Sunday July 23

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday July 23

Morning All, still dealing with the horrible humidity. The large pot of geranium on the balcony are loving the weather. I’m surprised the house plants are surviving the cold temperatures inside but they are. I’m serving another of life challenges. The hardest part was the decision to not drive any more. Ordering groceries on line and having family pick up is going well. No more farmers market for sourdough bread but #2 daughter took me for a ride 30 miles away to their bakery and I have 3 loaves in the freezer. #1 and her husband came to move tv closer so that I can see it better. #1 great gd is learning to drive and said she would like me for a co-pilots. Will think about that. Lol Just wanted to explain how my life has changed but will not dwell on what I can not change and I will adapt. Chicken tenders marinating for an air fryer dinner. Martha glad you were hanging on. Beth, hope repairs arranged. Karen and Anne your gardens sound wonderful. Shelia yours too. Barbie hang in there. Everyone be safe

Welcome back, Shirl.

You have been missed. So sorry to hear about your driving decision, I'm sure it was very difficult. My thoughts are with you.

Did you ever get the dehumidifier that you ordered? You may have posted, but I am not completely up to date reading the posts.

My very best wishes to you, Shirl. You are a trooper!

Anne, I did finally get the dehumidifier. It has helped . Ac is set on 72° and humid is around 52°. IT’s recommended to have 45° for asthma but I can’t seem to achieve that. I use the inhaler, hang on and wait for fall. Lol.

Welcome back indeed Shirl. I know you said you were taking a break, but yesterday I was thinking it was long enough  Sorry to hear of your driving decision. We all face that somewhere along life’s road. It’s that loss of independence that makes it so hard. But sounds like family is stepping up.

It’s a beautiful day here in northern Michigan. Currently 75° with a nice breeze. Guess we are supposed to get pretty warm by mid week. I to upper 80’s. So I won’t be doing much outside, that’s for sure. Everything’s pretty much taking care of itself right now anyway.

I put second coat of blue on my statue yesterday, think I will go start the white after I finish this. Got a couple bags of River Stone yesterday, so might put it where I need it. Otherwise not Into much. Will go water flowers out front. Changed the outfits in the kids out there, back to their farmers duds. Time to put the patriotic ones away. Will be working on the Fall farmers ins this week probably if it gets hot.

Martha, glad you were holding on to the handle and didn’t take a fall. Anita, are you getting rid of the Sling? Barbie, sorry the Job Fair was a bust.

Good morning. Glad to see Shirl's back. I always worry when I dont see any posts from our regulars. Been outside watering but that is all I am doing today. Have a community meeting this afternoon, dont know much what it is about but figure I can spare an hour to see what, if anything is in the works.
Barbie what a disappointment your trip was. Sounds very disorganized and what a dumb place to have it in the middle of the desert wow.
Martha glad you are recovering, that could have been disastrous. Glad you are okay.
Laurndry is in so will do a few housekeeping chores. Today will be the kitchen. Cleaned the air fryer, toaster, stove and counters. Now need to get Henry on the job in the kitchen to get all the bits of things off the counter and toaster area. I dont like to crunch when I walk LOL

Off to the shower and tidy the bedroom.

Anita, I can't imagine you without the Sling. I was hoping you might take another trip, even if a short one, that I could follow along. But I know we are all making changes. Shirl, I definitely feel for you making the decision to stop driving. You're very lucky to have such a loving, helpful family and it's great knowing they're all stepping up. Every few years I take an online drivers safety course. I'm taking it now, started yesterday. Love that I can do part then go to something else. But I intend to have it done before hitting the road. My insurance renewal is mid-August and I don't like how it's gone up, so I want all the discounts given and I'm shopping around.

I turned the RV fridge back on yesterday. I'm sticking with my goal to have everything ready tomorrow even though I now know my take off won't be until Wednesday. Most of my fridge stuff got moved over this morning and by tonight I'll hopefully have the casita fridge turned off. Ty and I will be back sleeping in the RV tonight. I'm ahead of schedule, but it gets hot so early that I try to do a lot earlier in the morning. So yesterday cleaned the RV fridge, vacuumed the RV, etc. This morning the trips walking things over, etc. Hey I have over 30 homemade freezer meals I transferred. Plus I still have a few meats I can use to make more and have other cooked chicken and shrimp in there. I won't be starving, that's for sure. After I've made sure I've got everything in the freezer in going to see if I have enough room to get a pound or more of the spicy chicken tenders from this Safeway. They are awesome and I just discovered them this return to Benson. I'd love to add them to my dinner mix.

When Ginger moved away from Benson during COVID, she gave me lots of things including the porch glider. Since she moved back I've tried to return a few things and she finally accepted getting the glider back. It's beautiful and she's so awesome to have given it to me, but she deserves to enjoy it. So she's coming with help this afternoon to take it back.

It rained overnight and there are some areas over the porch now leaking. I hope everything gets done on that soon. I have confidence in the contractor selected and the park office recommends him based on previous work he's done here.

Ok, I just wrote a book. Take care everyone. Karen, you beat me. I also did a load of laundry this morning. Washed, hung out, and in and out away already. I'm looking forward to being able to sleep in again sometimes lol

The weather has been kind to us the last few day so I'm happy. Just had a message earlier that a long time friend from Florida is going to be in town tomorrow and we are meeting for a late breakfast. She is a school nurse in Fl but her son still lives in the area. I haven't see her in about 4 years so we have a lot to catch up on.
Shirl it is good to see you back! Hopefully it will be an early fall and bring better temps and lower humidity. Anita will your brother have your Sling all the time or will he 'loan' it back to you at times? Beth so sorry to hear of your roof troubles. Insurance seem to be increasing everywhere, our auto is going up 13%. The woman we work with searches for the best rates that fit our needs. I think she is about to retire and I will definitely miss her experience. Martha sorry about your fall but grateful you didn't break any bones although the pain might has been as bad. Barbie that is unreal!! Also what false advertisement. Have you thought about getting an online job or is your computer connection strong enough? The other thing I wondered is, are there people near you who need help with daily living, like someone to shop or just be a companion for a few hours and help with light chores. Regular house cleaning here is $30.00 per hour and I would think assisting someone would pay more especially out there.
Have forgotten what else I was going to say, it's time for my nap.

Regarding the Sling - I'm 'loaning' it to my brother. :) It is so much cooler on the Olympic Peninsula in the summer and so many places to ride. I try to get over there every 6 months so it will be mine when I'm in town. I can always take it for days/weeks at a time. I didn't expect riding over here to be so limited. He has a garage so will be inside and he's picky, so he'll take care of it better than I have been able to and probably get some extras done.

Shirl, so glad to see you back, but totally understand life challenges at various levels. As expected, your family is stepping up to the plate! Sorry the dehumidifier isn't more helpful. Barbie, what a joke that job fair was - sponsor should be ashamed! Martha, hope you are doing better today. BJ, nothing like a visit with a long time friend. Beth, you'll soon be on the road - new adventures!

Finally had a real text conversation with my daughter last night. She's been busy so haven't pushed it, but it had been a while. Maybe my asking for a ride home from the train station and learning the Sling is leaving made her realize we haven't talked. She's applying for different jobs at school! I hope one of them works out.

I vacuum here and there as needed, but really need to mop. Entire apartment is vinyl except the 2 bedrooms. Think dusting had better make my list as well.

Shirl, glad you have family to help you. I don't know about being a co-pilot for a beginning learner. When I see one of the student driver cars I think the instructor has better nerves than I do. If we lived close together you could run the roads with me. lol I went to Lafayette and had lunch with 30 people. It was slow but nice. We had two great servers. I can't remember what my order is much less orders for 15 people. I had seafood gumbo, fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried oysters, a small bowl of étouffée, small bowl of cole slaw, hush puppies and french fries. I brought half of it home.

I wish my brother in Canada lived closer. He is Mr Fixit. There use to be a sign at someone's house on the way to town for Home Repairs. I always wondered if he ever got any work because his house could sure use some work. lol

My knee and shoulder are sore today. Guess Aleve will be my friend for a few days.

We were suppose to have rain today but I don't see any on the radar. It has only gotten up to 97 today instead of 100. I don't know what I'll do this week. I'm sure I'll think of some reason to go to town.

it was a typical Sunday so church then home and fixed a "lunch" mixed fruit bowl and toast... mom ate some fruit and drank her milk ... on chat my sister asked if she is eating well her answer??? yes so for supper and I will admit that I blew it with the reheating of what we brought home on Friday... but she ate tots the meat didn't look good it was better than it looked actually but I got to thinking about it I think the sandwich had the end pieces in it which sometimes are darker (it was a pulled pork more chunks than pulled  ) anyway she calls this eating well? I texted sister back and said she lies through her teeth... couldn't say it on chat lol after lunch of course was scripture reading and nap not sure what got the most time... lost a book mark have had this book mark for many many years and no idea where it disappeared to I keep it in one book only it wasn't there when I opened it up to read such a puzzle hopefully it's on the bed and I forgot yesterday to put it in the book
her husband was always skinny one of those you looked at sideways and he wouldn't be there ... actually the Bar J Wranglers had a joke about that but can't remember what it was... she told mom that she didn't want her to get as skinny as Chico ended up being ... he had Alzheimers
Carol I saw something the other day and thought of you we had to make a potty stop and coming out of the convenience store and saw these pots of really pretty flowers and thought wow those are doing good even in the heat we have had...then wondered so felt them and they were plastic it honestly had me going for a bit ... but it also made me wonder about your dead plants these "plants" were in big pots half whiskey barrel type so perhaps the plants would do better if in a larger pot more soil so that they wouldn't have dried out so fast although demanding real in that heat is still not thinking but ...
you all have a good day
