Well, good morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Well, good morning

Shirl, I am going to try to out-do you in the "tales of woe" department. I was truly sorry to hear that you had to give up on your balcony garden.

Anyway, after four straight nights of decent - although not great - sleep, I thought (hoped) I might be getting a handle on my insomnia situation.

Well, I guess not so much. Went to bed at usual time (midnight) fell asleep easily. . . awake at three. Did a pit stop, back to bed with hopes, promising myself I would stay in bed and not get up an roam around as I often tend to do.

By 4:30, I had had enough of the staring at the ceiling thing, got up, fed the dog (Joe thinks it is breakfast time when I get up, no matter what the clock says   - if I do go back to bed, then get up again later, he expects "second breakfast") had some oatmeal. Coffee on the stove right now (I have an old-fashioned coffee pot that one puts on a burner on the stove - imagine that!).

I tell myself that I can "always take a nap later", which almost never happens. When it does happen (usually accidentally), I can pretty much guess that an "insomnia night" is in my immediate future.

Oh well. Such is life. At least I am still on top of the dirt. At least at the moment.

Have a good day, everyone.

Morning Anne and All, 72° and sunny. Anne, I hear you. You have to be a detective to get a good nights sleep. The lest little caffeine. alcohol, certain supplements or medications will ruin my sleep. I took Aleve for weeks with back spasms and started waking up at 3am on the dot. Who knew it was a side effect. I have been watching humidity levels, using an inhaler before leaving home so I don’t have breathing problems. Yesterday, checked humidity, used the inhaler and was on the balcony a half hour. Had shortness of breath, what the ??? It was the “poor air quality”. Now pollution is affecting me. I need a hasmat suit. I will have to see if there is an inhaler toxic air. No plans today will just stay home. Lots of beach traffic and poor air quality. Be safe

Good morning all, I had been sleeping pretty well until last night, I'm blaming it on the moon.
Shirl do you wear a mask when you go on your balcony? On the news they were telling people who lived in the areas where the air is bad from the smoke that all ages need wear a mask outside regardless of your health status.
I couldn't stand my hair any longer and gave myself a haircut this morning. I think the moon was in the right phase. We'll see when it gets dry.

Good morning. I actually got to mow my yard yesterday! Who would have thought that would be exciting!? First time in weeks that it actually needed it. Amazing what a bit of rain will do to perk it up. So today I plan on taking advantage of the nice day to get some weeding done and general cleanup done. Who knows how much will get accomplished! At least, on the subject of sleep, all the work I did yesterday I got a decent night of sleep. Maybe that’s the key for me, physical activity most of the day. Otherwise I don’t sleep well at all. Walks with Buddy don’t seem to help a whole lot. But at least we both get some much needed exercise! I took off one of my gardening gloves yesterday, probably to do something with Buddy and darned if I can find it. I’ve looked all over and it’s no where to be found. And I’m sure Buddy didn’t grab it to chew since there are no pieces of it anywhere in the yard. Only thing now is I need to look when I dump the bags at the dump to see if somehow it got tossed! A great mystery! Good to know that I’m not the only one that puts things away and then can’t find them! Sometimes I think I must be losing my mind!
Judy, good that your aunt is getting the care now that she needs. I’m sure the distance you are from her makes it difficult. I’m keeping her and you in my thoughts. Shirl, sorry nothing has been done with your upstairs neighbor and that it makes you not be able to enjoy your space. Love hearing about how you’re getting your yard looking nice, Karen. Sue, are you sure you don’t hire out? I could use some of your energy! Beth, nice that you’re back at your casita and have some downtime. Enjoy! Velda, hope you’re able to get some answers to your medical problems. It is a shame that we practically have to diagnose ourselves to get the right combination of doctors to get help. If they listen at least to what we tell them. Ok e found that my go is quick to say that I need to see a specialist for what I’m pretty sure the gp would have taken are of. Not to say that it’s sometimes necessary but I feel like when I do see her she’s quick to do that. Okay, off my soapbox! Need to get back outside since time is marching on! Have a great day!

Maybe I can put on my polka dot compression socks, my mask, sunglasses, foil hat and purple cane sit on the balcony for air and sunshine. Can watch the beach traffic stopped and lined up outside with their exhaust fumes filling the air. Geeezz

Good morning, cloudy here with a few sprinkles, not even enough to wet the ground, we shall see if we get more. Not feeling the motivation this morning. I have been outside working all week so think today will just be a hang out kind of day. I need to do some laundry for my trip down south Tuesday. Henry will do his job tomorrow and Tuesday so that will be done. I like to come home to a clean house. I need to cut up my cardboard so that will be out of the way, dont have too much so that is good. Will put my hearing aids in after my shower but I dont seem to be in much of a hurry to shower LOL

I usually sleep pretty well but if I go to bed and dont feel sleepy I take one of my mild sleeping pills and they work really well, in fact I love them LOL I used to take a Benadryl and those helped but the Zolpidem is the bomb. It is only 5mg but enough to do the trick. I dont take them every night but maybe 3 or 4 times a week.

Had some breakfast, and now need to get off the computer and get my day started. We have a high pollen alert here today so hopefully the rain (if we really get any) will help with that. I took my allergy pill this morning and will probably just be inside today so that should help. I dont have the breathing problems but I do have the sneezing and runny nose, very annoying. Shirl pictures please of your outstanding outfit LOL

Karen, I am not posting that picture on the internet and embarrass my family. Lol. I do own those items (not the foil hat) but have never worn them together. Haven’t needed the cane yet.

Hi Gals. Sunny and 83° It is a beautiful day. It’s hot out there in the sun but with the breeze blowing it’s really nice in the shade. I just came in from doing a few things out there. Went to mass this morning and along with everybody else said goodbye to one of our priests, who is being transferred to another parish. He will be taking over as the administrator. Hate to see him leave.

When I got home had a quick lunch and then I decided to take the ladder and go out to the entrance and replace the shake shingle. I got blown off the roof out there the other day. I think you have seen from some of the pictures that I have posted of the flower bed and stuff out at the entrance that there is a roof over top of that and it has shake shingles. They are in bad shape, but we can’t afford to do anything about it right now. Some of us are saying we wouldn’t mind seeing the whole thing calm down as it is getting wobbly. Then when I finish that I decided it was time to put some primer on the beam repair on my porch so that I can get a coat of paint up there. And I discovered that there is some rotting going on in another area of same beam, only the house end this time. So I sent a message to the photo that does remodeling ng/repair work and stuff, to see if he can come out and have a looksee and then when he gets time somewhere along the line, he can come and repair it. He teeth on small jobs, big jobs both, so he and his partner are really busy. If it isn’t one thing, it’s another.

And I have some terrific news to share. Those very talented young ladies played their State Softball Finals game yesterday, beat their opponents 8-3 and came home with the Division 2 State Championship trophy, making it the first in the school history in that sport. And thry broke the home run record they set on Thursday again. It now sits at 72. They were met at the south Gaylord Exit by I think, every available City, County and State Police vehicle here, the entire Gaylord Fire Dept. and EMS vehicles, then escorted along with the accompanying parents/fans cars all the way into town, where they were welcomed by groups of people including myself, along Main Street as they headed for the high school, where I’m sure a crowd was waiting. These girls have been playing together as a team for 10 years and they had a dream that someday they wanted to bring home a state championship when thry got to high school. They accomplish their mission. The community is very proud of them and actually it is probably something that this community really needed. The Gaylord has had a rough couple of years. We were just recovering from the pandemic, which decimated the tourist season here, when the tornado hit last year. Now, they have brought home community pride, and a feeling of accomplishment.

https://upnorthlive.com/sports/hometown ... vicksburg#

Oh Sharon, I mowed a bit yesterday, but I ly about half my front yard and one side of the entrance out front. More to just cut down the scraggly weeds growing. Although we did have rain, it asn’t that much and the grass is not greening up in the hot sun. And no, I don’t hire out  I just stay clear of sweets, breads etc. and watch my carbs. Not that I don’t indulge once I awhile. Also, I watch fruits and which vegetables I eat, because some of those are very high in carbs. I contribute a lot of that to having more energy. Plus, I tend to drive myself too. Somedays. I am tired and I don’t feel like doing anything, but I make myself do something anyway and usually once I get going then I’m OK. I do not watch TV during the day and about the only time I read is while I’m eating or after I go to bed.

I hear you gals on the sleeping issues. I go around with that too. But like Sharon said, on days when we are really busy and I am outside in the fresh air, I sleep good at night. I have found that the more I make myself do things, the more I can do. It’s a case of like going to the gym. It takes a while before you work your way up to more strenuous exercises or more miles on the treadmill. But if you have physical limitations, then you’ve got a different situation and I also think physical location makes a difference. Living in the climate where it is hot, as opposed to living in the climate or tends to be cooler, does affect what you can do and what you can’t. And when you do it. When I do find myself awake at 3 or 4 o’clock sometimes, and if I can’t go back to sleep, then sometimes I will go get my iPad and I will play a game or something and that always makes me sleepy and puts me back to sleep. And for me, I like to have some kind of a project to get into because that kind of drives me too.

Velda, hope you can find some answers with your blood pressure issues. Carol, things sounds like some little improvements, but sorry Bill is having so many problems despite that. I decided when my last computer was outdated, not to buy another one. Didn’t want to mess with another Windows program. Decided to just get a new IPad as I love their zillion apps, way easier to use than Windows and there isn’t anything I can’t do on it, that I could do with my old computer. I never was a person to store stuff in my computer, other than maybe pictures.

Enough jabbering for today. Tine to go paint on my woodcraft outfit and decide about supper. One of those days when nothing sounds good.

I've accomplished a few things this morning. Of course our walk. About 1 1/2 miles. Ran the hose over the front window of my motorhome. It needs cleaning but that was better than nothing and I wanted to put the window cover on (and did a minute later after it was dry). Put out my big patio mat I use here. Washed my bedding and hung it out to dry. Picked up orders from Walmart and Safeway and stopped with 3 of my gallon water containers and purchased water for them. Home and everything is put away and the bedding off the line, just not back on the bed yet. Put items in my new bathroom rack I put together yesterday. Have a stack of things to give away, threw another stack away. Broke down the cardboard for the things that came and also some that was in my storage area after emptying them (thus my stacks). Was starving and should have made something healthy, but so far just had a very good cookie.

While doing everything except the trip to town I've been watching some episodes on one of the series on Hallmark movies and mysteries channel. I thought I'd seen all of them from this series, but one was new to me so for that one I worked in front of the TV.

One of my purchases was a portable swamp cooler. I put it together last night and in a little while will follow the directions to add water and the ice packs and see if it'll do the job to keep the casita cool without as much AC use.I know it'll cost less to run, so I'm hopeful. This is the right climate for swamp coolers so I decided to give it a try. Fingers crossed.

It's not even noon yet and I'm exhausted. Lol

Sue, you beat me. Made me see what the temp here has made it to so far. 94. High probably 97. I'm fine in the shade, but I was got in the sun this morning at 70 lol

I had a good night for a change. Had to go to the bathroom at 6:00 and went back to sleep until 8:30. Thank you Sugar. lol We have rain in the forecast starting tomorrow and getting higher every day so decided I better get dressed and go mow. It was overcast and cloudy so it wasn't as hot as it could have been. It was windy and very dusty. So much for the shampoo I got the other day. I got done by noon. It's 98 now. When I came back through town I stopped and picked up a BBQ rib dinner. My server ask if I wanted bread, a roll or a biscuit. I took a biscuit and now I wish I had ask for two. They have good biscuits for breakfast and sometimes they have some leftovers for lunch. You can load a plate with as much as you want because you are paying by weight.

Shirl, I like the idea of your foil hat. I had an aunt that probably had one. lol I'm sorry you can't use your balcony like you want. Some people can be so inconsiderate.

Judy, don't let your son's dog hurt you. Does the campground have a dog park you could use?

BJ, my TV probably has closed caption. Do I know how to turn it on, no.

Anne, what is going on in your area with health care sounds like what is going on in Lafayette. Ochsners has taken over one of the hospitals and a lot of the clinics.

The metal grate on the trailer gate has come loose on one side. I was trying to think of a trailer place to get it fixed and remembered the welding shop Harold used all the time. They can probably fix it. I left the trailer hooked up to the truck and if they are open tomorrow I'll see if they can work on the trailer.

Martha go to your tv settings, then accessibility, should see closed captions, click on it to turn on. Not all shows offer closed captioning tho. Haven't done much today and I am okay with that. Every once in a while ya just need a down day. It is only 60 outside with a breeze and showers so I am absolutely not going out there to work. Just parked in my recliner, having a caramel mocha, and looking for something to watch on tv. I am halfway thru Everwood and every time I think about turning it off something catches my interest. It is a little more soap opera than I like but it is easy watching. Also trying to watch Sweet Magnolias but I really think I have seen it before but only remember a few things about it so will see what I decide on. I might try watching the show Joe Pickett that Shirl and Beth are watching or watched.

Packed up the Roadtrek for another run to the east with Jane to meet up with her stud dog again. We are trying for another litter. Cindy may be available to take Jane for the whelping and evaluation process this time. We are interested to see if the litter will be more the norm this time, usually 4-5 puppies. Cindy takes her show and dog expenses off as a business expense and she hasn't had a litter herself for about two years. It is time she gets to claim an income. I had to rearrange the bed in the rig again to accommodate a large crate. Lark now has a three month old Golden Retriever puppy here learning how to be a dog. Her name is Jill (or Jillie). I don't trust leaving her loose in the rig if I'm not right there....too much learning yet to complete. I don't know if I will have time to make it up to New York State visit my son again like last time. Their schedule is pretty complex. I know they are leaving on a vacation but don't know when those two weeks are. First I have to take Jane in for another progesterone test early Monday morning to help predict when ovulation will/or has occurred. Given what she tested Thursday afternoon I should not have to repeat the mad 500 mile dash that just about killed me last October. So far we are guessing Wednesday for the first breeding. That gives me two days to drive out and slow down for welcoming flat driveways.

Congratulations to the girls softball team, that was fantastic news! We finally got rain tonight, almost an inch, hope it helps with the drought we are having. We could use some more.
Hope everyone has a good week.

Went over to my son's house today to return Daisy. She was better yesterday after I had worked with her for a couple of walks on not tugging, but I told my son he needs to work with her without the shock collar! Besides the ethical issues, the problem is that she has figured out that she only has to behave with the shock collar on. She is smart enough to know that there will be no consequences when she is wearing a regular collar!! Then my son suggested a spike collar, and I told him it would be the same problem with two sets of rules--behavior different with and without special collar. Basically, he needs to work with her using voice commands and praise with the regular collar so she knows to behave all of the time. Plus, teen grandkids also need to work with her so she knows she has to obey EVERYONE, not just my son. FYI- She does a great job of getting into the heel position with that command, but her idea of heeling is something you do for only about 2 seconds!!! The person who did the training is the lady he bought the dog from, supposedly a professional breeder, and she entirely uses shock collars, which is what I think has caused this problem. The other problem is that Brittanys are very, very active dogs and love to run, literally for miles if they can.

Anyway, she was glad to be able to run around their big yard when I took her home. That is the one positive thing she does very well. Their hours is on about an acre of land with no fences and a paved street. She almost never strays or runs onto the neighbor's property. I watched her sit at the edge of the road and watch the neighbors across the street for quite a while, and she did not budge past the curb.

My son helped me back my rig up into his driveway and then we washed it, or at least he used the brush and soap and I rinsed it. Then I went through my list of little things I cannot do because I don't have the tools or can't reach up high enough. He cut one bolt off a storage door and installed a replacement latch, screwed my CO2 detector to the ceiling of RV, helped me take off one hubcap and fasten loose part that has been rattling, figured out light under stove vent was not working because socket was greasy so cleaned it and got light working, and a couple of other things I cannot remember.

With my long drives from Colorado last week, plug the dog, things have really gotten messy in my rig. I am at a new camp site with a large cement pad and full hookups, so first thing I did tonight was to vacuum the inside and straighten out part of the mess. Still need to vacuum and dust over-cab bunk area and under dinette where i store a lot of stuff. Will do that tomorrow and also two loads of laundry. Changed my bedding and switched out my winter down comforter with my summer lightweight quilt. Amazing how fast a small space can get out of control!!

been watching one of my favorite Murder She Wrote episodes it's a two parter so glad that they put them back to back... Beth what show was it that you were watching just curious ... I wish that when they start up new shows that they would continue like last year they started up one where the women was a hair stylist and her husband had died and the new detective was in a picture that her husband had and we have not had another one... and if they are not making anymore 101 mysteries then edit out the end of the last one so we can quit wondering what happened between Amy and Travis...
you can see I watch way to much Hallmark Mysteries and Movies
visited over the phone with Cheryl today she is wet and cold where she is at... which is too bad my dd in WA said that it's not been wet this year and now Cheryl is getting it..
bought some Rosemary and garlic I think bread... is yummy so thinking it might make a good bread for grilled cheese sandwiches might have to have them maybe Tues. maybe
I am thinking of going over to Driggs to where my niece works pick up my stuff she got for me... (taking mom with as well) if my dd can't meet us for lunch stop at the drugstore and get milk shakes then on to where my friends work and get my robo vacuum and then home it will be a long drive but it will also be nice to be out...
you all have a great day
