It's a Beautiful Wednesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It's a Beautiful Wednesday Morning

Postby Bethers » Wed Aug 16, 2023 10:43 am

Mid 60's when Ty and I walked. Low 70's now so windows and door open. But it'll be warming up soon and I'll be closing back up.

Yesterday when I arrived at work I learned housekeeping still had three cabins left. So I cleaned the rest rooms, laundry room and 3 cabins. It was a comedy of errors as I walked over to load and pick up the housekeeping cart, got it loaded and discovered the key wasn't in it. Back to the office for that. There were other silly things but I'll just say at the end, returning the cart and unloading, I still had the garbage in it, so another ride to the dumpsters.

I'm on closing again tonight. I almost hope there's cabins or other outside the office things to do as yesterday went so much faster because I was busy the first half of the shift. I didn't look to see how many check ins or outs today was bringing. It's been so busy because of the Iowa State Fair, but it's calming down. Seems most wanted to take a long weekend and enjoy it. So, yes, Sheila, it's that time of year. Linda wanted to go, but I'm not big on them anymore. I was almost convinced, but Monday, for me, wasn't the best weather for it, so just hanging out together worked better.

Two of the people who were working last night told me to ignore the optometrist and go see them doctor about cataract surgery instead of waiting. I'll hold off until I get my new glasses and see if they make a big enough difference. I'd rather get that in Texas or Arizona if I can hold off. And this optometrist recommended waiting a year then seeing after my next exam. Decisions, decisions!

Happy Wednesday everyone.

Good morning gals!

Well, yesterday morning I woke up to dark clouds and good chance of rain here and up in the mountains. I didn't want to drive on wet mountain roads so I postponed my trip to Idyllwild. Instead, I went out, stopped at the library, returned an Amazon item to Kohls, browsed thru Hobby Lobby, and stopped for lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Burgers & Beer, for a big plate of potato skins. They are SO good and still came out under $10. I will maybe go up to Idyllwild next week on one of my days off. I am scheduled to work Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.

One of my neighbors texted me about a FB page for our park that is just for advertising or looking for park models for sale or rent here. I have never heard about it so I checked it out. I signed up to join it and once approved, I will post the listing for this place.

Sophie found some sheets of tissue paper overnight and shredded them all over the living room, so I have that to clean up once I get out of bed. She sure loves paper!

Beth, glad you got to spend time with Linda. Sounds like things are going well with the job too, so far.

Have a good day!

Beth, I'm in the see a doctor about the cataracts group. I see a doctor once a year because I have a defect in my left eye. I think my vision is worse since last year. I had an appointment for August 30 but they changed it to September.

It got down to 72 last night and it was so nice outside this morning. Now it's 100. We have had 18 strait days of 100 or higher days. The rain last night didn't even show in the rain gauge.

Well crap. Had a post all done earlier this afternoon, but somehow it didn’t post. But I wanted to say Beth, I would get an appt. With an Opthomologist and get a second opinion. They are the ones who do the surgery anyway and they have the stuff to do a more thorough exam as well. I have been to both. That will help put your mind at ease.

Was a warm day here, mid 80’s, after a few days of upper 60’s, low 70’s. Another cold front coming in tomorrow brining rain with it. Sept. 1st is the first Day of Meteorological Fall and the battle of the seasons has been. But fall will gradually win out.

Had a nice ride down a bit west of Houghton Lake yesterday. Went to a store that has meat on sale cheaper than I have seen here. They are meat processors, so process their own meat. Fresh ground beef in 5 pound packages for $3.69 on sale, beats 3 pound packages at 6.69 a pound, even with a buy one get one 50% off sale. And I got two English cut roasts too. Went back to Houghton Lake, had lunch at my favorite restaurant, stopped at the tire place I do business with down there, had suspicion my two front tires had leaky valves cause they we’re losing air slow but sure every time I had air put in. Yep, replaced valves, no charge :D Stop at craft store to pick up few bottles of craft paint and on home in time to give Molly her afternoon eye drop.

She had good checkup at vet yesterday. Eye pressure in her affected eye has gone up, but it’s down in her right eye. Discussed reasons for Uveitis, which can be a host of things, but usually from within the body. She suggested she do a urine/fecal test. Yep. Results are showing possible bladder infection and Parasites in the intestinal tract. Bingo. Getting results analyzed, , but we are keeping fingers crossed, that may be the cause. Wait g to hear. Meantime, we continue on current medication plan. She’s also very happy with the way she’s walking now too. Antic flammatory working. I sure hit the jackpot when ai switched over to her.

Time to do dishes and dispense the 6 plml meds. Have a good rest of your day, those too my west and a good evening for the rest of us.

Martha, that's too many days for 100+ degrees! We will end a streak of 4 tomorrow. Really doesn't bother me since I have nothing to do outside. Since I planned to be gone, I do need to run to the local store tomorrow for produce. Beth, good idea to see how the new glasses help. Hopefully enough so you are comfortable waiting until you are South. Nice ride you had, Barbie! Sue, glad you found a good vet and are getting answers.

A few fires to the north of us and smoke has rolled in. The Pacific Crest Trail hikers are having to work around it as many did in that area last year. The closest fire is about 40 miles northwest of here in the wilderness and has been burning over a month.

I heard my phone ding this morning - I usually don't - was in a deep sleep so took a minute. My daughter was texting to tell me if she didn't hear from me by 11:30, she was coming over! It was 11:15! Obviously had trouble going to sleep last night. I told her next time call me because I'd hear the phone for sure. She jokingly said she forgot her phone would do that! She was on the phone so much in earlier years and now not a fan.

Sister-in-law let me know yesterday they were draining fluid from brother's chest and that was the last I heard. Called about 10:30 last night and talked to his night nurse. She was a hoot as we talked about his curt personality at times and then he apologizes. Sounds like all they are doing is treating the pneumonia which doesn't surprise me at this point. I sent him a text this morning expecting no reply but got a short one and sister-in-law is finally there. I'm sure he told her not to come until today, but I wouldn't have been able to stay away. The nurse who had talked to her earlier also thought she doesn't get how serious this is.

sometimes Anita we truly don't understand ... I think neither Larry or I understood but then the dr himself gave Larry several years and he was gone in just a few months... hopefully if he does have cancer that they start treating it soon...
Beth when I was told I needed to get the cataracts he was really concerned about vision in looking into the light as it could be totally blinding... that got my attention and although I was getting ready to go south and it didn't stop me I was more careful when driving ie not at night with headlights coming toward me times of day so I didn't look into the sun while driving... and when I got back up North it was done fairly quickly ....
it's too bad you didn't get to go on your trip Barbie it's always fun to get away even if it's just a few miles and a day...
don't you just hate it when you had something 10 mins ago and now can't find it ??? in this case a pen now where in the world did it go too???
one of my granddaughters is going to pharmacy school and had her white coat ceremony tonight via zoom I was able to watch sorta resembled a graduation but quicker.... all of the speakers all of 2 I think  the person mcing (calling the names out) were all women and a think a good portion of the students were also women...
it's been a warm day today never saw the temp but it feels hot about 9 mom muttered that she ought to get up and close the door I asked why it's hot if I'd been with it I would have turned on the fan but didn't I think part of it is that it's not very windy so not getting much of a breeze...
you all have a great day

Good thing I didn't decide to go "up the hill" to Idyllwild today either because they had severe thunderstorm warnings around there all afternoon. That wouldn't have been fun! Now with the hurricane coming up from Baja California this weekend, heavy rain is predicted here and up in the mountains thru the weekend and into next week, so no mountain trips for me then either. We need the rain, so not complaining.

I got the listing put up on FB today. I already got a lot of "likes" on it and some nice comments from the community.

I guess we had a small earthquake here last night about 6:30pm only 4 miles from me, but I didn't feel it. Altho I was taking a nap then.

Have a good night!

Good Morning, we have that hurricane warning too. Although the sky right now is beautiful blue with no clouds visible.
My son has gone into hospice. He was so miserable with the chemo, I was relieved.

Sorry this is a double posting. Shows I shouldn’t be posting while walking my pups. I couldn’t figure out how to delete one.

Lyn, I, too, am sorry to hear about your son. I send you my kindest regards.

For Sharon, also, I hope that your GD continues to improve and is soon well on her way to recovery - although I know it will probably be a long road.

Lyn my heart goes out to you and your family. Hospice to me is a gift. I admire those nurses so much but it was never my gift. I was on the other end of life and my hospice nurse friends said they would never trade with me, nor me them. I know hospice will keep your son out of acute pain and as comfortable as possible. They have way more liberal drug protocols. I had them with my Mom, they were a blessing. She also refused chemo. So sorry this is even happening to him. Prayers and thoughts with you at this time.
