Last Saturday of November

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Saturday of November

Postby Colliemom » Sat Nov 25, 2023 8:58 am

Morning all. 22° and clear skies this morning. Winter storm Cait is heading my way. 2-4 inches maybe. I’m right on that line between 1-2/2-4. The weather service uses I-75 as a dividing line when they make forecasts for the western or eastern side of the northern lower and I-75 runs past the end of my road. So I always joke that if I don’t like the forecast for the west side, I can go across to the east side

So today I’m going to run the vac and then get the Christmas display out front. . Need to attach the cable clamps I use to hold the stakes to the back of the cutouts and then measure the length of the stakes and determine which ones to use on which cutout. They are garden stakes. The kind you use to hold up tall flower stems. With the steel rod coated in thick plastic, they work great. All I have to do is position the cutouts where I want them and just hammer the stakes in place. They just slide down through the plastic cable clamps. Need to cut some scrap pieces of 2x6 to set the figures on as the dirt in the flowerbed is about 2 inches below the edge. So will have a bit of assembly this morning and out they go.

Stopped by Meijers yesterday to pick up some lettuce and tomatoes and a couple other things. Place was really busy. People out Christmas shopping. There weren’t any Black Friday specials but there were markdowns on seasonal clothing and other stuff. People were just walking around, browsing and buying, some like me, grocery shopping. Sales are also starting in Christmas stuff too. I too think a lot of people were shopping online as Internet was slow here too. I need to order a pair of boots as I’m sending back a pair I ordered a while back and just now had a chance to try out.

Sitting here jabbering isn’t getting my vacuuming or craft projects done, so best get with it. I’ll post pics after all is said and done.

Good morning. Nothing much going on here except I dont think I had a reaction to the RSV vaccine. I got the shot on Monday (arm was sore for 2 days...normal) Thursday I felt achy and headache, Then got a runny nose and sneezing. I think I have a good old fashioned cold. I took a Covid test last night and it was negative, just wanted to make sure., Altho not much would change. Will just treat it like I usually do, Mucinex, Benadryl, fluids and Motrin/Tylenol if needed. No fever,
So today will be a pajama day LOL Nothing planned. Got lots of groceries so I am good to go. Going to have my breakfast and some juice, then cover up with my electric throw and kick back.

I'm falling into my old ways of staying up most of the night. I didn't go to bed until 3 am last night and so I'm glad to have been awake since 9, but wouldn't mind going back to sleep. I found a few trailers I was quite interested in this week. Don't ask me why I was searching on Wednesday, but that's when two popped up, and very good prices. I guess others thought so too as my favorite was sold within 3 hours!!! Yesterday the 2nd fav sold. So I'm contemplating contacting the third one and seeing about going to take a look. I guess I'm not the only one looking! A part of me has decided to wait another year before doing this, but then I argue with myself lol

I have to quit complaining about the weather. If I compare with any place else I'm still glad to be here. So time to quit my bitchin' !!!!

Good morning Sue, Karen and that check in!

Sue, it's mighty cold over in your neck of the woods. Karen, please feel better soon.

It is 67 degrees at the moment and we hit the low 70's this afternoon. Yesterday was raw and damp and we were only in the 50's all day. Tomorrow we may be a few degrees warmer.

Friends from church are coming to join us for our Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey is on the Big Green Egg and almost everything else is made and some will need to be reheated. If the winds would die down, we might be able to sit outside for awhile.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Good morning from cold Vegas. 9 o'clock and 43 degrees out, high this week will be mid to low fifties. Freeze warning for next few nights. Am hoping to go walking sometime around noon. The sun is warm, air and wind cold. Just put in a big order for Walmart to come tomorrow morning. Hopefully by Monday all shopper will be done. Want to go to Barnes and Noble to see if they have a good book for the new Photoshop program I had to get. I don't do well with utube, want to be able to open pages and refer back to them.
Time went by so fast this year in some ways. But daily it seems to be dragging cause we are doing nothing. Got letter from Insurance and new eye drug is for sure approved.
Just checking in,.

Hello!

Thank you for posting about PhotoShop. What kind of problems are you having?

I have PhotoShop Elements 9 on my computer (I think Elements is up to 12 or 14 by now) and I use this program on an a daily basis to process photos of my hand-made jewelry for my Etsy shop. LOL. Taking photos, processing photos, and posting the photos is my LEAST favorite part of my jewelry making hobby.

Anyway, Elements 9 really struggles to run with Windows 10 (it worked a lot better with previous Windows versions). I am constantly getting "notices" from Microsoft that it is time to upgrade to Windows 11. I am pretty sure that with Windows 11 my (legal) copy of Elements 9 will be kaput.

If you have the time, and are in the mood, would love to hear your insight on your new PhotoShop version.

Thanks! :D

Good afternoon from cold PA. It was all of 21 earlier this morning but now showing 36 with wind so it definitely feels colder. Buddy and I really need to get out for a walk since the weather isn’t looking good tomorrow….more rain forecasted. At this point I would almost welcome snow! Almost! We had a nice dinner at my son’s the other day, not often we have all 4 grandkids in one place. GD appearance has obviously changed but was good to see her up and about. Yesterday was her 2nd laser surgery so will see how she did with that. We are all grateful to just have her with us. She continues with her therapy appointments which I would guess will be ongoing for quite awhile. And it was good to see the other kids treating her exactly the same as did all of us. Buddy and I are going to have to find another place to walk since the road we usually walk is partly state game land and rifle season started today for deer. I tried on the orange jacket on Buddy last night but he’s to broad around his middle to be able to fasten it. Plus I don’t have any orange either. I think we’d be okay but figure it’s better to be safe than sorry. We have been walking more around the neighborhood but the buildings create quite a wind tunnel and I’m a wuss when the wind is blowing that hard in my face and legs! Buddy doesn’t seem to mind it though. I realized yesterday when I was out with him in the backyard that I for sure have to stay on top of him with his minding me. He is still testing me and probably will for awhile! I just have to figure out what I’m willing to tolerate here at home compared to what his trainers did while they had him. Just adjusting to home situation but still using what we’ve learned. All in all I think we’re doing pretty good. Not much else happening here, time to get serious about inside jobs now, can’t do much else outside. And so here I sit not doing much of anything! Time to get something done this afternoon. Beth, I’m one to stay up until the wee hours of the night too. Seems more so the last couple of years for some reason. Then I wake up earlier than I want because I think about getting Buddy outside and don’t go back to sleep even if I try so I just get up! Even not napping doesn’t seem to work for me! Okay, enough rambling for me. Guess at this point it’s stay warm or cool depending on where you are! Have a good day.

It is 46 and sunny here but rain in the forecast for tomorrow. Sharon I think you should ask Santa for a fence for Christmas. Standing outside waiting for a dog to pick just the right spot is no fun especially in the middle of the night. Sue I hope your weather doesn't get too bad! Beth I hope just the right trailer will pop up at just the right time. Maybe there is a reason for it not happening yet. Carol I switched to a Mac when one of the first versions of Windows was obsolete. I had very short adjustment period. I remember using Corel on Windows, it was so easy and you could add photos and resize very fast. Of course that went away. I use the Mac version of Word and Excel and the last time it upgraded it took me so long to do anything I bought an old fashioned ledger book with about 12 columns. Irmi you always make me hungry thank you! I forget to eat sometimes. Judy you posted the other day about bites around your ankles, I bet they were chiggers they itch even more than mosquitoes and last longer.

Toby is still coughing but not as much. He wouldn't let the girl who came out to give the bordatella vaccine near the car. I had anticipated that but it was the kind you give orally so she asked if I wanted to give it. He's good with taking medicine so I quickly had it squirted down his throat.

Monica had appointment yesterday for vaccinations, so I decided to go with and get Covid booster. I don't know if that's the cause, but I woke up achy all over this morning and tired. Hot shower, icy hot and Aleve so feel I can move a little easier. Pajama day here, too. I've always been a night owl! At this point in life, it doesn't really matter what time I get up unless there's an appointment.

Got my tree up yesterday and couldn't find the lights! Had a Rubbermaid with an old label on it and they were in there! Whew! I want the lights done right this year and believe it will be tedious! I've been watching videos. In the 20s at night, 40s during the day.

My first post when Ka-boom. I will attempt to remember what I wanted to say. Time to get the sweat shirts out.It was 46* this morning.
Sharon, I’m always interested in what treatments your GD is receiving. My nephew, many years ago (1962 I think) was badly burned on his face, back, arms and hands. Burn treatment in those days was pretty primitive compared to today. Is the laser used all over her body or on only certain places?7
I have been enjoying UTube A lot lately. It was on my iPad when I got it. So free. My question is, would I get more if I paid for it as the ads in courage m to do?
That’s all for today! Lyn

Lyn, I absolutely love YouTube.

SO much to watch on there!! Not answering your question, I guess, but I just have the free version, not the pay version. At least for now, most commercials can be skipped after a few seconds, so I always just have my remote handy to do that (I watch YouTube videos on my big-screen television set via my Roku box).

I have never had the pay version, I spend so much time already watching free stuff, I wouldn't have time to watch more (even if there was "more" on the pay version).

I think Karen had the pay version of YouTube for a while, maybe she will jump in here.

Not to rub it in or anything for you mid-westers and east-coasters. . . 8-) but it topped out around 72 degrees this afternoon here, very comfortable and pleasant. Usually in the high 50's now at night, maybe a bit lower (to a freeze) in a few days.

No rain in sight, unfortunately.

I just now finished putting Christmas lights on the outside of my house, as soon as I push back from the computer I will be putting my turkey in the oven. Maybe even fix a few side dishes.

Yum.

Well my fat fingers lost my post...sheesh. Oh well. Feeling better, not great yet but took a nap and still in my jammies. Nose is still stuffy and running but has lessened up so hope I am on the mend.

I had YoutubeTV when I cut the cable cord and liked it really well....but I paused it for the summer and then the strike happened so none of my shows would be back on for quite some time so I cancelled it. I dont pay for regular Youtube, I watch it on my tv, phone, tablet or laptop, and like Anne, I just skip the ads which dont even last long before you can skip them. Right now I have a few streaming channels that I pay for, Philo which I have had for several years no news no sports just entertainment. Netflix for the winter and Just signed up for Paramount Plus+ (CBS) and Peacock (NBC) I got the specials $1.99 a month each for a year. Most of my favorite shows are on Paramount + so I knew I wanted that. Roku has so many shows free so I really never lack something to watch. I also have Tubi, Pluto, ABC streaming channels....all free. I will cancel Netflix when summer gets here but for now I have a few shows and movies I like on it.

Going to have some soup and do more relaxing

I'm glad we aren't having really cold weather yet. It got up to 70 and probably won't be lower than 50 tonight. We are supposed to get more rain in the morning and I have the hospice lunch at 11:00. I don't know how many will show up since it's so close to Thanksgiving. I'll be glad to eat something other than turkey. I'm down to turkey and cranberry sandwiches.

I finally remembered to get some pineapple so I could make my green stuff. I'll probably be sick of that too before I finish it.

I have been a night owl all my life. Most of the time I don't have a problem going to sleep, I have trouble going to bed. It's not like I have anything that interesting to be up for. If I lay down with a book I will be out fast, usually. I just can't go to sleep too early or I will be up at 3:00.

Karen, glad you are feeling better. I am somewhat concerned about going to the Christmas campout with 50 women. I try to be careful and wash my hands a lot. It's my sister that usually gives me something.

Good evening gals,

Been a strange week. Each day my "steroid flushes" were less strong and are pretty much gone now. I worked the past 2 days without any problem and just a twinge of pain at the top of my butt cheek from my sciatica. That hopefully will go away completely altho it is tolerable now.

I am trying to type with Romeow laying on my lap! He has just recently started laying on or next to me lately. I am not discouraging it! But he is a lapful!

Thanksgiving dinner was kind of a fiasco to begin with. Just me being disorganized, losing stuff, and forgetting things, and having an anxiety attack in the process, just before dinner. I finally got my crap under control and took a walk outside to calm down my nerves before dinner was served. All went well after that. Met some nice ladies and the turkey was tender and fabulous. Was tired from all the earlier stress so I left before the band started. They are usually too loud for me anyways.

Work and WM were not nearly as busy the past 2 days as I expected. WM was almost dead today. I think all the Black Friday sales started a week or so ago so there wasn't any mad rush this year. Amazon is already doing their Cyber Monday sales. I haven't found much that is worth my interest or money. Altho, I went to the Christmas department at WM yesterday to find a wreath. I got rid of all my Christmas stuff last year because...well, I was thinking I would be on the road by now. I figured I would keep it simple this year with just a wreath, but I ended up falling in love with a cute little 4 ft tree. So that means I needed new ornaments, etc. So off to Hobby Lobby. Decorations are all pretty much picked over or gone already. But I got a few things on sale. I put the tree up last night with no ornaments, just to see how the cats reacted to it. No reaction at all. :? They don't even pay any attention to it. Am hoping once I decorate it, they will still leave it alone...(I hear some of you snickering!). I usually put my tree out on the deck but i will keep it in my living room this year so I can enjoy it more.

We have 2 new male stylists that just started and the three other gals have either quit or got transferred to another shop. It is a revolving door there with stylists lately!

I have the next 4 days off. Need to do some cleaning up around here. I would like to go to Joshua Tree one day and check that out again. Was there a couple years ago with Linda. Want to pick up my Golden Pass too. The weather has been in the 70's so far and beautiful. Will be a little cooler this week but no complaints!

Have a good night.

I also am a late to sleep person... and it seems to be getting later I know the cause of it,,,, before Christmas movies came on I'd go to my room at 11 watch one murder she wrote then go to bedroom no take that back two murder she wrote... but with the Christmas movie schedule they start here on the even hour... so a movie comes on at 10 because I'm watching it even though I know the end must finish watching it... and 10 is just too early to go to the room... so I get to the room after 12 and still have a set routine of stuff that I do which pushed turning out the lights later... dumb I know ... and if I was on my own I'd not worry about setting the alarm and getting up but need to get up and fix breakfast for mom
Sharon I'm glad that your granddaughter is being treated normally I would imagine that it's really hard on everyone...
I stay in pj's unless going somewhere longer than probably wise as I lay on the bed to read my scriptures and trying to work on the shrug... again if I need to go and do something things change but pj's are just more comfy than jeans so today I was up about to fix breakfast when I heard someone come into the house I thought wow nephew got back early only it was the brother I called him the other day to see if by chance he would be in town because mom said she need to go see him... so he came to see her ran the snow blower visited a few... was glad to see him come...
so wasn't much of a do anything day but that is ok
I think I am getting the hang of the pattern for the shrug and if I wasn't so slow perhaps I'd get it done quicker...
Irimi how was the turkey in your cooker??
you all have a great night
