Mid day Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mid day Tuesday

We did the electric meter readings today. If the office gets everything they need done, I'll deliver the bills for my rows tomorrow. If not, Thursday. I told them I'm good with either day. I got lucky today because I had my row and one other. I did mine first, finishing at my lot and came in, drank a large glass of water, relaxed a bit then off for the second row. Usually we can start doing them at 9 am, but with the floor work and extra days out of the office they suggested not picking up the lists until 10. That one hour sure made a difference temp wise. But I've got over 8000 steps in already so will easily get over 10k today. And I've been bad several days so this is a good thing.

I did pick up my extra mailbox key (that I kept with my casits keys in the office, so I'm good getting my mail. If my keys don't show up this week I'll check with the post office on what I need to do to get another key.

I left a message with Fleetwood this morning, but did not get a response until mid-afternoon when they sent me an email. The mechanic will call me to ask some questions about my leaking problem and to suggest a solution. Luckily, it is not a big leak, and it only happens when I drive or leave the water pump on all night, so I can survive. Will just have to remember to turn water off unless I am using it. I headed back east to the campground I had planned to be in for the next two weeks, so the leak can wait. I do need to get someone to fix my steps, however. Am going to call Fleetwood in morning to ask where the fuse is for the electric steps.

I have been buying rugs like you see rolled up at Walmart or Target to put under my chair in my living area. The rugs are cheap, but the plush mats down fast and they get dirty and are not washable. So, I have been thinking of using carpet tiles. I found some today that I liked at Home Depot, but the plush ones came in only two colors--beige and a black and dark brown version which looked ugly. So, I picked up a box of the beige ones with the thought that I could easily replace the ones that I put my feet on that get matted and soiled fastest. They are 18" by 18" each and come in a box of 10 for $71.00, so I bought one box and put them down tonight. Here is my evaluation:

- You are supposed to clean the floor before putting them down, which I did. Easy.
- The directions assume you are putting them down in an entire room, which I am not doing, so their instructions to use chalk lines are not helpful.
- I started along the edge of my floor just behind the driver's and passenger's chairs in the cab, and ended up putting down three across.
- The instructions say to take off the plastic film on the back, and place tiles next to one another while pushing back the plush threads so they do not get stuck in the crack between tiles. This is easier said than done. Needed a couple of extra hands, but did best I could.
- Also, it is not easy to line up next tiles so that they are tight against the ones you already put down. This is fairly easy if you have only one or two tiles, but when you start a new row, it is hard to line everything up with two sides, while simultaneously keeping the plush threads out of the now two cracks, and do this while they are sticking to the floor!!!
- I did have to keep pulling a tile up and repositioning it to keep the cracks as thin as possible. This is not too hard to do, and was worthwhile doing. The tiles did stick adequately even after being pulled up and repositioned, even a couple of times. However, you can still see the cracks between some tiles, though maybe with time, it will not be so noticeable. I think it would be better if I had used contrasting colors, but as I mentioned, the only other color was really ugly.

I need another box to finish the one end, but I think that is OK. I will probably cut a couple of tiles in half so they do not overlap with the throw rug by my door. I also want some extra tiles to use to replace soiled or worn ones. Overall, I think it looks a lot better than the 5x7 rug I had there.

I went to town this morning to see about a CD that matured. The new rate was 4.5%. I told them I was going to close it because I could do better in Lafayette. Then she tells me they have a 6 month CD that pays 5.5% like it’s a secret and do I want to do that. Well YEAH.

I stopped at the local grocery store to pick up a lunch. They have a couple of new employees they need to light a fire under. The girl working in the deli acts like I was bothering her. The one that checked me out was more interested in who was coming in the front door than checking me out.

It started storming after lunch and rained the rest of the afternoon but I only got 3/4 of an inch. About 6:00 the radar showed that most of the rain was past but the wind started blowing like crazy. It blew the cat carrier off the front porch. It beat up the roses pretty good and poured half the sugar water out of the Hummingbird feeder. I should have taken it down but didn't think about doing that. We have more rain coming starting Thursday. The days are going to be off this week. Today feels like it should be Monday.

I have a tag with my name and cell phone number on most of my sets of keys. Of course, I wouldn't do that with a post office box key or house keys. It would be a mess to replace all the keys for my motorhome. The dealers have made it so expensive to replace a vehicle key. I don't have any house keys on the vehicle key rings.

I wish I could get in 8,000 steps. I'm doing good to get 3,000 because of my foot. It is feeling better but if I walk Luna down the road it aggravates it.

it's been an interesting day... not sure what to think about it... when I gave mom her thyroid pill she said that we needed to go to the bank today or tomorrow.... I said why? she said something about the letter that I forwarded on from the bank and something about too much money in the checking account... :? I said I am not following you.... then she said she wished that brother would go with her .... (what am I chopped liver???  ) so I go in and call my brother to see what in the world was going on... if he could shed some light on it... the only clue he had was he had her some some paper to hopefully get a rebate on property tax but we won't know until fall on that (it's close to 10000 a year) so any rebate we can get is worth signing up for.... he said tell her that he will take her when he comes next... hopefully she will forget it by then... imagine she has by now....
then I was reading scriptures when she came to my room jabbering about some meal that she had tried a gourmet meal and she tried everything and seemed really perplexed that I didn't know what she was talking about guessing it was a very vivid dream... then I heard/saw her nudging open her bedroom door with a bunch of stuff on her walker seat... still not sure what she was doing it was stuff that was on the dining room table (it's more a catch all can't remember the last time it was used to eat on... we have another table) not sure where to put some of the stuff want it handy but her cupboards are full guess I ought to box up some recipe books that never get used make sure that they are ones that truly won't be used and then use that shelf for the chips ect... it's just convincing myself to get up and do something sooner rather than later...
her nurse came today guess she will be the primary one... when she first saw her she said don't want that one at least that is what I thought... but she seemed to be accepting later and even joked with her... I am wondering if she thought she was the NP that really gave her a talking to so she would sign the DNR... I wasn't there but .... just really hoping we all will get used to the additional people in our lives...
like I said a weird day
you all have a great day

Good late night!

Haven't gotten a whole lot done the past couple days, but I decided yesterday that I had to cut the cats claws. They were getting SO long and sharp! It is always a huge fight with both of them to get that done and I end up with scratches and bite marks and don't usually get all the claws clipped, after all that! However, yesterday they both decided to be perfect angels!! :o It took all of 5 minutes to do both cats and all 18 claws on each cat! No biting, fighting, hissing, or scratching! Amazing! Now, I need to brush each one to get all the loose fur off that they are shedding now! I constantly feel like I have fur in my mouth! It is just everywhere! I have one of those Furminators that really pulls out the undercoat easily. Need to do that in the bathroom so it is easier to clean up the fur afterward.

I did a haircut this morning. I am getting the customers from the lady here to went to live with her kids out east due to dementia coming on. Every little bit helps!

Also finally made banana blueberry muffins. I have had to toss out really rotten bananas a few times because I didn't get around to making the muffins when the bananas were at the right point of over-ripe. They turned out pretty good.

I talked to my SIL today too. She wants to bring David out here for a short road trip in June. So I will have to finally get my rear in gear and get this place cleaned up for that!

I didn't get to the unemployment office this morning but will go tomorrow morning instead. I didn't sleep well last night so I was too tired to get up early. Tomorrow I also have a couple errands to run, and PT to go to also.

I have an old very large (16 X 20) photo on cardboard of my grandmother's family on my mom's side. It was probably taken around the late 1800's. My grandmother was only about 5 or 6 in the photo. I really don't want to hang on to something that large so I contacted a cousin who does a lot of family history and she said she wants it. So I need to find a sturdy box to put it in to ship it to her. My great-grand parents had 9 kids. I think some of them ended up in Missoula, MT, so if I ever get up that way, I want to look up the family name and see if they have family in that area still.

My grandmother is the one in the middle in front. They all look like zombies in this photo! My great grandmother's name was Mayastina. A combination of Maria and Christina. Very pretty name!

Sheila, your mom pays almost $10K a year in property taxes? How much land does she own? My dad's house was on a large, highly taxed lake property in MN and his weren't that high.

I am rambling so I need to get to bed here....
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Loved that picture Barbie. Glad your cousin wanted it. I had some old pictures, not very many, that I had saved of my family. I wasn’t interested in doing genealogy. My Grandson’s wife was gathering infor during that time, so, I gave everything to her. Then, she and grandson got divorced. Many of their possessions got jammed in a storage locker. My Grandson said he would look for them IF the storage shed ever gets cleaned out!
