TUESDAY WITH RAIN

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TUESDAY WITH RAIN

Postby OregonLuvr » Tue Oct 10, 2023 9:21 am

Well we are getting a fairly good soaking of rain right now. I hope it rains all winter ha ha but it needs to give us a few days of sunshine here and there. Sure could help our fire situation next summer. We just seem to still have lots of fires even if we do get a ton of rain. We will be in the drought situation for a long time I fear. I will really try not to complain about the rain for a while ha ha The joke used to be Oregonians dont tan they rust!!! Well those days have been gone for years now. I definitely believe in global warming. I have lots of inside projects to keep me busy this winter. I want to start painting my bathroom and didn't want to do it when I could be outside but winter is a different story.

Not too sure what I will get into today as I can't finish taking down my garden in the rain LOL So will probably just wash the floors, clean the bathrooms, maybe change my bed. Going to put chicken in the crockpot for dinner and call it good. Tomorrow Emma goes to the groomer. I have a 9am appt so that is good. Most of the time I end up with an afternoon appt and it inhibits what I can get into before the appt.

Off to finish perusing the internet and second cup of coffee then will get busy.

Good Morning Karen. Raining here too. Has been for over a week with a dry day thrown in a couple times. Temps have been really chilly with highs in mid 40’s to low 50’s. As I write, this temperature is currently 45°, which was a high for yesterday. Bit of a warming trend coming later this week, but only in the 50’s, which is still below normal of around 62. The fall color is taking a besting between the rain and Wind we have been having. Hit and miss color this year. Seems like the trees are just turning and dropping leaves. I’ve already made three passes over my yard with my tractor to pick them up. More coming down. Sunday afternoon was a good day to be out doing that despite I being in upper 40’s. But I hauled out insulated ski bibs and Carhart insulated work coat and went to it. Perfect combination for this kind of weather. Both my one neighbor and I were out bagging leaves with our lawn tractors. This picture is only half of it, there’s more, mostly pine needles behind me out of the picture and over the fence in the backyard. And more up above

Been reading on here everyday and lots been happening. Martha, so sorry about Sugar. Velda, sorry to hear about all your medical issues and diagnosis’s. Certainly hope there’s an answer out there.

Molly has been to both vets in past week. New thermal imaging showing that inflammation around eyes has decreased but is still in the eyes themselves. Change up on the Energy Sync drops. Go back to that vet next month. Eye pressure check at primary vet shows right eye still low but left is improving a little. Only giving drops for eyes twice a day now which is making my life much easier Image. She’s been on blood pressure meds cause old vet tested and said BP was high. Thought that might be cause of eye issue. Tests at new vet showed normal. I asked for a check on Tuesdsy and it was a bit low, so she said stop meds. Will retest next Monday.

Went to Shipshewana on the Road last Saturday. Bought a couple things, one being a Diamond Painting kit. I’ve been intruged with it ever since I saw Carol’s. One neighbor was there and she bought one too. Her stepdaughter got her started earlier this year. That will be a winter project. Working on Christmas project for front entrance right now. Last of woodcrafts for awhile. Like Karen, I leave inside stuff go till winter. Have some little project and minor repairs, couple of jigsaw puzzles gathering dust in my one closet and am thinking about repainting two bedrooms and my bathroom. So will probably run out of winter before I finish

Just killing time here for awhile. Neighbors are taking me out to lunch. They are leaving for FL on Friday, so their way of thanking me for doing their drive and whatever else.

Karen, rain is good, but I remember the four months in winter I spent there in 2018-9 getting treatment for my CLL. I counted the days, and it rained all but 5 days from November to January, then we had that heavy snow that broke a bunch of huge oak tree limbs in the RV park and damaged about a dozen RVs. Most were parked under trees, but I had asked for an open spot so I could get satellite, so my rig was spared. When I left, I had to use bleach to get rid of the mold on the cab door frames!!

Today is laundry day, and luckily, I don't have to walk very far, so I had better get moving soon.

Good morning!

We keep getting predicted rain here, but no rain yet. Looking at radar we are a dry center with rain all around us. I've started getting new scam e-mails. The latest from Norton LifeLock. Company is in California, but the number to call with questions was Kentucky plus higher cost than what Norton actually charges! I used to use Norton Internet virus protection. I couldn't find any grammar or spelling issues like most. Now with most apartments rented, both the huge dumpsters were full so I've put off taking trash out. Saw the one dumpster had been emptied this morning and then got an e-mail the one near my building is locked. People kept putting trash out after it was full so company won't pick it up. Shaking my head.

Daughter obviously forgot she was going to cut my hair over the weekend so will get that done before I get hearing aids tomorrow. Report on sauerkraut soup - it was almost like a stew. It's okay, and I might make it again but with some changes.

Sue, that's a lot of leaves to clean up! Sharon, I hope Buddy's training is a big success! Martha, assuming you used a credit card for your Amazon order, I would contact whoever the card is through and let them handle Amazon. Just my 2 cents.

Managed to do a few things this morning. Not my whole list but that is okay. I started perusing Amazon because it is Prime Day today and tomorrow...scary thought. But so far I havent actually bought anything. Have a couple things in my cart that I am pondering but we shall see.
Sue you have so many beautiful trees but with trees come leaves. Glad you have something to pick them up with instead of raking ha ha Still it is beautiful.

Judy you were also in the wettest part of the state...always. The Willamette valley is notorious for rain. I was in the Rogue valley about 3 hours south of you and we had pretty good weather that year. We did have snow when you did but you all got dumped on. My friends were in that same park, they had a limb or two on their roof but survived with no major damage. I said I would go no further north than Roseburg just because of the weather. I lived in Portland for 34 years I was done with that kind of rain. Glad I moved for sure, especially now since they have all lost their minds up there.
Think "chicken in the pot" is done so better turn off the pot. It is smelling very good. Well since I had some quiche for lunch think it is time for my afternoon Mocha.

I had brunch with my friend Conni today. We didn't spend as much time as we would have liked to together, but it was so good for the time we did have. I did pick up orders from Sam's Club and Walmart. Sam's Club has spiced apple pie cookies, supposedly only for a short time. I bought two boxes. I'll share some here with coworkers and share some at probably our Thanksgiving potluck at the park in Texas. Of course I opened a box and tried one today. I'll have to be careful to not eat them all first lol. No more shopping planned before I'm down in Texas and the way my cupboards, freezer and fridge are stuffed, I shouldn't need anything but some fresh supplies for awhile.

I'm catching up on The Voice episodes. My favorites are the blinds, then I'm not always following every week. Right now I'm watching from last week. Then there will be tonight and tomorrow.

I have left overs from brunch/lunch which will make up my dinner. It was quite yummy, so I'm looking forward to it twice in one day. Usually I'll save for the next, but not this time.

There were people in that RV park that had 6-10" in diameter branches hitting their rigs, which caused a lot of roof damage. I had at least 15" on snow on my roof, but I found a young man who got up there and brushed it off with his hands because a shovel would have damaged stuff up there.

I told my oncologist that if and when I need more treatment and have to stay in Eugene for 3-4 months, it will NOT be during the winter! Other problem with winter was that for a lot of weeks, I had a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning appt at 7:30 am each day. I used a lot of Uber, so I had to wait out in the rain for them to find me on dark and rainy mornings. At least in spring and summer there will be more daylight!

It was a quiet day here. Did my walking and some laundry. Took a short nap, by accident , while waiting for son to return my phone he borrowed ( he misplaced his here in the house), and was working with Internet provider to fix an issue. When I woke, just after 5, it was raining lightly and is still wet out. Nice surprise on a day predicted 17% chance of sprinkles. I love the sound of rain, but not when it's bringing down leaves and turning the drive into a slip n slide! Hope Thursday when gardener comes, it will be dry so he can get leaves up.
Enjoy your evening!

I am back at my mom's house... guess one would say my trip is over... :( it was a nice trip saw a lot but didn't do a lot... saw a family and friends that is what I wanted to do... spent a week with dd in Utah... and on Sat all of my kids were together... that was so special... it's been a long time looking forward to March and granddaughter's wedding so we will probably all together then...
had rain off and on from Idaho Falls to Jackson... more that misting not enough to run the wipers the whole time but then they would streak shouldn't need new ones got them last spring and the car stays in a garage so can't imagine they are bad already.... it's chilly I need to find a new place for a couple of plants so the pellet stove can be turned on... not sure where that will be... and really need to take time and repot some plants one of my cousin has a plant similar to one of moms and it's pretty good size think this one is stunted it's always been in this planter... can't remember it ever being in anything else...
looks like we had some mice activity while gone one trap is gone not sure if the mouse took off with it or if nephew just tossed it away... I get a different kind that for me is easier to remove the mouse and set the trap but they also aren't as quick as some of them... I don't like mice I even like less to catch them... but I really don't like them dwelling near me...
had a weird e-mail today... read it didn't reply to it but something to do with my filling out an application for housing in some town in Nebraska think I will go to the bank tomorrow and talk with them about this as well as the e-mail I got the other day ... about if I don't act upon something my account will be froze that one was after I got an e-mail from the company that forwards my mail... some changes maybe going on in the state of So Dakota that might affect full timers.... so I do want to see if what was sent was correct... I haven't seen anything unusual on my bank account in regards to the application... need to also go to the post office and pick up packages... and empty up the car I only brought in the necessary things I think I even let my purse in the car... rarely lock it while in garage but did tonight... tomorrow will be busy
it's late need to go dispose of a mouse and find pj's perhaps read a bit....
you all have a great day

Good late evening, well, almost midnight actually

It is super windy out tonight with a dust warning. :o I hear things hitting the house, probably palm fronds. I have all the porch windows closed. Temps are still in the low 100's.

Work was pretty slow today which was fine with me! I got a $25 tip from a lady who loved her new cut! She came in with long hair and left with a layered wedge. I love doing makeover hairstyles on people. The "take a half inch off all over" cuts get boring after awhile.

I talked to my agent tonight and we agreed to lower the price on the house. We had it at $115,500 with 6 months paid HOA fees at closing. Now we will list it for $111,000 with no HOA incentive. So I am not really going down much from where I was since the paid HOA dues would have brought it down to $112,800 anyways. But it looks like quite a bit of a better deal. The only place here now that is lower is the hoarder house. The snowbirds are starting to come back now so will see what happens in the next few weeks here.

I have the next 3 days off. Need to get caught up on stuff I have been putting off. Also have a few haircuts to do tomorrow. I think I will need to order a new pair of glasses. I still can't find the ones I thought I left in my car (I took them off to wear my sunglasses while driving back from Idyllwild). I cleaned out my car but didn't find them. I am sure that once I order new ones, I will find them! The ones I am wearing now are an older prescription so am not seeing as well with them, but better than nothing.

I haven't looked on Amazon for deals but probably just as well.

Sheila, how did your mom do at your daughter's house while you were gone? Maybe you could go down to Q for a month this winter if they would agree to look after her that long. I am hoping I will be there this winter... :?

Have a good night!

Hi Barbie.

Whenever I read one of your evening posts I'm always hoping it will be the "Big News".

With the lower price and the snowbirds flying in, I'm thinking you will be on the road soon!

Thanks Anne! I hope you are right!

My agent asked what price I wanted to go to. I told him $111K because 111 is a lucky spiritual number meaning hope and new beginnings.
