It's Saturday!

No one has opened this, so all must be busy out gardening. A garden is really the only thing I miss from my old home. (Except maybe washer and dryer.)

Just wanted to point out a really fantastic movie that has been running on TV lately, but you can probably get from your library or elsewhere. It is Miss Potter. It is about Beatrix Potter who wrote the Peter Rabbit stories in the early 1900s. She did not want to get married, and her mother wanted her to stay home anyway to take care of her. The problem was that her mother had very strict rules for her behavior, such as taking a chaperone with her no matter where she went. At age 32, Beatrix was used to staying all day in her large bedroom-studio in the house and drawing the animals she saw in the garden. Over the years, she became a great artist and started writing stories about them. Ended up getting them published, making enough money to enable her to be independent of her parents, and falling in love with a man who died before they were married. OK, I have not really given away the plot, but she ended up moving to the Lake District and donating 4,000 acres of picturesque farmland to the government. It is now a national park!! And her life does end happily! There are also some good books about her life.

I did another load of laundry today. Sheets and towels. Dried on the line in no time and put away. I've been snacking to much and today is no exception. Mostly healthy but I've purchased a few less healthy items. Slapping my hand and saying no more of those. Haha. I usually have 3-4k steps in the morning. Just over 2 today. Not a good start with the heat. Mornings are the best time and I should be doubling up, not cutting back. Best paid laid plans ...

Good afternoon. My friend left today, was a fun visit. Short but none the less fun. Washing bed linens, Henry vacuumed, cleaned up the umpteen toys Emma thought to scatter around today ha ha She had fun playing with her dog too. We went to the Plant Warehouse and she bought several plants to take home and was going to plant them today. I got a few more flowering plants so think I am good now. I also bought some blueberry plants. Never grown them before so this will be a first. I was going to only buy one but found out you need a couple of different varieties to pollenate is best. So came home with 3 ha ha ha
Martha so glad you are all well there. I saw the weather in your area yesterday morning and was hoping you would come out unscathed. Anita is off on her trip that sounds fabulous. Sharon is trying to work between storms. We are having very decent weather here now. Not too hot and no rain. Might get a shower Tuesday but we shall see. Just finished lunch a bit ago and now going to make the guest bed, clean up the kitchen and relax.

Judy, thanks for posting about the Love's RV Stops. When I was working I was always in a hurry on my trips and this would have come in handy. I seldom made reservations and just drove as long as I could and looked for a campground. Back then you could do that.

I'm so glad I didn't go camping. Inky, I'm sorry you are sick but thank you for making me stay home. My friends said that there was just tree damage at the campground but they were out of power for a long time. The weather man says we will have 10 days of no rain. Not sure I believe that. I got an email from my brother and he's complaining about the rain in Canada.

I didn't do much today. I haven't been getting in my steps either. My foot is still bothering me. Most of the time I don't feel it and out of the blue it will burn like fire.

I thought about going down to the pond but the mosquitoes would have carried me away. I probably need to spray the weeds again.

It is late here but I haven't been on here for a few days.

Had my interview with unemployment. I was so nervous that I got a little confused a couple times with what she was asking me. I won't know the outcome for up to a week or so. I did fax her a copy of the text messages between me and the GM from Great Clips.

I got a neighbor to help me get the swing up on the deck the other day. Fits perfect! Now I am thinking about pulling the carpet in the porch and replacing it with new carpet. But that will have to wait until I have more money coming in. I got rid of the cat pee smell from the deck but I can still smell it so there must be some in the carpet in the porch. I let some of the stray cats in there last year during the hurricane for shelter and had 3 of them come in at different times, so maybe one of them sprayed in there. I know it isn't from my cats.

I did a haircut yesterday and another one today so that helps some. I decided I need to not buy my Propel water anymore in order to save money, so I am refilling those empty bottles with plain water that I filter here. Not very tasty but free.

I found out about a small group of ladies here who go to the main pool every morning at 10am and walk the perimeter (in the water) of the large main pool for exercise. The whole pool is only 3 ft deep so a lot of people do laps there too. I think I will join them next week and try it out. It would probably be good for me to do. The lady I did the haircut on yesterday is on the putters league and is 97! She is very active and in good shape for her age! She is real spunky too! She is the one who told me about the pool walking group.

There is a local teenage girl in Indio here who is in the top 3 of American Idol. The final show is tomorrow night so I will have to watch it. I haven't heard her sing yet but she did a local concert here in the town park last week.

It has been extremely windy at night here for the past week. And very windy tonight again. Will be in the low to mid 90's this week and in the low 100's next week. Martha, glad you survived the big storm the other night. They can be scary! I would not want to be in a camper/RV during a bad storm! I would be in the campground bathhouse at the first hint of a storm coming! Besides being blown over, a lot of people get injured or killed by trees blowing over and landing on their rigs.

I got the floral decals on my jean jacket and now I need to put on some rhinestones for a little bling. Won't put too many on. I don't want it to look gaudy or overdone.
