Sunny Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Sunday

Good morning to all. Sunshine all around the valley for a while. Every one needs to dry out and move earth and rocks back where they belong. We had a heavy rain in the morning. Then the sun came out. About an hour later all heck broke loose. Bill hear running water so he walked outside. The street was flooded. Water was pouring out from under the front of our house. We are in a manufactured home so we are up quite a ways off the ground thank goodness. Water was up over the drainage ditch in the back of the house and going under the house. We got luck and are at the higher end of the street. What a mess. Lots of pictures on my blog - link is at the bottom of post. Today all is dry, but we have a big hole in the ground at the front corner of the house. All the dirt and rocks are in the street. A couple of homes were flooded at the lower end of the street. Lots of clean up to community to do. Water coming in from Wetlands knocked down a big section of the block wall at the other end of our community. Luckily it was at a vacant lot. I want someone to go under the house to make sure the supports are still on solid ground, so called insurance company. Will get a call back next week. Amazing what water can do. Today just relaxing. Oh, I got an early Walmart delivery 8 a.m. Was tracking the car and it was at the main gate...and stayed there. Finally I jumped in car and went to check, Main delivery gate would not open. So I opened the residents gate to let driver in. The main street in front of the community Tropicana Ave was impassible most of yesterday. Floods all over town. Might rain again today, but so far sunny out and very humid 89%...we don't know how to handle that
Lyn very sorry to hear about your son. Heart is with you.

Carol, what a mess. Hope everything under your house is ok.

Lyn, sorry to hear about your son. It's so hard to lose a child no matter how old they are.

Not much going on here except the heat. We might get some rain tomorrow. Sure hope so. The price of hay is so high I see people bailing hay on land that I have never seen hay before. Someone was even bailing rice straw. Some are selling cattle because they can't afford to feed them. That will mess with the price of meat down the road.

I went to a Kohl's yesterday. The first time in a few years. The prices. I'm use to shopping at Walmart and TJ MAXX. I wouldn't pay what they want for the things on sale.

I was digging in the freezer and found one of the chickens stuffed with cornbread dressing. Hope it's not too old. Lunch will feel like Thanksgiving. lol

Was sorry to hear that Jimmy Buffet died. I am a late comer to his music. There are two CD's in the motorhome, my traveling music.

Good morning, we had a heavy rain shower this morning, nothing like what Carol had of course. We need it so badly, especially for the firefighters. Gave all my plants and bushes a good washing. We have quite a bit of ash here from the fires so between the ash and the dust rain was very welcomed.
Waited for the rain to subside before I went over to feed the neighbors cats. They will be home today so "cat duty" will be over. Also checking on my neighbor to make sure he is okay as his daughter that has been staying there while his wife is in Minnesota has to work today. So told Mary (the wife) I would check on John. He sounded real good on the phone last night. Will call him later this morning and then again in the afternoon. Mary comes home tonight but will be late but daughter will be there after work. He is 83 and has lots of problems with his legs and pain but said he was doing pretty good this week.

Need to finish my laundry this morning. Also need to dust my bedroom, forgot it the other day. Dusted all the blinds so that job was done. Still have leftovers so no need to be cooking today. Froze most of the bacon I cooked the other day, so nice to just pull out a few pieces for a sandwich.

Evie so sorry to hear you are dealing with your son's illness. Hope they get him sorted out soon. Seems so many right now are having a time of it with illnesses.

Henry is vacuuming the family room. Not scheduled for today but decided since my dog is starting to blow her undercoat he can do it today and again tomorrow. Had her groomed the other day and now I am brushing her every night to minimize the hair.
I have had breakfast, showered, and ready to start my day LOL LOL

Carol! What a mess! Hope no structural damage is found!
Karen, ha ha! Give Henry a good workout!
It's sunny and cloudy here with possible thunder showers this afternoon. I'm loving the cooler and damp weather .
My skin is reacting to the was effective Clonidine BP patch, so that may have to change AGAIN! It's a bad combo to have so many reactions yet have high BP that needs treatment! I think the swelling and inflammation developing under patch interfere with absorption.
Otherwise I'm feeling pretty decent and getting back to walking-75 minutes yesterday!
Lyn my hugs to you continue.
Irmi,Liz and all- hope storm cleanup is going well and safe and no damage found in your homes.
Hope everyone else is well and if it's hot there, hope it's soon not!

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone. I think we all need them! So much going on.

It was nice to only have a little over a 5 hour shift today. Funny how different an hour makes things. And my next 2 closing shifts are 5 plus whatever it takes to close up shifts. Then 2 days off. Nothing planned but will do my laundry. If I'm smart I might do laundry before work Tuesday. I figure I probably won't be smart.

Ty's used to our early days and will probably find sleeping in tomorrow difficult. But he'll do it. And I won't sleep too late because next weekend I'll have the same hours as this. I highly doubt it'll be as busy as this weekend though. Worst part of today is it was working with the one person I'd prefer to not work with. But if that's the worst, it's a good day.

Worked today. I think I have figured out how to take care of the sciatica pain at work. As soon as I feel the pain in my lower left backside, I need to sit down and put my left foot up about a foot or so, for about 5 minutes. The pain is gone after that, until it comes back after doing a couple haircuts. It gets me thru the day. When I am shopping and it happens, I put my foot on the small bar behind the cart for a few minutes. It has been trial and error to figure that out but it works.

Left work and the sky was super hazy. Couldn't see the mountains at all but the sun was out. Figured it was dust but there wasn't much wind so maybe a fire somewhere and the smoke from that? Once I got home, the wind picked up and they said on the news that we were getting a dust storm. Some roads were closed from zero visibility and accidents. I started hearing a loud banging noise outside so I went out to see what it was. Looked around and didn't see anything. Talked to a neighbor across the green space who was also out after hearing the banging. Then I turned around when I heard the bang again. It was my swing that was blowing into the side of my shed right behind it. So I moved the swing away from the shed a bit. Now all is quiet other than occasional gusts of wind.

Carol, I hope things are OK under your house! My house is on a concrete slab, but the house in Vista was on the ground, so I can see how that flooding could compromise the support jacks underneath.

My friend in FL said they had about 11 inches of water in their house so that isn't as bad as some who had 4 ft of water. Still a mess and a lot of cleanup to do.

Liz and the other gals from here dodged a bullet with no serious damage to their homes. Sounds like quite a few homes there were destroyed.

Lots of crazy weather all over! And several on here dealing with relatives with serious illnesses and injuries. And Lyn grieving the loss of her son (((hugs))). Challenging times for sure!

I have a couple of haircuts to do tomorrow (Dave and Debbie) but otherwise just housecleaning. My agent wants to come by this week and do a video tour of the house so I need to get it all cleaned up again for that. I work on Tuesday but have almost a week off after that. I might take a day and drive up to Idyllwild for a fun little break. Do some hiking, eating, and shopping. :D

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
