Monday June 19

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday June 19

Morning All, 74°>82° partial sunny, poor air. Another stay at home day. Just opening the kitchen. The only thing going in here is the floor lamp repair. Parts are strung around the living area. I have to lay them out so I don’t forget how they fit together. I found video of how to replace the lamp socket but could not pull the cord out far enough to replace it. Found another video that told how to rewire an antique swing arm floor lamp. You have to pull cord through section but mine has a bowl that I can not open to reach the wire. #2 granddaughter and husband will stop by and see if they can help. I know that is more info than you wanted but it’s my life. Lol Karen, 15” skewers are too long for my air fryer basket so will cut chop sticks and soak before using. Be safe

Good morning. Unseasonably chilly this morning and we did have a bit of rain overnight but not alot. I have my sweatshirt on this morning LOL been awhile since I had to wear one. We will be back to the 80's on Wednesday and stay there for awhile I am sure. Been a nice respite tho. Have a few things to do this morning. Will be leaving tomorrow for 3 days which is just long enough to be gone from home LOL
Shirl, ha ha ha they are not 15" they are 5" ha ha The only place I would have room for 15" would be my outside grill and I did buy some for it but haven't used them yet. They are 17" long ha ha Hey you have a plan, I think cutting them will work just dandy.

Karen, my wonky eyes saw 15”. I’ve accumulated several chopsticks so will put them to good use. Need to make a grocery run for kabob ingredients. Something to look forward to.

It’s another nice day and going to get into mid 80’s today. Shirl, looked in my pockets a couple of times! But appreciate the suggestion! Glove is still missing! I was going to do some work in the yard yesterday but somehow got sidetracked and started giving Lola her much needed bath. Not sure what to use on the roof and wonder if I really want to be up there. Need to locate my long handled brush, I guess. Pretty sure I hung it up in the garage. But first I need to run and get dog food for Buddy. It’s about out and that wouldn’t be good! So guess that’ll be my day today. But at least I did sleep well last night! Judy, I know you’ve mention taking your RV Blue Beacon and I was wondering if they wash the roof. I thought I read that they don’t mess with that part on the rig. I have a couple of gift certificates for them and once I get my rig cleaned and the black streaks cleaned up I need to take a road trip to one and get her cleaned up come fall. I’m embarrassed at how dirty I let her get. So guess I’d better get a move on and get going and get my running done. I hate having to crate Buddy but it’s to hot to take him with me. Have a good Monday!

Ty and I got 2 miles in this morning. Then I brought him home and grabbed the screw that is too short and headed to the workshop here and came back with 5 various ones I thought would work, 2 matching (I need 2) and voila, those two worked and I took the others back to the workshop. I picked up sugar to make hummingbird food and did that this morning, hung the feeder and looked out just 5 minutes later to see a hummingbird there. And a cool lizard ran across my back porch. And some type of moth was feeding off one of my plants. I'm about to go back out because I think the sun is now up high enough to miss my rocker and I can sit and enjoy for a bit.

Oh, I don't know if I've mentioned one of the gigantic quail families here (there are a few smaller ones, too). This one has a minimum of 15 young ones. They go running so I've never gotten an accurate count and by the time I realize I'm crossing paths with them it's too late to try for a picture. But I'm still hopeful that day might come.

Good Morning, It has been a bit cooler here too the last few days. But the promised rain was just mostly a couple of showers and not the long soaking rain we need. I've been dealing with trying to change our credit card to one without a yearly fee. We have a Citi Card Advantage where you accumulate airline miles but we never travel and have a huge number of miles we will never use. Wish there was some way to gift them... our card is being renewed this year and since I will have to change the number everywhere online I though this would be a good time to change. All I found our was Citi cards have a terrible help line. If you can get to a person you can't understand or hear them. So after an hour of frustration I decided I would keep it. As I was typing this I got a call saying my cards had been blocked & to call this number. Of course I didn't instead I called the number on my card and was connected to a person I could hear and understand. After explaining she took off the hold so all is well . She offered to get someone to help me transfer to a different Citi card without a yearly fee but I told her my frustration level had been met for the day! I'm sure after looking online and DH and I discussing it we will get all kinds of offers so will just get a new card from a different company and the cancel the Citi card. ACK!!
Time for a glass of wine and lunch!! Shirl good luck with your lamp! Sharon I always had my RV looked over at the really great repair shop nearby every spring and they always checked the roof and resealed when necessary. Stay off ladders :) Beth just say your post. So great you have quail there you never see them in this area anymore.

Short post because I am in the throes of cleaning today. So far, vacuumed almost everything but cab area, and going to do that now. Then dusting and flushing out my black tank since I have a nice full-hookup spot. Reorganized my under the rear dinette storage area so it looks neater. Did same thing with one basement storage place yesterday, so I am on an energy roll!!!

Aunt is at least eating and drinking in her new group home. She still looks grey and weak, but she had been refusing food in the hospital. They have removed IV, foley, and oxygen, per hospice, but she is dressed and sitting up.

Onward while I still have energy.

Good morning!

61 degrees and breezy. I remember people talking about wind at the last place, but there were times I couldn't tell unless I looked at banners in front of the complex. Felt like I was in a little calm area. I did go out Saturday and clean the black plastic on the Sling driver's side. Otherwise, I've just been organizing odds and ends - today I need to do some cleaning. Exciting times.

Shirl, you are brave to try an electrical repair. You should see my repair I did on a floor lamp. The lamp is not an antique and the repair was not electrical. It had a cement looking weight in the base that broke and fell out. My son was going to repair it but it never got done. It has been hanging around here over 5 years and I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. The bolt that held the base on got lost and it took me a while to find one that fit. Didn't know that hardware for lamps is different but it is. I got two 5 pound round weights from Walmart, ran the pole thru them and bolted on the base. Not very pretty but it works.

Sharon, I have only been thru a Blue Beacon truck wash once and it was about 4 or 5 guys with long brushes and they only wash what they can reach. I don't remember how they put the soap on. It only cost about $30 so well worth it. My motorhome needs washing in the worst way but it's under the rvport so probably won't get washed until I decide to go somewhere. I passed the Blue Beacon going and coming from the last campout but there was a long line of 18 Wheelers. I'm not getting in line with a bunch of trucks. The truck needs to be washed, it's turning green again.

For lunch I made Ham and Cheese Crescents Rolls. It was a recipe in an email I got. Roll up a slice of ham and swiss cheese in a crescent roll, brush with butter, honey and mustard and bake. They are pretty good but don't know how well they will reheat.

Martha, I think your lamp repair is genius. I wouldn’t attemp my lamp repair with out YouTube, it is easy. If they had YouTube when we were young we would be a force to reckon with.

Below is the YouTube video. See if you think it’s doable

Shirl, on Amazon they sell wood skewers in 10", 6" and 4" lengths. Here is one I saw...https://www.amazon.com/Appetizer-Toothp ... 05&sr=8-15
They will be easier to push thru the meat than chop sticks.

I found the vitamin cat treats this morning. They were on the windowsill in the kitchen! :o :? Well, at least I found them. They are now next to the wet treat package held on the fridge with magnets! So if I forget again, you all can remind me where they are!

I was feeling mentally really good all weekend but am feeling a little less so today. Not very motivated. I did wash my hair (that is how I saw the treat bag on the window sill!). I need to run to WM for a few things. It feels hot outside already. Need to find that window seal tape too. I should just put up the window insulator kit with the plastic sheets you use a hairdryer to tighten it with. Not gonna be any more nights with the bedroom windows open. I can't use that plastic on the living room windows because the walls are a rough texture and the tape won't stick to that. There is no window border to stick it to either.

Romeow is starting to play a little rough with Sophie now. :( She can hold her own but it goes from playing, into a little bit of a fight. She then backs off after swatting at him. She brushed up against him this morning in an affectionate way and he put his ears back and raised his paw at her. I hope he gets over that soon!

Almost 2pm, I guess I better get going to WM. Need to stop for gas too.

Have a good day!

Barbie, oddly enough my chopsticks look exactly light Amazons. I will have to cut off the flat end. The chopsticks have just been laying in the drawer so will put to good use. Thanks for checking, always good to have options.

As far as roofs at Blue Beacon, some do and some don't.The ones that do wash roofs, just let a spray of water run onto the roof--no brushes or scrubbing. But I never look at my roof, so it being slightly dirty does not bother me! And for vehicles bigger than 30', the cost is more like $42, but it is still a bargain. They don't dry the vehicle, but they do a good job at getting bugs off.

Shirl, I would think the flat end would make it easier to hold them by.

The RV wash places probably won't do roofs because of liability issues.

Just got back from WM. I stopped at Taco Bell first so I could eat lunch. My thought was that I wouldn't be so hungry and wouldn't buy so many snacks. Well, they were closed inside and only the drive-thru was open, and I don't like to eat tacos in my car, so I just went ahead to WM. I ended up buying way too many snacks!  I looked for a styrofoam cooler to put my cold stuff in but they didn't have any. Will have to look for a soft-sided cooler that is big enough for what I usually buy. Now I just pack all the frozen and dairy stuff together in one bag to keep each other cool and that works pretty good.

We never did get the high winds they were predicting so that is good.

Barbie it would be easier to handle using the flat end but stick is too long for fryer and I need the pointy end to skewer food easy.
