Wednesday before Thanksgiving

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday before Thanksgiving

Postby Colliemom » Wed Nov 22, 2023 9:16 am

Good Morning. 34°and cloudy here at the 45th. Nice morning after yesterday’s mix of ran/snow and freezing rain. First day of winter type driving this season. That combination made the roads slushy in the morning but later they were mostly wet with slush between the lanes and on shoulders. So one just needed to be aware. I did go to town later in the morning. Picked up my Turkey dinner for tomorrow, ran into Walmart and then to Meijer for some shopping. We do have patchy snow on the ground and light snow on roof tops.

Karen, glad you got your leak taken care of and thanks for the link. Ordered mine and also checked the expiration dates on the ones I have. Good for 2 more months yet. But will get the newer one as well. Judy, just because one gets a Covid shot does not mean they won’t get Covid. Seems like everybody I know, who have gotten shots has had gotten Covid. It’s just that the shots hopefully keep you from getting an extremely bad case. My neighbor got it in their Alaska cruise, he didn’t. Neighbors across the road picked it up on a vacation to NY. She was really sick too. He recovered way before she did. All of them had gotten Covid shots. She still isn’t feeling good. But she’s negative. Actually I think they have had it twice. He said tbe other day, they had to wait for the third booster because they had gotten Covid. Some of it may be due to the shots wearing off after a certain period, thus leaving you susceptible to it. This current Covid one is only good for this upcoming winter roughly from what I read.

Barbie, glad your shot seems to be helping. I liked the picture of your nurses. So cute. Velda, enjoy the fall colors. They can be amazing.
Irmi. Turkey in the Green Egg sounds good. Steve has become a regular BBQ cook in that thing.

Read so much on here from yesterday, my mind is blank, Siam going to sign off, jump in the shower and run to town. Forgot to get shipping tape and decided to send a pair of boots back I ordered. So off to get some and drop the box off at the PO. Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning, light rain falling here but it is 42 out, high will be 53 and cloudy all day. No biggee for me. I checked the carpet in the office and it is drying out slowly. I turned the fan off last night and will turn it on in a bit. Heat is on and the vent is right next to the dampness so that could be good. Furnace is right on the other side of the wall so that should help. And my dryer is next to the furnace and vents underneath the house so that might help too. Wont know if I have any major floor damage until it all dries. Tyson seemed to think it will be okay, we shall see. He said no big deal he can fix it if I have a problem. Love that boy!!!! I did tell him he might want to lose my number ha ha he said no way. I will need to give that part of the carpet a good shampooing once it dries, glad it is a variagated color.
I have been really lucky since I moved here and getting help for various projects. Finding people, and their availability was the most challenging as I bought this house right after the fire and it was the height of Covid. Glad my insurance company had me staying at the Hilton Suites while all my renovations were going on. I just was 100 miles away. But I was grateful I had a place to stay and cook. They would have paid for a year or more if needed until I got housed but I was so ready to get out of there and have a home again. It is still a work in progress but one thing at a time.
I am not sure what I will be making tomorrow but since it is just another day to me I will see what I feel like. Today I am going to make chicken enchiladas with the sour cream and chicken soup sauce. I add green chiles and jalapenos....and of course cheese. These freeze really well and I need to use up the rest of the roasted chicken. And I dont want to make soup LOL
So off to get this day started and another cup of coffee

I used my slightly outdated Covid tests and took one this morning and it shows negative. It also mentioned on it's paperwork that if the control line shows up it's still a good test. And that showed up clearly. So I'm feeling less nervous. And now I'll make the dish I'll take to the Thanksgiving dinner in a little while. It's been lightly raining all morning. I managed to get Ty out when it was very light for a bit.

Karen your enchiladas sound great. I pulled a freezer bag out yesterday marked fajita. I wish I had details on exactly what I put in these because they are so yummy. At least I have enough for lunch from them today. I actually ate it more like a wrap in a tortilla heated in the air fryer. I may do that more often.

Sheila, did you make the potato soup? Now I want it, lol I'll have to buy the O'Brien potatoes for the next cool damp rainy day.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve ladies!

It was 71 degrees when I got up, we topped off at 81 and we have a cold front moving through which has already dropped the temperature back to 71. We'll be in the 50's tomorrow morning

The resort is putting on a mid afternoon meal for all the residents, supplying the hams and turkeys, and everyone is asked to bring a side. We'll be taking a green bean casserole.

The cold front just dropped a mild shower over our area and it's still very overcast. Tomorrow is going to be at least 10 degrees cooler than it has been. We went to the hardware store in town to get a bag of the large charcoal chunks for the Big Green Egg for our Thanksgiving on Saturday. This evening I'll be making shrimp scampi for our dinner.

Have a good Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Good evening gals.

I didn't go to work today because i was afraid I would have another 'steroid flush' incident like last night. In the afternoon I still felt OK so I ran to the store to pick up a couple things. When I got home, I started feeling crappy again. Still don't feel great, flushed face, headache, etc. I don't feel much like eating either. Supposedly this is only supposed to last a few days.

The hostess for our table asked me to bring some rolls so I picked up a package of Hawaiian rolls. Love those!
Dinner is a 3pm tomorrow. Hope my appetite is back by then!

Am tired, so I will go to bed early tonight.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I finally remembered to vacuum yeah me!!!! did so a couple rows on the shrug hoping I put the right count got it to measure correctly and because she had a odd count tried to stop my addition on a odd number so far so good... will know when I get through the first three rows I think ... now it says it can be done in a day my question is did she do any thing else during the day???
No Beth I didn't although now I have all the ingredients I think not sure about the cheese though although I guess I could use this one I got that is now I can't remember the name of it but it's one of the "melting" cheeses but it's also has dill on the outside of it so would have to ponder that a bit... the cheese starts with an F I think I looked at the time and thought that is an hour so what did I do but buy pot pies and how long do they take???? yep same time but while the oven was heating I was able to get the groceries put away... it will happen probably this weekend really do appreciate your help
#3 dd is going to pick us up in Wilson need to get up and put the ham in the oven to reheat then do something so it stays somewhat warm when I get there think I'll make the salad think it will be easier to transport than doing it here I just need to remember all that I was going to put into the salad should write up a list
according to the computer it is light snow out there at 33 degrees
I sure whish I could figure out what is causing the odor when I open the dishwasher and even worse when it first starts was going to get one of those things you can put through the disposal and see if that helps but the store didn't have it will need to check one of the other stores... well check Albertson's wish I'd thought about it would have asked dd to go to Walmart and get me a pkg a few days ago. she has panic attacks and Walmart is a trigger the best of times the day before Thanksgiving just didn't think it was a good idea
you all have a good day enjoy what ever you choose to do on Thanksgiving day
