Morning All, I am really miserable. Humidity has been and will be between 90-100%. I was counting on the Dehumidifier to improve conditions. Friday USPS was 2 miles from daughter the delivery site. Instead they took it back across the bridge to Baltimore ??? I have the ac so low trying to lower inside humidity that it is very uncomfortable. I have also decided to give up my driving license because of failing eyesight. Needless to say I am not in a happy place. I will adjust it will just take a little time. Going to take a little break, fall back so I can jump higher. Be safe

Good morning Shirl. Sorry you are suffering so badly with the humidity. I dont think I would be able to breathe back there either. Our humidity is 65% but the dew point is 48 so dont even notice it. Nice morning 53/84 so will be warming up this afternoon. Is your dehumidifier working okay?? Giving up your license is a sad day for sure. I know that day will come for many of us. So far even with my macular degeneration I am doing fine but need to wear my glasses when I drive. Can you get a stronger prescription for driving??? just a thought.

Going to straighten out my shed today as I bought a label maker to help that process rather than opening several tubs to find what isnt even in there this should help. My camera mounts should be here today but since my mail doesnt come until late in the day tomorrow I will see if I can mount them earlier in the morning. Picking up a few groceries that are on sale today. I try to only buy the stuff that is on sale at Safeway as it is a pretty expensive store. I want to get that project finished.

Need to get my fertilizer together to do the garden, flowers, and my Hydrangeas. That seems to take longer than I think it should LOL I also need to wash my car it is super dusty so might do that this afternoon.

Off for a shower and get ready to go to town.

I am so very sorry to hear of your distressing news. I can't imagine humidity being 90 - 100%. I just can't. I know that I complain - a lot - about how hot it is here (actually, it has been in the high 80's to low 90's the last several days, unusual for us - with humidity about 40%) but I have lived here on the West Coast for most of my life where excessive humidity just isn't a factor.

Sorry to hear about your driving decision. This must be devastating for you. I would be for anyone. I had to severely limit my driving for several months due to diplopia (double-vision) but finally, finally I was able to get a prescription that corrected this.

I sincerely hope and pray that you might find some solution for your vision problems.

You are such a TROOPER, Shirl!! I admire you tremendously, and have enjoyed reading your daily updates more than I can say, and think about you often, both here on the Forum and even when I am just messing about doing my daily chores.

I understand your need to take a break. Hopefully it is a short one and you are able to find the needed resolve/spirit/energy (whatever it is!) to push forward once more.

Having your desperately needed package go astray, just at the wrong time, is definitely a blow. Is there a local Home Depot or Lowe's that you can call to have one delivered to you instead?

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, and sending prayers and good wishes your way.

Shirl, I have to admit that one reason I liked this park in Benson is that the Benson bus had a stop here. I thought that would be awesome if I couldn't drive anymore, eventually. I don't believe it stops here anymore. It's hard to even think about that time coming but I was thinking I'd be prepared. I'm not sure if the stores here have delivery services to here. I know my place in Texas doesn't have his service but both HEB and Walmart will deliver. I only used it once this past winter when my car was at Ford. I'm sorry you're facing that now, but glad you have family and friends near. Hugs to you.

It's cloudy here today. They are still calling for hitting 100 but it doesn't feel bad out with the clouds overhead. I've got a load of clothes drying on my lines outside and will make another pressure cooker meal to divvy up for my freezer today. I ate one of them I made after getting here a couple weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. I loved it. Since I don't follow any recipes and just toss whatever in, some are better than others lol At least they've always been edible.

Karen, I agree that Safeway is pricey, but because I almost always go on the app and buy what's on sale, I do better than going elsewhere. I let them know they messed up something they substituted on my last pickup and I couldn't complain too much because it was free but I wasn't informed of the substitution and didn't discover it until I got home. It was something I needed for what I intended to make for a pot luck. I was pleasantly surprised that they sent me a coupon for $10 off my next pickup order. So I'll be making one shortly to pick up tomorrow. I love their $1 off on specific departments. So right now I have over $20 off what I've put in the cart.

Ginger and I talked about doing something today. Changed to tomorrow. The place we were going to go is closed Mondays so she just texted and it'll be Tuesday. Every place we talk about would be too hot, but this is a great museum not far away, therefore inside. And I haven't been there in several years.

Good morning gals.

I would much rather deal with 115* degrees and low humidity than the horribly high humidity of the eastern half of the country! We had very high humidity in MN but just off and on, usually just before a storm came thru. Our humidity level here today is 16%. There is something to be said for "it is a dry heat".

Yesterday was very up and down emotionally. Am better today. I am learning how to deal with the down times better and not allowing myself to go completely down the emotional rabbit hole, and then am able to climb out pretty quickly now. It must have taken a toll on my energy level tho, because I slept almost 12 hours overnight!

Been watching the LPGA Women's US Open golf tournament up in Pebble Beach. First time they have held it there. Most of the players are Asian and most are very young. But it is fun to watch them. They don't televise the women's golf very often. It does make me feel sad that I can't play anymore. I really miss it! I wish I would have tried to play our course here at least once. It is a very small, short course and I might have been able to handle it, especially once my shoulder healed up. But now the knee and sciatica issues...

I did go to Kohls yesterday to return am Amazon item. I had ordered a Flippity Fish for Sophie but then remembered I already had one for Romeow. I found that one and gave it to her but she wasn't too impressed, so the new one just got sent back still in the box. Then I stopped at WM, the one where I used to work. I saw that my old manager/friend was working there yesterday so I had her cut my hair, mostly in the back where it was driving me crazy. She just charges me for a neck trim, so only $7. It was good to talk with her again.

Picked up a couple things and headed home. I did remember to bring my new folding cooler so that worked good!

Today, I will do laundry and start on my bedroom, while watching golf. The temps must have been fairly decent overnight because I turned off the living room AC last night and at 11am, it is still comfortable in there without it on. I need to call the AC guy who installed my mini-splits and have him come out and check the living room unit because it makes a lot of noise and drives me crazy. Both units are overdue for service anyways so it is a good time to get that done before it gets super hot. Needs to be done before I put the house up for sale anyways.

I was lazy this week, but now I have to get going on working on the house. Time's a wasting and August is looming.

Ava, good to hear from you! Getting settled in to a new place is hard work but fun to make it your own. But not so fun when you are dealing with an injury. Take it slow. Are you gonna sell the RV?

Well I had good intentions today. I went to Safeway and picked up my groceries. All sale items of course except for the green beans LOL Came home and diced up my small watermelon and then took the meat off the roasted chicken. Made lunch chicken and squash. Since I had to take my shower early I didnt get out in the yard or the shed. So I took a page out of Barbie's book and made an iced caramel coffee and turned on the tv to Netflix as I found a series I like, nothing heavy just decent to watch LOL

Alice, that injury sounds horrid, but glad you are healing and have had help. I moved about 6 weeks ago and still have odds and ends sitting around. Shirl, sorry the dehumidifier didn't arrive - frustrating when they take it back! I don't want to think about not being able to drive, but I know it will happen. I imagine it will be my son-in-law's job to cart me around. I agree about Safeway and I also use the app to look at weekly ads. Beth, I usually get an e-mail that includes the receipt and tells me what wasn't available. Plus person bringing order out tells me. I suppose they all do it differently. I am picky about substitutions and often tell them not to substitute - learned that the hard way.

We had some very impressive thunder earlier but no rain here so far. Of course, there were lightening strikes in the area so fingers crossed. After ripping it apart a time or two, I finally have the first quilt square for the wall hanging done! I've also been trying to sort out some of Steven's family genealogy. Time for my iced caramel coffee.

Anita, I had my order set to no substitutions, so they thought they were doing me a favor giving me a free substitution. That said, even with all my traveling, I'm used to knowing via email and text about anything not available or substituted and the person bringing the product out telling me. Not this time. Thus I was surprised when I got home and they gave me the $10 discount which is welcome.

I'm definitely getting nothing done today. The sun came back out. We're up to 96 and now that's predicted as our high today. My pressure cooker just beeped that it's down to no more cooking time. I'll set it outside and let it do a natural release then bring it back in and divvy it up into freezer bags. NCIS is on ION and making noise in the background.

I don't look forward to not being able to drive. I would probably have to move to town. I spent my whole live trying to get to the country and finally made it. I love it down here even with all the problems.

I cooked some ribs in the oven and made a potato salad for lunch. I was going to open a can of beans but after all the sampling while I was cooking I wasn't hungry when everything was done. I'll have leftovers for a few days unless I freeze some of the ribs. Since the oven was on I baked 6 cookies.

It rained a little this morning. Since we might have more rain tomorrow and Tuesday I decided I better mow. I waited until 6:30 to start so it would be a litter cooler. Mowed Sugar's yard with the push mower. It gets jammed up with the wet grass and then it wouldn't start. I was sure hoping I wasn't going to have to bring it to town again. I let set for a while and it started. I should have had a bag of ant poison when I was mowing. There are ant hills all over but I'm out of poison. Hope I don't forget that on the next trip to town. I had been fertilizing the roses on the first of the month for a while but will have to not do that for a while. The bushes are growing out of the rose bed.

Safeway is another grocery store we don't have. I wish we had HEB and Trader Joe's but don't really need more stores. I thought I would go to Whole Foods more but they are too expensive. If I plan to go grocery shopping in Lafayette I have to be prepared with blue ice in the ice chest. Most of the time I'm not that organized. I have only been to the Aldi's that opened once.

Anita, I only tried to make a quilt block once and could never get the seams right. My mother liked to quilt so there was a frame hanging from the ceiling in mine and my sister's bedroom. I decided I had better things to do than quilt.

My cats don't really play with toys anymore. The only thing they really like are the two sleeved like things I made with catnip in them. They will drag them around some. Stinky likes to sleep on one. I should put new catnip in them. When the catnip is new they will lick the things until they are wet. The things could probably use a good washing.

Martha will you put your squash cassaroll on the recipe forum? I think I misspelled casaroll and in trying to see what the spelling was put it into the "dictionary " instead of correcting it as both of them look wrong...
if you go to change out the cat nip could you wash the other part before refilling them??? at least assume that you will be emptying them up of the old
Shirl so sorry that things are so overwhelming ... even if you give up your drivers license make sure you get a ID card.... hopefully you will get your dehumidifier soon... it's funny out here we sometimes use a humidifier I rarely check to see what it is but you know when it's high (above 25) lol
#2 dd and husband came over for supper and we did have sour dough pancakes they did taste good...

Karen, I am not the "iced caramel coffee and netflix" person. I am the "hot chocolate with Baileys, watching paranormal shows" person.

Went to Lowes to look at microwaves. My over-the-stove microwave is toast so I need to replace it before I list the house. Found one for almost half price on sale that will work. They didn't have the color I want so will have to order it online. Will have Dave install it for me when they get back from their vacation in a few weeks.

That is about it here. Off to bed since there is nothing worth watching tonight.

Oh, Shirl - our biggest concern about getting old is losing our eyesight (next to falling and breaking a hip). Is your sight good enough to walk on your own? Because here people have all different kinds of mobility scooters. They don't require a license, can run on the sidewalk, and go into stores, etc. I clocked the distance to nearest pharmacy and market and figure I'll look into that when the time comes (approx 1 1/2 mi). There are all sorts of types. One gal in my community has one that looks like a mini pickup! Has wood slat platform behind the seat and basket in front.

My next door neighbor has a cute one and I see her chugging by the house all the time. She goes to the market, takes her dog to the dog park, etc. She said Medicare paid for it. She has it all tricked out with baskets, pouches, etc.

Lyn has(had) one - do you still use it, Lyn?

Couldn't fulfill all needs, but still gets a bit of mobility and independence.

I don't think I ever heard the term "hot dish" growing up, and heard it only a few times as an adult. I actually never knew what a "hot dish" was until I joined this forum.

One of the (many) reasons I moved to town after living almost thirty years in the rural foothills is because my town has bus service. Which I have used several times to do errands when my car was in the shop. I might consider Lyft and Uber instead of the bus, but the bus fare is $2.00 (I think it might be $1.00 if I bothered to get the Senior Pass) and a round-trip to the grocery store (about 2 miles away) using Lyft or Uber is $20.00!!

Sheila, "hot dish" is an upper Midwest thing. I think mostly Minnesota and Wisconsin areas.
