Rabbits Tuesday, August 1

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rabbits Tuesday, August 1

Postby Bethers » Tue Aug 01, 2023 9:02 am

Good morning. I'm moving slow. I thought I'd be working today, but it looks like not till tomorrow or Thursday. I filled out my paperwork but they need a day or two to get it in the system, etc. It does look like I'll be working the closing shift (3 pm - 9/9:15 pm) and probably only 4 days a week. Whatever I do this week will be training so who knows lol

I've like sleeping the last two nights with my windows open. But I'm not thrilled with the 90% humidity. It's always something lol

Happy August to all. I did say rabbits at midnight.

Mornin' Beth & all that follow~~~

I did say Rabbits but not sure if I talked to myself first.

Still in Alpine WY today, then head to DuBois tomorrow. So pretty here. Took a ride in Grand Teton yesterday and found the fuzzy cows, then into Yellowstone from the south entrance.

Today is chore day. Ugh.

Have a happy and healthy August ladies.

Good morning Beth, Cheryl, and everyone else!

Beth, I'm glad you are settled for awhile and really hope you like it there. Cheryl. you're seeing so many beautiful places. Continue making memories. I'm looking forward to Pat checking in. I read here everyday to keep up to date with all of you.

I said rabbits as soon as I got up. We've been getting our fair share of rain since last week and we're having a rain storm as I type and our temperature dropped from 85 to 73. Have a good month!

Good morning to all - remembered to say rabbits first thing. Hope it works. Today it is a wonderful day here in Vegas. It actually went down below 80 overnight - 79 - but that is wonderful. Today is only supposed to be 96 - just today though. Tomorrow and on over 105 and back up to 110+. So will enjoy it while we can. Last night we got some rain and more is predicted for today and tomorrow. Hope it is over our part of the valley. Also yesterday we were covered with smoke from fire out by Searchlight. It is burning one of the areas with Joshua trees - they only grow one to three inches a year so it will take a long time to recover. 77,000 acres by last night 0% containment. But the area got rain over night so 23% containment this morning up to 80000 acres,. But it got rid of the smoke for a while.
Sunday morning we went out about 6:30 to breakfast then to Walmart. Just as we finished shopping the Covid exhaustion hit Bill. Almost didn't make it back to the car. It comes on so quickly. He'd been fine for several days. Has more good days now, but wish it would go away. Then it takes him a couple days to get his energy back. His eyesight is getting better too slowly. Gets another shot in a couple of days.
Went to the mailbox - community ones - and couldn't open it, mailman was there and said lock was broken and to let management know. Went to office and they said they are out of locks, will have to order one from overseas...If they knew they were out why didn't they order some??? They suggested putting mail on hold until fixed...or driving to PO to pick it up about 5 miles away. Going to try to catch mailman again today and ask if he can just put mail in box and I'll try to catch him every couple of days to get it.
My geraniums didn't make it through the heat, so have put some artificial flowers out there. Will just take them into garage when inspection is coming.
Between our house and the main street are three homes, all three residents died since last fall. When I told our son he said, well three down so I guess you are okay then. Also house right across street is empty cause they moved. Quiet around here. With the heat no one is going to the wetlands to hike, ride or play.
I read all the things every one else is doing and feel real lazy, but just too hot to move around or go anywhere. So living vicariously through every one else. Keep up the good work.

Being lazy today. I am slowly making room in my refrigerator and freezer but eating stuff but not buying anything else. This has left me room to make a couple of trays of ice cubes, which I was running out of.

Driving in here (small state park campground in lower Michigan) i noticed my rig's twin!!! In 11 years of traveling all over the US, I have never seen such a Tioga Ranger that was so similar to mine, at least on the outide! Identical paint job and color, about same year, but cleaner and not so scratched up. Man yelled at me as I drove past that he like my motorhome. A couple of hours later, after setting up and eating some dinner, I walked over there. They have only 19,000 miles on their version and are still working. And I found out it is one year younger, but not a convertible bunkhouse, like mine. They are gone all day today and I am leaving tomorrow morning, so we decided to tour each others rigs right then. I was amazed at how different theirs was. It had the side aisle to the back and a corner shower and completely different bathroom. Smaller couch and the original dinette, but living area seemed darker and more cramped than mine. They were amazed at the differences in mine also, and the husband said he had noticed that my slides were bigger when he saw me drive past. I am going to take a stroll down to their area tonight because I have a bunch of other questions, such as where they bought theirs and what their CCC is.

Did not sleep well last night, partly because my CO2 alarm went off at 2 am, so had to get up for that. Then got up at 9:30 am and made a reservation at Ortona South COE in Florida. Might take a nap.

Afternoon All, have been enjoying a little less humidity. I struggle trying to know when an avocado is ripe. Had one this morning that was too soft. Didn’t know what to do with it so smeared it on toaasted sourdough bread. Oh yeah. Lol Finished reading the book that reminded me of Nancy Drew from my childhood. Then skipped over the mushy parts and enjoyrped the mystery. Have a Mary Higgins Clark waiting. As a nine year old I read every Nancy Drew book I could get my hands on. I was scolded and told to get my nose out of that book and go outside and play. Lol People walking their dogs now do so on the grass since the sidewalk is so hot. This morning I went to the lavender fields in France, had a tour of a lovely town. Tour was lead by a bubbly young Irish woman. Had a my daily ration of dark chocolate. Life is good. Be safe

Today is the official day for listing my place! I put out the For Sale sign this morning. I am trying to get the ad for this place up on our park website but it won't accept my photos because they are too big. I have no idea how to resize photos. :? Will have to find someone to help me with that.

Dave and Debbie are back from their summer vacation and I am going over shortly to cut her hair. Maybe Dave can help me with the photos.

Later I want to blow off the dust from the deck, etc. And then maybe continue painting the kitchen. Also need to do laundry. At least the house is clean!! :D

Beth, I hope you enjoy your new job! What will you be doing there?

Cheryl, sounds like you are seeing lots of great places! I can't wait to get on the road and do the same!

Judy, I wonder if those people have had similar issues with their rig that you have had.

Shirl, I assume you mean 'avocado'?

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Rabbits, for sure! Which is funny, because, my Granddaughter just won Reserve Grand Champion in showmanship, with her bunny at county fair! She , and her brother, who showed turkeys and got Grand Champion in turkeys, are headed, near end of August, to Mn state fair with their animals: rabbit, chickens, ducks, turkeys.
It's only 84, at 11:24 today, a pleasant break, though back to triple digits over weekend.
Had handyman get filters from AC/heather air returns, down for me and timer just went off to go rinse cleaner off and shake to go out on front deck to dry. Hopefully dry before he leaves so he can put back up.
Slowly I'm checking off my neglected to do list, on which I fell behind from all the health issues. By time I finish this list, I'll be making another, but does feel good to get these major things done.
Have a good day everyone. I do read almost every day, just sometimes no energy to answer much.

I called about my awning part, and it is discontinued, so Fleetwood told me to call Dometic. They have not made manual awnings for a long time, but I decided to take some photos and try to get a better photo of what is broken. This campground is not very big or very full, but it looks like everyone has an electric awning, or their rigs are so small, they have very flimsy awnings.

barbie, I just sent you a private message. I can do your photos for you if you send them to the email I posted in the message right away. Takes me just a few minutes and I am just sitting and snacking right now

ShirlI have an avocado frequently in the morning. I buy them hard as a rock, put a couple in a dark place and when I feel at the top and it is getting softer I know it is time. If I get a mushy one I also mix it up with some lemon juice and put on toast....yum I also read all the Nancy Drew, Hardy boys, Sue Barton student nurse books LOL When Laura was here we watched a few movies of Mary Higgins Clark and they were real good. One was especially good with a twist at the end but of course I can remember the name of it. Laura might, she has a really good memory. Carol I just had my eye injections yesterday but I get them in both eyes. Only get dilated every so many weeks and no dilation yesterday so I recover quite quickly, takes longer for the dilation to disappear

Put the first coat of stain on my front deck and steps, boy it sure was dry sucked that stain up like crazy. I guess I will have to buy more stain before I do the back and side decs again, altho they probably wont need as much. That dang front deck was bigger than I thought LOL I still need to finish the backing on the steps and I hate that because you have to be somewhat of a contortionist and use a brush but hey I will get er done. Came in to rest my back before having lunch and a shower. It will feel better in a little bit just needs a rest.
Tacos for dinner, easy peasy. Just had a bowl of watermelon and half a sandwich now time to keep moving towards that shower!!!!

We've had a lovely cool day here and it has been wonderful. I didn't remember to say Rabbits though. I had to give the dogs their heart worm pills this morning and silly me gave Pippa's last. i guess she remembered or smelled them because I had to go find her. Never in all the years I have been giving dogs medicine have I had such a struggle! Her mouth is so small it was hard to get it open and then I couldn't hold it together long enough to get her to swallow it or get my finger in to push it down. She knew it was in the yogurt I tried to hide it in. It took at least 10 minutes but I think I got it down but it might be somewhere in all her hair. So much for them being chewable at least to her. Toby will eat them and with Emma I just open her mouth and put it way down the back of her throat as far as I can reach then hold her mouth shut till she swallows. Next month I'm going to give Pippa's first!!

Shirl I also read all the Nancy Drew books and anything else I could get my hands on. I can't think of the name of the book now where a dog was abused horribly but I remember it gave me nightmares for years. I had an older brother who brought home all the Ticktock and Jim books when he went into junior high. You couldn't check out books from the junior high library although the buildings were connected if you were in the lower grades. My Mom said they same thing-- put that book down and go outside. I like to mash up an avacado and put it on toast, yum. The last two I have cut open felt ripe but were definitely not, $$

I got Debbie's hair cut and we chatted for awhile and got caught up on their trip and what is happening around here.

I talked to the head maintenance guy here and he is sending over another guy in a bit to check out my leaky dishwasher. Maybe I can get him to install my microwave too!

Then I got a couple of frantic calls and messages from my last real estate agent so I called her back. She was getting a bunch of calls about my MLS listing because they had my house listed for $15,000. :o She thought it was some kind of scam and wanted to know what was going on. I told her it was not a scam and obviously was just a typo. I told her I would call my agent right away to fix it, which I did. She also wanted to know why I didn't list it with her again since she "worked so hard on my house and had all those showings". Huh?? :? Seriously? I think she has me confused with someone else! I just told her that this agent is a friend of mine and I decided to see what he can do for me. She didn't sound happy.

A special "thank-you" to Judy for resizing my photos so I could get the listing up on my community website today! :D

So it has been an eventful day! Whew!

I actually remembered Rabbits this morning!

I'm still working full time and we are really busy right now with all the post-legislative session work here in Oregon. The majority of my work doesn't start until the Governor signs certain bills. She is going to sign those on Friday so I'll be really busy next week. The week after that, I'm fulfilling one of my bucket list items by going ocean fishing. They shut down Salmon this year (which is what I really want to fish for) so just going for Rockfish and Cod. It's in the ocean and that's all that matters to me. I did a ton of fishing in Puget Sound when I was younger, but being in the ocean is one of the things I want to do. Karen and her friend are coming over to the coast where Karen will hang out at my trailer with the pups, while her friend and I are out fishing.

In September, I'm checking off another item on my bucket list by going to see Steens Mountain in SE Oregon. I've wanted to see it for years but the timing has never been right. The loop road is only open from mid-July through usually October. The rest of the time it is under many feet of snow and the road is not maintained. They just close the gates and wait until summer. So, I picked September because the mosquitoes aren't supposed to be as bad, and it might be just a teeny bit cooler than August. I found a cute little rv park with full hook ups and its about half the cost of the other places in town. There are no trees or anything, but for the price, I can run my a/c. When I called to add an additional day, I ended up talking to the owner for almost an hour LOL I can't wait to meet her in person. I added an extra day because I found out the Harney County Fair is going on while I'm there and I want to go. I haven't been to a rural county fair in years and I'm really looking forward to it!

After that trip, I might do one more trip to the KOA in Sutherlin by Karen. I had a great time hanging out with her and the pups. It is an old drive-in theater, so they show movies on Friday and Saturday nights.

To Karen's question about the name of the movie, I have no clue. I do remember that they were good movies, but don't remember the name.

I'm hoping work will slow down soon. I'm ready to give my brain a break. It's been on hyper-drive since October when the budget season started. There were times when we were working 6-7 days a week just to keep up.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Forgot to say Rabbits but just remembered to check in.

Met a very sweet lady in the complex today. She's from Serbia - such a lovely person. I hope to get to know her better with time.

Young couple just bought & moved into the condo adjoining mine. Today as I was stepping out, the young lady was coming out with a young German shepherd. They just got it on Saturday. It's 2 years old & very well mannered. I haven't heard a peep from it yet so I think they'll be good neighbors.

I'm trying to come up with something to take to other neighbors who had a baby a few weeks ago. Thinking maybe Sam's Club chicken salad, buns, potato salad & a fruit bowl - just so they have it available for meals whenever they want/need. It's too hot for hot meals (at least in my opinion). If any of you have other ideas, please let me know.

I really dislike the heat. I know it isn't as bad here as some of you have, but I really really hate going out during the day. The sun is so intense. Not sure how people stand being out in it.

Well, time to take Sadie out for the final time of the evening.
Take care & stay cool.

for some reason I've been missing the snooze alarm will hear the first then put it on snooze and wake up much later... which was the case today it was after 11 when I woke up and still had to give mom her thyroid pill so instead of brunch we had lunch pulled out the lunch meat and bread had sandwiches so then I read scriptures... actually watched the pod caste that I usually watch once a week they give a bit more information that is interesting.. then I worked on the hat it looks so big but it fits my head what little bit is done... texted my dd asked her to measure her head so I could see if it will fit or be to big she says it will be fine she likes them slouchy but there is a difference of been slouchy and simply not staying on cause it's way to big... oh well her choice right??
I did do the rabbits after midnight...
we will hope that it works
then got mom ready to go to the drs... she is still just hovering or 100 lbs... he would ask how are you eating she said just fine I said I've come up with an answer for that depends upon who you believe the person that puts the food on her plate or the one who dumps it out .... it was basically to do her blood work so that she can have her rx refilled... he marvels that she is still around I believe... so actually did not much tomorrow should got to the store I really need to make something more than sandwiches...
I love avocado toast... never thought about putting lemon juice in it... been making my own taco seasoning went to make some and can't find one of the ground herbs to put in it thought it was in the cupboard but guess I ran out and forgot so will get that and a few other things I can buy lots of stuff when I go in for just a few item's
I read those books as well and other's that I could get my fingers on..... I can't think of the name of them but the author was oh sure I knew it earlier who wrote Sue Barton I don't think that is the same one but these were usually based in World War 11 I think have a huge amount of them in dd's storage shed... there was another that I read where it was been to long since I've read them think she eventually goes into the theater...
you all have a great day
