Chirping Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chirping Monday

Postby BarbaraRose » Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:36 pm

Good late morning gals!

It is a beautiful day here with sunny skies, nice breeze and lots of birds chirping! Must be more birds arriving from up north. Lots of different sounds. Love it! I wanted to open the windows last night again but the wind came up so I didn't want to get any dust in here. I have been sneezing off and on from the dust for the past few days.

I have the workers here working on installing my new dishwasher. They have had a few issues removing the old one and now getting the new one to fit properly. All I see are $$$ signs as the clock ticks away! :o But it has to be done. They were a half hour late getting here but I call that "Mexican Time". Mexicans are notorious for not being in a hurry for anything but they always arrive eventually!

I got to bed late and got up early so am a little tired. May need a nap later. I should be reading while I am sitting here but I will for sure fall asleep then. I got a few things done yesterday but still more to do today. Finally got my meds picked up yesterday.

Got my new debit card and activated that yesterday morning only to discover my phone had been deactivated because the autopay didn't go thru the day before. I did the chat thing with them but the lady was trying to get me to call them or have them call me. I kept telling her that my phone isn't working so I can't do that. Like, what part of "my phone doesn't work" do you not understand??? I finally had to go to Dave & Debbie's to use their phone to call and get things taken care of with the new payment.

Speaking of cousins, etc. I have several second cousins in Minnesota (mom's side) that I mostly keep in touch with on FB. I also have a few second cousins in Moline, IL (my dad's cousin's kids). I have a couple first cousins (my dad's side) in Minneapolis that I haven't had any contact with since my dad's funeral. I have been meaning to call them and see what is new with them.

I have been thinking about the wedding next March and how to deal with my MN brother and his wife while I am there. It is going to be awkward but I decided that no matter what might be said (regarding the other wedding I didn't go to 5 years ago), I will do my best to ignore it. If it becomes an issue, I will just leave early. I wish I could bring someone with me to make it less likely anyone would say anything in front of a guest of mine. Maybe I am overthinking this but it does worry me. :?

Looks like these guys are just about done here. Yay! Now to deal with the pain of writing a check... :(

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Morning Barbie, glad you are getting your dishwasher installed. People looking at your house like to know everything works. So maybe this will help you sell. Hopefully so. I have been puttering around the house reorganizing some stuff and getting more stuff ready for the donation center. Somehow I accumulate some really dumb stuff LOL
Going to go out and work a bit in the garden later. I like to do a few things out there every day, then it doesnt feel so daunting. Sun is out but will fairly cool to do some work. We will be warming up the end of the week to the high 70's low 80's so will apply the sealer to the leaking spots of my awning. Will see if it works. I dont have high hope but will give it a try. It isnt a really big deal because I am not out there anyway in the winter and I have rain covers for my chairs but I would like it not to leak SO MUCH.
Time for some lunch and continue watching my series on Netflix.

Getting frustrated with trying to get a new side mirror. Called Ford, but not original equipment. Called Fleetwood, and they have one for $890!!! Did an hour's worth of research online and found the exact mirror. Wrote down brand and model #, but then how to actually get it. Could order from manufacturer, but shipping will be $40, but cost is only $383, so total is $423, which is a lot cheaper than $890!! Now where to ship it to. Calling UPS to find a place where I can receive it. I also spent an hour calling around to auto parts stores trying to find it, but no luck. Just because some jerk got too close and hit my mirror!! :x

Beautiful day here on lake Lanier. Temp is 84 and sunny, with light breeze. Lots of sailboats to watch. Best part of this site I always try to get is that it is on a narrow stem of peninsula, so I have a clear view of the lake on both sides and behind me. Gets wider and more woodsy farther out, which is why I like this site. Also close to laundry.

Glad to hear things are cooling down for some of you. Fall is here.

Well. . . not so fast!

In the low 90's here at my house today. A lot better than the low-to-mid 100's, of course (as it was a week or so ago), but hoping for cooler temps soon.

It was 98 again here. The weather man keeps saying it will be in the 60's at night but it hasn't made it here. I made a reservation at the local campground for the first weekend in November. Some of the Louisiana club are going. Then I have another campout with the Getaway Gals in Natchitoches November 6. I'm going to lunch with some of my camping friends Wednesday if I don't get tied up with the bathroom repairs.

The guy that was suppose to call me this morning called at noon. He forgot. He is suppose to come at noon tomorrow but I could tell he didn't write my address down. He thinks he knows where I live. I just love waiting on people.

Judy, hope you can get your mirror. That's something we really need with motorhomes. I am always afraid I will lose one on the interstate when they put construction barriers along the lanes and it feels like I could teach out and touch an 18-wheeler.

I finally got the push mower started and mowed the back yard. I put half gas and half sea foam in it. It ran funny for a few minutes but I was ready to blow it up. I will probably have to take Aleve for my shoulder to sleep.

Barbie, I hope the dishwasher is in. Please run it every week. They break down faster if not used. Judy, sorry about the mirror. It seems that this year is full of different types of expenses, doesn't it?

I'm at my sisters. I went into Walgreens today and got both the flu and COVID vaccines. So far no soreness or responses from either. After that we drove to Ferryville, where my ex and I had a motel. My sis and bil bought out his 1/2 when we divorced and we ran it together for a year while they learned the ropes, then they bought out me. They retired a year or two after I went full-time. But I always drive the river road down to take a look. It was the favorite place I ever lived during my working years, with a view of the Mississippi River out my living room window and in front of the motel. I woke up every morning singing "Oh what a beautiful morning ...". I do admit since rving I've found lots of beautiful places, but I left part of my heart there. We had lunch at a restaurant in that town (it's only about 180 people, if that). Great food. Then drove to Gays Mills which has lots of apple orchards. We went to a couple and bought a few things. They bought lots more apples because my sis makes apple sauce she freezes. She makes enough to last the year. We had pork chops with the last package of applesauce from last year yesterday! Yum. We had apple pie last night and tonight she had bought before I got here from one of the places before I got here. And we got a giant caramel apple that we split 3 ways tonight. We don't have any plans tomorrow. Maybe just stay in. My nephew sent them a package of Italian beef from Portillo's that was taken out of the freezer and we'll have that tomorrow. You can't take the Chicago area out of any of us from there lol

Another warm, upper 80's day here. But they'll see highs in the 50's a couple days after I leave, so I think I picked the right week. I got my schedule for work after I get back. It's a weird one but ok with me. I'll try to see both Conni and Linda on my next days off, but it'll be crazy because my rig really needs a lot of help inside. Things are a mess, so I'll need at least one day to take care of that. It's hard to believe I'll be heading south before too long.

Martha, enjoy your upcoming camping trips, with hopefully some, finally, cooler temps! I'm looking forward to both hearing about you needing to know much longer this year.

It topped out here today at 102 degrees at 4:30 p.m. Looks like the "low-to-mid-100's" are back. With a vengeance. Temps predicted to be in this range for the rest of this week.

I am SO ready for autumn!!
