Rainy Thursday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Thursday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jul 06, 2023 8:02 am

Morning everybody. 62°. Been having ran showers. Grass and flowers are loving it. Definitely cooler too. 72 for high today. Fine by me.

Dogs woke me up bit after 6, all bright eyed and bushy tailed, as Molly knows her pill/eye drop routine. They both know it’s snack time, since pill goes Into a piece of deli roast beef. Can’t give the beef to Molly without Piper having some too  Tben it was breakfast time. Eggs and bacon and of course I make extra egg for them. Now they are having their morning nap  just because they we’re all bright eyed and bushy tailed, got their early morning routine completed, doesn’t mean mom is bright eyed and bushy tailed

But I have a busy day ahead, so wake up is good. Molly has an eye check at vet this morning and I have a hearing aid check up this afternoon. So will be on the road a bit today. Take Molly out to vet, bring her back home and head into town a little while later. Want to run into Lowe’s since I need to go to town. That will take care of the day.

Velda, I know what you mean about the ‘“war zone” thing. I’ve mentioned about the National Guard trading facilities in Grayling in the past. I live about 7 miles from the Range 40 Air to Ground range. It’s the bombing/missile training for the Air National Guard. So in the summer it’s pretty normal to hesr them back there. They are not there constantly but come and go depending in training schedules. But every year in August, they have what is called Operation Northern Strike, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_ ... d%20Bureau. Can definitely hearing those jets roaring in, the missiles being released and the bombs going off ,especially when they drop 500 pounders which can shake the ground, and be felt in Gaylord, over 12 miles away, it definitely sounds like a “war zone”.

Image

I am grateful that we in this country are not the recipients of all that armament being leashed out. There are big bombers involved too and helicopters are always flying around. The planes are banned from this area here, so we do not have them going over us. Although it requires having to put up with some noise, we call it the Sounds of Freedom. This is an actual picture from out at the range.

Morning Sue and All. Sunny, hot, 77% humidity and dew point. Anxiously waiting for delivery of dehumidifier tomorrow and hoping it improves living conditions. Going to increase ac, make a crockpot meatloaf and a yellow squash casserole for dinner. Sue, I negotiated to tell you how much I appreciated your patriotic display at your sub entrance. Tre is a huge display of flags on the highway that goes up for Memorial Day and stays through July 4. Be safe

Good morning to all. I want to share one of Las Vegas new spectacles. It is a a HUGE black shpere - going to be used for concerts. It is covered with led lights that can put on an amazing show. It lit up for the first time on the 4th here is one of many links to its show well worth watching, also below the video are some still pictures.
https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/las-vegas-sphere-images-video-lit-up the eyeball is amazing but kind of creepy.
Image
We stayed home the 4th, but lots of neighbors in the homes across the street were shooting off big fireworks. I went outside for a few minutes to watch them, still over 100 degrees out so didn't stay out there long. Come to find out on of the houses over there - across the main street not in our community started on fire. Wouldn't be surprised if it was the one I was watching.
Went to heart doctor yesterday to get results of three tests each from a couple of weeks ago. Great news - we are both fine, no problems that need fixing. Last year Bill had a problem with blood getting to lower right section of heart. At the time doc said he might need a stent or the body might find another way to provide the blood. Well body came through. Heart is happier now that last fall. Doc said see you next year in April. Was sure glad to hear that. Bill's sight continues to slowly improve. He can now read his ebook - but eye gets tired.
Next week are are going to have over 10 days of 110+ temperatures. Not looking forward to that. Just wish it would cool down at night below high 80's.
Sue love you little people. Such talent.

Good morning, was 62 out this morning at 5am but will warm up to 88, at least we are going down in numbers instead of up, for now anyway. Will be doing my techy thing today getting my cameras programmed. Waiting for some brackets that I hope will work but not sure, but if they dont I have plan B and can send those back. They wont be here until late afternoon but I can get the cameras all programmed.

Barbie hope the fellow is interested in your home or knows someone else who is. Anita I have a couple of iffy plants too. A Peony and a Gardenia arent looking especially fine, BUT the tomatoes are doing well so I prefer if something is going to go south it is the plants. Martha I dont have any cookbooks anymore after the fire. I find everything I need online and then if I like something I save it to copymethat.com I categorize them the way I want. Also tells me if I already downloaded and saved it. Best part is it is free, you can buy a premium level but why???? this has everything I need for easy access. If I see a recipe online I can just hit the icon at the top and it will scroll right down to the recipe instead of having to watch all the prelude to it.
Great news Carol to hear you and Bill are okay for another year....no tune up needed.

Going to have chicken again for dinner tonight, kind of just a repeat of yesterday. Making some Chicken tortellini soup to try and use up some of the tortellini bags I have acquired in my freezer. I think I dont have any so I buy more now I have alot. Going to clean the bathrooms and wash the floors before I start tinkering in the tech world of cameras. Henry is vacuuming my kitchen and dining room so then I can wash the floors. Load of laundry in and that should about sum up my day.

Glad to hear your good news Carol and Bill! We have another hot spell coming in a few days too, but am really enjoying 90 and below days and high 50's at night, while it lasts!
Seems, so far it's the already illegal aerial fireworks are near 100% of the fires over past few days, as well as all but one injury. So saying ban all fireworks just isn't the solution- the ones that cause fires are already illegal here! I know our law enforcement do their best starting weeks and months ahead of 4th of July tryi to find and confiscate and destroy as many of the illegal stuff as they can find, but people still manage to bring them in and cause trouble. They use their drones, helicopter, small planes, plus canceling vacations for all hands on deck, to try to keep up, also encouraging people to report, yet with such a large city to cover, they can't stop the idiots! Not sure what the solution is, but at least the people behind me didn't set theirs off in their backyard to explode over my property this year- they moved it over to middle of their street. I was keeping watch after their previous stunts, but apparently my 911 call last year, convinced them I was serious when I yelled at them to knock it off then called.
The BP battle continues. I hate what these drugs are doing to my brain but they are necessary for now!
On 4th, for first time, I slow roasted pork ribs in oven, finishing with a sugar free BBQ sauce and higher heat to set sauce. They were wonderful! I have missed ribs on Mel's smoker and instant pot followed by air fryer for sauce, was more clean up and took more attention. Until I get smoker fixed, oven will be my go to method.
Hope you all have a pleasant rest of week.

I slept in today until almost 1:30 pm, except that is after I woke up at 4 am when my power went out. I got up and tried to find out if anyone else had power, but there were only tenters across from me, and there are a lot of bushes between sites here. Power loss also meant AC went out. I waited a while and then tried to get back to sleep. It was not horribly hot, but just not as comfortable as I like it.

Woke up again at 7: 30 am and still no power, so after a wait I called the campground office. They said rest of campground was OK, so they sent a couple of camp hosts over. After doing some checking of the post and my rig, they determined it was my plug, not the power pedestal. However, finally we tried my 50 to 30 amp connector, by plugging my plug into the 30 amp end and then plugging it into the 50 amp outlet, and it worked. Apparently the prongs in my old plug are wobbling. Anyway, Yea for AC!! I am planning a trip to Camping World tomorrow to get a water filter cartridge they are holding for me, so will get a new plug.

By this time it was 10 am, so I watched TV in bed for a while and then fell asleep. I've been going back and forth with my down comforter and the lighter weight cotton quilt I use in the summer. Finally, after this morning's events, I switched to the lighter quilt since it seems to finally be summer!

Well so much for our cooler LOL 88 degree weather, It is now 92 out sheesh. Spent the afternoon charging and configuring my cameras, that is all done. Good thing they last supposedly 180 hours on battery depending on how much you use them. I only turn them on at night except for my front porch doorbell and now second video camera that I will leave on. Unless it starts picking up too much and I get too many alerts. I have it set for humans but we shall see. I did like that I didnt have ANY trouble with any of the techy part. Everything paired as it should so easy peasy. I dont have them mounted yet because it is way too hot out where I need to work.
Finished dinner and trying another movie LOL Sometimes I just cant keep watching, some are so stupid.

Karen, I think I am hopeless but I keep trying to understand tech stuff. I paired my cell to the nluetooth in my forester. You said you have paired the cameras. Do you only pair to Bluetooth? Do you pair to your cell? If there is a power failure do the camera shut down or stay connected by data on your phone? I’m not getting cameras just trying to learn a little at a.time.

I don't really have anything to say. Karen, my TV is on but I don't always know what's playing. Sometimes it catches my interest for awhile. Then there are the shows that I specifically sit down to watch. That means I tried the first episode and it caught my interest and then I watch all the others. Sometimes in one day lol

I think the high today was 103. I liked it better when the lows were in the upper 50's/lower 60's. It looks like I'm now rooting for 69 instead of low 70's. But that's not bad if I get up around sunrise but if I sleep in an extra hour, the sun's hotter than I want to walk. Unless there's a few clouds. Have I complained enough yet? Ignore me.

I'll be picking up Ginger to go into Tucson tomorrow. Someone I knew since grammar school is visiting her sister there. We're going to meet at Portillo's and another person I knew in HS who lives in Tucson is joining. I'll be a pig and I'm so glad Portillo's opened a place in Tucson.

I'm watching Ty closely as he's thrown up twice today. He's eating fine and no sign of problems otherwise but if it keeps up a vet visit will be happening soon.

Shirl, I screwed up pairing my phone to my current car. It's still not done. I got frustrated. I'd like to spend the time just to have my Google maps for driving on the bigger screen, but I've never gone back to it.

Oh your not hopeless you silly. I have a security app for the cameras and doorbell on my cell phone, They are used with my wifi (not Bluetooth) and if the power goes out so do they. They dont use data just my wifi. You have to have wifi to use them. I paired them with the Homebase I have plugged into my router it is for my cameras, then I sync that with my cameras and doorbell (by pushing the sync button on the top of the cameras) and now I have pictures of them all on my phone. I get an alert when there is motion and I can look at it live immediately. It also records the event. My doorbell works the same way except I get 2 alerts it seems One for the doorbell ringing, and I can talk to them AND one for the video movement part.
Now I am struggling trying to mount them. I bought some gutter mounts but of course living in a mobile home I dont have traditional gutters so will be returning them to Amazon. I ordered some different mounts because the ones that come with the cameras only tilt to a 45° angle and I need way more angle so I bought 3 of them and they rotate 360. They will be here Friday. The struggle is real LOL Then I have to enable my skill on my Echo Show so that I can just look at that instead of my phone. Way bigger screen. I can just say "Echo show me the front door? and bam I have a picture LOL LOL now you are way smarter.

Beth I am giggling here at you not pairing your phone with your car ha ha See, I am a die hard. I hate when I cannot figure something out. That is why this new car was so frustrating to me when my navigation would not talk to me. BUT I got it figured out finally after umpteen Youtube videos LOL Someone had a very simple solution for my navigation that nobody else mentioned in all those videos....who knew it was a simple fix in the end. I love technology tho, my whole house operates on Alexa or the Echo Show. Turns my lights on and off as I go to bed or get up, keeps my shopping list so I dont leave it on the table anymore LOL Tells me the weather, or how far to someplace, sends Henry back home if I want him to quit vacuuming for some reason. She can really do incredible things if I enable a particular skill. Now I dont like everything she can do, but pretty much rely on her alot. She is also connected to my Fitbit so I can be outside and think of something I need at the store and just tell her to add it to my shopping list. I get notifications on my watch too for the cameras and doorbell, no pictures of course just tells me movement at my front door etc. Also texts, phone calls etc I can look at my watch and see who is calling me and whether I need to run in the house or not LOL LOL OK so that is a synopsis of my life LOL LOL pitiful isnt it???

Fear not. It took me over three months to figure out how to use my vehicle radio when I got my motorhome 11 years ago!! And sometimes I still have problems with it.

Carol that sphere is something else. Amazing what you can do with 2 billion dollars.

About all I managed to do today was get my grandson's birthday card mailed and put the rubber runners back on the carport. It must have been some wind to blow them off.

It looked like it might rain most of the day but never did. At least the overcast kept it from getting too hot.

Shirl, if I managed to set up two cameras they can't be very difficult. I have two blink cameras, one on the front porch and one facing across the back yard. The pictures come up on my phone. The phone will ding every time a camera takes a picture and I can check it or not. It works off my internet. I have to pay Amazon $30 a year for each camera or they won't record. That's something I didn't notice when I ordered them or I would probably have ordered something else. I use to have two D-Link cameras I used in the house but they are out of date and won't work anymore. If I traveled more I would probably get a camera for in the house so I could see what the cats are up to.

Karen, I don't know if I would like having Alexa listening to me all day. Would she takes orders from the cats? lol

Judy, I have had my motorhome 5 years and still don't know how to work the radio. It's part of the camera and the few times I have tried to use the radio it turns the camera off and I have a hard time getting it back on. I have the book for the radio but don't care enough to even look at it. I seldom listen to the radio in the car either.

I will sure be glad when the writers strike is over. I'm tired of the reruns on the late night shows.

Beth, hope Ty isn't sick.

Martha I have 2 Blink cameras but I dont have to pay anything. I got them when they were free to record and I am grandfathered in so I am keeping them too. I have one in back and one in front deck. That is another reason I went with the Eufy camerasthis time, it is the only camera that has no subscription. It has a 16 gb memory inside the home base. I delete most recordings anyway so no problem here.
Shirl, nope never feel lonely ha ha ha I can just ask her to tell me a joke. Martha she only talks to me IF I wake her up. "Alexa play my playlist."
