Tuesday afternoon

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday afternoon

Postby Othersharon » Tue Oct 03, 2023 3:08 pm

Almost 4 here in the east! There hasn’t been any wind today so decide to pull out the hose and window spray and hit the windows out front. A job I’ve managed to put off all summer. Mowing is still needing to be done so after a quick break I’ll tackle that. Besides the back of the house shades most of the yard. That sun is pretty warm today and for sure not complaining! Just going to work with it! I had to go get dog food yesterday and am starting Buddy on adult food. Will do the 50/50 with the puppy food until it’s gone. So decided since it was so nice I drove out to the Amish market. Got some apple cider which was my main goal! I really like theirs plus got a few other veggies. It’s a nice ride out in the countryside and the leaves are starting to change so was relaxing. Buddy had to stay home since it would have been to hot in the car to leave him. I’ll be happy when he can go with me. Our assessment is Thursday afternoon and I sure hope they can help us. So guess break is over and the yard isn’t mowing itself so off I go! Hope everyone is having a good day.

Good afternoon, Sharon. We're all lazy here at my sisters today. I had leftovers from my lunch out yesterday and we'll have the Italian beef they defrosted for dinner tonight. It's been a beautiful day so we spent a few hours sitting outside enjoying it. I think the dogs actually decided when we should so come in lol.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day. Tomorrow I had back to Iowa and work. Only a couple weeks to go!

Not much going on here at my home, but I got back last night from Kauai. I posted some pictures in General. I hope everyone has a good day.

Go ahead and look at your clocks it's a lot earlier than I normally come on but it's the way it worked out today...got to my dd's about 5:30 or so brought in all that I thought I would need need didn't still haven't ... it's cooler here and my jacket is in the car and today I took it to have it grease and oil changed it will stay over night and be done tomorrow... I thought that I would save someone a trip and met son in law at the shop so he could bring me home... they don't have an area to really set and wait... so this works for them and those who go to them...it's my nephew that has the shop
saw some really pretty fall colors on my way yesterday so very pretty it's a good year here to go look for fall colors... something to do with rain and cooling off don't know all that is mention just know the the combination of elements help sometimes that doesn't happen and we have a really washed out fall colors...
so other than talking to dd #4 reading scriptures ... I also listened to a pod caste that goes along with the lesson that I enjoy and taking the car up oh I finished loading the dishwasher .... I didn't do much and think I am going to go grab a nap... eyes are heavy
Judy couldn't you use your aunts address for shipping probably not ideal but it's an address and if the home knew that it was coming wouldn't think there would be any issues... is it just South Dakota that some things are not being accepted with just our mailbox number??? got a long message from the mailbox people as well as something from Bank which I need to go in and take care of when I get to Jackson... see how to take care of it all... what a mess if you got a message make sure that you see about it and yes dummy me went and read the e-mail but it didn't have any links to follow... and I'd read the one from the mailbox first and knew that it could possibly affect banking ... just bummed about it ...
think I will go find the couch will check in later I'm sure
Beth drive safely tomorrow...
Sandi what a fun trip that was
you all have a great day

Good afternoon. I am late to the game today. Was working out in the shed sorting out all my plant food and fertilizers. Sprayed part of the back yards weeds. I can only spray one part at a time, not good for the dog until it is dry. So wont let her out in that part until tomorrow. Took something back to the store I bought, then picked up a couple of grocery items I needed to make my soup. Made chicken soup and will freeze some of the broth and use the rest with some Tortellini. Making chicken and mushroom gravy with one of the large chicken breasts I bought, since it was soooooo good done in the crockpot when my friend was here. I wanted some Brussels sprouts to roast but theirs looked old so will just do the potatoes. While I was out and about I decided I was hungry so since In n Out is so close slid in there for a delicious cheeseburger and fries $5.80 doesnt come much cheaper than that and has tomoato, lettuce, onion and cheese on it. It was very much enjoyed. I brought it home 3 minutes away so it was still warm.

I called the company that makes and imports these mirrors, but the one I need is not in stock. Also, in discussion with the person I spoke to, he asked if I really needed the whole arm assembly, or just the mirror part. I described it to him and decided to order just the end part, which holds the mirror. It will cost me only about $300 with shipping, but it will not be in until next week, and by that time I might be on my way to Florida, so we agreed that he would call me when it came in and we would worry about shipping then.

I also talked to UPS, and the best way it to have it delivered to a UPS Customer Counter instead of one of the stores that accepts UPS shipments because, like Amazon, they can only handle smaller packages, and mine might be too big. Shall see when time comes. In meantime, I will have to drive extra carefully.

Went to visit aunt, and she does not look good. Tomorrow, I am going to call the hospice nurse who regularly sees her as I have some questions for her. Got a lot of little projects for tomorrow, so probably not go back to aunt's facility until Thursday or Friday.

Was kind of a frustrating day...

I had the windows open all night and enjoyed the cool breeze and then the birds singing this morning...and then the yappy little dogs across the street going crazy!! :o Yep, they are back! The lady with 4 dogs that sound like 10! So, it was time to get up after that.

Wasn't too motivated to begin with so I took a walk to the mailbox and back. I was planning to go further but it was already getting hot, pushing 90 already. The heat is back for awhile.
Then stopped to chat with my neighbor before figuring out what little projects and things to work on. Got the dishwasher loaded and turned that on. Then glued on a piece of wood trim that came off a cabinet in my living room. I had bought some caulking to caulk some small cracks in the side of the house in back. I was trying to use it without a gun and got a little bit out, but then the sprinklers came on and I had to run back inside! Went to get a caulking gun from Dave and went out later to finish that job. Then started getting the trash together to take to the dumpster. I decided to clean out my car some since I think I lost my glasses somewhere in my car on my trip to Idyllwild last week. I cleaned out the trash and bottles but no glasses to be found :( . While I was doing that, I noticed my back passenger tire was very low! So I drove carefully about a mile to the tire place I go to. I had called ahead of time to check to see how busy they were and was told to just come on in. Well, when I got there, it was over an hour wait! I didn't want to leave since I didn't want to drive on that low tire, so I decided to wait. There is an RV dealer down the street so I walked down there and a salesman showed me a bunch of trailers. They only sell trailers and 5th wheels but just to kill time, I told him I was looking for a trailer. Was interesting to see what the different layouts were but I still don't want to pull a trailer again. I was there for about an hour and then walked back to the tire shop. I sat and waited for another hour. Finally, I went up to the desk to see how much longer it would be. The guy handed me the keys and said it was all set. So how long had my car been done before I asked about it?? They knew I was sitting there waiting but never told me it was ready. But, I can't look a gift horse in the mouth because they fixed my tire for no charge. When I looked at the tire just after I got there, I saw a large nail in it. So I guess I should be happy it got fixed and I didn't have to bleed out any more money this week!

Oh, then tonight I remembered that we were supposed to get our Spectrum upgrade for extended cable, sports channel plus some other things included starting October 1st. Was told we would be notified about the specific changes and what we needed to do, etc, before then. Well, I haven't heard anything yet so I posted on our FB page asking if anyone has heard anything yet. Apparently, everyone (but me) got an email a week ago explaining the whole new program and what we need to do to get set up. I checked my junk mail and my deleted mail and didn't find anything. So I will have to go to the office tomorrow and find out how to get the info I need.

So that was my day! Still got my dishes (clean) in the dishwasher, still got the bags of trash and water bottles in the porch to take to the dumpster. Too tired tonight to do anything with them. Tomorrow... I don't work until 1pm.

Got the AC back on today and for tonight. Maybe it will drown out the incessant barking from across the street. The cool air was nice while it lasted, but it will be back. The snowbirds are starting to trickle back in. It will get busy by the end of the month. The golf course (and everything else) officially opens on Nov 4th.

I did make a yummy grilled cheese sandwich for lunch! And I cleaned under the couch and found at least 6 toy mice and a plastic ball under there! Was wondering where they all went! I need to get a pool noodle to put under the front of the couch to block it off from the mice and other toys.

OK, I am going to get my crabby, tired self ready for bed! Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day. :)

The carpenter came today and said that he didn't think I had much damage. He is suppose to come work on it next week. Then I'll have to get the plumbers come put a new toilet. I might get my bathroom back by Thanksgiving.

Tonight was the monthly Cattlewomen meeting. We sponsored a 4-H event this afternoon so we got the leftover hamburgers and cookies. Like I need cookies.

Tomorow I am having lunch with some camping friends in Lafayette. I don't miss many meals. lol

I hope they don't start making us use our house address for mail. My mail box is on the side of the road so I have important mail go to the post office box. IRS won't use the po box but so far everyone else does.

Barbie, it looks like the owner would get tired of the barking dogs. I read something, probably on facebook, where someone recorded the neighbors dogs barking and amplified it back toward the dogs owner. I had a problem once with some bratty kids sicking their dog on my son. Had to get the police involved to make the mother come up with proof that the dog had been vaccinated.

Martha, I guess this woman has a large yard at home and lets the dogs run free in the fenced yard most of the time and they don't bark so much but they don't like being in the house or on a leash so they bark more. That is the story anyways... :?
