On Road's End beach just north of Lincoln City, Monty made some new friends: Chris, Robert and Eddy from Battleground, WA (it truely is a small world). Eddy has English bloodlines (they go in for the platinum blondes).

The lighthouse was scheduled to be demolished by the Coast Guard back in about 1968 when it was no longer used but Friends of the Lighthouse and the State of Oregon took it over and refurbished it. It is free to climb the light but you can leave donations in the gift shop.

It's so nice that "Friends" groups all over are working to save lighthouses, buildings, etc. I enjoyed your pics of the lighthouse.

What a nice trip! Thanks for sharing those pictures. I'm late, and traveling backwards I know, but I'm really enjoying the trip.
