Sigh! I only WISH I could use my new saw to cut some trees and firewood, but my ribs have to heal first!

Be SURE there are no steel (heavy-duty steel) bar stools tipped over around this campfire! I would hate to have to start all over healing broken ribs from here!

Everybody, including docs, are saying it will take WEEKS for my ribs to get unsore and healed enough to do stuff. I am NOT a patient patient!!!

What an unusual weather pattern we are having herein Ohio....but I like the 70's and low 80's. Made a quick run down to Raleigh, NC and dropped off puppy boy. Got a call regarding my step mother being readmitted to the hospital so I turned around and drove the 10.5 hours back. I don't think I will be traveling long distances for awhile. I had planned on traveling over to CHarlotte to visit with the daughter and camp a few days in some of the beautiful state parks in NC....it will wait till next time. The house is a lot quieter without puppy boy. He had a mouth on him and loved attention. Little girl is going by Izzy for Isadora Duncan the dancer. I'm not crazy about the name but it appears to have stuck and she is getting too old to keep answering to "pup pup" ...okay, they all answer to pup pup! That and "sup sup"! ...as in chows on. Well, I'll be the one running back and forth to the hospital. Will be checking in when I cn but won't have many adventures to share for awhile. Still thinking about getting over to PA in September, if life around here quiets down and stablizes...is there still room?

Haven't been sitting around the campfire much lately or reading the travel stories! My step-mother is/or was readmitted to hospital. She had fallen and broken her shoulder (same as the recent jet ski accident...) But what sent her back in was her kidneys. The just were not doing an better. She has kidney failure and had started dialysis, but still hasn't accepted that this (3 x/wk) will probably be for the rest of her years. She has C-diff infection that depresses her already non existent appetite and gives her loose unpredictable runs..... The isn't much extra weight on her for a reserve. Over the weekend, at my strong recommendation< her daughter flew in from NYC. Libby was helpful but for living 63 years she hasn't absorbed to much real life health and illness issues. I think she has a vision of her mother bouncing back and I kept trying to be kind but let her know that her mother overall has been getting weaker and weaker before these last incidents and there is very little bounce anywhere! Oh well, at least she found a flight in and was able to see her. BTW - the last minute round trip flight through Expedia from NYC to CIncinnati and back was less than $150. counting taxes. Of coursee the plane left at 6 am and I don't think Libby even went to bed by the time she finished up what she needed to Friday nite, packed aadn got to the airport early enough! Anyway, step -mother was transfered to a nursing home for rehab yesterday. B/c she would not accept a room mate at her first choice facility until a private room became available she picked another spot. The admission director called me last nite and said that she would have a room available today.... Long story involving a confused person (not me) but I am now trying to arrange to have her moved to her preferred facility. She said the staff at the one she is currently in don't pay any attention to her. (You know this is going to be a long recovery for her.....) I keep making notes that when the day comes I need to try to balance patience with assertiveness in some magic way. The over view of all this is that she has been very controlling of what she wants and has tried to distance family from herself...b/c she doesn't want us in her business, but at the moment she isn't able to concentrate, remember or think through issues. So I walk very carefully, remind her of what is when I need to, tick her off for reminding her...... My father was just the opposite, when he would get sick or that whole last year. He was still able to give us his wishes, often when asked, but his most frequent statement was, "Tina can take care of that, I don't want to worry about those things anymore....)

So, the campfire looks good this morning and I brought my own diet cola, to early for the wine stash.

A positive from all these adventure is that I met a fabulous woman from the senior independent living facility. She had ridden in the squad to the ER with my mother the evening she broke her shoulder. I told her I want her along on any future ER trips. She made the entire procedure more bearable and though my mother said that the morphine wasn't helping with the pain, we both noted that she didn't start singing the broadway tunes until after the morphine had been in her system a little while.....

Keep the fires and adventures going.

Have to admit, Tina, that this fire feels very nice this morning in all this dampness we have. I just moved my chair a bit closer, and have my warm coffee cup in my hands!

It sounds as if you really have your hands full with your step mother's health problems. She is very lucky to have you able to be there for her. It sounds as if her daughter has not much of a clue how to deal with things. Hope the fire helps you to feel more peaceful, as you watch the flames dance. Have a good day for yourself, in spite of all your obligations and chores.

Need a nice fire and some quiet time with the dog sitting beside the chair thinking they might get a snack! The last week has been hectic but I have enjoyed the last few minutes of reviewing the travels of other sisters and reading of the invite to the potential of travels in the future. That was just what I needed. There is light in the future, and as they say life is a river and it flows. I will enjoy what I can along these banks and look forward to the future scenery! Staying the same is not an option. Onward!

Love the river analogy, Tina, and, as Barb's signature line says, "GO WITH THE FLOW!"

Waiting for my daughter to show up for a visit, on my screened-in porch with sun all around! She is bringing lunch.....a surprise!

I will leave some dry wood for the fire for tonight, as I am sure it's been raining wherever this fire may be! Later........

I'm bumping this up.. don't want our fire to dwindle down...

Soos you're right about my saying.. that's why I keep it part of me.. I've been through so much in my life the best way to handle a lot of it was.. just "Go with the Flow" some things we have no control over...and for me...it worked out better..I just accepted some of the situations I had no control over ... Gives you peace of mind that's for sure..

Tina.. you've got a lot on your plate right now.. and plates do empty.. hang in there .. All of us are with you.. and can't wait to meet you too.. and that will happen...

Keep them logs going.. mmm looking to see where the goodies are hid LOL...

God Bless..

Good rainy day to sit around a sheltered (under a tarp) campfire, for sure! Cool enough to appreciate the heat up here, too, although it's now up to 61 degrees.

I'm leaving some kindling to make sure embers don't go out before dry wood can be added to this fire. Anyone up for some singing and strumming??
