Friday, June 16th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday, June 16th

Morning all. Cloudy, 53°. Yesterday was a damp chilly day, never made it past 59° We did have rain in the morning and then it was a Misty type rain late in the afternoon into the evening. Supposed to be sunny today and starting to warm up. I think the flowers and gardens would appreciate some warmer weather, but not too hot.

Busy day for me today. Taking the dogs to the groomer at noon, then going out for Chinese buffet, after I drop them off. Might take a quick run to grocery store, then will have to go pick them up. Once I get home, neighbors who’s house I check on when they aren’t here, are up for first time this year and they want me to come over for a visit this afternoon, after I get home.

Lyn, put your cheering cap on, as the Girls team won their game yesterday and are playing in the finals tomorrow. First time in the history of the school. Not nay that, the 2 home runs hit in the game yesterday, broke the Michigan State High School Athletic Association record for the most home runs in a season, 71. One of those home runs actually flew and bounced off the scoreboard at Central Michigan University during their Quarterfinals game. These girls have been playing together since They were little, so They are family. They stay calm under pressure and they push each other to excel. They were in the semi finals two years ago, but lost that one. This time they punched the ticket to the finals. Not only that, but on the eastern edge of this county is a smaller school made up of students from two communities, as is the case with many small rural area towns. Johannesburg-Lewiston High School only has about 219 students, 700 in the whole district which compromises parts of two counties about 30 miles east of Gaylord. They too are in the Girls Softball State semis for their division today. If they win, there will be two area schools, playing in state finals.

Judy, so sorry to hear about your aunt. Like others have said, she’s better off staying where she is. I’m glad you can park now and rest.

I haven’t heard about the DMV’s getting compromised. Doesn’t surprise me, as hackers are getting more and more devious. It’s why I don’t keep a lot of online accounts or charge cards on file with places I do business with unless I have to. I don’t do much online ordering anyway.

I cut out the 4th of July pattern piece for the girl figure yesterday, so now need to prime it and then trace the pattern on it. Am working in the boys now. I decided that one of the pattern sets that I ordered, I am not going to use, so I sent that back yesterday. I have enough gh to get me through to Thanksgiving.

Need to get a move on here. Take a shower, run a brush over the dogs etc., before we leave. So will wish all of you a nice day wherever you are.

Good Morning, It is going to be summer weather today, high eighties and 73% humidity makes it uncomfortable to be out. But my outings are limited as I still don't have my van back and DH is at the Toyota dealership again with his '23 Rav4....they can't get all the tech stuff to work. The radio goes off and on and they can't load his profile. Mine is computer related they don't want to talk to each other whatever that means. She said I can probably pick it up after nine today but she would call. So far no ringie dings! I have taken my cars to this woman for at least 30 years and she specializes in Toyotas. My neighbors on both sides have Toyotas that she maintains and they both have over 300,000 miles on them. I only have 48,000 so was definitely expecting a fix. :D
Judy I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. I was talking to the homeopath I work with in Brazil about my concern that there seems to be so little information as to planning for aging here. One of my friends is struggling with a husband who has dementia and the legal aspects as to whether her assets are really separate from his as she was led to believe by lawyers. But now it seems it is possible she could loose pretty much everything and the elder lawyers she has talked to disagree as to how or what can be done.
I have someone coming at ten for hypnosis and reiki so need to get me and the dogs organized.

Good morning Sue, and all who come in later. I have been out watering, we will be 87 today...then down to 75 tomorrow with I few days of 65, 62, 65......crazy weather. We usually start getting hot in the end of May and dont really cool off until sometime in September LOL crazy weather all over I guess but glad ours is not real hot. We might even have some showers on Sunday and Monday. We probably wont get much but every little bit helps. We have a couple of fires going on here in Oregon. They seem to be getting a handle on them quickly, but the one in NE Oregon is the biggest

Hat Rock
Fire Type: Wildfire
Acres Burned: 15,843.00 Acres
Percent Contained: 70%
Start Date: 6/13/2023, 12:05 PM

Judy sorry to hear about your aunt. Hospice is great out here, I had zero complaints.
BJ sorry to hear of tech problems. I have mine pretty well dialed in but still dont understand everything but I will get there. The things I need to work I have figured out the stuff I would probably either never or rarely use and will tackle some of the others at a later date.
I went and got my hearing aids yesterday.....going to take some getting used to. Everything seemed loud once I got home, I crinkled up a receipt that was in my car, OMG So I went on my phone on the app and turned them down and it was much better. I do like that when I talk on the phone it comes thru my hearing aids. I haven't put them in yet this morning. Shower first lol I dont need to wear them all the time as I actually hear pretty well, it is just when watching tv sometimes that I dont hear that well. I know they mumble anyway and have loud background music but we shall see I hope they help. I will put them in after the shower as I know I have to get used to them, The soft spoken people wearing masks used to bother me but bothered lots of people LOL

Since it will be rather warm today I think I will just putter around the house. I got my license plates for my new car yesterday so will put them on today.

More All, 74°showers and heavy t-siorms into the night. I chopped up tomato sugar snap peas and put in dumpster. I will slowly take several trips bagging up potting soil and eventually take to some family members garden. Tired of dealing with selfish inconsiderate birdwomam. I’m having overload of sad news so I tend to keep to myself. Judy, I understand you feelings because I am sometimes haunted by decisions I have had to make for loved ones. They were the right ines but still hurts. Yesterday spent a couple hours with #2 granddaughter. We went to the farmers market where I stocked up on sour dough bread which was quartered and put in the freezer. A couple days ago I cooked a 3 lb chicken in the crockpot. It’s called a rotisserie chicken but the skin doesn’t brown which is ok I don’t eat it anyway. A $3 chicken has provided several delicious dinners. I’m giving Joe Pickett a break after watching an episode last night. I couldn’t get to sleep even though I told myself it was only a tv show. Think I need some extra chocolate. Be safe

Shirl, I thought of you this morning and smiled. It was a memory that came up that I was tagged on thought I don't think I was at that particular GTG. It was one of Lori and Docks in PA. The pictures included Irmi and Steve, Pauline and yourself, Liz and Nan, and Beth and two other individuals who I had met before at one of their GTGs that I think may have worked with Dock at the ABC store. The location looked like it might have been at their family campground. Anyway it brought back memories of Lori's hospitality that she always held out for all of us. And Dock always trying to get me to have that second glass of wine which I tries to explain made, in my case, late night walking of dogs too difficult.

Tina, I remember that gtg. It was in Harrisburg, don’t remember cg. I made sausage gravy and biscuits. Leave it up to me to remember food. Lol. I’m still using the Lori’s white hand towel

Judy, sorry about the situation with your aunt. Very frustrating for you and hard to believe they want to send her where she doesn't meet the basic requirements. Karen, our weather is following the same pattern right now with cooler days. We did get smoke from a fire in British Columbia along with a lot of wind. I'm anxious to hear if the hearing aids help with the TV. I so often would miss a word because they mumbled so started using CC. Shirl, I am so sorry about your neighbor ruining your gardening. Management was no help I take it? Sheila, we had an issue in Salome with packages having to have P.O. Box number and places like Amazon would say 'we don't ship to P.O. boxes' so we had to find a work around. Sue, good for the softball team! Exciting to see locals do well. I saw the photo on FB of the gtg Tina mentioned - before my time. Sure miss everyone!

Along with robe and pj's, I have now realized my portable phone charger is missing! I did get a couple more wire shelves for the entry closet and the 'office' closet (which is large since it's supposed to be the main bedroom closet). Basically to hold some of the stuff I don't know what to do with yet but can get it off the floor. :)

I've had a lazy morning so should probably get dressed. Seem to have irritated another muscle so may just read a book and decide where to hang pictures.

I quit working in the yard as it got too hot in the sun. I wasn't even working hard, just dead heading some of my flowers and deep watering my tomatoes, beans and squash. I am upset at this news of our DMV being hacked. They aren't even offering free monitoring with the 3 credit reporting agencies, Just tell you to freeze your accounts. Sheesh

I went and got my hair cut this morning. Then treated myself to lunch at one of the better restaurants in town. They have an avocado stuffed with shrimp salad that I like. Then I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a fried catfish dinner for tonight. There were very few cars in the parking lot so I was afraid the deli was still closed but it wasn't . I should have my fill of seafood today.

If anyone is missing the heat it's over here. The high was only 95 but it feels hotter than that. I let Sugar out last night at midnight and it was still hot. This morning we were under a severe thunderstorm warning but there wasn't anything on the radar. I don't know what they were talking about. On the news there was a report that one of the main streets in Lafayette was closed because the road buckled. Hope that doesn't happen on the interstate. One of the main streets in Abbeville is in bad shape. There was something on the news that the city was in negotiations with the state to get it fixed because it's a state highway. I have been complaining about it for several years.

It's been 4 weeks since I mowed in Maurice. I passed there the other day and the grass isn't too bad because we haven't had any rain. Maybe I can make it over there tomorrow.

I have trouble understanding some of the TV shows too. We could do without all the music. I watch PBS a lot and some of their shows are from England. I really have trouble understanding them.

I'm afraid if I get a new car I will never get the electronics figured out. On the Coach House Facebook page people are always asking questions about the new systems they are putting in the new coaches. I can barely operate what I have. Somehow I have removed the camera icon from my phone so have a hard time taking a picture. My son said he could put it back but I keep forgetting to ask him.

Good evening, gals!

Am just watching the US Open Golf tournament. Sure makes me miss playing! I won 2 tournaments on my ladies leagues years ago.

My wrist is hurting today. Not sure how I wrenched it but I have had issues with it before. I have a soft brace on it but can't find my good one that is more firm and supportive.

Am working on making the new cat door. I have to work on it on the floor to keep it on a flat surface since it is flexible, so I have to take occasional breaks for my back. Hopefully, I will finish it tonight. I have a long narrow piece of lattice to fit the door frame (7ft X 10") that I am wrapping in clear plastic (from a shower curtain liner) and will cut the skinny pool noodles lengthwise and glue along the edges. That should fit snuggly in the slider door and give it more support. Need to cut a door flap in the bottom for the kitties to go thru.

Keep thinking it is Saturday! Glad it is just Friday. I got my SS check deposited today. It has been coming on Saturdays lately instead of the following Wednesdays. I get mine available a day early from my bank now. So a little relief for now.

I need to get my hair cut too. The back is getting too long. Will see if my old manager can cut it for me this week.

As for cars, I will never buy a new car. Never had one and can't afford one but also don't want to deal with all the bells and whistles. I like ones that are a little older but still in good shape. Most of my cars I have had good luck with (except for the POS Grand Cherokee I bought to pull my trailer from MN to CA). I have learned that buying from a smaller used car dealer, I get a better deal for a better car. They have to worry more about their reputation than the big car dealers do.

I had bought some special insulating tape to put around my windows to keep any drafts from coming in, but now when I want to put it on, I can't find it! I really need to clean this place up. I am missing several things lately. I need to find a job. I do better with cleaning house, etc, when I have a job. Just more energy and motivation when I work. Sitting home day after day, I just get so lazy and let things go too long. I was the same way during the shut downs from Covid.

Kitties have been sleeping most of the day.

Enjoy the rest of the day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Martha, here’s how to find your photo app lost from the home screen assuming you have an iPhone:

Go to the Home Screen then swipe left past all of your Home Screen pages to get to the App Library. You should be able to see your app there then tap it. If you can’t find it there, tap the search field at the top of the screen then enter the name of the app.

Sandi, I don't have an iPhone but I got the icon back on the main screen. I found the camera icon and put my finger on it and started moving it and it went to the main screen. I don't know what I did to remove it.

Barbie, I think I got more done at home when I was working too. It easy to put things off until later and later never gets here. I spend a lot of time looking for things. I can have something and 5 minutes later I can't find it. I brought some white duck tape in from the motorhome to fix something and now I can't find the tape or what I wanted to fix.

I read earlier and was starting to reply when I got interrupted. Now I'm half asleep and don't remember what I wanted to say.

Judy, I hope you can find a peaceful solution with your aunt. Hospice was the best thing for both my mother in-law and my mother. The two hospice programs were completely different but both were what was needed. What you've said about the caregivers makes me wonder about their decision making processes.

I agree about getting more done when working. But I will say I've been fairly productive this week. It seems I have to make messes to get rid of messes, though.

Off to bed. Oh, Karen, one thing I meant to say is when I read the link about your DMV it flabbergasted me that they held back on informing/reporting about it. Editing because I remembered something else for you, Karen. When he set your hearing aids, it was to make your hearing as close to "normal" as possible. You obviously had more loss than you knew because the "normal" was too loud lol. I remember hearing, really hearing, birds when I first got hearing aids. Today I was telling the noisy feathered friends they could tone it down (but I don't mean it).

I think you are right Beth have to make messes to clean up I so need to put some stuff away which means cleaning off the top of the bins to put stuff in it... maybe now that I've finished the hat I will make myself take care of the accumulated stuff... and I have two blankets that I put in the bins for the summer so need to do that...
yes I did finish the hat with the exception of the sewing there is a part of the end of the hat that gets turned up and sewed in place and then the flower is sewn in that area... but none of my needles have a big enough head to let the yarn go through so put that on the list for the niece to pick up which means I won't get it finished until sometime next week then I can hopefully make it look like the pattern :? the flower has 6 petals now instead or 4 or 5 doesn't look as good as the pattern but it's is what is
Barbie actually that area is in the national forest in part not sure when the forest ends so it maybe totally in the national forest... with the exception of the privately owned ranches...
Anita did you find your tags yet? I still need to send for the ones for the 5th wheel just don't think of it before it's closed for the day
Judy hopefully you can figure things out for your aunt really hard to do long distance are your appointments so that you can fly down and take care of things??
Glad you found the article Barbi
didn't do much took mom to get her toenails trimmed before next time will get in touch with a foot dr... although it only cost 20 dollars which was worth it
you all have a good day
