Sun is rising, temp is 60° here at the 45th. Supposed to be near 90 today, but cold front heading in tomorrow. Not going to be doing much today with those temps. Plan to remove the fencing and tarp barricade on my deck this morning as it’s had it’s 72 hours of curing time. Molly will be happy, as she doesn’t like not being able to get off the deck on that side. Porch is off limits till Thursday. Then will water flowers here and at sub entrance. Added two Black-eyed Susan’s to my flagpole flower bed yesterday. Will take a ride to town later and get some lumber for the planter box project, so I will have it here. So off to the shower and get those two projects done before it starts getting too hot.

Good morning to all - HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY to everyone. Have a fun and safe day. We will be staying inside - going to be 112 -114 again today. Will watch concert on TV tonight and maybe go outside to see if we can see some of the Strip fireworks.Going to have strong winds today so might not be any official fireworks.

The macaroni salad is resting in the refrigerator to take to the clubhouse for the July 4 celebration. Steve cut thin strips of London Broil that marinated overnight and it's on the dehydrator. It'll turn into beef jerky later this afternoon. The resort we live in is in the country and we've never been able to see any fireworks from here. Since we choose not to drive at night, we'll find something interesting to watch on TV.

Happy 4th of July, everyone! I don't need to go anywhere to see fireworks where I live - I just need to walk out my front door and look down the street!! I sure don't need to travel somewhere or buy expensive fireworks when I can just stand outside on my front porch and watch what the neighbors are doing!

Sue, your little people are cute.

It's already 90 but we just had a rain shower. I think I heard it raining during the night but maybe I dreamed it. Need to get dressed and go feed the cats and check the rain gauge.

No plans other than staying home. A small town to the East of Abbeville has a big 4th celebration. They use to have two fire departments have a water fight. I haven't heard them advertising that this year. Sounds like a big waste of water.

I live so far out that I seldom see fireworks. Maybe they will have some on TV. It would be nice to be at the lake if it wasn't a 4 hour drive and so hot. It use to kill me to buy fireworks. No telling how much they are now. I would probably have a heart attack if I had to buy any.

Irmi, I use to make beef jerky all the time for Harold and the boys. The dehydrator is one of the things that survived the flood. My son wanted a bag of jerky from Sam's and the jerky type treats for his dog. I told him not to get them mixed up. lol

Good morning. It will be warm today again 99/62 The news said we could be over 100 tho today Then 97 tomorrow then back into the 80's....YES I went out and watered, harvested some zucchini and yellow crookneck squash. Got a small bucket of green beans and saw that I have quite a few tomatoes coming. Excited about that.

I am so over the fireworks. When I lived in Portland area we would take our boat down to Portland boardwalk area, drop anchor and watch while they shot fireworks off a barge in the middle of the Willamette river, the kids loved it. I also grew up in southern California across the street from Disneyland. Every night they shot off fireworks at 9pm. When they were over that was my sign to get my butt in the house. Now they are just a huge annoyance to me and my dog. I can think of better ways to celebrate.

I BBQ'd a small steak yesterday and still have half of it for dinner tonight with half a baked tater, and squash. Took some chicken out so I can make more kabobs on the BBQ they were really good. Staying home puttering around the house, linens and towels in the washer, so far life is good today.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! At least 70% of the campers here at Maumee Bay SP have left for home and jobs tomorrow, so the place is really nice and quiet. I'm having to do a lot of moving around because I had to adjust my reservation slightly to accommodate a dentist appointment next week where I get the post for my new tooth implanted. That will be on the 13th, so I have to drive back to Aurora on the 12th, then spend two nights there and drive to Michigan on the 14th. So, it will be soft foods for a month or so--yuck. Guess I better eat the steaks I bought on sale before then.

Sorry to hear the heat is so bad for a lot of you. How are the tomato plants managing? I guess some of you can move them into shade, right?

No fireworks tonight for me, but I am always reminded of the memorable 4th of July fireworks display I witnessed about 40 years ago in Port Austin, Michigan. The town had a small port with the fireworks set off on the beach area on the other side of the river that created the port. People watched from a pier and the town park opposite. It was a small town, so the fireworks were set off by one of the men's clubs, not professionals.

Anyway, they had a huge cardboard box (about 4' by 4' by 4' in size) of fireworks, and they would pull out a few at a time, stick them in the sand, and light them. Except, one of the first rockets went up and came down, landing in the box of fireworks! That lit every firework in the box, which went up in a huge column. BOOM!! I remember watching the horror of two men crawling away from the box, but somehow, no one at all was injured! The town firetruck and ambulance were on the wrong side, so it took them a while to get to the fire and put it out, while the crowd all watched. Anyway, people joked for years about the three-minute fireworks display that year!

Karen, your story about the fireworks off the barge reminded me of one of our trips to Disney World and Epcot. They would shoot fireworks off a barge in the lake at Epcot. Lightening hit the barge the night we were there and scared the crap out of us. We were just outside of a bathroom so went in there. At the lake they shoot off firework at the boat launch. The cove by the campground will be full of boats. I wouldn't want to have to get home at night on the lake. You can see Fireworks going off across the lake in Texas.

I checked the rain gauge and it just barely has any rain in it. There are scattered showers all over but none of them are very big.

I slept in for the first time this morning. Mistake as I had to cut our walk short because the sub was already cooking the roads. We actually made it further than I thought we would. It's 97 now and will get to 103, according to my weather app.

It was so good to have Ginger here yesterday. She'd been in Alaska for a month and got back to Benson just the previous night. We're making plans for the few weeks I'll be here as we can. If course, I need a ride to Tucson where there is now a Potillo's. Maybe a couple. I rarely eat out but that's on my yum yum yummy list. Ginger's never been so will probably think I'm nuts.

I was bad yesterday. After Ginger called I took Ty out to our yard and begged him to pee. He refused. And it was way too hot to walk him at that time. Needless to say, Ginger arrived and he got so excited and then started begging to go out and I told him he had to wait for the sun to move lower. He begged off and on for an hour and I knew better than to ignore him. Finally he hugged the door and lifted his leg then tried to hide from me. The pee all went on my new inside doormat. I picked it up and didn't realize it hasn't all soaked in so by not handling it more carefully, pee was running off onto the floor and doorsill and outside doormat. I rinsed the doormats off outside, wiped the floor and this morning washed the new inside may in my washer. I kept telling Ty it wasn't his fault. Yep, it was mine.

I'm missing the potluck here today. Ginger invited me to the one at her park, but I said I don't have anything to bring. So no pot luck for me today. I'm making myself some chicken tacos. And maybe an ear of corn or two. And Ty will not go 11 or 12 hours without a potty break. (It was the hour or two after his dinner and his excitement with Ginger here that really was the cause.)

Watching the moon come up was fun. We had some clouds in the eastern sky, so it was sneaking into view and out. Bright orange. I know I shared a pic, but nothing like it looked for us.

Not sure I'll ever be able to catch up on everything but will try to be on more regularly for a while.
Really miss hearing what you're all up to & how you're staying cool.

I am now retired - again! I think....

I'm not doing the contract work anymore.
And my DIL has taken the summer off so she has the baby. We think he'll go into daycare at Jordi's preschool in the fall. He's the sweetest, happiest baby ever, but it's still a lot of work to take care of him full-time.

I am continuing to learn French. I'm spending significant time using a couple of apps over the summer & want to double-down with classes in the fall. I plan on taking my oldest daughter to France with me in Jan to see youngest daughter's new place. I know I won't be able to converse but at least I can understand written stuff now AND I know how to use translation apps really, really well.

Lyn, I saw that you fell a while back & that your son is ill. Sounds like you're on the mend. I'll keep both you & your son in my prayers.
And Karen, someone tried to break in to a neighbor's place? That would be worrisome.
Sue, the display is darling especially with all the flowers in full bloom.
Barbie, 116 is HOT! Not sure how you handle going out at all.

Speaking of fireworks, it usually sounds like a war-zone around here on the evening of the 4th. I usually go to my son's place but I think I'll just stay home tonight.

Sue, another cute display! Martha, I would not have been thrilled about the lightening at Disney World! Beth, nice to have Ginger back to hang out with. Shame on you for not letting Ty out! Catherine, nice to see your post! I'm not expecting fireworks here, but we'll see. They are illegal in town.

I turned the 7 a.m. alarm off and slept til 8. I was just about finished with coffee when BFF called at 9:15 so no chores done in the cool of the morning. I have been prepping food now that the cupboards aren't so bare. My outside plants are now houseplants. Even though they were getting later afternoon sun, it was just too hot. Lesson learned.

Saw flashing red lights through the blinds last night. Cashmere is the only town left in Chelan county with its own fire department. 4 or 5 pickup trucks - no fire truck or aid car. From their website, I'm guessing someone might have had a kitchen issue because said possible fire. My first concern was lady in that section with MS and husband at work.

Both of these are at 8 PM eastern time, so check your local TV listing to see what time they will be in your area.PBS also is has a program in before theCapital 4th called From Sea to Shining Sea.

after breakfast I cooked some potatoes and eggs and later made potato salad and deviled eggs... way to much for the two of us especially where mom seems to not be eating potatoes lately not even baked but she did eat her hot dog and 2 deviled eggs halves... so that is better than actually normal..
need to let niece know that there is potato salad but for some reason I'm thinking her husband doesn't eat potato salad but not positive about that...
I was going to mention it the other day but saw where someone took a sprinter van and spent over 200 thousand refurbishing it for travel then decided that they didn't like the life wow and what could they have possibly have put in it to use up that amount of money??? gold perhaps??? had to sell it for a loss can't imagine why
down to maybe another row possibly two rows on that baby afghan and it will be finished yea!!!
started the scarf for the boy want to take two colors not sure if it's going to work out as I keep snagging a thread of yarn then it doesn't pull through right... so will see if it actually happens or I go back to just one color...
been a laid back day... not done a lot other that the salad and eggs...
mom mutters a lot guess it's sorta of her "list" of things she should do or need to do heard her say she ought to go see ... (my youngest brother) guess I ought to call and see if he is back to work yet or still out for medical (he had a shoulder replacement) didn't Sharon Meekin's have that a few years back?
I want to take her up to the park do a drive through there is usually too many people to find parking problem with that is finding a place to go to the restroom fairly easily guess we will see and will give brother a call and see where he is if working will go to the ranch where he works at I do know that he comes to town to see his boys and never stops in which irritates me it can't hurt him to add a half hour to his visit and stop and see mom but then I shouldn't assume something that I perhaps don't know much about
