Wednesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Wed Sep 27, 2023 7:40 am

Morning all. Cloudy, 53° here. Pesky system hanging around.. East winds for past 3 days and showery yesterday. Moving out by tomorrow and warming up again. Long range winter forecast came out yesterday for December-March calls for warmer than normal temps and below normal precipitation. Sounds like last winter. Doesn’t mean there won’t be periods of normal to below normal temps and precipitation. My take is it will be what it’s going to be. Won’t make the snow bunnies happy and we do need snowfall to replenish the water tables and lakes.

Barbie, sorry you got caught in the scams going around. I get emails like that all the time and send them to the trash. Nothing ever follows after that. Be vigilant ladies. AARP devoted almost an entire AARP Bulletin to scams and frauds, how to spot and deal with them. No government entity, bank, credit union or legitimate business will ever ask for personal information via emails. Do not respond to them. If you aren’t sure, call them personally and do not use the numbers they put in those emails. They can be linked to the scammers and sound official. Stop and think. USPS for example. Why would they say they are having trouble with your mail when you know it’s been coming through just fine. You ordered something and they say there’s a problem. They don’t need your personal info, they got that when you ordered. Call their customer service and talk with them to see if there’s a problem. You get a fraud alert from the bank about a credit card. Call the number on the card and talk to them directly to see if there’s indeed a fraud attempt. Another thing to watch for is wording. Some you can tell cause they don’t have a grasp of the English language. But sometimes the shapes of letters can be different in a sentence. Look this up online and you can learn more about it. Be safe. When in doubt, throw it out. I just went through my emails ad folders yesterday and cleaned them out. All empty. Not that I keep them anyway unless it’s something important, I either make a copy of it or archive it or a bit. Not good to let the inbox fill up as it can stop important emails from coming through and takes up unnecessary space on your computer. I check mine every morning and delete the junk. That’s mostly what I get anyway.

Off to town for me this morning. Need couple things from store and swing by farmers market. Did my cleaning yesterday and got patterns traced out on the piece of Lynwood. Might cut them out this afternoon. So, time to head for the shower. Have a nice day all.

Sue you beat me in here so I deleted my post and will add it here to yours. Easier that way LOL

Good morning, I am up quietly sipping my coffee and catching up on here. My company leaves this morning and I sure am enjoying visiting and catching up with her. She leaves today and I will get back into my routine. Yesterday was a great day, no rain until later in the afternoon when we were back from some sightseeing and a little retail therapy. She went to 2 Fred Meyer stores in Medford )on her way up here) looking for a specific pair of shoes that her sister bought there. So yesterday morning I told her we had a Fred Meyer here so we stopped in there later on our travels and SUCCESS they had just the shoes she wanted. She was very tickled. Made our In n Out Burger run and brought it home and it was very good. Just had some Pie for dinner as we were still pretty satisfied from lunch.
So today will just be some tidying up and will wash the guest linen to be ready for anyone else that wanders my way LOL Pondering what to fix for breakfast. She isnt up yet so cant ask her ha ha

Made it to Lexington KY today, after a fun long lunch with Tina! Had lots of fun chatting, but sorry, no photos!

Tomorrow's big task is two or three loads of laundry. Cost is $3 for wash and $2 for dry, which i think is expensive, so I will hold last load until I get somewhere else.

I have two weeks scheduled at a COE campground on Lake Lanier near Atlanta, starting guess when??? Sunday, October 1, which is of course the day the federal government might shut down. If that happens, it is very likely that the COE campgrounds will also shut down. So, I am going to look for an alternate tonight just in case because I have to visit my aunt in Atlanta a couple of times next week.

Yesterday there were dark clouds and thunder most of the day and I didn't get one drop of rain. There isn't any rain predicted for the next 10 days. The Mississippi is low again and there are reports every night on the news about salt water coming up the river. It will affect the drinking water for cities that get water from the river.

I didn't do much today but take my son to the emergency room. We got tired of the BS and run around we got from Ochsner's Hospital in the past so tried a different hospital. Had a better experience. Tomorrow he has an appointment with a doctor in Baton Rouge so I will have to bring him. I sure hope there isn't an accident on I-10 on the basin bridge and we get stuck for hours.

Judy, hope you don't get put out of the campground but there isn't much time for the politicians to get anything passed.

Good luck Judy. Hope you found an alternative because it doesn't look good. Martha, I hope your son is ok. Karen, I'm glad you got to spend good time with your friend. I've never eaten at In N Out but have heard it's good from others. I discovered this summer that I like Jersey Mike's. I had a coupon for a free sub and if course I used that. It was good and I went back other time. I get two lunches from one of the subs so the price is right too. I have only tried hot subs, and I already checked online and see there's one near me in Texas this winter, so I'm sure I'll go again.

I took one of our pizza and some of our boneless wings too my GF's house for lunch today. I brought some wings home and she kept the leftover pizza. Said she enjoyed it for dinner. Our pizzas here are good.

This was my last day off before leaving for my sister's for 4 days Sunday. I intended to do a load of laundry so I'd be assured of a clean work T-shirt when I returned, but that didn't happen. Maybe after work tomorrow. Better yet, maybe I'll bring both with me to my sister's and get both washed while there. But I really don't want to pack them and take the chance I'd forget them there. I'm so used to traveling with the RV. Lol

Ok, I open tomorrow so will head to bed now

drove a lot further than planned... I am in Kansas a town called Oberlin .... I went to Thayer County in Nebraska took longer than I expected but it sure was a pretty drive not flat like a lot of the area around I-80 tends to be... came this way so I could check out a cemetery but they didn't or perhaps it was just me have the "blocks and lots" marked I did find that part on find a grave... but couldn't figure out the rest of it so didn't get to get the pictures I was hoping to get from there decided that I would go to Norton KS why??? cause it was there  no according to the timing I would get there about 6:30 got there and the whole town was full and one of the motels I stopped at here in Oberlin ... didn't get here till 9 I think it was no maybe 8:30 took a shower before I read scriptures I swear I am going to get a step stool and carry it with me the next time I run away beds are so high to get into ... I've been trying to pack up stuff when I finish so hopefully I won't forget anything so far it has worked makes it easier for me to leave in the morning
I am hoping to make it to Vernal Utah on Friday spend tomorrow night some where in the Denver area give my nephew a call see if he wants to come see his aunt...
I am going to a cemetery in a town just off of I-70 in CO hopefully they will have a better system so I can locate the grave sites.... I just can't trek across the ground like I would like to do so need to know where to go in order to make myself do it...
saw some plants along the road way in southern part of NB and some in Kansas need to figure out what they were... they are yellow looks like they have a stem with multiple flowers on it quite tall and very abundant at first glance they remind a person of sunflowers but those don't have multiple heads on a stem and much smaller head or blossom
there was another plant that I saw in Iowa and some today that again I would like to know the name o it but much harder to describe
going to go play a quick game and then climb into bed

Slept in a little bit this morning. I went thru my bills and checked to see which ones had autopay using my debit card. Only a couple. Most come from my checking account so they are good. Then went to WM to pick up my meds and return a couple things. Just realized tonight that I forgot to get my meds! Well, I have a few left so am good for a few more days, so I can pick them up later. Stopped to get air in my tires and then finally dropped off the old microwave to the metal recycling facility.

I am planning to head up the "hill" (ie, mountain) tomorrow morning to spend the day in Idyllwild. I was looking for the new hiking shoes I bought several months ago, but I think I packed them in my hiking bin which is in the storage unit. Oh, well, I won't be doing any excessive hiking anyways so I can wear my tennis shoes. Just thought I would try them out and see how comfortable they are. They are much lighter than my old hiking boots so I figured my feet wouldn't get so tired while hiking.

If any of you love sea salt caramel things, WM's Great Value has Sea Salt Caramel ice cream in pint size, that is amazingly delicious! Has little bits of chocolate in it too. Very creamy and great flavor!

I am reading a book I got called "Still Distracted After All These Years" for ADHDers over 50 that have or have not yet been diagnosed. It is SO interesting and has great ideas on how to deal with the issues in a very easy and practical way. Am really learning a lot. There are a lot of things we can do to make life easier besides taking meds. Mostly learning new habits and understanding and overcoming the old habits.

Sounds like several of you are having fun get-together's with friends this past week! Always fun to do!
We have several In & Out Burgers here. I have been there several times but just never totally impressed. They always have long lines of cars waiting to order so I know other people love it. The prices are really good too, so it is more affordable for families, than McD's or Burger King.

Heading to bed early tonight. Want to head out early tomorrow so I have the whole day to do things without feeling rushed.

Good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
