Monday, August 7th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday, August 7th

Good Morning.Woke up aat 5 a.m., but decided to sleep another hour. Brought Molly in from her nightly outside sleep. Gave her the morning pills and eye drops. She’s back out there again now.

Nice day coming up. Temp is 61°, heading to about 75. Pretty much the case for the whole week. Need to run back to town this morning as forgot ground Turkey for the dogs food yesterday. Will drop off recycles on the way. Have some chores to do this week for both myself and the POA. Will see what I decide to do today.

Also thought I would share this video in the rebuilding of our Hobby Lobby which is currently happening. This is a fascinating look at how technology has come into the construction industry. Took most of last summer Into fall to demolish the old damaged building and then of course, with winter coming on and plans, bids etc. needing to be taken care of, new work was not able to start till mid May. Site work has been progressing right along and now is at this point. Last I heard, projected opening will be by the holidays. Remarkable progress considering it’s 14 months post tornado with Wi ter thrown into the mix. Just scroll down a bit into Todd’s page and you will get the video in the Hobby Lobby cement pour.

Hi Sue and all!

Sue, that video was quite something! I hope the workers don't run into any snags building the new Hobby Lobby.

It's 96 degrees here but we have a nice breeze. We drove into The Villages this morning to find Sumter Landing. That place is a zoo and I told Steve we had to leave because I couldn't breathe and we never got out of the car. Way too may people, narrow streets, all the buildings, even the homes are top of each other. Oh my! I couldn't live there. We were going to go out for lunch on the way home but I was so upset I just wanted to go home. Other than that, all is well in our world.

Good afternoon. Been busy this morning. Housekeeping chores, running errands. Went to the bank, stopped in at my eye doc's office to change my appt the end of the month as I have an eye exam for glasses in the morning. I was scheduled for eye injection early that morning, didnt figure that would work out too well with my eyeglass exam being shortly after. And I have been waiting a couple of months for my eyeglass exam sheesh. So 11:45 eyeglass exam and 1:30 for my dilation this time and injections so hope that works out.

So our governor just signed the bill that allows us to pump our own gas. The caveat is they have to have the same amount of pumps for full service as self service. So since I am going to Medford tomorrow I went and got gas. The self serve lines only had 2 cars and the full service had 6-7 deep. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. They had someone manning the self service in case you had questions. I am very used to pumping my own gas in CA after working there alot. I got this. I for one am happy I no longer have to wait for a busy attendant to help me. Before they got a big fine if you touched the gas pump (they had something akin to apoplexy if you did LOL) so I never got out of my car.

Going to finish the laundry and get some late lunch.

Irmi, your description of The Villages echoes my feelings when I went through them. And I didn't get very far either. I don't understand why people love them so much.

Karen, I really thought Oregon would never change. I admit I liked it I've day with putting down rain. But I jumped out of my skin the first time I got yelled at for forgetting and getting out to pump my own. Lololol

My friend Conni came to visit and we went out to lunch. We went Mexican and I knew before going that I wanted chili rellenos. 4 page menu. No chili rellenos. Took me forever to find something else. Mainly because the menu said items hot were designated with one to three chili peppers by there name. On the first page only one item had a single chili pepper. On the page with fish, three or four fish items had one or more stars. One steak item did. One burrito had a single star. So no spicy spicy for me. I did go for the burrito with the single star. Not nearly hot enough, but a big plate of food so I have another meal and will spice it up. We both like Mexican but agreed we'll try another place next time we want Mexican. That said, cute town it was in, with cobblestone streets. I love cobblestone streets. Nice looking courthouse, but scaffolding for work being done, so no pictures. Very clean town with beautiful storefronts and homes.

The funny thing about The Villages is that it started out as a trailer park way back in the 1970s. (I had a high school friend who lived there in about 1990, and it was a pretty basic place then. The family that owned it then went development crazy with homes and apartments. I also have a slimy cousin who lives there, and i went to visit him several years ago. (He became "slimy" after that visit--now I would not set foot anywhere near him and his wife.) I think a lot of people who live there, moved because it was the Yuppy thing to do, and something they could brag about. Personally, I agree that it has way too many people and too many golf carts and such--I prefer peace and quiet and something less busy.

Had my first PT appointment today for my shoulder. The therapist focused a lot on my neck and shoulders. My neck has been sore and stiff for the last couple of months, but I did not pay much attention to it, but she said it was the same set of nerves. She said I definitely had arthritis in that shoulder, but the way I described my pain and how I jumped when she moved my arm made her think nerves were also involved. I'm going to give it a try, at least. At least she listened to my description of how this painful shoulder was affecting my unusual life and how I was worried it would end my travels if I did not do something about it. I described all the things I could not do because that shoulder was so sore, such as reaching stuff in high cupboards, fixing anything on the ceiling or up high, etc. My past experience has been that doctors and nurses make a lot of assumptions about me being a typical old lady who spent her days sitting in a chair. (Last doctor kept reminding me to pick up rugs so I would not trip and fall, like I do not have a ton of other things that I am more likely to trip on!)

Good evening gals! Can't believe it is after 6pm already. I guess that is because I slept in late. Haven't done too much today.

My agent called to get more info on our 9-month occupancy rule so I went to the office to get a printout of it to send to him. Reading the fine print,it is really stupid and there really is no way they can enforce it. Anyways, he has a woman who contacted him from Orange County who is interested and says she can spend the summers with a friend in Orange County. He is gonna see when she can come out here to see the house.

It is nice to be able to relax and not have to think about house cleaning all the time now! Maybe I will get into better habits now! I do need to do laundry yet and work on painting the kitchen, altho I hate to make a mess in there now that it looks so nice and clean!

I found an ad for a job at JCPenny salon for a receptionist, at the mall. So I filled out an application online for it today. Will see what happens with that. I did peek in the salon yesterday while I was at the mall and they do have a comfy chair behind the desk so I would be able to sit a lot.

Last night there were 2 firefighter helicopters that collided in mid-air between here and LA while fighting a brush fire in the hills. SO sad, three of them were killed.

I have heard of the Villages. Sounds like a nightmare! They also have had sinkhole issues there.

I always liked having my gas pumped for me before that all changed. I don't like standing outside in the rain, snow, cold, heat, wind, etc. or having my hands smell like fuel. It is nice that Oregon will give customers the options now.

Time for a sloppy joe and see what is on TV.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Having someone pump gas was sort of a luxury! I never went to the Villages, but it doesn't sound like I'd care for it!

Woke before the alarm at 7:30 so I could have my leisurely morning before calling for a battery jump. It was pouring rain so hated to go out. I told the service guy I needed him to make me a list of all the stupid things to look for that drain the battery! Would you believe the mat in the cargo area had moved toward the hatch door and was blocking a sensor! The hatch would close and lock so I wasn't 'told' by the car there was an issue! Black on black so I didn't pay any attention. Grrr. Just one of those frustrations.

My brother is having new medical issues so I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear.

I went to one of my Meetup meals tonight. We can cross that restaurant off. I don't think anyone was impressed with what they got. Almost everything was over cooked. I got a seafood platter and had to ask for tartar sauce and it was the worst I have ever had.

I have been pumping my own gas for so long I can barely remember when they would pump your gas for you. I stopped for gas in Oregon when I was going to Seattle. I was digging in my purse looking for my credit card and when I looked up there was a man at my window. Startled me. I put the window down to see what he wanted and he wanted my credit card to pump my gas.

School is starting on Thursday. We never started until September when I was going to school and we didn't have all the time off. Here they will get a week off for Mardi Gras and a week off for Easter. Then a few weeks later a week off for spring break. Some schools are going to a 4 day week. I'm sure that will be a pain for working parents.

I don't think I would like The Villages. After looking at condos, sure hope I don't have to live in one.

I usually go out with Sugar when she wants out so I don't forget her. It's too hot for her to be outside in 100 degree temperatures. CC and Rascal went out when I got home so now I will have to spent 2 hours trying to get them to come in. They like to sleep all day in the air conditioning.

Anita, I have been thinking about a new car but don't know that I want to deal with all the new gadgets and systems. I am on a Facebook group for my motorhome and people with new motorhomes are always having problems with some of the new systems. Hope you brother is ok.

They can come up with buildings so fast now makes me wonder how strong they are. When it rains there will be buckets all over our new Walmart to catch the leaks. I notice new places that I have never seen before.

It's after the witching hour ... I usually try to go to the bedroom close to 11 it's after by a minute or two and I'm just starting to post... :?
I remember vaguely full service I think it even included oil check and tire checked windows washed but that was such a long time ago... I rather liked it when I went through Oregon and didn't have to get out and fill up the car I was driving... I think for the pampering I'd still for the service  I often wish it was offered else where as well but then is the gas higher did that affect the gas prices??
when I was in Driggs awhile ago I thought I don't remember seeing that building then the last time I went through I realized that there was a whole lot more to it (apartment building but not a high one) they can go up rather quickly
finally talked myself into getting off the bed I'd done the nothing things after reading scriptures like fb and knitting on a dish cloth and crocheting on the scarf... I have a problem with it I haven't been keeping track of the rows... to me the pattern looked fairly wide will need to go look at the pattern again if I can find it...
wow Barbie that would be great if one the gal likes your house or if you get that job... good luck either way
Anita did your brother enjoy his trip on the SS? Hopefully he starts feeling better
Sharon how is your granddaughter doing?
I am trying to to be tiffed at my brother... I had messenger my siblings letting them know about a couple of things going on one of which was mom not eating well so after the drs appt actually I waited a few days finally did so yesterday so my youngest brother said I might need to give her a meal supplement she has in the past been against them he mentioned a certain brand so tonight when I go out to take the garage down there is a partial pkg of this supplement and a mixer bottle...so either he stopped by but didn't come in  or he had one of his son's stop by and they didn't come in  it's irritating to me for what ever reason yes people are busy but take the 5 mins and come in say hi can't stay love you bye!!!
when I finally got out and about I make chicken noodle soup cool enough that it tasted good...
we had quite a thunderstorm again today not sure it rained much though... Cheryl ended up in a campground that had issues from the storm yesterday and they are full so can't move her to another site.. I'm sure that she will fill us all in
I need to go to my room still have clothes on the bed that I need to put away
you all have a great day
