Sunday June 2nd

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday June 2nd

Last night the power went out about 3:00 am. Something woke me up when the power went off and about 10 minutes later it started storming. It only lasted a little while. I looked at the radar on my phone and there was a big area North and East of here. I couldn't find any news reports so went on a Facebook page for the Parish. People were reporting damage like it might have been a tornado. The weather people aren't calling it a tornado yet but there were some houses destroyed and a lot of wind damage. All of that is only about 15 miles to the Northeast of me. Someone posted a picture of a camper trailer on it's side. It looks like there are several miles of power lines down, poles and all. My power came back on about 5:00. We need a break from the weather.

Yesterday I went to Walmart and I have never seen so many cars at our Walmart. I don't know what's going on in the store but the parking lot is also full of the big storage containers. I decided I could get what I wanted at the pet store next-door to Walmart and the local grocery store. I wasn't fighting that mess.

I didn't take anything out to cook so need to go dig in the freezer and find something. I'm trying really hard to use up what's in the freezer. They are predicting a bad hurricane season and I don't want to have to evacuate with a lot of food or lose it.

Good morning to all - was going to post yesterday but forgot. I did remember to say Rabbits - only because a couple of days before I stuck a post it on my bathroom mirror to remind me. Probably did the last of my walking outside - weather has decided it is the middle of summer. Going to have a few +110 days this week, and it only cools down to low 80s at night. So even going just a sun rises it is already in mid 80's. I've walked over 100 miles in wetlands so far just this year. Bill had more good days last month than bad so hope the long Covid keeps getting better. When he gets up he never knows how the day is going to go. Hate that for him. On his good days he did a lot of cooking, made about 8 quarts of spaghetti sauce and lots of chicken milenesa to freeze. He also has ridden his stationary bike, our son put it together for him. Now he just needs to make ridding it a habit. I'm still sewing throw pillow covers. Now doing a summer like set. I did get him out to the wetlands one day for a mile walk.

Have the front of another one done, Need to decided if it will have cording or ruffle along the edges. Then I'll probably start on fall ones. Trying to use up some of my material.
I'm tired a lot lately, not sure why. Yesterday I vacuumed the bedrooms and kitchen and ended up taking two naps! Thank goodness our son sends his maids, he owns a cleaning company, every other week.
Take care every one with the crazy weather out there.

Good morning. Carol love your pillows, sure wish I got even a touch of that "artsy fartsy gene". Oh well I am sure it is too late to start now....beside not much interest in that sort of stuff for myself. Love to admire it tho. Yours are beautiful for sure.
Martha thank goodness you are safe and have your electric back. I bought a portable generator last year after Pacific Power shuts our electric down if there is any risk of a wildfire starting. Got tired of that BS It is only a 2350watt but I can power my freezer, tv, micro and coffee pot LOL Just cannot turn them all on at once. The freezer I worry about most (well coffee is first) Then I can add what I need to use. Works very well too. So even if I never use it I have it if needed.

Just puttered around the house this morning tidying up. Henry has done his thing in the family room and living room. After he recharges I will have him do my bedroom, bathroom and dining room. I want to wash my kitchen floor so will have him do that too later today. He csn do the other end of the house tomorrow. Cloudy, rain sprinkling off and on this morning. We are supposed to get more this afternoon. I am taking today off. Going to just continue my "sloth afternoon". Will see what kind of weather we have tomorrow before I make any plans. This weather makes me want a bowl of soup so I am making some LOL that and some Texas toast will work for me.

Martha, I'm glad your electric outage wasn't a long one and hope this weather starts getting better for you. Carol, I love those pillow covers, especially the top one. Those colors are wonderful.

Anita, have you been enjoying planning your non-RV travels? It sounds crazy in my mind, but since deciding to drive to SD, I've planned my routes and made a couple reservations. I've made reservations for the couple nights on the road to Texas this fall. Me who loves to wing it in the RV, am enjoying planning this out. And I feel like I found a neat cabin in the Black Hills so booked two nights instead of just one (the price was really right that I almost booked three!). I'm going to find out if I can handle overnight a night here and there in the car, or possibly a small tent, too. Luckily, Ty will be happy as long as I'm there. Weather should be good for that. On the way back from SD, I have one of the basic KOA cabins booked for a night. Heck, it's cheaper than most RV spots now.

Not much more to say. I'm still working on eating all my freezer foods. It won't be any problem even as I buy new things lol. I want variety and now the freezer is getting boring.

Guess I forgot to get on here after checking in at the motel in Staunton VA yesterday!

Martha, scary weather! Sure been a lot of it this year. Beth, the worst thing about non-RV trips is remembering everything you need to take and then lugging a suitcase around! :D I have a master packing list.

I get back on the train this afternoon.

Anita, your train trip is reminding me of a trip I took about 20 years ago. I left Oakland, CA on the train going north through Northern California along the beautiful coast and through Oregon and to Washington. Stayed overnight in a hotel there and headed east across the northern states ending in Chicago. Stayed in a hotel there and enjoyed walking the city where I spent a lot of time during layovers when I was a flight attendant. Then got onboard again heading west through the Plains states. I was thrilled when I noticed the train went right through Galva, Illinois, the small town in northern Illinois where my mom was born and grew up. I had been there once on a summer trip with my family when I was 6 years old. The trip ended up back in Oakland. Wonderful trip. Hope you continue to have a great experience.
