Morning all. End of summer vacation season for us today. Will be a ton of traffic heading south as people head home from the last holiday weekend of summer. Was a lot yesterday too. Schools start tomorrow, although some started last week. Now the seniors will be out and about. It’s our time to get out and enjoy not having a mess of tourists and families everywhere we go.

Was a nice weekend weather wise. We were supposed to have been quite warm with temps in the 80’s and possibly 90. But clouL cover muted the sun and here where I am we barely made 80. Nice breeze too. Today and tomorrow are predicted high 80’s. We shall see. Looks like there might be some clouds around again. After that, a bit below normal coming in. It’s 60° at the moment. I’m heading for the garage in a bit to sand down the outfits I cut out yesterday before it gets to warm in there. Then can prime them in the basement. Figured that I would work on them since it’s going to be too hot to do anything outside.

Otherwise, nothing new here. Carol, hope no under foundation damage. That’s a lot of water. We need rain here as everything’s dry again. I’ll do some watering when I go out. I just drowned my neighbors flowers yesterday as they are still on vacation. Dropped off some rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy to the neighbor who has the husband home under a hospice care. Then she won’t have to deal with supper etc.

It was 68 degrees when I got up this morning and at Carolb's house in upstate NY, it was 73. But we're already up to 77 and should get into the low 90's this afternoon. It doesn't look like any rain is in sight this week.

The management here invited everyone for a Labor Day celebration 4:00. It's a BYOB&F Picnic. Bring your own food and beverage. We'll hit the Winn Dixie in a bit to see what we want to take for our picnic.

Good morning, our forecast 52/77 it rained last night but nothing right now and guess will just be cloudy with sun this afternoon. It smells so good out there with the rain we got. Will be 80 for several days coming up and sun. I like this kind of weather.
I have to go pick tomatoes this morning. I am sure Anne is doing the same thing LOL I wont plant so many tomato plants next year but since I have had such bad luck with them the prior two years I wanted to make sure I got some...........well I do.

Not sure what today will bring but I need to create some folders for my "manuals" on several things I have. I do download the manuals to my computer but sometimes easier just to read a piece of paper to refresh my memory. Then file them away in the file cabinet. I also need to reorganize my pantry. I organized my freezer last week so only seems logical to do the pantry now LOL

Henry will be on the job again this morning. Then I will do some maintenance on him later, wash the brushes, rollers, clean the contacts, change the bin bag out and the filters then he will be good to go for a while.

Morning all. Sleeping in didn't happen but I didn't get out of bed right away.

Judy, the other day you mentioned when Labor Day happens. I always remember it being on the first Monday in September and this popped up on my feed. First for Canada, then the US. This is from the US info "The First Labor Day
The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just a year later, on September 5, 1883. By 1894, 23 more states had adopted the holiday, and on June 28, 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed a law making the first Monday in September of each year a national holiday." So many things did change to Monday holidays, but this one always was.

People were getting ready to pull out, some already had by the time Ty and I walked. Hopefully many more are gone when I walk him before work. Our walks here are shorter than I'd like (or Ty would like) so I feel bad when I shorten them as much as I do when the place is full. I treated myself this morning and fixed some bacon. Yum! Now I'll be a bum until time to shower, walk Ty, and head to work this afternoon.

Morning All, lot, humid and heading to 90°. At least we had a few days reprieve. A quiet day at home on this holiday weekend. Took trash to the dumpster, got mailed and mailed kid brother a birthday card for his 80th birthday. Sadly produce stands close down today. I have really enjoyed fresh corn this year. I eat one ear which is cooked in the microwave. Read you could freeze in husk, then nuke it straight from the freezer. Works like a charm for me since I can not travel to buy corn often. Mother gave me a set of stainless steel pans 66 yrs ago and they are like new. I have washed them by hand since I thought dishwasher might damage the handles. Have tried for two days to remember the name of the company that she bought them from and can not. It was one of those who sent salesman door to door. I could use him now lol. I guess we have Amazon now which has a larger selection. Salmon cakes and corn for dinner. Be safe

Prayers for those in need and happy for those who have had their’s answered.

Never mind….the company was Amway. eBay still selling their cookware. Good product. Lol

Heating up again here too, the temperature is only 84 but with the 72% humidity it feels like 93. Sue I just bought a pair of Ortho shoes. I think they are going to work for me but still in the trying out stage. They also send an insert you can add to make the arch a little higher. I have worn Birkenstock shoes for over 30 years but my arches are falling and they no longer fit well . I'm also getting calluses on the bottom of one foot so I'm looking for options. Just need to find a really good massage person. Maybe Google reviews in the area.
Pippa says she is very pleased how quickly she can train me. I foolishly for some reason, put her food in my bowl after I finished my scrambled eggs the other morning thinking she would eat. Yes, she now waits for me to finish and put her food in my bowl, even though she has scrambled eggs on top of her food. I know I should wait her out but...I'm weak!

Yes, she now waits for me to finish and put her food in my bowl, even though she has scrambled eggs on top of her food. I know I should wait her out but...I'm weak!

Good afternoon to all. A bright and sunny day here today, thank goodness. When it pours rain in the desert it isn't a pretty sight. We went to market this morning and the streets are full of rocks and sand and mud. Some still have puddles in them. The streets in the community where we live are full of dried mud and piles of rocks. Most of us have rocks as our landscaping. Neighbors are arguing about who rocks are in the piles of rocks in the streets. Quite a bit of damage in our area. Hopefully mostly cosmetic. The land belongs to the management company, we just rent it. Hopefully, there is that word again, they will be responsible for filling the big hole under the front of our house.

And of the back where the water entered under the house.

I called our insurance company to come out. I want someone to go under the house and check the area where the support jacks are. Don't want to suddenly tip to the left...I have a feeling though that the answer will be - "No flood insurance, tough luck." We'll see. Been mopping floors all morning trying to get up all the mud we tracked in from outside. Still muddy out there.
Had to laugh looked over at the Wetlands and their sprinklers were on watering the grass.
We are kind of figuring out our Roku. At least Bill got to watch his soccer game last night on it. He had a bad day all day yesterday, spent most of it in bed. Wish that long covid crap would go away.

Upper 80s yesterday and today on the shore of Lake Erie and in northern Ohio. Problem was also very high humidity which made it seem extremely hot. One example: I defrosted the fins on my refrigerator about 6 days ago and they are already clogged with frost, so I will have to do them again tomorrow. It is supposed to be 88 tomorrow and 89 the next day, then cooling down. I know that does not seem very hot for those of you living in the desert, but I have been sweating like crazy both days to the point where my hair is stiff!! Going to take a shower in a few minutes now that my motorhome has cooled off.

I did two large loads of dirty clothes when I got here this afternoon, which meant three hot walks to the laundry. At least Ohio State Parks have washers and dryers in each of their campground restrooms, and this one has two washers and two dryers in each. Also, price is also only $1.75 per load, which is a lot cheaper than a commercial laundromat. Even has a change machine in the camp store! Got two more loads to do (towels, sheets, and rugs) but will wait until later in the week when it drops into the 70s!

Hope our Florida and Las Vegas friends can get things fixed quickly after the storms without any glitches.

A sunny but not so hot day here. I have pretty much packed my backpack for the next four days and will leave when I'm ready tomorrow - probably a bit before noon. Secondary roads and about 5 hours to Lewiston, Idaho.

Evie, I'm sorry to hear your son is dealing with health issues. Carol, what a mess! I saw more photos of Liz's area as I'm sure others of you did - a different kind of mess. BJ, chuckling about Pippa! They are smart!

Good evening gals,

Carol, our place turns on the sprinklers when we get flooded, on purpose to help pull water from the flooded drainage areas (it is all connected) to move it away to other areas. Most people in the desert do not have flood insurance for times like this. I don't, that is why I was so worried about my house flooding. I am fully insured for an earthquake tho!

Judy, the closer the dew points are to the actual air temperature, the higher the humidity. So if the dewpoint is in the mid 70's and the temps are in the 80's, the humidity will be a lot higher than if the temps are in the upper 90's or 100's.

I might be able to open my window tonight because there is very little wind and the lows will be in the low 70's overnight.

I got some sad news today. One of the stray cats that hangs around here (one that I trapped and got neutered a couple years ago) died today. I just saw him yesterday hanging out in the grass with the other cats and didn't notice anything off. But Gloria next door said he came up on her deck today and asked to come in (he stays in her house quite a bit and is very friendly). She said he didn't look good. He was having trouble walking and breathing. Her daughter was there and tried to find a vet to take him to but none were open, being a holiday. For some reason they let him back outside and he was crying and walking slow. Unfortunately, she had sent me a text message when he first showed up but I didn't get a notification so I didn't find out until a couple hours later. I went looking for him but didn't find him. Then a little while ago I got another text from her that our other neighbor found him dead in her yard. I feel so bad. I don't know what could have happened to him. Maybe he got ahold of something toxic or was hit by a car here and had internal injuries. Who knows. I am sure a vet visit wouldn't have saved him anyways. But I feel bad that he died alone. I called him Bootsy because of his white feet and Gloria called him Socks. Otherwise he was all black with white whiskers. He was a sweet boy.

Shirl how long do you microwave the corn from the freezer to the microwave... wouldn't have thought of doing that... I've been nuking the corn this summer did it the other day when dd and sil were here he was really impressed with it.. had hamburger and corn was going to put 3 bean salad out and what was left of the potato salad forgot to do so then I was going to toss the salad forgot to do that as well... I don't like deli potato salad so not sure why I buy it... mom has gotten so she doesn't eat so many things and potato salad is one of them... hate making it just for me and it looked good and sounded good... wasn't as good as it looked... has to be the pimiento in it... there are very few things that I don't like I'm finding pimiento is one and don't like stuff it's added to like potato salad...
mom ate her corn on the cob looked at the hamburger didn't touch it and struggled to get the partial glass of chocolate milk down... as she went past the table she reached out for a M&M I told her if she couldn't eat her supper no candy... I sound so harsh part of me wants to give up and just let her eat what she wants but part of me doesn't want to give in either...
we had rain today and it's been chilly think it is flannel pj time at least for awhile I'm not ready to close the bedroom window all the way

Beth keep forgetting as if you have gone to the botanical gardens that is if they still have them it's been so many years since I've been there... would like to go see it again
talked with my eldest for almost an hour today that is a rare thing my granddaughter is getting Married on March the 1st and the reception is on the 2 it's sad not the wedding he seems like a good guy but she has with a couple of her sisters are in a no contact with their dad ... I'm not sure all of it it seems a bit over the top but then I didn't live it so no room to judge but of course she doesn't want her dad to be there... I actually feel bad for all of them wish I could help it's something that the girls will have to overcome...
