End Of June

Good Morning on this last day of June. Bit foggy here this morning, some places it’s really dense. Current temp is 66°. Looking at 80’s today. Maybe some rain showers this afternoon.

Nothing much on my agenda today . Putting the finishing touches on the Dress Up Darlings Outfits, then will put on varnish. Plan is to put them on this afternoon and get the sub entrance decorated, after I run couple errands this morning. Need to water the flowers out there too.
Hopefully if we can get some of the men in this neighborhood to volunteer, plan is to take down the entire roof and posts holding up the sub’s name sign and replace with new posts and put the sign back up without the big roof over the flowerbed. Posts are rotting out and whole thing is getting wobbly. Shake shingles on the roof are in bad shape as well. Been up there a long time. Plus will allow rain to get to the flowers.

So off to the shower and head out on my errands before town gets too busy. Wasn’t going in todsy, but things changed Have a nice dsy everyone.

Morning All, 76° AQ has gone from very unhealthy to unhealthy. Forcast is t-storms all weekend. Will just hang out at home and talk to the plants. Found a copycat recipe for Olive Gardens chicken gnocchi soup I might try. Good coffee this morning. Be safe

Good morning Sue, Shirl and everyone that checks in!

Sue, I'm sure you and the others will get the entrance area redone and looking nice. Shirl, it's a shame you and so many others are suffering with the smoky air issues. We are very fortunate that it hasn't found us in central FL.

We topped off at 96 degrees yesterday and that will probably be the same today. We sit out in our pergola several hours everyday and around noontime, the entire pergola is shaded. Between the paddle fan and two free standing fans, we're very comfortable out there.

Good morning. Hot and stuffy in my house this morning. Opened the doors and windows to get some cool air in. It is 73 in my house and 55 outside right now. Our high today will be in the 90's and 100 on Thursday and Friday....YUCK I like the 70's ha ha Oh well it is what it is. I have good AC so I will not complain too much as I can get outside to water early in the morning. I just need to remember to close the doors and windows before it gets too warm.

Have some bookkeeping tasks, some shredding, and tidying up to do this morning after I water. Might even wash my car today as it is in the carport in the shade. Rockfish and broccoli for dinner. The good news is I lost 1 1/2lbs this week just by eating healthy, and no sweet or salty snacks. For me it is mind over matter LOL I do have a small bag of pretzels I can munch on, just a few in the afternoon when I am bored more than hungry.

We are still under a heat advisory, is currently 93 here but feels like 105 the local weather says. Ugh it's supposed to get up to 100, maybe the dew point will come down it is currently 75 I'm supposed to meet friends for drinks at 3:00 it only would take me 3 minutes to drive but I'm not sure I want to go outside at all. But I'm going to get really bored and miss all the gossip of the week if I don't.

Emma is at a show at Purina Farms near ST Louis today. It is all inside but still I hope they don't nave to be out long. I got this picture at 5:30AM. I don't think they are ready to get up. They are also traveling with a Cane Corso! I hope he is in his crate. I added a photo of what that breed looks like as they are rather rare She has a much busier social life than we do.

Just heard awhie ago that she won first place for combined high scoring dog in UD and Open classes! This is a huge show so everyone is super excited.





And this is the birthday party she was at on I think Tuesday. The silver and the black poodle belongs to the trainer and the birthday dog is another 'student" No wonder she is always ready to go to 'school' in the mornings.

BJ, love the pictures. Emma has a busier social life that most of us. I think I would be afraid of the Cane Corso. A lady we knew through the horses had them. Scary looking dogs.

I just got back from town. The vet's office called and wanted me to bring Sugar in for a shot. They gave her a heart worm shot on Monday and noticed that it was out of date so wanted to repeat the shot. When It's this hot I worry about being on the road with her in case I would have car trouble. My car has never stopped on me but I like to worry. It was 99 when I went to town but it's over cast now and has cooled off to 97. We might get rain next Tuesday. I forgot the water running in the rose bed last night so they should be well watered. I'm glad I was using well water and not "city" water that I get a bill for.

Well, back to being bored. It's going to be a long weekend.

I don't know why but I have a mega headache today and nothing wants to help it. I might see if I can take a nap. That will ruin my sleep tonight but if it helps shake this dang headache, I'll take the overnight sleeplessness.

Martha, I too worry about going somewhere here when temps are over 100 degrees - when it gets much over 105, I just stay home (especially if I need to bring my Joe with me).

A few friends think this is amusing, and tell me I am being too cautious, and that I worry too much. But if my car broke down on the side of the road somewhere, (maybe from even something as common and usual as a flat tire), when it was 100 or 105 or 110 (and I needed to wait a half hour or an hour for assistance) - it could actually be life-threatening. And not amusing at all.

I think you are right to be concerned. Thinking things through, and recognizing possible vulnerabilities, tends to keep us safe.

I didn't go meet my friends this afternoon it is 101 and the heat index is 111! I too worry about car trouble and all the what if's that could happen. I don't perspire and heat really bothers me and makes it rather dangerous. And while my friends don't find it amusing they don't understand.

BJ, that's so sad. But I'm glad you don't let them convince you. I've always preferred hot weather to cold. Until the winter I got great stroke. My body shuts down pretty fast now when it's hot. I used to need at least long sleeves until temps got to the mid 70's and even higher sometimes. Now I head out to walk Ty in 65 degree weather in a sundress (if the sun's shining).

Thank goodness we are not as hot yet as you all. And our humidity is 28% so it is just plain hot out. I was outside on my back deck, which gets WAY hot due to the aluminum awning. It was plenty hot for me when I sat down out there. Stupid dog runs out to lay in the sun. I only allow that for about 5 minutes at a time. But my AC is running and I am quite comfortable. I have it set to 75 with my stand up fan also running to move the air. I am sure my electric bill will reflect the hot weather but hey I will not suffer LOL and definitely not in silence!!!!
Going to make a blended caramel mocha and kick back searching Youtube for a while. I always am bored when I am stuck in the house. It is one thing to choose to be inside but now that I am forced inside I dont like it.
Congratulations BJ sounds like a good win. Those dogs are all so cute. I dont know anything about the Cane Corso except they are big. I like a smaller dog for me, they suit my lifestyle. My Emma is a lazy a** dog and that so works for me. I always think Big Dog, Big Poop. I had a friend with a Mastiff and she carried a shovel, no thanks.
Beth I love the cooler weather (not really cold but cool) I can dress in layers. When it is hot out not alot of clothing options I can shed. Cool with the sun shining is my ideal weather.
I thought I would paint my bathroom this winter for something to do but I am thinking maybe sooner LOL I like having a project each day whether it is big or small but I like getting something done and right now I dont have too much to do inside.

I’d be leery of a Cane Corso too. When my daughter and I were in Pompeii, the city destroyed by Mt.Vesuvius in 79 AD, it was fascinating to see a very famous mosaic at the entrance of the House of the Tragic Poet. Below the dog were the words “Cave Canem” (“Beware of the Dog” in Latin). They say the dog in the mosaic is a Cane Corso which were frequently used for protection. Scary!

Karen, you and I are much alike. I too, do not like hot weather either, 70’s is my comfort zone. I get overheated really easy and sweat like crazy in hot weather, so like you, I limit my activities. I hate having to stay in the house when it’s too hot to be out. Like you say, it’s one thing when you want to be in, but another when you have too. Especially here, where our summers are short as it is. It was bad enough on Monday when we had the heavy smoke.

I like to have some kind of project to do each day. Makes the day go by faster. This time of year it is outdoor stuff. I save my indoor stuff for winter. I had posted this morning that I didn’t have much on my agenda. Well, the dsy got pretty busy. It was very humid this morning into early afternoon and then it all cleared out and has been beautiful. 83° and just a beautiful late summer afternoon. I made a wasted trip to town because I came up with nothing that I went for, but I did go out to the vet to get some more eyedrops for Molly. Then after I got home, I went out and watered the flowers at the sub entrance, mowed and brought my dress up darlings back to the house. By then it was lunchtime, so I had lunch and then I spent some time swapping out the costumes on the figures and got everything ready to take out to the front. it’s all decorated out there now. By then it was time to get some dinner going for myself and the pups. So much for todsy. Off to do the dishes and probably a dog walk. .

perhaps they the dog I promptly forgot the name of are like other dogs with a bad rep a lot of times it has to do with how they are trained or treated... when we lived in SLC and our kids were young... my youngest brought home a puppy that "followed her home" just a little thing she begged and begged to keep it...after not finding the owner we let her keep Pepper and as Pepper grew we realized that she was a lotta dog turned out part German Shepard and part pit bull one night my son was out walking both dogs and a group of kids came up and asked if she was a pit was told yes they took off and dd would walk her and we didn't worry quite as much (not the best of neighborhoods) the thing is Pepper would lick you to death before she would bite ... no idea what she would do though if she sensed a problem...
I bought some green beans that were in a bag supposedly trimmed opened them up and not all were trimmed I wasn't happy with the feel of them but when washed felt better however I don't think I will buy them again...plus way to much for us to use even though I used half of them tonight ... I always like it when there is just enough had a serving of meat left over and not enough of the rice or beans to warrant keeping... everyone said that they liked it although if I feed this set of missionaries again I won't make green beans the one elder ate them but very little the other had a couple of helpings the one didn't like the apricots that were in the meat... they almost got Hawaiian haystacks that was sounding good as well
I really didn't do much other than normal routine things and fix supper
not sure what our weather was other than the sun was shining and the sky was blue...
we still haven't left the door open and the window in the kitchen is still closed
