Soggy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Soggy Saturday

Morning all. Wet is supposed to be the order of the day. Waves of torrential rain throughout the day and into tonight. 2-3 inches for this area. We’ e had some rain everyday this week, mostly at night/early morning. Everything is so damp. Cool front came through on Tuesday night and broke the hot weather. Been in upper 6’s/low 70’s past couple days. Been very muggy due to the rains as I mentioned. But this kind of muggy is tolerable. Have had doors and windows open, put portable AC away. Much as I hate getting up on ladders anymore, I did give my gutters a good cleaning yesterday in advance of heavy rain expected. Also put my potted plants in tbe garage and couple up in porch. They are so wet, don’t need anymore water and heavy rain can beat my impatiens up. More seasonable weather coming next week.

Cheryl, great news on your home being all fixed and you getting in the road. Safe travels on your wandering to IL. Anita, envy you going to AK. Been 24 years since I was there. Shelia, seems funny hearing you say you are having cold weather, but given the area you live in, I can under stand. We had a couple nights with frost possible before this heat wave moved in. Looking through the past posts, can’t believenobody posted on Thursday. Gotta be a first. Carol, you go girl. Keep driving that motorhome around and it will become second nature.

Just going to putter around in house today. Need to do some cosmetic paint touchup in the two figures from the sub entrance flowerbed and change them over to patriotic costumes. My bifold closet door has a dent in tbe upper track, so want to see if I can straight that out as it binds the door and then will work on my beagle DP. Getting close to finishing it. So guess I will get moving around here.

Sure, look at your Wed heading. Lol Your date on it was Thursday. So we just left it be for both days lolol

We had a little rain during the hours we normally have our nightly walk on Thursday. Yesterday it poured during that time frame. Found a lull to get Ty out for at least a pee. Looks like we'll see some more this afternoon. I'm hoping it doesn't continue into it waking before dark, but looks like it might. That said, I'll try for a good walk in a few.

Anita, if there's another trip I want to take in the RV it's Alaska and the Yukon again. Enjoy!!! And good news that you found storage with a wide enough door.

Just looked at the radar map of northern Michigan, so I hope you are inside and buckled down, Sue!!! Wow!

And Beth, I also would like to go to Alaska, but I don't want to drive my motorhome alone in case of vehicle trouble--just don't want to have to hitchhike on the Alaskan Highway if I am out of cell phone range. (I do have emergency satellite on my cell phone if I need it, however.) If you and maybe some others want to plan a trip where we caravan, I would love to join you. Once we got there, we could separate, but it would still be safer to follow one another there and back.

Made crepes this morning and having them for lunch since I did not get them done earlier. Made some cherry sauce from leftover frozen cherries, and it tastes really good!! Could use some of my runnier jam on pancakes, also, I guess.

Going to pick up some specialty groceries and then go to a friend's house tomorrow for dinner, so looking forward to that. She and I worked together and were both going through divorces in 1984!

I wouldn't mind being in Alaska now sitting on an ice burg if there are any! It has been hot and humid here but thankfully with a couple of cooler days in between. The weather forecasters of course keep giving all sorts of scary predictions so I don't like to watch. Some thing is biting me and I have itchy places on my legs and one on my torso. They start out looking like a chigger or mosquito bite but they itch and hurt for several days, then they get a little yellow spot in the center and finally start to fade but still itch. I have a couple that have been itching for almost 3 weeks. This happened a couple of years ago but it wasn't this bad and didn't last this long. A friend thinks it could be Oak Tree Mites. We have several oak trees in our yard and around us in neighbors yards. The information says they are so small the wind sometimes carries them quite a distance. I've been trying vinegar and baking soda, Neosporin Ointment and CBD oil but nothing seems to work. I'm thinking whatever it is comes in on the dogs and then they get on Pippa who sits in my lap a lot. I've didn't let her sit with me yesterday or today and now she isn't asking and I feel terrible.
There was a drive by shooting on the main street through town yesterday. There is a lovely old house that has been converted into a bookstore and someone shot through the front window. A woman was inside but wasn't hurt. Crazy!!

BJ, all that itching sounds terrible. Maybe you could put some plastic film on your lap and then a towel before you let dogs sit on or next to you. That would eliminate one cause, at least.

I usually end up at urgent care for insect bites that look infected, and they give me prednisone and an antibiotic really works after I try to wait things out.

Another hot day. I might should have mowed but I wanted to give it one more day to dry. I have the monthly Hospice dinner tomorrow so hope I can mow tomorrow afternoon.

A couple of the local TV stations were bought and they fired almost all of the people with experience. One station has gone with mostly local news and have all women reporters, probably because they can pay them less. Each one has a local area to cover. You should see some of the outfits these women wear. When I was working we had dress codes. There must not be enough local news because they keep showing the same stories over and over. Now the most experienced weather man works for the station with the worst news reporting. I have started watching a station that hired two of the fired reporters I liked.

BJ, there are shootings everyday some where in the area here. It makes you afraid to go anywhere. So far we haven't had any problems out here but I don't like the weekend traffic on this road. My neighbor says it's kids partying on the river. This road dead ends at the river.

Anita I guess I just assumed that when you said you were going to AK it was on a cruise... have so much fun it is something that Larry always wanted to do and if I had something smaller than the 5th wheel I would join in with you all...well once I'm able to go and do at will...
we've had warmer weather I went to the nursery today (big mistake) the greenhouse was so hot even with all the doors open but hopefully I have all that I need... or want I just shouldn't go to nursery's .... or garden centers in the big stores anywhere where there is a plant
I discovered yesterday that I bought a perannuel for some reason can't get it close enough to be corrected put pretty sure you all will know what the word it... so will try to bring it in come fall or if I get to go to Q it will go with me... hopefully the hummers will like it as well as they said they would... I've taken plants down with me in the past or empty planters and pot them down there...
our renter moved in tonight think it will work out not sure how long it will take mom to remember who he is... or why he is here.... dd#3 told her that she was really worried about me falling especially when taking out the garbage in the winter going down it's too bad (slight decline or incline depending upon which way your are going) coming back up can be a bear... hopefully he will be a big help ... his grandparents are really nice people he will have to go to work at 5 living here will be able to sleep till 4 not 2 which is what it would be while the pass is closed... need to see what the progress of that is ...
from nursery went to the store... if I had known what to do I think I would have done it on line today really tired from this cold really think it's a good old head cold lots of coughing sneezing productive cough at that and blowing my nose how one head can blow out that much stuff is mind boggling :o
when do your family come to visit Barbie?
My dd got her lawnmower but can't keep it running it's getting to be a field
hopefully BJ you can figure out what it is that is biting you... and find a way of getting rid of it...
you all have a great day
you could share some of your rain Sue we haven't had any for awhile
