Thursday morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday morning

Postby Bethers » Thu Jul 27, 2023 10:14 am

Time for me to hit the road. I'm taking the advice of many of you and looking for some type of hookups as long as I'm in this heat, which is most everywhere now. My original planned stop for tonight would have been cool enough, but now I'm taking a slightly more direct route because of one less day, etc. So it's harder to think about boondocking.

Stay cool.

Good morning 55 here this morning, in fact I had to put on my long sleeved shirt, but know I will be shedding it soon. 85 is our predicted high but always a bit warmer at my house than the airport just by a couple of degrees but it is all relative of course. Warm is warm. Hot is hot...LOL

Need to go to town today for a couple of supplies and of course need to clean up my house a bit. Still need to dust and have 2 more windows to do but we shall see. I like to keep up my house then it is not a huge chore to tidying it up. A little bit works for me each day. If I only work for an hour on the house I call it good. Need to tend my indoor plants today too, seems they have been a tad neglected lately but my Antherium is blooming and my Thanksgiving cactus are looking good. They had a bit of a setback when I repotted them but that is to be expected. All is well tho so I will take it. I dont have a green thumb when it comes to indoor plants. I kept some violets alive and thriving for years but the last one I bought bit the dust. Now I have an empty pot to look at and not sure what I will put in it again.

Beth good plan on getting electric, it is hot in NM according to my friend that lives in the Sandia mountains in ABQ. Her garden is suffering from too much heat and no rain.

Had breakfast so now time to start my day.

It is hot here too, Sue I had to laugh when you talked about the 80's being hot but I'm sure if you don't usually have that type of temps you do feel it. It noon and it's 92 but it feels like 106 the weather place says. It is supposed to be 99 tomorrow and Saturday. I will be climbing the walls with boredom. I just don't go out when it is that hot if at all possible to avoid. I don't sweat so have to be really careful. Yesterday was nice so I prepared some food to last for a couple of days. I sliced a peach into a bowl of milk and I'm having that for dessert when I finish my lunch. The milk gets a bit thicker and is sooo good especially when it sits overnight. I do add a bit of sugar ( less than a teaspoon) the peaches are so sweet I don't need much.
Emma and her friends left for a obedience trial in Murfreesboro,TN this morning and will be gone until Sunday evening.

Beth and anyone else on the road stay safe as you travel. Judy I'm glad most of your repairs are done I'm sure that is huge relief. You and Sue have a good time! Karen I wish I had your will power to get things done. My procrastination always wins.

I need to find a couple of new books if anyone has any suggestions, nothing heavy my mind needs a bit of entertainment.:)

Still barely morning here. I intended to get up early this morning when it was still coolish outside, to haul out bins from the shed but I didn't sleep well last night, so I slept in until 9:30. I went outside and swept out and hosed off the front of the driveway in front of the deck where I want to put the bins today. There was a lot of dirt and debris blown in there from the winds. I was out there in the shade for 5 minutes and had sweat running down my face! SO HOT! Came back inside to wipe off my face and cool off. I will let that area dry and then this evening when that whole area is shaded, I will put the bins out there. Too hot to do now. Will be 117* today.

So now I will spend the next 4 hours working inside to clean up any clutter areas I didn't get to the other day. And maybe do some painting as well. I am tired today but I won't take a nap, so I can sleep better tonight (hopefully  ). I took a long nap yesterday so that probably didn't help me last night.

BJ, I do the milk thing too but with sliced bananas and sugar. A yummy breakfast! :D As for books, when I just want to read something light and entertaining, I read a Chicken Soup series book. There are so many to choose from now. They are short stories and easy to pick up and put down again for later.

I better get busy...

Good afternoon to all. Going to be another hot one here today too. Somewhere around 115. Yesterday I went out to lunch with a girlfriend and when I got back to my car is couldn't open the door the handle was so hot. Had to use my blouse to hang on to it. I had put towel over steering wheel, but is was still almost too hot to touch. I have a convertible so it really lets in the heat (with the top up). So sick of the heat and am dreading getting our power bill. Have had about 20 days of 109 to 116 - enough already. We finally brought the RV home from the dealer where it has been sitting after getting repaired. They called and said pick it up or we'll charge you storage. We hate to put it in the lot here where we live 'cause that is where it got stolen from a couple of years ago. The management keeps talking about putting up gates at the Rv lots, but so far they haven't. Any way it was too hot when we got it home to do any thing in or with it. So yesterday morning got up at five a.m. and went up to it at five thirty - already in 90's. We wanted to take out the 15amp fuse that disables the starter, but neither of us could open the case under the hood that the fuses are in. Three days ago Bill came down with tendinitis in his left wrist. Quite painful so he is on meds for it. Supposed to be wearing a brace, but he won't. Not my problem...It is feeling better though. Seems like it is one thing after another with him. Covid seems to really screw with ones body long after you have had it. I even find myself wanting to take more naps then I ever did before.
Here is another picture of that big sphere in Vegas. Drivers are complaining about it disrupting traffic, cause people slow down to watch it or pull over and stop.

We are also going to have a Formula 1 race here in November so for months streets have been closed along the strip for repaving so the area is nice for the race cars. And they are redoing the Tropicana bridge over the freeway - what a mess to try to go any where in that area.

Just checking in again before I find my pillow. I'm at a city park with free electric tonight. I found a donation box so will donate before leaving. I love when cities do this. Ty liked walking in a grassy park.

Carol, I went out to dinner with my friend Ginger a night or so before leaving Benson. I burned my hand on the handle to restaurant. Ouch. I know how you feel. That store is cool looking. I'd definitely slow down to see it.

BJ, yep, it's really what you're used to. That said, I never minded the heat when younger. And not even that many years ago. But since having heat stroke maybe 5 years ago I can't handle it well at all any more. But I'll admit to and I were out walking the park here when it was still 98 and being under the trees in the grass was almost livable. But not livable like no AC needed. Yep, my AC is doing it's job.

I spent time picking out, hopefully, good spots for my next two nights on the road. Sunday I'll reach my destination. I lost an hour both yesterday and today so it's amazing that I'm so tired. But I am, so off to bed I'm going.

before I forget BJ look up some of Mrs Polifax books they are a light read but fun at the same time... she is elderly decides to volunteer to help the FBI she is kindly told no then they rethink it... it's a series of several books but I don't remember the authors name...
it was one of those days that I had to force myself out of bed so I was late wish made breakfast late and scriptures were late and then I picked up a new book shouldn't have done that then decided that I needed to give mom a shower has the laundry was going to be picked up tonight instead of Sunday so wanted to give her shower first... then of course supper so that was my day
have a safe trip Beth
it would be really hard to do anything outside Barbie in that heat
Carol can you put a lock on the steering wheel? or on the tires don't the police have something that locks the tires so the vehicle can't been moved or have the battery removed something so that it's not moveable... also I've seen a advertised on Hallmark a device that looks like a security camera but if it senses movement bright lights shine which are solar powered ... don't remember what the name is says it's easy to mount but honestly don't know if it would work on a RV siding but possibly worth checking out... that sounds hot might need to carry a hot pad in the purse to open the doors with....
it was a cooler day today not sure what it was but felt cooler...
oh I remember what else took some time I wanted to put my granddaughter's phone number in my phone it took calling dd#4 to figure it out... that of course took some time and putting in another phone number as well ... and I will admit to FB for awhile...
I really ought to take myself to bedroom in a few
finished the border on the new afghan
you all have a great day

I spent 4 hours on my bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen this afternoon. Just putting stuff away and making things look nice and neat and clean for showing. My agent thought my bathroom shower curtain and window valance were too "girly" (yellow flowers and ruffles  ) so I replaced them with a new curtain and valance that are more gender neutral (teal and beige). I didn't like the shower curtain tho. It didn't look like the photo on Amazon and had some bright orange on it that looked beige in the photo. So I will return that. I ordered a different one so am hoping that will work better.

At 6pm I went outside to go thru the shed and pull out the bins. It was still super hot out even in the shade so I had to go inside every few minutes to cool off and drink more water. Still only took about 20 minutes to get what I want to take to the storage unit, out on the driveway. Covered it all with blankets overnight. After taking my stuff to the new unit and returning the van, I will get back to cleaning up the rest of the living room and porch tomorrow and Saturday. Sunday I hope to get the deck cleaned up. It is filthy with dust covering everything! It is "only" supposed to be 110* on Sunday! Then just work on painting, get the new microwave installed, get a plumber over to check the dishwasher, and a couple other small projects that I can work on next week.

Have a good night!

BJ, I highly recommend Jean Grainger. The Tour series is wonderful! See my post in Books.
