Thursday Afternoon

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday Afternoon

Yea, it rained. I got an inch of rain starting about noon and it looks like more is coming.

Yesterday I went to lunch with my camping friends. We went to a relatively new restaurant. I ordered a seafood pasta and it was very good. I brought half home for supper. One lady ordered a fried salmon sandwich and she didn't like it. I have never heard of fried salmon in a restaurant before. Two ordered grilled chicken and they said it was a little dry. One ordered a grilled pork chop and it was so dry she sent it back. The restaurant was very noisy and I could only hear the ones sitting next to me.

I filled in the rest of the dirt where the water leak was repaired when I went out. Managed to get mud on a white shirt. I put it in the washer and hope it isn't stained.

Hi Martha & all!

Martha, it is about time you get rain with hopes you get more, but hope the mud stain comes out of your shirt. It sounds like the kitchen in the restaurant you went to needs to re-do whatever they're doing.

There was a managers meeting in the clubhouse this morning. Beth, I'm happy we attended because lots of our friends were there. She goes over what her plans are and wants to know what questions we have, which she answers. Later in the month, we have a POA meeting that the board holds.

We still plan on going to the garden center 100+ miles away to look for some things we're thinking about getting.

Tomorrow, friends of ours invited us to a crab feast! Can't wait!

I actually went for a ride! Rode up Icicle Road which is about 10 miles to a bit higher elevation. Some nice color, but also leaves that just died like Beth saw during her trip. Rivers are low. Stopped at Safeway to get a vaccine, but they are now appointment only. Plan B I guess. Picked up what I need to make sauerkraut soup - a new recipe.

Martha, so many restaurants around here I haven't tried and so many I have were disappointing. Irmi, crab sounds so good! Would love to hear from those who haven't checked in for a bit!

Martha, I'm glad you liked what you got! And I hope the shirt comes clean. That explains why I don't buy white lol

Anita, in the same about restaurants. I don't eat out often and when I do and it disappoints it makes going the next time harder. My GF Conni and I went to a local Mexican restaurant (I love Mexican food, so does she). I'd say it might be my least favorite Mexican restaurant ever. And low on Conni's list, too. The people I work with always recommend it, taking about how fabulous it is and I have to bite my tongue every time. It happened today and I just can't believe how they gush about the place. Oh well. I agree that crab sounds delicious. My sister had an ad for a local store with crab legs for sale and I told her I would have welcomed her splurging on them while I was there. Lol

It was a short shift today. 2 to a little after 6. We got busy at the end and since I'm opening in the morning I left some work for myself that I would have stayed and finished tonight because I'd feel guilty leaving it for someone else. Mornings aren't usually too busy, so I'd rather have it to keep me busy.

I, too, keep hoping to hear from a lot of the ones who have gone missing.

Good evening. I thought I posted but apparently I did not. Oh well. Worked out in the garden today. Pulled the green beans, acorn squash, yellow squash and zucchini. Fut back some of the tomatoes I know will never ripen and I dont like fried green tomatoes so out they went. Garbage comes tomorrow so I have a big bag in there. Didnt have much garbage this week thank goodness. The rest is in a pile to dry out and shrink so I an put it in a bag soon. Then will finish pulling the tomatoes out. Harvest the rest of the onions and call it good until next year.

Made salmon patties and a baked potato for dinner. Was really good. I buy the small 6oz cans of pink salmon at Costco. I love it, no skin or bones. Just right for 1 person, makes 2 patties. Throw some onion, salt, pepper, bread crumbs and egg. Easy peasy. Pan fry until warm and crusty on the bottom. So good.

Watching a little tv tonight and then will go to bed. Cant believe how out of shape I am, some of my muscles are complaining. Made myself a small ice cream cone on a sugar cone for my treat after all my hard work ha ha that is what I am telling myself anyway.

when I was in Kalona my friend and I went to a Mexican place we were both disappointed but my sister in law told me it was good food unless she was talking about a different place and that is possible as she was telling me a different name than what we ate at ... guess food can be a hit or miss... we went to one the other night that was really good...food costs too much to have it not taste good...
Anita what is sauerkraut soup?? you will have to tell us how it tastes
went and had my granddaughter cut my hair and had some peek-a-boo's put in. last time I just had one put in this time a different color and more area but it will take some getting used to it... then this evening went to Bunko dd had parent teacher and then another meeting thought she was going to make it back to the game but I beat her home... so it's been a busy day even had eyebrows waxed and tinted...
started Mary Higgons Clarks last book last night have had it forever but haven't been able to make myself read it after all it's her LAST book not sure how to deal with that... :o
going tomorrow night to get yarn some for a shrug for the niece and yarn for the next afghan dear granddaughter can go with me to pick it out ... her favorite color is gray but we both don't want too much gray so will be interesting to see what she comes up with
you all have a great day
