Cooler Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cooler Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:31 am

Morning all. After 3 hot and humid days, cold front came through last night. Definitely cooling down this morning. Put portable AC unit away and opened patio door and my bedroom Window. Supposed to be in 70’s rest of week. Possible showers thrown in for good measure. It’s been nice this summer in terms of rain. Haven’t had to do a lot of watering and flowers are loving it. Grass, which usually starts burning up this time of year, is nice and green. Time for another mowing.

Barbie, looks lke my energizer bunny is paying you a visit after reading what you accomplished of late. You really have the ball rolling. Catherine, sorry you didn’t enjoy your trip, but at least you saw your daughter. I have a friend I don’t enjoy traveling with either, but yet still Stsy friends. Just one of those things I guess. Sometimes you can be friends, but you just don’t do certain things together. It was RV related and I’m not doing that anymore. Beth, beautiful sunrise but sorry to hear you have a UTI. Hope you feel better soon. Good luck with eye surgery tomorrow, Karen.

Nothing much doing here. Was too hot and humid to do anything outside these past three days. But did mow neighbors lawn. I finished up porch project except for two things. Got my shed all cleaned out, excess scrap wood gone and the pile of old cedar fencing gone as I mentioned before, back of shed all cleaned up, so lot of big stuff done this spring and summer so far. One of those years when you just need to get things done and gone. In a purging mood. Next up is replacing some chipping and starting to rot service door frame on garage and install a new screen door. Been wanting to do that, but other things first. Probably won’t do much today as it’s damp and wet and they say scattered showers/storms this afternoon.

Need to hop in the shower and get moving here. Want to run vac and water flowers out front later on. May or may not go to town to get the mouldings and screen door, so I will have it here when ready to do it.

I noticed that BJ had posted again with her offer to work with anyone, online. Having sat through sessions with BJ over the years I can suggest that they are helpful. Barbie, as you questioned the possible connection between stress, panic attacks and back pain, you might consider her offer. Whether or not you believe in Hypnosis of not, what BJ models is the same systematic relaxation process that I have found scripted in numerous books, only it is much better following her voice than reading an example in a book. Our bodies can hold so much tension and stress. Learning ways to scan for it, release it and let it go is invaluable. Mediation, yoga, Tai Chi,breathing exercise can all useful. Using our minds to help heal our bodies and/or maintain our health is useful. And most of us usually know by now that Doctors do not have "magic" beans.....or as writer Shel Silverstein once wrote, "All the magic I have know, I've had to make myself."

Supposed to be a little cooler today, but turned out to be hotter. I am hoping for a cooler tomorrow, as predicted, because I have some outside stuff to do and don't want to do it in the heat and humidity.

Spent last couple of hours making calls to find out why i have not gotten money transferred to my aunt's account from two investment companies. One said check is in the mail, and other said they had no record of any of the paperwork I sent in!!!! As Charlie Brown said, "Grrrrrr!" And this was the form that required a medallion guarantee from the bank, so I have to go back in tomorrow and get papers resigned and re-guaranteed.

Thankfully, I have good cell service here and AC is working well!!!

Good afternoon ladies!

Beth (I finally figured out a way to misspell your name that Spell Correct worked!), I loved the picture and hope the uti leaves. BJ, hopefully the hypnosis session with your friend works for her. And what Tina mentioned for Barbie regarding hypnosis makes a lot of sense. Caterine, it's so good seeing you again and wish your trip ad gone differently.

Our TV in the casita as turned on by itself quite a few times. I always thought the remotes in everyone's vehicles, for the entrance gate, could have caused it to occur. But I have no idea.

We went to Freds Restaurant today in Lakeland, about 1-1/2 ours south of us, for the buffet lunch, which is wonderful. We found it some years ago because my dentist is in Lakeland. The majority of my meal comes from the salad bar.

We ad some rain this afternoon! This is FLs rainy season and the sky gets dark every afternoon, we usually get thunder and lightning, and the dark skies move on and go somewhere else.

Enjoy te rest of your day!

Good afternoon. Been a busy bee this morning. Started out with an alert from my bank asking if I made this charge INSTACART $1.00 well NO. Never used Instacart ever. Had some links to click on in the alert but oh heck no. So a telephone call confirmed it.
Then I went to the bank site and lo and behold I have a totally new credit card number. DAMN I knew that number by heart I will get my card in a week. Great it is the card I have my 3 auto pay things on. I have another credit card but I only use the one. The fellow I talked to said the suto pay companies that I have (Spectrum and Hulu) it will still go thru but to update once I get my card. I asked if he could just tell me the rest of my account number and the ccv code so I could update now, he had a chuckle. NO
Then I got busy spiffing the house so I can just relax after my surgery. I have plenty to eat so I wont starve. Since I cant bend over I figured out a way to put the dog dishes down to feed her with my grabber. Only worked with one of her dishes but hey it worked.

Another hot day here. Lots of fires all over down here and a scary one in Eugene yesterday as it was close to a couple housing tracts. So far they have gotten a good handle on all of them. I think I am done for today. Filled out all my paperwork for tomorrow did my E-checkin online. I am ready to get this over with. It is nothing major just an inconvenience.

i really love living alone. I like my own company and the schedules I keep. I also love to have company but then I know they are not permanent LOL I find most people have their own routines day to day whether working or retired. I can do what I want when I want, I can eat any hour I want. Nobody asking what is for dinner ha ha ha many days I have no idea.Get up really early or sleep later and I wont disturb anyone.

Laura and I took a two week trip together and had a blast. We pretty much think alike. Get up early enjoy a bit of the morning and coffe then back on the road. Get off early enough for a good dinner and relaxing evening. Cruise thru museums reading what we want and checking out what is of interest. We went places we both wanted to go and then she wanted to see something so we went and then off to see something I wanted to see. Compromise worked excellent for us. I would go again for sure. We have spent hours RV'ing together and have enjoyed every one of them. BUT I have traveled a couple times with people that made me crazy but I only did it once ha ha I am a quick learner.

Time for an afternoon Caramel Iced Mocha.

Thank you TIna for your post about your personal experience and explanation of what I do. I will add a little more information in case anyone is interested. I talk to the person to see what issue they are experiencing. It is frequently sleep or anxiety. but over the years I have worked with people for extreme/unexplained fear. An example is a woman who couldn’t stand to have her face touched around her eyes and she needed cataract surgery. I was able to work with her and she had two successful surgeries with no problem. A grandmother asked me to work with her granddaughter who suffered anxiety attacks before job interviews as she had an interview scheduled. She called later to say the granddaughter had made it to the interview with no problem and was offered the position. So it is very diverse and I find it interesting and challenging. You have all probably experienced Highway Hypnosis which is where you have reached your destination and have little or no recall of the trip. You can Google it for a better description. I do not ask someone to talk during the process other than occasionally asking for a yes or no response. If you don’t go fully into hypnosis the progressive relaxation I guide you through in the beginning is beneficial. I no longer charge as I just enjoy working with people. The usual amount of time is 30 minutes. I'd be happy to answer any questions. I work using WhatsApp or Skype.

There was a breach in a dam at Nashville, IL which is about 75 miles away and several have been evacuated from their homes and two highways are closed. I think it is a first time ever for the area. It was supposed to be hot with near 110 heat index again today but we woke up to clouds and later rain. It was in the seventies!!!

Irmi, I was never worried about my name missing the h. I was surprised now to see it. Lol

Karen, I was nervous about my cataract surgeries but both were a breeze. My only problem is I wish I had considered the cost for correction of both distance and near. I've worn glasses since I was so young I didn't think needing them for near would be a big deal. In time it probably won't be, but I never needed glasses for near and now I'm thinking of getting half frames for near as I need it way more than I expected. Lol I went to Dollar Tree where I got the three pairs I have but they only had a couple half frames and weren't acceptable to me. I think I'll end up getting a pair on Zenni. At least the lenses will be better quality. But I'm waiting until after my next check with my opthamologist when I get back to Texas.

BJ, I love that you help so many and don't even charge. It's wonderful and you give me more faith in this world we're living in.

It has been a busy day again. Went to get my bloodwork done this morning. I usually get a little lightheaded but no problem today. Quick and painless! I have been saving my water bottles for recycling. I usually put them in the recycling bin here in the park and they use the money they get for the activities fund. I figured I need the money right now more than they do so I decided to just bring all my bottles in myself. So I found a place nearby and got a whopping $13 for them! I had 5 large bins full! Well, every dollar counts right now.

Then I went later for my eye dr appointment. It was a place I have not been to before. It was a different experience. I was brought back to one room to get my eyes measured or something (they shine a light in your eyes). Then I waited in the lobby for a bit before being called into another room. That lady used a new machine (Optomap) that takes upclose photos of your eyes. No need to have them dilated anymore! Yay! Then I went and sat in the lobby again. Was called into yet another room where I got my eyesight tested by the dr who was doing the testing remotely! Finally got my new prescription and headed home. It was sure a different kind of set-up, but I have to say everyone there was super nice!

I got a couple of emails last night regarding the sale of the house. One I think were about documents that are for the buyer, not me. One was very confusing so I replied back (my agent's assistant) asking what it was about. The third one was from the escrow company saying they need me to send them $485 to get HOA documents from our management company for the buyer! :o  I called my agent today and told him I don't have $485 to send them right now. He said to just hold off (like I have a choice, other than to rob a bank!) and he will figure something out. That is a ton of money for documents!! My agent said that since the buyer just bought the house next door, he should have already gotten those documents then and doesn't need another set. He will find out.

So much for Prime Day! I was gonna check and see if anything on my Amazon RV lists had a good deals, but that will have to wait. I figured I can wait until Black Friday and get what I need on sale then.

Tomorrow I need to try and get an exterminator out here right away. Found out there will be a home inspection on Thursday morning and the buyers agent is all worried that there will be spiders under the house when he inspects under there (which there probably will be  ). So I need to get that taken care of in the morning. I will also have to clean up around here a little and make sure the inspector can get to everything he needs to.

The lady I gave a haircut to the other day (the one who was a stylist and had her own shop with her husband) has some dementia now. She is super sweet but definitely has some memory issues. She had left a voice message after I gave her the cut and said how much she loves her haircut. Then she called me later and told me that again (I think I mentioned that on here on Sunday). She called me again last night and told me all over again! THEN, she showed up at my doorstep this morning to give me a hug and tell me how much she loves her haircut! Good thing I don't have a big ego! But it is nice to hear, even 4 times! :D Good think she didn't hate it or I would be feeling really bad hearing about that 4 days in a row!

Linda (bikerchic) posted photos on FB of the tornado damage after it went right past her building! Her place was OK but lots of trees down all around there.

Karen, don't those grabber thingies come in handy? I used mine a lot last week when I had my back issues. I use it too to get cat toys out from under the bed and couch.

Gonna watch a little TV and then get to bed early tonight so I can get up early, call the bug guy, and start straightening up the house before I go for my MRI.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie~ about your post from yesterday...

"My kitchen lights are not working right today . It is the florescent lights. When I turn on the light switch, they might not come on at all, or some will come on and others don't
. So it isn't the bulbs, but must be some loose connection somewhere behind the switch. Will have to find an electrician to look at it. More phone calls to make and appointments to set up. "
Location: Indio, CA

It may only be the ballast. It's usually a silver thing, maybe an inch long, that the florescent bulb connects to. Maybe a quarter inch turn and it should come out and can be found at much any hardware store to get the correct one. Try that first before spending $$$ on an electrician.

I had those lights. It wasnt the ballasts (had them replaced ) and no loose connections it is just something they do apparently, more so in my case when it was cooler outside. I had an electrician come here and change the bulbs to LED's and he took out the ballasts etc and direct wired them and now when I flip the switch they come right on. I love them

I used to have those long flourescent tube lights in the kitchen of my previous house. When they started to flicker, that meant they needed (the bulbs) to be replaced. For me, anyway.

When I would put in new bulbs the flickering would stop.

I was wondering about the ballasts but couldn't think of the term...it's good to check the cheaper things first though...
I've gotten used to Irmi's H missing was surprised today to see that it seemed to work ... until it didn't
I didn't realize BJ that you talked with the person and was wondering how in the world you can do it on the computer... silly me it sounds like there are ways you can help people...
we have been going through a cooler spell humidity has been high though I know a 25 % isn't high when it's usually a lot less you feel it... today it was over cast don't think it rained though the grass on the hillsides are still green and it's almost Aug in a couple of weeks anyway it seems like it's staying greener and that is also good.... but on the other hand we do need rain don't want to go through fires
not sure why but the last few times I've told mom that I'm going to the store I've gotten a roll of the eyes and a look of not sure what if it's "again???" or "so what else is new" look haven't figured it out it's not like I go every day usually once a week some times twice this week it might be twice I need to go to the bank and deposit her checks she has gotten... and I've a couple of questions I want to ask... and perhaps a stop at ACE'S and the post office and the store for a couple of items I forgot even looked at it but then didn't get it... but then if I run out can make a substitute
started the grandson's afghan when I get the three colors on I usually text them a picture to see if it's ok as although I don't want to take it out I'd rather than have it be something they don't like so sent a text asking if it was a yea or nay his response was "yea massive Yea" made me feel good.. finished the two hats to a point they need pompom's need to get some and I need to decide which side is going to be the outside and then get rid of some strands of yarn... but for now I can set them aside and figure out if I can learn that one stitch and see if I can make a baby hat...
Monday my youngest dd called she began with I jinxed myself so of course I asked how she had told her husband as he was going off on a business trip that she wasn't going anywhere the next day.... famous last words... her daughter is going with the grandparents to Utah for a visit but she wanted to see her best friend and say goodbye but papa didn't want to stop by as they were busy packing up ect so dd took her daughter to see her friend ... trip one then she got a call from her aunt (they are the chosen aunt and uncle) asking if she would mind picking up something for her (she is almost bedridden) as her husband wasn't feeling well so off she goes gets the milk and to their house see's how bad her uncle is and asked if he wanted her to take him to ER decided he would be seen quicker if he went by ambulance so now he is in the hospital with his sodium decreasing even with having a sodium drip and is now in cardiac ICU has us all worried his daughters have been with him well one she went home and the other is now with him and son is on his way up one son lives in AK so not sure what his plans are probably a wait and see... just feeling so sad about it his heart isn't good and he has Parkinson's although not too bad yet I'm hoping I don't have to make a trip up to Washington anytime soon... was hoping to go this fall for a pleasant visit
Beth get to feeling better ok

Barbie, I wouldn’t mind having a ghost if it was someone I knew. lol My TV must have sensitive controls. It just started the coming back on but it has gone off just by having a cat walk across the table in front of it. I have to make sure the Direct box is off.

It rained three times this morning and always started with a big clap of thunder. That upsets Luna. I went out with her between the rains and threw the ball. She went and got it and passed me up and went to the door. She doesn’t like to get her feet wet. I got 2 inches of rain. Guess I won’t be doing any mowing anytime soon.

They called that the truck was ready. I told my son that I would buy him lunch if he would come get me to pick up the truck. The truck is running so much better. We’ll see how long that lasts.

I have two florescent lights in my kitchen. I couldn't remember which ones I had the last time I had to buy two bulbs. I ended up with one light with day light and one light with cool white bulbs. That would probably drive some people crazy but I don't care. The next time some burn out I'll try to get them matched.

Barbie, does the lady you gave a haircut to with memory problems live alone? I think she needs someone watching her. I should get one of the grabber things to pick up things when I mow. If there is a limb in the way when I'm mowing I just mow around it. I hate to have to keep getting off the mower. I should walk around the yard before I start and pick up thing but never think about that.

The weather is predicting a lot of rain for the next 10 days. The campground I'm going to is only about 60 miles from here so the chance of rain is probably about the same. A least we will have a meeting room with a kitchen to hang out in.
