My name is Penny...

Come on in and say hello.

My name is Penny...

Postby Penny » Tue Jul 14, 2009 12:19 pm

Greetings fellow women RV Travelers
In December 2006, when I retired from the US Forest Service I purchased a 2005 Winnebago View. In 2007 I took my 86 year old mother on a 4 month "around the USA" road trip... from Seattle, Washington to Galveston, Texas and Key West, Florida to Delaware... crossing the USA twice. Tornedo Alley made me a little nervous.
I am an independent, fit 60 year old, physically active, outdoor loving college graduate. My husband has not yet retired. I am looking for womenRVers to do trips with... rondeavouz or convoy, collaborate and share supportive information. I am based in the Washington/Oregon corner of the country.

Welcome to the forum. The trip with your mother sounds wonderful. It was great that you got to do that with her. I only got to camp with my mother a couple of times and she didn't care for it. Was always worried about the other people in the campground.

I live in South Louisiana and had to join the Texas Chapter of RVing Women to find women to camp with other than my sister. We like to fish so when she gets a long weekend off we go camping and fishing. My husband doesn't want to camp or travel. I have a son that lives in Seattle and I drove my motorhome up there in 2007.

There are some members in your area. I am sure they will chime in when they read your post.

Hi Penny, welcome to the great world of our little forum. We are a great bunch of gals with unique personalities and lots of humor! I'm in Southwest Louisiana and haven't yet made it to your Washington state, only as far as Oregon, so maybe one day. When I joined they told me to jump right in and I took it to heart and haven't shut up yet,  I always believe you get back what you put in, so I now pass it on and tell you to go ahead, jump right in, the water's fine! OH, and by the way, the Sistah's here, LUV pics, just to warn ya! :P

Welcome to the forum, Penny. Always nice to meet new people. I'm based in Kerrville Texas but am currently workamping in Silver City New Mexico. I so envy you your trip with your mother. Mine passed away long before I retired and started traveling but she would have LOVED RVing.

Welcome..... I to generally travel with just the four pawed type of navigator..... My husband had never seemed that interested in traveling so I bought a 22ft MH that would accommodate myself and the animals. My daughter was good enough to accompany me on one of my first trips! We learned a lot...! I haven't been able to take off on any large adventure but am hoping to be able to in the future. I have stuck around an provided support for my father as his health failed at 92 and it seems that I am now in the phase of supporting my stepmother who is beginning to face some serious health issues..... I like having the MH parked in the driveway. I reminds me that future adventures are just down the road and I will get there after these more present adventures........ Jump in and share. I too like the idea of finding others that are interested in traveling together...like the Alaska group. You are not glued to any "group" every minute but you know that there is back up and support for you if you need/want it!

Penny - I think you have found a goldmine of good people here. I'm not yet certain. After all, I just joined this past Tuesday. But I have already found lots of warm welcomes. We can enjoy being the newbies together.
