Another Wed Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another Wed Morning

Postby Bethers » Wed Sep 20, 2023 10:34 am

I'm off today. Made some tentative plans but so far have only taken Ty on a good walk, vacuumed the crap we bring in after it rains (it rained a few times yesterday), dumped tanks and in a bit will run to Walmart for a small pickup order. Maybe I'll leave early enough to make a stop at someplace on my list to visit before leaving the area. Maybe not lol

I did just read a very interesting article on the effect wildfire smoke is having on our air quality. I guess we'd been having success at turning around our air quality, but now it's reversed again. If you can read Washington Post articles here's a link to it if interested. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate- ... tion=alert

Have a great day.

Good chilly morning. Was 44 this morning, sweatshirt weather. We will only be 73 today, cloudy and it did rain overnight with possible more to come, YIPPEE. Henry is busy this morning, had so much to vacuum he had to go back for a rest and to recharge his batteries LOL Going to run the duster and mop the bathroom floors. I am excited I am having company from my favorite ex-neighbor. After the wildfire we all scattered in different directions. She now lives in Yreka, CA just over the hill from where we used to live at the bottom of the Siskiyous. She called me today and she is coming on Monday. She said dont worry about the bed I will bring my Travask...........I told her she absolutely is sleeping IN the bed. I paid alot of money for that bed and waited a long time for my mattresses you are going to use it. She just laughed, she said she remembered me sleeping on the floor LOL

Going to go check out my freezer and see what could be a good thing for dinner tonight. Had ham, cheese, mushroom scramble this morning so kind of hard to get excited for much now. But I will be hungry so guess I better plan something. I will need to pick up a few things on Friday or Saturday to freshen the veggie and salad fixings but other than that I have plenty of food for company. In fact trying to pare down my freezer.....so I can buy more probably ha ha ha

Good morning/afternoon everyone! It's been a busy few days for me with my birthday and lots of appointments. Monday I acquired a 30 day companion- my Holter monitor to help the cardiologist clear me to bounce me back to pulmonary. It amazed me to see how tech has changed! I expected smaller than the older models I've seen, but this blew my mind. It's only about the size of a matchbook, just a bit thicker, with one short lead and a cell phone type transmitter monitor that rides in my pocket. It's smaller than my cell phone. Only issue, so far is, they got me hypoallergenic electrode pads, which began melting and falling off in a few hours! Called and the 24/7 help lady said, it's likely the electrodes got overheated during shipping! So new come Thursday and meanwhile it's holding using paper tape over whole thing, which, thankfully I had on hand. Turns out, other than raising head of adjustable bed and feeling the little puck slide down between my boobs, it's been a easy piece of high tech!
Today dawned smoky with an AQI of 153, from smoke coming south from fires in Northern California and Oregon. Supposed to clear tonight. Wish I did not have to go out, but Chris has a psych check appt in Sacramento, about 25 min away. We will have AC on with inside air only, and I'll carry inhaler. Temps here right now 76°, and predicted 85°/59°. Very nice weather! So nice, my friend (who is riding with me to the PowWow next month) came over yesterday and we gave NightOwl her first bath since 2019- which was last time I drove further than just local for smog checks and to warm up engine. NightOwl is so shiny! And I'm a bit pink from sun and slept better last night than a while!
Judy, I hope smooth sailing from now on. Shirly safe travels. I gotta go boot Chris out of bed so he can be ready to leave in an hour. Have a good day everyone.

I went to Walmart and spent too much money as usual. I had 4 things on my list and came out with a basket full. I stopped and looked at the golf carts. To put new batteries in mine would be $1,000 plus repair anything else. Some of the new carts have lithium batteries. Don't know how I feel about that. I thought about picking up a dinner at the deli but didn't like the two choices. I could have got a dinner with fried chicken but don't think I'm up to chicken again yet. lol I got a new brand of frozen mexican dinners. They can sure make the picture on the box look better than the food. My shoulder is hurting. I picked up a jug of cat litter with the wrong hand. Or it could have been the can of gas I got for the mower.

I haven't smelled smoke lately. I think they finally got the big fire under control. Yesterday on the news they were reporting about a big grass fire about 15 miles
East of here. Three people are getting fined for starting that fire. It doesn't look like we will get any rain for the next 10 days.

Good evening gals!

I has been quite a day! Went to work this morning. Around mid morning my coworker had a client in her chair and heard her say to him "are you OK sir?" I looked over and his head was down but his eyes were wide open. She asked me to come over and I tried to get his attention but got no response from him and he was sweating profusely. Finally I got him to respond and he said he was OK but I knew he wasn't. I got my phone and went out into WM to call 911. I had told her not to let him leave the shop until they got there. I thought maybe he was having a stroke! Took less than 5 minutes for the police to get there, then the firemen and then the ambulance. At one point there were about a dozen uniformed people in the lobby, along with a gurney! They asked him a ton of questions and checked him over. He was more alert by then. His BP was pretty high and I guess he has had heart issues in the past. But, like most men, he was being really stubborn. They really wanted to take him to the hospital but he refused that. Then they told him he should call someone to pick him up and take him to the hospital. He wouldn't do that. They didn't want him driving home but he insisted he was fine. Even when they offered to walk him out to his car, he refused that as well. I hope he made it home OK. :?

One of my customers who I knew from when I worked there before, wanted to come by this afternoon to look at my place. She is thinking of downsizing. She came by around 3 with a friend. She really likes my place and the park but she has a lot of downsizing to do. She said she could rent the place out for awhile until she is ready to live here. She travels a lot on trips to visit family so would probably be fine with the 90 day rule of being out of the park. So, will see what she decides.

I was thinking of going up to Idyllwild tomorrow but I think maybe Friday instead. It is in the low 60's there right now. Our temps are in the low 90's the rest of this week. But the winds are high. We had a dust storm move thru here this morning and afternoon.

My neighbor, Gloria, must be out of town this week. Her house is all locked up. She has family in Texas and I think she had mentioned awhile ago that she was taking a trip there. My neighbor on the other side of me has an elderly dog that she says may have to be put down tomorrow. Scooter is a cute little Yorkie mix. So sad.

Need to get gas and pick up a book at the library but don't feel like going out again today, so will do that tomorrow.

Karen, sounds like you are overworking poor Henry! He need a vacation and a raise!

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Engine is starting reliably and rig running fine. Keeping my fingers crossed, however.

Drove a long distance to have lunch with a friend i used to teach with. She taught the classroom version and I taught the online version, so we spent a lot of time coordinating our courses so they were as similar as possible. Goal is to not let students "shop" for the easiest version or the easiest instructor. She updated me on changes in the college, which made me happy not to be teaching there anymore. She is planning on retiring in a couple of years, and we compared stories of whining and complaining students who at the end of the semester were shocked to find they were not passing. Duh. If they had read the assignments more carefully and actually turned in all the work, they would have passed!!

Anyway, it was a fun lunch but a horrible drive. I spent 30+ years living in the area and could not get anywhere because of construction and blocked freeway exits, plus a lot of detours. It seemed every time I wanted to make a turn somewhere, I couldn't because it was blocked by construction, so I was driving in circles!!

Tomorrow I meet another friend and we head to a wonderful place in Detroit--Belle Island. It is an 982 acre island in the middle of the Detroit River and has great views of ships, the downtown Detroit area, and Canada across the river. After Detroit claimed bankruptcy, it became a state park, and the whole area community got together to bring it back to what it had been 50 years ago! (The original park was designed in the 1880s by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same person who designed New York's Central Park.) https://www.belleisleconservancy.org/

Will be posting some photos tomorrow night. Friday, I am just going to take it easy.
