Good morning. Just back from the eye doc and my eye injections. It wasnt an eye dilation appointment so I can still see LOL Wont be able to do much for a while so just going to sit and veg out for a while.
Bought a new meatloaf pan with a removable insert with holes for the fat to drain. Sounded perfect, and it was until I dropped it coming out of the oven. I thought I could just do it with one hand but no, the insert flipped up and the meatloaf went a flying. Thank goodness I had just washed the floor when I got done putting it together. So salvaged most of it....dang Then had to wash the floor again....ah such a learning curve ha ha
Shirl have fun with your friend. I am having resurrected meatloaf and fresh green beans for dinner and a small salad for lunch. Munching on some watermelon right now.

Good afternoon. It’s already in the 80’s and muggy. Been watching the clouds but so far no rain but it’s in the forecast for later. Had a nice surprise from Tina late yesterday. She was staying at the campground in Bellefonte so I dropped everything and went and visited with her for a couple of hours. We walked her dogs and then just visited. Always fun to meet up with one of you! I did let her know her Roadtrek will fit through my gate so if she wants a driveway it’s always available! Just got home with Mr Buddy. I hang around State College rather then drive home since the tech said he’d probably be ready in a couple of hours. Glad now I did since I was really close by. He’s sleeping off the anesthesia now but they said by morning he’ll be more himself. His weight was about 75 and since he’s 9 1/2 months the vet said he’ll probably be closer to 100. That scares me! So much fora smaller dog! But they did say he was better behaved than he was at 6 months! So maybe something is sticking in his stubborn head! Lots more work to do but hopefully we’ll get there. So that’s been my day today. Not sure if I’ll be able to get out and mow today with the rain moving in. Right now it’s to hot and muggy to get outside. Oh, young son was on duty yesterday afternoon and stopped by and got the air units in the windows for me and I ran the one in my bedroom last night and it was much better sleeping! So I can check that project off my list! I think I need to take Buddy outside since he’s moving around. Have a good day.

I woke up with a little vertigo this morning. Hoping it will get better thru the day.
Last night I heard some sort of critter being killed right outside my window. It was very upsetting for me to listen to! Had a hard time getting back to sleep.

Have been reading a bit this morning but having a hard time focusing. Maybe I need a nap!

I need to trim cat claws today. I will do Romeow's first since I have that system down pretty good and he is tolerant. Am not sure how I will do Sophie's tho. I had them clip her claws when she was spayed, knowing it would be a challenge if I tried right when I got her, so I figured it would buy me some time to build up her trust. Well, she is much more trusting now but I don't think enough to let me clip her claws. Will try to at least get a couple front ones done if I can today. I think I may need to bribe her with some wet food.

Otherwise I think it will be another "take it easy" day. I might make some tuna salad tho. That is pretty easy to make and will last me a couple days for lunch, dinner and snacks.

Sharon, I hope Buddy calms down some after his surgery now.

Karen, there is no 5 second rule in my house. Anything that hits my floor is off limits because of the cats. With their dirty paws running back and forth all day, even washing the floor doesn't keep it clean for very long! Hope your meatloaf turned out good even tho it got a little messed up! I love meatloaf when it is kind of crispy on the outside, covered in ketchup or BBQ sauce! Haven't had that in a long time!

Morning all. We have a heat alert now. I just checked and we've already hit 100 (did about 11 am) and will stay above it for 5 or 6 hours. Ty and I got over 1 1/2 miles in this morning then I got more as I walked down to the rec hall to get some info and then talked to my neighbors outside. I know people laugh but as long as I'm still the dry heat really does make a difference. But walking, that's another story when the sun is beating down. Ty's last walk today it'll probably still be in the 90's but after the sun is heading down and not cooking the paths, so doable.

Sharon, great that you got to gtg with Tina and also great that your son got the AC's up for you yesterday. Speaking of which, time to turn the AC on here as the portable swamp cooler has done best it could do far today.

Today I went to town twice before noon. Sugar had her appointment at 9:30. I wanted to go to the grocery store but it's too hot to leave her in the car so brought her home and went back. The sky got really dark and I was hoping it would rain but didn't. It cooled off from 92 to 89. It is getting very windy so hope it blows in some rain.

Karen, sorry you had a meatloaf accident. I have one of the double pans. I think I have one slice of meatloaf in the freezer so will have to make one soon. I can take a slice of meatloaf and mashed potatoes out of the freezer, heat a vegetable and dinner's ready.

Sharon, glad you got your ac units installed. Where I live it is a waste of time to ever take them down. We have days where we might run heat in the morning and ac in the afternoon. My central unit is 17 years old and I worry every year that it might need to be replaced. Your buddy is a big boy. My dog weights 49 pounds. I thought she might have lost some weight but she gained 3 pounds.

Someone from New Iberia posted pictures of a 4' alligator that came in thru his doggie door. No doggie doors for me.

The inside cats that usually want to spend the day outside are in the house sleeping. If I had a fur coat on I would want to be in too.

Had pulmonary appointment this morning. It was nice and cool for my trip there and back. NP said my overnight oxygen test qualified me for O2 via my Cpap, so that was ordered. She ordered a new sleep/titration study as my last was in 2012. During titration, you sleep with their Cpap and monitoring equipment, and tech watches monitor and gradually turns settings up until you no longer have low oxygen/apnea. Then Dr reads test and resets your Cpap to match. After that I'll reschedule my stress test and 30 day Holter (EKG) heart monitor. One step at a time. Meanwhile, for now my BP is staying in 140's, big improvement over 180-220! Soon as pharmacy calls I pick up my double dose Clonidine patch for BP. Maybe soon I'll actually sleep through the night, if we can get my Cpap set right and my oxygen stays up! So tired of poor sleep, due to being awakened by oxygen ring buzzing to tell me I'm low!
That's my excitement for the day! I'm going to walk on treadmill for 30". Listen to a book, podcast, or YouTube video. Take my mind off the whole BP issue for a bit.

Now 84, but by late week, the heat is on! Supposed to top 100 for 4 days starting Thursday! Not looking forward to it, but it is almost July!

Edith and I no longer drive the two hours to visit and it is sad for both of us. Her brother was meeting a friend at a local restaurant on his wat to Edith’s. A neighbor dropped Edith at my apartment and brother would pick her up. Brother, Pete saw the lamp mess and fixed the lamp. Bless his little puddin heart. Edith and I spent two hours laughing like we’re 16 apagain. We laugh over our old age ailments shortcomings instead of boys. We have come a long way together. Thanks Beth for posting picture.

Shirl...finally the lamp saga is over for you. I was rather enjoying all the suggestions and thoughts. I had nothing for you...sorry. Glad you had a good visit with your long time friend.
Nothing much going on here today. Heating some meatloaf up for dinner so easy peasy. I have been starving all afternoon. ONLY because I am cutting back and my brain knows it and the stomach follows. I just busied myself so I would forget about it. But I was watching the clock LOL
Velda hope they get you all figured out soon. Martha I dont have any dog doors either. Not because of alligators LOL but dont want anything else venturing inside. Besides I like to know where my dog is at all times and what she is doing. Helicopter dog Mom for sure.

My video doorbell's battery died and now I have to reconfigure it....dang wont let that happen again. My phone is still having issues, very frustrating. We shall see if it works itself out of it's tantrum.

Woohoo, Shirl the lamp is fixed! Plus you had a fun visit! Velda, glad you are making progress with medical issues. Karen, I sympathize - I spilled pumpkin bread batter in the oven, on the oven door and the floor in the last place. Martha, I'd be afraid of anything coming through a doggy door! It's in the 80s here. They kept predicting rain yesterday, but it didn't happen. I took neighbor for short Sling ride this morning - new to me canyon road with twisties. Orchards and horses along the way. He needed to stop at the nearby store. I didn't think he'd be long so sat in the sun - think it zapped my energy. Had afternoon coffee so maybe I'll accomplish something now.

According to weather.gov, a high of 108 is predicted here for Saturday.

NOT looking forward to it. The weather has been so very mild so far this summer I'm afraid I have gotten spoiled.

Here's hoping my 20-year-old AC unit doesn't crap out.

After reading the highs for you gals up north of me, I checked my forecast. Yikes!! 113* on Friday, and 117* Saturday and Sunday!! But like you said, we are way overdue for the excessive heat for this time of year. My AC should be good to go since it is pretty new yet. Just not looking forward to the electric bill the following month! Has been holding steady at about $50 per month so far. Supposed to be windy tonight starting an hour ago but so far very still around here. No plans to go anywhere tho.

I suppose I should put up that window insulator plastic on the bedroom windows tomorrow.

I signed up for GrubHub but they are at capacity for drivers right now so I am on a waitlist. Called the temp service and they still don't have anything available yet. I may have to go out on the street corner with a cardboard sign pretty soon! Lol! It's not that bad yet, but cutting it too close for comfort.

Made the tuna salad but tried a cheap kind of pasta I got at WM to see how it compared to the one I usually buy, and I am not too thrilled with it. The pasta is sticky and has a strange texture. Part of that may be because I forgot to rinse it off with water after cooking it so the starch is probably what is making it sticky. But it tastes OK, just not what I am used to.

Sophie has been coming up on the bed a lot more and wanting some lovin's. She aggressively kneads the blanket with her paws, plants her face into the blanket, and drools!

Shirl, glad you got your lamp fixed. I would have given up awhile ago, so I admire your tenacity! Glad you got to visit with your friend for awhile too! It is nice to have friends that, even tho you haven't seen each other in awhile, you pick up right where you left off last time.

Maybe I should walk to the mailbox before the wind picks up...

I feel for you, Barbie. I hope you can sell your place this fall so that you can either get the RV of your dreams, or move someplace cooler.

The hottest it has ever been in the twelve years I have lived here in California's Central Valley was 118, round about 4th of July one year. And it is not desert here (like it is where you live, Barbie), it is just an agricultural area. The 118 was not the norm; however many days (or even several weeks) of 110 - 115 degree days are fairly common here in the summer.

I have ten tomato plants, and they are more loaded with green tomatoes than any other time I have ever had a veggie garden. They definitely won't be happy about the heat (I'll need to double up on watering). Probably they will stop blooming with the hot weather (tomatoes like temps below 90) and I'm hoping that the tomatoes will begin to ripen.

Keeping my fingers crossed. The Cherokee Purple tomatoes I grew last year made salsa to die for. Yum!

I cooked the pork chops in the slow cooker but they were still kind of dry after cooking for 4 hours in a gravy.

Barbie, I don't know how anyone handles the temperatures you have.
