It’s Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It’s Sunday

Postby Othersharon » Sun Oct 22, 2023 1:21 pm

Good afternoon all! It’s a chilly and windy day here in central PA. My driveway is yellow but with the wind it’s useless to try to rake or blow the leaves! So hopefully we’ll get a few nicer days so I can get outside. I was inquiring about Covid vaccine yesterday afternoon at the grocery store figuring I would have to make an appointment but much to my surprise she said she could do right then! So I took advantage of it. I don’t usually have much of a reaction to them other than just feeling a bit blah so today’s a good day to be blah! Was happy to hear from Lyn and sorry for your problems with meds. Hope Shirl decides to visit again but glad she is settling in with daughter.
BJ, update on Buddy…he’s been progressing and according to the trainer he turned a corner a few days ago with his focus and responsiveness. I go to pick him up this coming Saturday and will spend time working with trainer and Buddy. I think I need a two week camp to learn everything! Consistency is key with him according to trainer. So I can’t let us slide back into our “old ways”. Luckily after his stay they are available for advice and help whenever I need it. I was surprised that he was on a treadmill the other day! That was new! It’s been suggested I use one too to help burn off some of his energy. Might be a good idea with winter moving in soon. So, I’m looking forward to having him home. The house is just to quiet without him to talk to and have around. I at least get to see him on the short videos they post mostly every day. That’s about it on his progress so far. The sun just came out again! It has been in and out all day! Now if the wind would just die down! Beth, good you are making your way to your winter destination. Anyone know where Cheryl is now? Time for me to get a couple of chores done inside so hopefully I can spend quality time outside the next few days! Have a good day and upcoming week!

Good afternoon!

Sharon, glad Buddy is making progress! Just like having a kid - consistency. :) Cheryl is in Tucson for a few months.

Beth and Sandi, thank you for hearing aid replies. I have been using the speaker forever and that's still okay, but I want the aids set up. I had a couple of occasions with my brother calling recently when I was out and about so would have been easier to hear with the aids where there was noise. BFF called last night and I'm sure it's me with the new phone that it didn't work. Normally, I would ask her to work through it, but we were rejoicing over her son's liver transplant Friday so just wasn't the best time.

We have below freezing temps predicted this week, but the prediction seems to be different every day. About time for a football game.

Anita, I’m still trying to understand what’s not working. Wish I could help. I have to admit when I got mine at Kaiser they set them all up and installed the app on my phone. Because of that I’m really not an expert. The only things I’ve had to do is reconnect to Bluetooth a couple times. If I need more volume in noisy situations I can turn up the volume with the app on my phone. Did you get any written instructions and manuals from the company that made the aids? If you can provide more specific information on what your problem is, maybe I or someone else here who has aids can help.

Thanks, Sandi! I think it's probably me and the new phone. After I talked to BFF last night, I found a new to me button I had pushed in error. If I don't get it figured out, I will contact the audiologist's office.

Slept in, as usual, and spent a lazy day, other than making some bread. I've been making small loafs because they freeze easier, and make easier to eat sandwiches. The ones in the oven have about another five minutes, and then I am going to make a sandwich for my dinner.

Hot today, high of about 85, but tomorrow and the rest of the week, we will be in upper 70s. No wind today made it a bit muggy, but OK. Got an appointment tomorrow for my flu shot. I have waited as long as I could, but end of October was my goal, and it is almost then. Done with vaccines for another year, I think.

Glad Lyn checked in.

No, everything's not bigger in Texas. It's a dinky Eiffel Tower replica. Notice the light in front of it in the pic is much taller lol

Long day. I was on a gravel road for a bit and made a wrong turn, yes my bad, that ended badly. Needless to say I'm glad hooking and unhooking the car is so easy. That said the multiple turn around I had to make with the RV took longer. I survived and still made it to tonight's destination with plenty of time to spare before dark. But Ty and I had bellies growling. So glad for the generator and microwave tonight. Lol

Anita, mine worked beautifully from day one. I've never used it with this pair so who knows. I shouldn't admit that. I wouldn't hate the phone as much. Maybe the next pair. It's close to time for me to update these bad ears again. I have to find a new audiologist though, and that's not as easy for me.

Good evening. Had a bit of a busy afternoon. My neighbor Mary and I went to the tenants meeting downtown. Found out a few interesting things and it was nice to meet some more neighbors. Then we went shopping to Marshalls, Mary wanted a new quilt for her bed, she found one she liked and bought some white curtains to go with it. I think it will look real good. She also bought a Christmas throw blanket. She is all about Christmas decorating LOL me not so much. What did I buy you ask??? not a darn thing ha ha oh wait yes I did. We picked up some dinner at Terriyaki Spice, it was super good. I really like that place, they give you plenty of chicken and lots of rice. I ate all the chicken and some of the rice and salad. I am stuffed now. It was fun to get out for an afternoon.
Have some phone calls to make tomorrow regarding my CD that came due on the 20th I have 10 days to decide. Going to have it deposited back to my account it came out of. Lots better rates out there so will do some research on that.

Beth I think the Eiffel tower looks kind of cute. I probably would have stopped to look at it too. Sorry you made a wrong turn. I did that once and had to unhook and rehook up my car. Another time I followed a truck at a truck stop and ended up in the truck wash lane. Had never gone thru one before so didnt even know what to expect and had not planned on it, but it was definitely needed. Sharon hope you and Buddy can get in sync, and yes consistency is definitely needed. Anita I have my hearing aids (when I remember to wear them) bluetoothed to my phone. The only problem is I dont know how to increase the volume for them when I am on a call. on my phone. I will figure it out if not will go see about it.

Good evening gals!

It was busy at work today but we did manage to fit in our lunches. I felt like crap all day but made it thru.

Am just laying on my bed relaxing but still feel crappy. My head is all congested and my ears are ringing loudly. No fever at all but I feel like I have one. Just achy all over and tired. Luckily, I have the next 3 days off with not much to do. Hopefully, this won't last too long. Am taking ZiCam and Manuka Honey.

The wind has picked up and is very strong right now. And the dust is blowing in! Got all the windows shut tight.

Will be going to bed early tonight. :|
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Didn't do much other than go to the Hospice Dinner. There wasn't quite has many people as last time. We were in a big room and there was another long table with another group so it was really noisy.

I went thru Paris, Texas one time. No time to sightsee, I was trying to stay ahead of a snow storm. Leave it to Texas to put a cowboy hat on the Eiffel Tower.

Sharon, glad Buddy is making progress with his training. I would like to see someone training a dog to walk on a treadmill.

Barbie, hope you feel better.

It was another 93 degree day. It looks like we might make it into November with no cold weather.

Just stopped by to say hi. On hearing aids, I got a new pair about a month ago. Don’t ask me how, but when I answer the phone, the person calling goes right into my hearing aids. I mean their voice, not them! They were expensive and I debated quite some time before buying them.
Glad Buddy is making progress.

That’s what I love most about my hearing aids Lyn. You made a good choice.

My hearing aids are connected to my phone as well so that's why I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong with the new phone for calls.

Karen, I wear mine, but since I don't watch TV until 8 p.m. or later, they don't hear much except me talking to myself. I mute all sports announcers.
