WEDNESDAY 6/5

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WEDNESDAY 6/5

Postby OregonLuvr » Wed Jun 05, 2024 12:02 pm

Good morning. Cloudy right now but sun expected and a heat wave is coming our way supposedly. 82 86 91 83 this week. Watering system will do it's job.

Bunco this afternoon but not at my house LOL I hosted the month of May and now it is other peoples turn. I didn't really mind, it was fun but it takes some work. The hoster supplies a dessert and snacks and has the clean up LOL so I am off the hook for quite a while now.

Making my casserole this morning as I got involved yesterday so can't get involved in any projects this morning. So will make the casserole take a shower, have some lunch and off to Bunco at 1pm

Cheryl at least things are happening now at your place, hope you get everything done that you need to. Dont invite any more snakes your way LOL

Forgot to mention I picked 6 good sized strawberries this morning and they are super sweet. Won't be very prolific this year so am hoping for a bumper crop next year ha ha

Afternoon all. Been having rain showers and rumble of Thunder, passing through, on and off tnis morning and as we head into afternoon. We can use the rain, although we have had some light overnight rain on Monday. Temps went Into the 80’s and has been humid since yesterday. Should only be in low to mid 70’s this time of year. Back to normal tomorrow after this cold front goes through.

I kind of wanted to go town, and but changed my mind. Wanted to print the vet report from Monday, but printer wouldn’t print it out. Guess the ink finally ran out. Will get some tomorrow. So took a shower and cleaned the bathroom and kitchen and washed the floors. Think I will work on my DP this afternoon.

Martha, hope the incoming storms miss you. Patsorry you are having such a rough start to the year. Hopefully it’s all uphill from here. Cheryl, glad the repairs are finally starting. From the sounds of it, they should have replaced the whole thing. Carol, those pillows are beautiful. You are so multi talented. Judy, happy you got your new step. Now hopefully things will stop breaking down.

Otherwise nothing much doing here. Friend who is camping at the state park came over yesterday to see my porch renovations. She really liked it. I have the new flowerbeds planted. Will post a pic when I get the step painted and done. Sone of you asked for a pic of my new truck. Just had the new assist steps installed yesterday. Will get a pic for you soon as the weather allows.

Anita, now I'm discovering it's only some shows acting up. And I loved my laser printer. I replaced it because of the size of my first RV and I was trying to save space. Luckily I had good luck with that first printer I had in the RV, but the next couple were terrible. If I needed a printer more often, I'd definitely go back to a laser.

Cheryl, years ago on vacation I met a couple where the husband was a construction worker in southern Arizona. His regular hours had him working from 4 am to noon because of the heat. They had to work around it in some residential areas, but then they'd work other jobs first and those people had to wait. Made sense to me.

I'm seeing occasional cockroaches outside. Yuck. I just sprinkled garlic around the outside edges of the casita back there. I guess they dislike garlic and cinnamon so I'm hoping to keep them from coming in. Research shows they are regulars in the desert of Arizona. If they come in I'll call an exterminator. Since the heat is continually rising, I'm not leaving the door open like I used to.

Goodness, I don’t know where this day has gone! Seems a bunch of things happening but not sure what I accomplished! Walked Buddy, chiropractor this afternoon and just this and that, I guess. At least I did mow the backyard yesterday since we are due for rain in the next little while with more tomorrow. I’ve been a bit under the weather the last week so haven’t accomplished urchin. Today was the first day I felt okay to walk Buddy. Poor guy, he really needed it so it was mostly a stop and sniff walk with some training thrown in. He isn’t good enough yet to walk on the treadmill and I didn’t feel up to working with him on it. Need to get back to that. Cheryl, good that they’ve finally started working on the repairs needed on your new home. Sue, wonder how much of our rain is coming from your part of the country? It’s like we have a couple of days of rain and a nice day thrown in every so often! I think I’ve decided what I want to do out front in the beds. Think I’ll rip out everything and go with some shrubs that don’t require a lot of work. And probably mulch around them. Now to just do it! Beth, I hate roaches! Luckily I haven’t been bothered with them here. Pat, hoping the second half of the year brings you better health. Judy, it must feel good to not have to go in and out your driver side door! Karen, your own sweet strawberries! Bumper crop next year, for sure! I’ve noticed some wild strawberry plants where we walk but I’m sure the birds will get to them first! Or whatever other critters like them. So I guess I should decide what I want to fix for dinner pretty soon. Of course I didn’t pull anything out of the freezer this morning so who knows! Hope you all have good rest of your day.

Did all of you who talked about your printers, like the laser printer because it was more reliable? Or something else? I am going to ditch the awful one I have even though it is less than two years old. Was not thinking about laser printer, but maybe I should.

Judy, it was very reliable, lasted forever. You have to be ok with only printing in black and white. Printer ink lasted forever as Karen says it still does.

Sharon, roaches love the heat. So you'll probably not see them unless you bring them in. I just did more research and discovered they don't like lavender either. And it's a plant that likes the desert, so I'm going to put a potted one on my porch. I usually see one when I take Ty out the last time of the night. It scurries away quickly, but I'd rather it head elsewhere. I plan on heading to Walmart tomorrow and they have small lavender plants, so I'll start with one.

Had a fun time at Bunco. I of course didnt win anything but had fun anyway. Now I am home, changed my clothes and just relaxing with the dog. She is always so excited to see me whether I have been gone 5 minutes or 5 hours, same reaction LOL
Not real hungry as we always have a dessert at our games halfway thru. I have that casserole I made but had a bit of that for lunch so dont need it again. Might just have some veggies for dinner and a shrimp cocktail as I have a bit of shrimp left.

This is my first laser printer and I have had it now since I moved in here after the fire. All I can say is I will never go back to the ink jet printers. It is cheaper to buy another printer each time you need ink ha ha My cartridge is super easy to load, connects immediately to my wifi, and prints super fast. Cartridge lasts almost forever but the best part is if I dont use it for a while NOTHING dries out!!!! I can scan and/or print just no FAX which is fine as I dont have a land line anyway. I usually am printing out a recipe or directions or a form of some sort.

I have a few shows to get caught up on so now is a good time to do that.

But laser printers are much bigger than inkjets, right? A new one will have to live in its original box under my dinette seat.

They make smaller ones now more so than when I was looking 20 years ago and again 20 years ago. Heck, I just did a Google search and Walmart has a small one on sale for $79 or $89 (my memory LoL) that could almost convince me to get a printer again. And I just learned there are color ones now. Probably would be expensive and ink wouldn't last again, though. And I doubt that would come in the smaller category.

You are so right Cheryl it could have been done ages ago... but glad that they are doing it in a cooler type of the day.... I sometimes wonder if we stopped thinking or reasoning things went bye-bye... surely the guy that complained should have realized what needed to be done but then again perhaps his wife is sick and he just didn't think...
I think if I was going to get a printer I would look into a lazer printer... Larry was the one that used the printer more than I did and if I wanted to I yelled to him for help...
I haven't really printed much since...
nurse came today mom slept pretty much the whole time she was here... I had to run to the store for a few items!!! few is the operative word... but it didn't happen... but stayed under 100 went to the nursery got a few plants so perhaps tomorrow I will need to go out and plant one of the planters.... hopefully got enough for the section that I got them for....
and my pampered chef stuff came.... I was worried as dd didn't know that just in case the delivering company takes them to the post office needs to have the post office box number on it somewhere... like first name box number last name then put in your street number ect... if it's not there and it gets to the post office it immediately is returned to sender so now I don't have to worry about it... need to find space in the freezer for frozen fruits so I can make some smoothies hopefully mom will enjoy that it will also make jams and jellies
soup will have to read the book for it...
had hot dogs for supper went all out for it
you all have a great day

The ADHD clinic I go to is so screwed up all the time! Last week I got a call from one of the office girls saying my Dr wouldn't be in the office this Tuesday (yesterday) but I could do the appointment by video call. I haven't done that before but told her I would try it. The original appt was for 9:10 and the new one was for 10:00. Later, she called me back saying she was looking at the wrong day and that I could still come in for the 9:10 appt. I notice I was getting reminders all week for both appointment times so I called them on Monday and told them I needed to cancel one which they said they would. So yesterday, I go in for the 9:10 appt and was told he was NOT in the office and I would need to come back at 10 for the video call from there. So I killed some time at Walmart and came back at 10 for the call. I was also having problems between that office and my regular dr's office getting a copy of the EKG I had done last month sent to this ADHD dr. He asked for it again. So since my reg Dr's office isn't too far from there, I drove there after my appt and got the copy of it and brought it back to him. What a waste of a few hours and gas!

Didn't get a lot more done yesterday than that, but I did get a few things done today. Will get more done tomorrow hopefully. I really need to get the house and deck all cleaned up for David & Julie's visit. Then I need to go thru each room and get rid of stuff. I did that 2 years ago and got rid of a ton of stuff, but after 2 years, I have accumulated a few things and need to downsize again, but don't have nearly as much to go thru this time. I want to get this place back on the market for sure by August 1st, if not sooner. I am lowering the price by about $10K. I just need to get this place sold!

I brushed the cats today and got enough fur off them to make 4 more cats! And I didn't even brush them all over (before they let me know they had enough!). Will have to do it every day for awhile until I get all their undercoats off. I find clumps of fur all over the house and am tired of picking up all the "fur-bunnies" everywhere! I remember when I got Sophie a year ago and she was losing so much fur I thought something was wrong with her! Just that time of year I guess for shedding.

I also have a love/hate relationship with printers! I am limited on what printers I can use with my Chromebook tho.

I finally got my SNAP card (for food) yesterday (of course, right after I went grocery shopping!). It is a debit card and I have $339 on it for most of May and all of June. Each month after that, I will get $200. Hopefully, I will get an unemployment check in a few weeks. :? Things are getting tight right now. I think Amazon is gonna request a welfare check on me since I haven't ordered anything for awhile now! :o

Gonna try to get to sleep before midnight tonight...

Just checking in to say HI. I am tired of living alone. Spending enormous amounts of time searching my options of which I have several. Our o’cast sky’s continue. Still sitting on the couch reading. Lyn

Lyn, living alone can be hard, especially if you are not in an active community. I know you are a very friendly person so I can imagine it is hard to be there alone all the time. I hope you can find a better place to be more social.
