Getting really late so I might fall asleep while writing this!
Ava, happy you found a house to move into! Where is it at?
Beth, headaches can be caused by dehydration. With the dry air here, I am always battling dehydration.
I finally finished the cat door. Not the prettiest thing, but should be more efficient than the other one. Sophie walks right thru the door like no big deal. But Romeow sits back looking at it, then kind of rocks back and forth, before charging thru it full speed! It is hilarious to watch! What a goofball! They didn't stay out on the porch very long today tho, with the heat. Tomorrow and Monday are supposed to get to 118*!
Summer has finally arrived. Weill, at least it is July so "only" 3 months or so of this before it starts cooling off in October. 2 less months than we usually have with 100*+ heat.
It got to 112* today. My AC in the living room was having trouble keeping that area cool. I had it set to 79* but it didn't get down past 91* until the sun set. I have the blinds closed and the outdoor solar screens but still the heat comes in. I taped the edges of one of the windows in the bedroom today that does't quite close all the way, with just clear packing tape since I still haven't found the insulating tape I bought for it. It does stay a lot cooler in the bedroom than the living room but I keep the door shut most of the time to keep the cool air in there. The other unit has to cool down the whole rest of the house so that is harder for it to keep up. Tomorrow I might put up the 3M plastic insulation kit in the bedroom windows. The kitties might object since they like to sit on the window sills. Hope they don't claw at it!
Speaking of claws, I got Romeow's claws clipped with a lot of objections from him. I tried to get Sophie in the harness/hammock thing but she is too small and climbed right out of it. I made an appointment with my vet to get her claws clipped but that isn't for another 3 weeks!
I really need to get them clipped before then so I will call around and see if anyone else does them and if I can get her in sooner. I will try to do one or two at a time but I think it will be a catfight that I won't win.
I opened my freezer today to get something out, and the ice cube tray fell out and landed on the side of my foot! Boy did that hurt!!!
I put ice on it right away for about a half hour which helped. It is pretty bruised now but doesn't hurt unless I touch it. Luckily, didn't break the skin tho. It did break a piece off the plastic ice cube tray but it is still usable.
There have been occasional fireworks going off all day today, but neither cat has paid any attention to them. I know the people in the community just behind the park models across the street will be shooting some big ones off for the 4th and they get pretty loud, so will see how that goes.
OK, now need to get to sleep! Cats are taking turns sleeping next to me tonight.
