Dark, Rainy Thusdsy

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Afternoon. Guess all the usual posters are busy today or we are into the “same old” rut. It’s been raining here for the past couple hours. A nice light soaking rain. Had one flash or lightening and a rumble of Thunder when it started, but that was it. Molly was outside sleeping, bot paying it any mind, but I told her to get in here. We are under a Level 1 Severe threat and just on the western edge of Level 2. Being being it’s only 67°, I don’t look for anything to build up. They have been saying it will be more likely over the astern side of the State if enough heat builds up and more into late afternoon. Unless the sun comes out, there won’t be any heat buildup.

So this was a good morning to clean house, although I hate having to put lights on to see what I’m doing. This was just light housekeeping today, since nice I did a really deep cleaning a week ago roughly. Now to do some bookwork and then craft stuff. Everything outside is un der control, so really nothing needing dong out there, other than mowing back yard such as it is. Wanted some rain to cut down in the dust.

O’Sharon, your mention of fireflies brought back memories of catching them in my aunt’s back yard on the Clinton River. I haven’t seen any in years and maybe they are not in the northern part of the state. Not only are the days starting to get shorter, but the school supplies are starting to appear in the stores, so you know that the season is beginning to change. Sales on summer outdoor stuff has been going on for awhile too.

I am sitting in the rest area near Clare, Sue, waiting for that storm to pass over. Headed to Traverse City and don’t want strong winds. Just started raining a couple of minutes ago.

Another hot, sunny northern california July summer day ! Will be triple digit temps today and next several, before back to 90's again. Miss Stormy had a six mo check last night by our wonderful mobile vet. All still good for her 18 1/2 birthday! Still eats well, my little carnivore does! And does typical cat stuff, here in her indoor kitty queendom. Has a bit of arthritis in one knee, but still jumps up to where she wants to be. She loves to check on me between 3 and 4 am, sitting on my chest, hollering at me until I reach a hand out from under covers and tell her I love her, then she is content to get down and go back to bed or prowl her queendom, checking out all windows to make sure no invaders present! Nothing special going on here. Finished all but one paperwork project yesterday. Got a new Blueray player, after discovering our old one would no longer update ( no new updates produced) so newer media will no longer play. Got a good deal on Amazon Prime Days sale. Works well and 2 discs we had that refused to play, now work great. And all our older discs will also play, so wil be digging in to our collection if we got bored during the production strike.
Still no date for sleep study, an ongoing source of my frustration. At least, for moment, my BP is stable at normal to lower end of high, on the 3 RXs ! Walking helps keep it there, so treadmill and I and YouTube/podcasts/ audible are frequent companions.
Making a list of larger items I want to downsize out of my house . Hope in weeks to come, my upholstery lady will finish front seats of my pickup, reupholster interior of add on cab, then she and handyman reinstall seats, so I can use truck to haul larger items to donate. Too hot for them to do interior right now, but, as Sue said, days are getting shorter.
Looking forward to fall, though not looking forward to holidays, which stress me out and make me sad for days when we were a happy, busy family of 4.
My Granddaughter and their dogs Fina and Ranger have been doing dog shows this summer - obedience type competition. This past weekend, they won several blue and red ribbons and Emmaline and Fina took Grand Champion of the show. So proud of the work she has done with 4H and their dogs.
Have a safe day!

Just came in from outside. It was chilly when I went outside only 60 but sun is peeking out now and we are supposed to be 90 so will definitely warm up. Making my sausage, mushroom, spinach, and cheese quiche. I am making a crustless one which pretty much amounts to an egg casserole. But way more calories in the crusted one. Harvested some green beans this morning to have with it for dinner. They were just the bush beans so they are about done now. Dont think I will plant them again for the space they take up the yield is small. First time I ever planted bush beans. I used to plant the string beans but dont really have the room here for that, easier to buy them LOL

I have to go out this afternoon so guess I will take a shower and get my going to town clothes on instead of my work clothes. Might stop at the Food Truck lot and see what I fancy for lunch.

It's still morning here. I tried to organize a cabinet in my RV this morning. I got a little accomplished and laughed so hard when I found a can of vegetables I don't know why I would have ever bought. Not a veggie I eat from a can or put in stews, etc. So looked at the date 2017. Lolol. It was the only out-of-date item I found, but found a few I want to use before they get there. Still waiting on the service guys. I almost want to take bets on whether them saying yesterday morning "by Friday" really means Friday. I'd like to run to town. I need to fill my gallon jugs of water.

High supposed to be 106 today, so Ty and I got our morning walk in while it was still low 70's. It's amazing how fast the temps go up. It's 97 now and predicted to hit 100 soon, then not get below it until after 7. We can walk again then because the sun will be losing behind the mountains so not heating the pavement. Thank goodness for that and the low humidity then. I'll still work up a sweat unless there's a nice breeze.

Karen, I enjoy food trucks. Haven't seen any here.

It got up to 101 again. It wasn't suppose to rain until Saturday but it had rained when I went through Abbeville and again in Lafayette. I had one of my meetup meals. We went to a burger place and I had a hamburger with mushrooms and swiss cheese. It was the best burger I have had in a long time. I can see ordering one to bring home when I'm in Lafayette.

Yesterday when I went out to mow there was a 2 foot alligator in the yard. The nosey cats had him surrounded. Another good reason to use a flash light when I go out at night. Good enough to give me a heart attack. I chased him out to the road with the mower and hope he moved on.

Beth, hope your door men show up so they don't hold you up when you want to leave.

Martha, so glad you got a good burger at this meal. I'm glad the alligator leaves the cats alone. Would make me jump, that's for sure. And, no, they didn't show today.

Late afternoon, early evening, a storm came through. High winds, thunder and lightening, rain. Unfortunately with it came roof damage to my casita. I think it's only the part of the roof over the porch area. But I'll find out more tomorrow. The roof blew all over my car and the dude of my newly washed and waxed RV. I'll get the hose out in the morning and hope it'll clean enough just with that. And I'll go in the office and see what I need to do, etc. after finding my insurance policy. The office will have a record of when the roof was replaced and by who and maybe there's some warranty left, also. Hopefully it won't delay my leaving Tuesday, but I shall see. What a mess.

that is too bad Beth... hopefully it's not a lot of damage ... and that it can be fixed sooner than later...
the other day when I was at the store guess that was yesterday I decided to check and see if the store had blue bunny huckleberry nope they didn't but they had Pistachio Almond sometimes I can't resist it ... it came home without much melting and it was so creamy so yummy totally enjoyed the bowl I had... mom was asleep fill a little guilty not sure she would enjoy the nuts in it anyway ... I got some ice cream last week one of the little containers called Mexican hot choc it really surprised me yes had the choc but also vanilla possibly to represent the shipping cream? didn't taste what I usually taste in Mexican Hot Chocolate either.. was a bit disappointed
did get the afghan fringe trimmed and out to the car also took out the paper towels and butt whips that I plan on returning... wrong brand and style how is that for being picky???
we have been hovering in the mid 80's for us that is hot... and when it stays that way for days one really notices it... just as much as we notice the cold
my mental list wasn't long but checked it all off... tomorrow will be gone most of the day if not all of it... hopefully home before it gets dark though...
you all have a great day

So sorry about the damage to your casita roof Beth. Hopefully the damage is minimal and you’ll be able to leave on schedule.
