Morning. 57° here and a bit cloudy. Supposed to be around 87 today. Karen, your weather and mine are the same. Beautiful clear days, low humidity and comfortable temps. We’ve been in low to mid 70’s and cool nights. Today is an exception for the temp. We had some nice rain on Saturday afternoon for awhile.

Nothing much new here. Been busy working on the planter box. Hoping to finish today. Especially if it’s going to be hot. Also did some trimming and cleaned up the POA walking pathway and watered the entrance flowers, mowed my grass. Having to get up early to keep Molly on her pill/drop routine gets me outside earlier. Going to go around with the weed whipper first thing this morning.

Martha, friends of mine used to put coffe cream on ant hills and the ants disappeared. Using poison where your dog runs around seems kind of dangerous. Shirl, sorry you are having a bit of a bump in the road of life. Somebody mentioned checking to see if you could get a stronger prescription in driving glasses, might not hurt to check. I would hang on to that license for ID purpose for now. I dread that day too. I’ve gotten to where I’m not comfortable driving in a lot traffic, especially unfamiliar areas. Probably because I’m too used to the open roads and light traffic up here. Fortunately we have a county bus system here. But still……

Had a bit of sad news last night. Found out snooping online, that a dear friend of mine passed away a month ago. She moved to an assisted care facility near where her daughter and sister live. Had been having a lot of health issues. I called her frequently, but then got a recorded message that number was no longer in service a couple months ago,, so lost contact with her. Was searching through obits for awhile and never found anything, but something told me to check obits again last night and there it was. Never really knew the family, so they probably didn’t know how to contact me or never thought of it. We lose a lot of people as we get older, especially if you are an only child as I am. . I remember my dad telling me that all of his friends were gone as he got older since he was in same boat. Brother and sister preceded him at a young age.

Better get moving here before it starts gettng too warm out there. Have a nice dsy everyone.

Sounds really lovely. I shouldn't complain, though. Although other parts of the country have been frying, here in Northern California it has been an incredibly mild summer, as such things go.

When I got up at 6:30 the temp was only 57*!!

Good morning my temp is 57 too LOL with a high of 82 today. Right now it is cloudy and has only warmed up to 60 but I see the sun trying to peek thru. I am going out...soon.... to install my cameras. I got my mounts last night at 6:48 PM from my mailman...sheesh. They get later and later every day. So if something says it will arrive on WED I really wont get to use whatever it is until THURS. So it is more like 3 day shipping instead of 2. Used to be 1 day shipping but those days are gone. And I know it isnt Amazons fault but annoying anyway

Henry did his job so now I think I should dust LOL when the sun shines thru my window it is very evident that I should dust. I dont think I am going anywhere today but ya know, that could change. Having a chicken/cheese/jalapeno quesadilla for lunch with the last of the chicken. Picked 2 yellow and 2 zucchini today but I have to tell ya, as much as I like it I think I am getting sick of it ha ha I want the tomatoes to ripen. I have one starting to turn, we shall see how long it takes to get a nice sweet juicy one.

I have been getting a good squash harvest for a while now, although I have had to cover my tomato plants to prevent sun scald on those hot 100 degree days.

Tomato harvest started Saturday, the tomatoes are much larger than I expected, because I don't look at the tomato plants every day due to them being covered.

This yummy Cherokee Purple weighed 1 1/2 pounds on my digital kitchen scale! Several others still coming on look to be larger.

I picked stuff out in the garden on Saturday until I got good and tired. The zuchinni got a little too big (always happens!), but I just core them and cube them (and freeze them) and they cook and taste just fine.

The big tomatoes are the Cherokee Purple, medium size ones are Celebrity II, the small ones are grape tomatoes.

I made fresh salsa from the Cherokees and my garden onions last night.

Regarding stronger glasses for driving - the doctor gets you as close to 20/20 vision as possible so presumably your glasses are already as strong as they can be. As we age, our eyes change and vision diminishes even with prescribed glasses. Anne, that is quite a harvest!

I finished my post on here yesterday, looked out the window to see a helicopter with a water bucket! He was dipping into the river and there was a lightening fire on a nearby ridge. From reports, I could probably have seen the smoke but it blended with the clouds. They took care of the fire quickly. We never did get rain. This morning I was on my second cup of coffee when a Jeep drove by in the parking lot with a rickety utility trailer. He pulled up to the dumpster across the way. At first I thought it was a new resident, but then he turned around. I took a photo. Then he drove to the dumpster on this side which I can't see from inside. Out I went in my pajamas and robe to take photos. He saw me. Next thing I know, he is back at the first dumpster removing his trash - which appeared to be pieces of drywall! He even got in the dumpster!

My dad used to talk about "10 minute" jobs taking 2 hours. Well, I am working on one of those "10 minute " jobs today. Going on 2 hours and still not finished!

I got a random burst of energy and motivation today so I am running with it, since I don't know when that will happen again!

So anyways...I have a small patio in front of my shed and a small patio in back of my shed. In the front I have my patio table, chairs and umbrella. In the back, I have my swing sitting on a large piece of faux grass. I decided to move the grass to the front patio. Easy, right? Just move the swing and pull the grass piece to the front. Well, not so easy. The grass had weeds growing in it from, I am guessing some birdseed that fell from my neighbors bird feeder, and started growing. The whole thing was also full of dirt/dust, dog/cat poo, and a million roots running underneath it from the weeds. I had to turn it over and pull off all those roots, then hose down the top and bottom of the grass. Then hose off the patio which was full of dirt. Then hose that towards the front patio. I didn't want to leave the grass piece on the lawn where I had laid it to clean off, so I pulled it back onto my sidewalk area to dry. Let me tell you how heavy a 5'X8' piece of soaking wet faux grass is!! Like dragging a pallet of bricks! Finally got it where I wanted for now, to dry in the sun. Put the swing back in place. Then had to hose the pile of dirt and debris from around both sides of the shed towards the front lawn and driveway. Then hosed off the chairs I put on the front lawn. Whew! So that is as far as I have gotten for now since I had sweat dripping down my face and was getting too hot. (it is 100* out there! )Wish it was a little cooler out or at least a little more breeze. Once the sun is on the other side of the shed, I will move the table and umbrella (which will be in the shade by then) and put down the grass, which hopefully will be a little lighter to move. If I am still motivated while I am out there, I will move my car and hose down the driveway and maybe even the deck! Will see!

Then, while I was inside cooling off for a bit, I decided to call the mini split guy to make an appointment. Had to go in my bedroom to get my phone, and as I was reaching for it, I glanced out the window, and there he was! The mini split guy's van was parked across the street! I ran over and talked to him. He will be here sometime tomorrow to check things out. Yay!

Now I have a couple phone calls to make while I am relaxing and cooling off. But I gotta keep going as long as my energizer bunny batteries are charged! Lots more on my list to do that I have put off for too long lately.

Not much going on today. It rained 1 3/4 inches. I thought about going to mow in Maurice because I didn't think it was raining that far North but I wasn't loading the mower in the rain. It was lightening and there must have been a strike close. My internet was down and when I started checking the breaker for the bedroom the router is in was tripped.

Anne, that's quite a harvest. What do the Cherokee tomatoes taste like? I don't find that tomatoes taste like I remember from when I was a kid. A baloney sandwich with a slice of my grandpa's tomatoes was the best. I have been wanting to see if I could fry yellow squash in my air fryer.

Tomorrow night I have a Meetup meal at a Japanese restaurant. I looked at their menu online and don't know what I will order.

Well, I was able to move the grass piece to the front patio and get that done. Rearranged my living room furniture so the AC guy can get to the mini split easy. I like how I have it better now anyways. Added a rug I had in the porch that looks nice in there. Even did my laundry today! Gave myself a manicure and pedicure too.

Got a few more things crossed off my list so it was a very productive day! I wish I could do that every day! Or at least a couple days a week!

Absolutely nothing on TV tonight so just playing music and reading before heading to bed. Hoping to get my bedroom cleaned up and get more of my books packed away tomorrow.

Got to 104* today but will be going up the rest of the week with it hitting 118* by next weekend!

my cousins daughter (I've never met her in person) started up a food page on FB and occasionally the term hot dish would come up and I really wondered what in the world that was.... putting two and two together finally decided that it probably was what we in my region call casserole maybe easier to spell but it's not the correct term unless you grew up using it so hopefully I will remember how to spell casserole now...
wow I like your produce haul.... you have done a good job... if I remember too do so I will look at a recipe for using zucks that was a bit different so perhaps it might sound good to you Anne it did too me so I saved it... but here we usually have to buy them and that is so hard to do and not sure if mom will enjoy them or not... Martha's dish does sound good and Martha I've seen recipes to do them in the A/F let us know how it works...
Sounds like Barbi had a really productive day me not so much trip to the store with stops at the bank to deposit some checks for mom stop at post office to mail a bill and a stop at a place to drop off a bill lucked out there just getting out of the car when a police office asked if he could help so he took the bill up the the drop box ... was so nice of him...
I've know people who use the scooter's and while on the ship I used one... was able to kept up with the kids that way... my sister uses a walker when she goes out she takes the walker and the wheelchair uses the walker to get out of the car then into the wheelchair its exhausting.... I actually think the scooter would work for her but she is also one that for the most part if it's not her idea it won't work...
Anita Glad you caught the guy dumping construction waste... it fills a bin so quickly and was really amazed that he removed it...
getting down to the last half of my last section on the crocheted afghan about 17 rows including the border
so just a couple more weeks need to get the yarn for the next one... #3 dd was in Idaho Falls on Sat but she had her granddaughter and decided that she simply wasn't up to taking her into a store... she was being overly active... my granddaughter wants sage baby sunshine white and lavender blue not sure just yet what order I will put them in although it maybe the order I wrote them down in will need to get them and play around with them a bit....
