Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday dinner

Yes, I just finished my dinner and will make Ty's shortly. I'm going to have to convince everyone here I'm not a constant joiner. They are being so nice but it's driving me nuts lolol Luckily I already had food in the air fryer when someone came by to tell me they had just ordered pizza.

Late afternoon post for me. Was busy all day it seems. Just little things but still busy work. Sorted out a couple of cupboards, cleaned my bedroom, Henry vacuumed I dusted and changed the bed linen. Then moved on to the kitchen and prepared my veggies for the week. Trimmed the asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts and cauliflower. So all set for a while. Finished up the veggies from the pot roast and then will freeze the rest of the roast. I am not a huge meat eater so I just ate the veggies this time. I can make a meal of veggies. Not much of a fruit eater but did buy some raspberries and blueberries to munch on the other day so I better get munching.
Beth I know what you mean about being a joiner. I'm not either. The neighbor and I trade things once in a while but not on a frequent basis. If I bake something I often take them some. Mary will bring me some soup if she makes a batch but it isnt a daily thing, that just wouldnt work for me LOL
Barbie how did your showing go today. I dont think you need to have your house pristine at all times, I know I sure dont. People know you are living there so I wouldnt stress about that as long as it is picked up and clean. I am sometimes the "clutter queen for a day or two". I dont even know how that happens but my kitchen table seems to be a magnet for "stuff". Most of the stuff ends up in the trash anyway so dont know why I just dont put it there in the first place.
I am going to go to the Farmers market in the morning IF it is not raining. We have a fairly decent one. In fact we actually have several locally. I also like the one in Sutherlin just north of me, it is on Thursday afternoon 1-3 I think. 7Feathers casino has one on Wednesday afternoon and then there are a couple of smaller ones around. Sometimes they have a few things I might want. Like a good bread or loaf of something. They have really good scones too but I am really limiting my sugar intake when possible. My big treat is a Blended Hazelnut Mocha in Sutherlin, sooooo good Just a little coffee stand right next to a chain coffee stand. Those people dont know what they are missing. I just might have to go to Sutherlin on Thursday and hit the market and the coffee stand. She is only open until 3pm so I will get one on my way home.
Time to turn on my heated throw and settle in for the night.

I finally got my act together today and instead of watching TV and working on some small tasks, I got moving and drove to a local state park which is on the beach--John McArthur SP. Parked and took the shuttle over the boardwalk that goes over the lagoon and onto the beach. Mostly I just walked around and then sat on a bench without really getting onto the beach. There was a perfect breeze and sunny skies, so it felt good to just sit and watch the ocean. Spent about an hour and a half, and then headed to Trader Joe's to stock up on frozen stuff. I get really tired of eating my own cooking, and they have lots of good frozen things in single servings. Good thing I forgot their egg rolls, however, because I could barely stuff what I bought in the refrigerator and freezer!! I do like the little ice cream cones that are filled all the way to the bottom. They are very small, so just right for a quick ice cream snack. Will have to buy more next time because I have already eaten 2 out of the 9 in the package!!

Then home and got set up. I had been having problems backing into campsites recently because the mirror I had replaced several months ago, was loose and would not stay focused where I aimed it. I did not know it when I replaced it, but I really should have bought a new arm, as well as the mirror at the end, because it was cracked. I had taped it, but yesterday, I dripped some superglue into the cracks, and it is holding much better, so backing up is a lot easier! I use my backup camera, but mostly rely on my side mirrors.

Tomorrow will be cooler, as was today, so I am going for a walk on a little path I discovered. Last couple of nights and tonight are supposed to be in upper 50s, and with strong winds, the mosquitos have been reduced, so it feels safe to walk in the woods for a change. Been watching the several gopher tortoises that live in this very small campground, also. When they want to go somewhere, they can really move!

PS - I like to chat with people, but I also am not a joiner. About 15 years ago, my California son took me to see some over-55 little houses, and I really liked them. They were about 1,100 sq ft, and two bedrooms and two baths with a one car garage--perfect size. Patios in back with small spaces for a few plants, but when the salesman started talking about bingo, potlucks, trips to the casino in a bus, and such things, I about lost it. Told my son, I was not ready for those things and was pretty sure I would never be ready for weekly bingo and such organized events for "seniors!" Maybe I will change when I have to settle down someday, but I fully understand people who prefer to not participate in senior activities!!!! :D

I didn't do much today except make oatmeal cookies this morning. I used some oats my sister gave me and I think they would have been better with Quaker Oats. I would like to give my son some but don't want to go to Lafayette. All the standing in the kitchen and mixing made my back hurt. Now that I think about it, it was probably walking around with a 2 gallon weed sprayer that hurt my back. I think tomorrow I'll go mow. I need to spray the driveway so I can see where it is.

The mosquitoes are bad again. I saw the plane that sprays pass once and heard it twice. I hope that helps.

The weather man says we will have 88% darkness from the eclipse. I wonder where you can get the glasses? I'll have to ask that on google, they know everything. lol

There is a locally owned coffee house in Abbeville that I have heard has good scones and sandwiches. I have never been there but sometimes when I pass they have a line all the way around the building. I seldom get coffee away from home unless I pick up a sausage biscuit at McDonald's when I'm on the road. They are getting ready to open a Starbucks about a block from the local coffee place. Bet they are not happy about that.

Judy, I'm with you on the senior activities. I hate casinos and can't stand bingo. The club I belong to use to have a bus trip every year. After a few trips with about 45 women on a bus I was through with bus trips.

Martha you asked about where you could get glasses for the eclipse and I had sent this list to some friends and my brother who planned to use a welding mask. I live where the Eclipse will last the longest and I think it is going to be a traffic nightmare! Several places are giving the glasses away but the ones below are supposed to be reputable companies according to the Eclipse.org we have a lot of trees but really don't want to look anyway except when it gets totally dark.I happened to be at an eye appointment and got my glasses there but I would think Walmart or a pharmacy might have some.

"Will welding mask work for eclipse?
You can safely look at an eclipse through only some welding masks. In particular, NASA says that welding masks with welding shade numbers 12 and higher provided sufficient eye safety for viewing an eclipse. However, the rating scale goes as low as 4. Standard welding shades are from 8 to 13."

About viewing the eclipse - I don't know if this is actually true or not, but my back East son said you can safely view the eclipse by looking at the reflection from a dark tinted car window. He said the reflection in the window is perfect. Anyone ever hear about this? Would sure be simpler and cheaper perhaps and my SUV has nifty dark back seat windows.

I can't find viewing a reflection from a dark tinted car window but I did find this ". Many believe that viewing the sun's reflection off a body of water or piece of dark glass or metal automobile hood is safe; it is not, for the sun's reflected light can also cause eye damage" I don't think I would be willing to risk my vision by taking a chance. Some people plan on using a welding mask but unless it is rated a 12 or above it is not safe. My brother was going to do this until I sent him the rating nformation The glasses here are mostly free but I think checking who made them is important. I paid $2.00 a pair at the eye doctors office I go to. I'm still not going to watch except maybe at totality as it will last over 4 minutes here.

I get very frustrated when the post I am writing just goes puff and is gone. That has happened to me twice recently. I’m sure I’m causing this to happen, but what I do I have no idea!h
Interesting about joining groups to play bingo or cards or just socialize. I do not care for anything like that, never have. Is it because all of us are independent women and happy with our own company? I am happy to see my neighbors when I am leaving the building or entering. Saying “hi” is enough socializing for me.
A big storm has arrived today. All the Easter Egg hunts have been canceled.
Other than that life continues on mostly same every day.

For the partial eclipse last year, I got my viewing glasses at Lowe’s. I think they were about $2.99. I’m glad I saved them for the upcoming eclipse.

Regarding socializing at 55+ communities, we have a ton of ongoing activities here during the snowbird season, but no one is obligated to do any of it if they don't want. You can be as social as you want here. I know quite a few people who don't do any of the activities here and no one bothers them about it. Some just pick one or two things to take part in, and some are busy all the time. There is no pressure to participate which is nice.

Lyn possibly what is happening is you submit what you wrote about the same time someone else does... and unless you catch it it goes bye bye I try and look when I submit to see if it's been successfully posted if someone else has it will say something and right now I don't remember what but you can always go back down and re submit your post..... hopefully some one can explain this better than I can I do know that if I don't look and I go back looking for what I posted it will sometimes not be there but someone else's will be
