the RV tech can take care of all your issues Judy I think after 25 years you can use a new tv... get a smart tv and then you can use different sources for tv watching... what is your next stop?
Sue hoping that you can make it up to the UP a change in scenery is always so nice
Karen that sounds like a lot of work but bet it will be great when you are finished... I have to laugh here there are just table lights two that are rarely used as one is hard to get to and the other one no chair by it so there is the one which is a hanging light over mom's chair and the table light next to the couch where I sit... mom's light doesn't give me enough light especially when I am crocheting so I turn on the table light which with both of them on makes the room much brighter but when I turn the lamp on off goes the light over the chair... I don't understand the issue other than I am sure habit to keep the electricity bill down and I am all for turning off lights in area's where no one is there but in a room that is occupied? I even put in the what are the bulbs called that use little electricity... just shake my head
Irmi I hope you both don't have issues with the new storm... is Liz and Nan in the area of it?
we actually did something today... went out on the lake friends have a boat so they took us out was so nice of them got in the boat and out of it... I won't say it was easy or pretty but as I told him it was worth it.... so glad that they took us out gives one a different perspective in the Teton range most of the peaks are very peaky one Mt Moran is flat on the top... but out on the lake a bit north of it and close to the base of the range it was peaky totally amazed told Narda that if Jim painted Mt Moran from that angle people would tell him he had the wrong name on it... Jim is a great painter look him up Jim Wilcox I only wish I could afford one of his paintings...
you all have a great day

His website is jimwilcoxart.com . His paintings look like photographs! Just stunning!

I am pretty sure the problem with my car now is the starter. The lights come on but I just get clicking when I turn the key, or nothing at all. Am getting a guy from my mechanic shop over in the morning to check it out but I may have to get it towed.

I got the last of the stuff in my bedroom and bathroom packed up except for the few necessary things I need for the next week or so. Tomorrow I, will finish the last of the kitchen and living room stuff. I bought some larger bins at WM last week but grabbed the wrong lids for them. So once I get my car running again  I will go back and find the right lids and switch them out for the wrong ones I got.

Got all my reservations switched to early next week. I wasn't able to find the right sized U-Haul trailer to pick up on Monday, but did find one available to pick up on Sunday so I reserved that one.

The new owner of my house is in town and I saw him this evening. He was checking on the work that has been done next door. I then showed him a few things in here I wanted him to know about.

I was told by the pharmacist at my WM that I need to check with the WM in Tucson to see if they will fill an out of state prescription for a controlled substance (ADHD stimulant). He said not all states will do that.

Sophie just brought her toy mouse up on the bed and is flinging it around and pouncing on it. She is so cute! She loves her little mousies! She likes the new bed I got for their little screen room too. I got calming collars for both cats for the trip. They worked well for Lola, so am hoping they work with these two, as well. I need one for myself too, since I will probably be a nervous wreck worrying about something else going wrong on the way out there!

Good night

Yup. We also need a photo of you wearing a calming collar, Barbie!

By the way, sometimes a starter motor has a bad spot so try it out. Will still need to be replaced but you might not need a tow I had mine replaced about a year ago.

Thanks, Sheila! I will try to remember that. I somehow thought all of this time that you live somewhere near Idaho Falls. My mistake. Wyoming is SO beautiful!!
