Misty Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Misty Sunday

Postby JudyJB » Sun Nov 12, 2023 2:22 pm

I slept in and then started packing outside stuff away to make it easier to leave tomorrow. Stuff is crusted with salt, so I filled fresh water tank and then hosed everything off--picnic table cover, chair, stool, and even the hose itself before I put it away. Still waiting for the chair and picnic table cover to slightly dry.

Came inside and started to fix something to eat for lunch, but heard a cracking noise as I opened refrigerator door, and then the whole door fell off!! It has a lot of stuff on the door shelves, so I suppose it was overloaded, so the bottom hinge completely broke. What a mess. Went outside and asked next door neighbor to help me tape the door back in place. He came inside and focused on putting a lot of duct tape on bottom latch, then we put it in place, using the upper latch pin to hold it. Finally, when door was shut, the handle latch kept everything in place. I added more tape along the top hinge and sort of tried to tape it more to the upper part of the door. The good news is that I can access the freezer, but I can only open the bottom door a couple of inches, and am afraid to do that, so not going to open the bottom even an inch unless I absolutely have to.

So, sitting and relaxing now. It is cloudy and working towards rain off and on this week. Temps still in 70s, but will be hotter as i drive south. Going to call a Camping World that is on the way and then call Dometic and have them Fed-Ex a new latch to me. I think I will ask them to send me both a top and bottom one, just in case.

Exciting way to start the day!!!

Oh, Judy, first I'm hearing of this happening. But everything's bound to happen sometime. I'm so glad you had a neighbor willing to help and you're taking it in stride.

Ok, I will say, I've had enough rain for awhile. I have no idea what our accumulation has been, but I know we were at between 2 and 3 inches on Friday alone. And it only pauses temporarily. Yesterday had several pauses. Today's pauses have never been complete pauses. Ty finally went out in the best break of the day and peed and pooped and ran back home. I keep waiting for another opportunity but not yet. It looks like this will continue until tomorrow afternoon. My fingers are crossed that it moves out by mid morning before I leave for the dentist. I was hoping to spend an hour or longer in Mexico and do a few things like get my hair cut after the dentist appt. But that might just wait. It will clear up. And hopefully the mud on the paths to the canals will dry up so we can have more varied walks sooner rather than later. I'm lucky though. A few sites in the park have gigantic puddles. Mine has better drainage.

Good afternoon Judy, Beth and all!

Judy, reading about your fridge door falling off is the first time I've heard of that, but glad you and a neighbor have it put back into place until you can get new hinges. Hopefully they are a stock item. Beth, I hope the rain lets up soon. At least your site has good drainage. Barbie, hang tight and your place will sell. Anita, first I hope your brother will make it through, considering everything he's been through and the lateness of the last diagnosis.. Secondly, your manager at the apartment complex sounds so incompetent, but there seems to be a lot of that going around sadly. I read all the posts daily and try to keep up with all of you.

It's much cooler in central FL than it has been. We woke up to 70 degrees this morning and right now it is 73 and very overcast and slightly breezy, so it's much cooler than the mid to high 80's we've been having. Our church celebrated Veteran's Day today and had several from the parish carry in the flags for each branch of the military. We had a good turnout for that followed by a potluck lunch.

We have to pressure wash our sites one a year and I had a flare up from a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder from trying to help Steve. So I guess I'll watch him do the rest. On a good note, today is much better than yesterday.

I have been considering another RV, but being reminded of all the issues that can happen, I think that's not a good fit for me anymore. Not the way to start the day for sure, but I'm glad you had help, Judy!

It's been pretty quiet as the upstairs neighbors have been gone this weekend. Friday evening at 7:30, I got the day's emails - guess they were hung in cyberspace. After letting manager know the e-mail she sent my daughter was missing something, she told me how to do it. She was hoping it would get done Friday because they will start having cars moved off the property or towed Monday! I was livid! Then found a 2nd e-mail that she had sent problem to IT because the email was incomplete - isn't that what I said?! And that my vehicles wouldn't be towed this weekend. I may be a fixture in her office until this is straightened out after she and her boss have dropped the ball multiple times!

Kids haven't mentioned Thanksgiving which is fine by me although I'm sure they will, but Karen thanks for the shopping reminder! I need to go to Safeway for produce. Time does get away from me! Beth, you have really had the rain! Ours comes and goes, but there is a bit of snow in the mountains. I just learned one nearby ski resort makes snow for their runs! Irmi, sorry you are having a flare up.

Need to get the hand dishes washed and then hope for a good Seahawks' game!

Good afternoon. Not a bad day today at all. Cloudy but lots of sun breaks. Got all my do-ahead meals in the freezer. Having sauteed cabbage and beer sausage for dinner as I need to use up the cabbage and there is alot of it left for some reason ha ha I like steamed cabbage or pan fried. I even sliced it and roasted it once in the air fryer but the outside got very done but the inner part was still crunchy. So since I didnt want the outside burnt I just finished it in the microwave. So I wont roast cabbage again. Will stick to my favorite Brussels sprrouts in the air fryer...so good. Even the cauliflower is good roasted. Will pop an acorn squash in the air fryer to bake also. Not much else to do today except peruse recipes and watch Youtube videos on painting my bathroom. Dang I lead such an exciting life.

If any of you watch Dallas's football game today- at halftime, the very tall (6ft8in) Marine, carrying the American flag, is Nick Keller, a very good friends grandson (grandpa Roger and I dated in college).
I'm not able to get the game, so I'm out of luck, but Roger is putting up photos as he gets them.
Quiet, sunny day here. Supposed to get some rain, sometime this week, but I'll believe it if I'm standing outside and my head gets wet!
Have walking to do.

First thing I will do tomorrow is call Dometic about my refrigerator. In looking at the hinges more carefully, I can see that there is a metal pin on the refrigerator itself, and a plastic part on the door that slips over it. I cannot tell if the door comes apart, but it looks like the plastic part is part of the door, so I might need an entire door!!!

Second thing I will do tomorrow after i leave this place is to head to a Walmart and buy a cooler of some sort and a bag of ice. I can open the refrigerator door about 2-3", just enough to get my arm in and grab a few things, but I don't want to do this very often or it might fall off again. And I need the door on so I can run the refrigerator to keep the freezer stuff frozen. What I plan to do is empty everything from the refrigerator, put the door back on (it is heavy), and then tape it closed until I can get it fixed. Will use the cooler for stuff in the meantime.

And I think I have had it with staying on the beach. The humidity is so high that when I run my AC, the windows get fogged up. In addition, my floor feels sticky because it is a bit wet from humidity, which is 90% here tight now!! It will at least be a bit less humid in St. Lucie.

Will also stop at Blue Beacon and get some of the salt off this vehicle. I filled my water tank and then washed off the picnic table cover and my chair outside, and even washed off the hose afterwards, and put everything away. Will at least have to wipe off electrical hose because it is encrusted with salt.

Good evening gals

Had a rough day at work. I was working with the new girl again. The morning went OK, altho I had started my 4th haircut while she was still on her first one. But then it got really busy. I sent her to lunch and when she got back it was still really busy so I couldn't leave for my lunch yet. She had a young girl in her chair that just wanted the bottom of her longer hair trimmed straight across and a side bang. I figured I could take lunch when she got done with that cut. Well, for some unknown reason  , it took her over an hour to do that haircut! It would have taken me 10 minutes. So by the time she was done, we had a lobby full. I was doing three haircuts to one of hers. I never did get my lunch. By 3:15 I was turning away customers because I knew we weren't gonna get done before 4 even with the 2 customers we had left. By 4 she was still struggling with the haircut she was working on. The kid's father wasn't happy with the haircut so I started working on it. It was a mess and took awhile to just get it to look somewhat decent. I finally told the dad that if he still wasn't happy with it, they could come back tomorrow and get it worked on some more by the manager.
By that point, I hadn't had a chance to sit down to rest my back and I had a bad back spasm that just about brought me to my knees! I finished getting the shop closed up and headed straight home. When I got home I left a message for my manager. She called me back and I told her I refuse to work with that gal anymore without someone else working with us. I told her I have to take care of my back and I can't work like that again. She told me she understands and has had problems working with her too. She has talked to the GM and owner about it but they won't do anything about adding a 3rd person on Sundays. To make things worse, she said the other older (my age) stylist put in her 2 week notice yesterday. :o The only positive today was that I made just over $100 in tips. Did well yesterday too. I had to fix a really jacked up haircut on a woman yesterday and assumed it was cut by one of the two new stylists. I was shocked to look it up and find out it was last cut by my manager! She is really good with men's cuts but apparently not so much with women's cuts.

I am going to call the GM tomorrow and tell her what I told my manager. Maybe with 2 of us complaining about this situation, something might get done. Or not. :? But I will not work alone with this girl anymore. I also need to ask her if I am getting docked a half hour for my lunch I didn't take. CA has a law stating that anyone who works 6 hours or more, has to take a full 30 minute lunch, no exceptions. And owners will get in trouble if that doesn't happen. So I hope they aren't deducting a half hour from my work time (ie; paycheck) to keep that from happening. If so, that will be another serious discussion...

I am so stressed out tonight and my back is still really sore, as is my shoulder and my feet. I am too old for this crap! I just want to sell my house and hit the road, before my body tells me I can't. :(

I have a ton of things to do tomorrow so I am going to bed by 9pm tonight so I can get a good night's sleep. I am really exhausted!

Judy, I hope you can get your fridge door replace so you don't have to replace the whole fridge!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Didn't do much yesterday but eat and visit. I never did hear what the total number of women at the campout was but it had to be close to 50. Most of the campouts with this club are in Texas and the newer members are from Texas.

When I headed out this morning I went by the lake and winterized the camper trailer. It wasn't too much out of my way home and I won't have to go all the way up there if it freezes. Didn't get home until 5:00 so didn't get much unloaded. After all the hype about rain all I got was 1/4 inch. Supposedly there is a 90% chance of rain tomorrow. Beth, hope your rain heads this way. The radar shows green all around me but none here.

Barbie, hope they get your work problems straightened out.

I need to decide what or if I'm going to cook something for Thanksgiving. I might just get a turkey TV dinner. The small football looking turkey roasts are a good size for one person.

didn't get my nap today but knew that would happen went to church after church some friends stopped by for a visit then I fixed us some lunch first time I've done bacon in the A/F not bad didn't oil the rack though probably should have just didn't think of it... so did some BLT's then read scripture's then I started the stew
did something different this time.. not sure if that is what made it as good but it was really good stew.... I made cake for cake and dip for some reason the dip sugared not something that happens often.. irritating when it does... there wasn't any buttermilk at the store and didn't want to stop at another store so bought some powdered buttermilk .... I don't like the texture of the cake as well... and of course biscuits most of the meal turned out really well actually all but the cake and dip and it was that they just weren't what they normally are... but the kids like them oh made a salad was really good got the recipe out of Woman's World I think it was more the dressing made it but I really enjoyed it and we ate the whole thing...
my dd didn't stay evidently her brakes are vibrating so just rode over with her sister and brother in law another week I guess
Barbie it sounds like she still needs to go through more schooling hope you sell your house soon for your sake
Anita what about a park model they aren't moving about a lot and have more residential appliances in them
Hope your back is feeling better Irmi
I think as I listened to the report on the Paradise town and their rebuild that some weren't coming back due to the high probability of another fire...
so Texas is getting lots of rain and AK is getting lots of snow and in between not much at least not in our area
you all have a good night

This is true, Sheila. Several friends through the rock club I used to belong to barely escaped with their lives, their homes burned to the ground.

They left Paradise for good after the fire.

They are rebuilding Talent and Phoenix where the Almeda fire (9-8-2020) devastated so much of each town. I see new apartments, houses, mobile homes, businesses being rebuilt. They are restoring Mountain View Eatates where I lived but they still have lots of work to do. Moving in new homes all the time. BUT they are now costing around $225+ with the cost of the home, setup, landscaping fencing etc. I wont ever go back because it will never be the same as it was. Only a few people have returned the rest are all new people. I loved it there but I would definitely be house poor. I like to visit my friend there, that does it for me. I am liking Roseburg much more than when I first moved here. I am finding my way around much better and I do have very good neighbors. I dont have any friends here but that is okay. I get to visit with a few of my neighbors once in a while. I have my winter projects coming up so that will keep me busy.
