Wet Thursdsy Morning, 6/15

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet Thursdsy Morning, 6/15

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jun 15, 2023 7:30 am

Morning everyone. Woke up to everything wet from rain this morning. Not supposed to have a lot, possibly a half inch, but every bit helps. I think this is the first time that I have not mowed grass more than twice in the spring. This is usually the time we do the majority of the mowing. Seems strange. Temp is 54°. Heading into 60’s today.

Glad I finished spreading out that pile of dirt yesterday. Now the rain can settle it down. That project is done. One more big project to do and that’s painting the deck, touching up the porch railings and porch floor and some trim on side garage door. But today is going to be woodcraft day. Working in one outfit for the boy and cutting out the one for the girl. Be time to put out 4th of July decorations pretty soon.

Beth, glad you are getting settled into your casita routine. Judy will probably be at her son’s today. Shelia, glad you are making progress on the afghan. Sharon, thinking of your granddaughter and the long road to recovery she has. Too bad you can’t find some type of activity for Buddy to take part in, to burn off his energy. Lyn, you mentioned a while back a boy not being interested in sweets. I’m getting to be the same way. I’m not 100% as I do have a donut at church after Mass for social time and may once in a while I Mi tight I duldge on one, but otherwise I’m turned off sweets. Just don’t want that sugar. Don’t even remember last time I have had ice cream. Watching carbs too. Pretty much away from gluten, not that I have to, just want to. Not that I shy away from some carbs like bread, if I am eating out and it’s part of my meal, but I have eliminated sweets, bread etc. from my house. I feel great, have all kinds of energy and have lost 10 pounds so far.

Bit of excitement starting to surface in Gaylord. The High School Girls Softball team is playing in the State Softball Semi finals today. They are ranked the top team in the state in their division, a very talented group of young ladies, two of whom are also ranked among the top girls softball players nationally. They have been unstoppable so far. Keeping fingers crossed. They made it to semi’s last year but lost. I have a feeling this may be their year. School is takng a fan bus down to the game in Lansing. Thry sent them out of town with escort, sirens and everything. I’m

Good morning, I think LOL I woke up at 3:30 for some silly reason, Managed to stay in bed until 4 but then had to get up. So just cruising the internet, reading my emails, etc Turned on the news at 5, nothing good ha ha
I go get my hearing aids today, hmmm we shall see. They said if I dont like them I can return them within 30 days. I probably wont wear them all the time as I do hear fine, just the mumbling on tv is irritating. The other issue they play some god awful loud music and it drown out what the people are saying, I hate that. Why they think that is a good thing I will never know. I know I have to get used to them and will give it a shot. So much fun.
Not much else going on here right now. Think I need more coffee.

Heading out to get a good walk in with Ty while temps are still comfortable (low 60's right now). Mid 90's are the highs today. Will also do an hour or so of outside work after we return. Then continue doing some inside chores. Lots and lots of those planned. Maybe my 2nd Roku stick will appear lol

Wish we would get some rain, very dry here, not sure my lawn will recover. Sue, good luck to the girls softball team, hope they make it all the way this year!! It is so much fun to watch the girls play, I watched some of the college playoffs, they are so good!

I'm leaving on Monday for my first big trip since COVID. The last couple years have stuck pretty close to home. Meeting some friends in Gettysburg, which will be fun. From there I am heading north to upper NY and then to Vermont, NH and Maine. Depending on fire situation may go to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. On way home planning on cutting across to Sault St. Marie and then down the UP to WI.

Hope everyone has a fun, safe summer.

Good Morning, I will root for your Gaylord softball team Sue. Hazel is a stubborn dog also. She was4 years old when I got her, and, she does know some commands. She is a real couch potato too! However, I like that. She wants to sit (sleep) next to me always. She sleeps for 12 hours at night, in my bed. Her stubbornness is notable when we are out on the street. She has discovered people drop much food, especially after a ballgame. If she smell’s something good she will pull on the harness to get to it. She is so strong I just sit there holding the leash until she is willing to continue our walk.
Sun came out at 4 PM yesterday. First time I’ve seen blue sky in many days. Today it is o’cast.
Our city council voted to do something about the homeless situation here. However, included issuing a ticket if they don’t move. That’s useless. Also putting them in jail is useless. I believe some “tough love” is needed here.

It's really getting dry here. I'm sure the pasture is suffering where the cows are. My neighbor is watering the lot where his mule is.

Lyn, my dog could pull your scooter if she thought she could get to some food. I told her I was going to get a muzzle if she didn't quit eating crap.

I don't know what cities can do about the homeless. There was something on the news tonight that someone needed to make at least $19 an hour to afford a small apartment and the state minimum wage is only $7.25. Cities pass laws that won't allow the tiny houses or let people live in RV's. There are some places that you can't live in an RV on your own property in the country.

Beth, I don't know how we can lose something in such a small place. I looked for my GPS for several months and it was in the motorhome. I had looked in there several times.

The Honda place finally called me back so I could make an appointment for service. I can't believe they are that busy. My appointment isn't until Tuesday.

I would like to go walk but it's still 91.

I had to double check a few places this morning and found the second Roku! Yay. So I came in and plugged it in and instead of doing things on my list got comfortable and watched the latest Joe Pickett episode.

Martha, I just read about the DMV in Louisiana has been compromised. You might want to check what they're recommending people do just in case.

Temps are down to 85 and going down, so time for Ty's last walk.

Been reading posts, but not posting until late lately. I am 200% stressed out. Aunt is dying, has not eaten more than 100 calories per day in two weeks. Is bedridden and cannot even lift her head, but care managers we hired are suggesting a care home instead of assisted living or a nursing home, and she really needs a nursing home and hospice. And frankly, I don't think she is going to make it out of the hospital. Just read the documents for one recommended home and it has only "proxy" nursing care and "proxy" medication givers. They are given in-house training in a lot of things, and also have basic first-aid and CPR training. Plus the documents they want me to sign say all residents must be ambulatory and able to feed themselves!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, very limited visiting hours, so would you like your relatives to leave you there????

My blood pressure is high, which explains my daily afternoon headaches. And RV has a loose swaybar, and I keep worrying about tires. Plus last two days have been 11-12 hours of driving. But I made it to Ohio, and will start doctor appts on Monday.

Sorry for complaints, but I am going to take a shower and go to bed, hopefully to get some sleep.

before I forget because even though I read by the time I start posting I've forgotten what I wanted to respond to... especially true if there has been lots to read :o
so Barbi it's a road that follows the Gros Ventre River east part of the valley... it is beautiful up there... there are a lot of beautiful areas in the area
Sue good luck with your school's team hope they do the town proud
When I get back into the 5th wheel will need to figure out the tv situation I canceled Direct TV when no one could get it to work got tired of pay over a hundred a month and not being able to use it... was going to get Dish but didn't has things have happened glad that I didn't..
it's strange the difference in area's and how Hospice works when Larry was in it it was in our 5th wheel when my brother was in hospice (the the Vegas area) it was part of the hospital ... I've heard of hospice that are in stand a lone places ... and yes they do differ I hear rave review of hospice and the care that their love ones received I didn't feel like we got the support needed and actually changed company's shortly before he died... even though they were better I still wasn't overly impressed...
glad that your kitties are playing well together is she responding to the new name??
It looks like it was a good time to leave TX sounds like they have gotten pretty bad weather
here a lot of the packages end up at the post office so when you order stuff you are suppose to put your po box number on the order some such as first name.... po box number... last name if you don't have it somewhere on the pkg and it ends up at the post office it's sent back immediately for lack of sufficient address... although one of the company's does deliver fed x I think but I would still put it on cause who knows...
glad that you found your ROKU stick Beth even if it derailed your day...
didn't do much today but try to get the flower right still haven't succeeded  did vacuum and watered plants... down to one row on the hat and then I change the pattern hopefully I've found the 3rd stitch...
you all have a great day
oh Barbie not sure how you would find it but saw this "Life Hacks to help people with ADHD including those who don't have a diagnosis I didn't read the article so like I said not sure how you would find it but...

Judy, I hope you can take some time now to destress (from the driving) and relax a little. So sorry to hear about your aunt. Maybe she is better off staying in the hospital now so she can get 'round the clock care. Once they stop eating, it doesn't take long for their organs to shut down. Is that an option for her to stay there in her conditon? Can they bring hospice in there for her? Otherwise a nursing home is the only other real option for someone in her declining condition. Sorry you are having to deal with this (((hugs)))

Sophie is playing with her toy mousy. So fun to watch her play like a wild kitten! I ordered some kitty treats with vitamins and minerals for cats that I got today. She isn't crazy about them but will eat them. She needs about 5 or 6 each day (one for each pound of weight). I am seeing that the fur she is pulling out is just above her hips on both sides and seems to be sensitive to the touch there. Hopefully, the vet can figure out what is going on. Maybe she is having some discomfort in that area. Everything else seems fine. She is eating well, using the litter box well (poo's look normal), and very active. She certainly isn't in obvious distress. She seems to react better to hearing "Sophie" than she did to "McKenzie". I think it is more the sound of it that catches her attention better. (and I am remembering it better! ).

Got the medical bill taken care of with the insurance company. The orthodepedic clinic didn't put in any insurance info when I was there, so that is why I got billed.

Made brownies today. Needed a chocolate fix! I can't buy chocolate at the store now because it will melt before I get home. Even buying milk is risky. I try to pack all frozen and dairy products in one bag together so they keep each other cold until I get home. I should get an insulated cooler to put that kind of stuff in. I have some insulated bags I got at WM but they are kind of flat so not much fits in them.

Beth, glad you are finally in Benson. There is a heatwave hitting Texas and some places there are expected to hit over 120* in the next couple days!! :o

I was able to watch the US Open Golf Tournament on TV today. They are showing it on a regular channel instead of just the golf channel because it is one of the biggest tournaments in the PGA . Usually they don't have the tournaments available on unpaid channels until the weekend. So that was fun. Will watch again tomorrow.

Martha, I hope you get some rain soon! Hope you get your generator finally fixed too. You will probably be getting the Texas heat wave soon too.

so Barbi it's a road that follows the Gros Ventre River east part of the valley.

Sheila, is that inside Grand Tetons NP? Oh, and I just found the ADHD article you mentioned. Will read it tonight.

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Judy, sorry to hear about your aunt. It's hard enough to handle someone that is sick when you are with them. I wouldn't have much faith in care managers that think she can live in a place with little care when she can't get out of bed. It sounds like she needs hospice. Here one of the hospices sees patients in the nursing homes. There is also one where patients stay. Hope you can rest and get your RV seen about.

I saw the news about the DMV information being hacked. My credit reports have been frozen for 6 years. I can't access my credit unless I unfreeze the reports so hope no one else can either.

Sheila, I don't think cats care very much what you call them as long as you call them for dinner. lol

Barbie, when I give Sugar pills I use some dog food that is like canned but comes in little trays. I keep it in the refrigerator so it's more solid. I slice thin slices and wrap them around her pills. She won't touch a pill pocket. Maybe you could try that to get Sophie to eat the treats better. I keep a small ice chest in my car. If I remember that I'm going to the grocery store I put one or two of the blue ice things in it.

There is a recipe for scones on the Pioneer Baking Mix box that I wanted to try but mine was old. I got a new box at Walmart and made the scones with dried cranberries. The texture isn't like other scones I have made. They are more like biscuits. Probably because they are made with a biscuit mix.

Good morning, Lyn.

Thanks for posting about Hazel. Whenever you post about her, it always puts a big smile on my face. She sure sounds like a sweetie, and I am glad that you have found each other, and it is working out so well.

I can't imagine life without a dog at my side. I haven't been without a dog at my side for more than forty years.

Life without a dog. . . just isn't "life". At least not for me.

Thanks again!
