Chilly, DAMP Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chilly, DAMP Sunday

Yes, you read that right. It is chilly, only 53° as I write this and it’s RAINING! Finally after a month which featured no rain, a week of hot weather, record setting temps for 3 days, high to extreme fire danger, Red flag and Fire Watch weather, smokey skies from our Canadian neighbors, we are getting nice gentle rain. Not enough to thoroughly soak the ground, but enough to give everything a drink and leave water puddles around. We aren’t supposed to get a lot, They say maybe an inch over the next couple days. Hoping Canada is seeing some of this, but I doubt it. The winds blowing from the NE. Was from the north when I was walking into church and it smelled so fresh with the scent of pine and spruce. I don’t think there is one person complaining in Northern Michigan, especially the farmers.

These next couple days are supposed to be a bit chilly, so will be good stay inside and get house cleaning done and work on woodcrafts. I did get the base set in the flowerbed for my statue project yesterday, dug up and cleaned the flowerbed all along the house, around my shrubs out front and the one around the flagpole, then gave everything including the entrance flower box a good watering. So things are as good as I can get them out there right now. Will paint the statue later. Cut out the 4th of July outfit for the boy yesterday and plan to start working in it this afternoon.

Sandi, those flowers are beautiful. We are so lucky to be able to walk and enjoy the beauty of spring around us. It’s nice to see how spring looks in other parts of the country too. We all have something a little different. I’m kind of like your FIL on the don’t water and have green grass thing. I guess it’s a case of if grass is supposed to be there, nature will do the work for us. Surprisingly, nature is growing its own grass in my yard. It’s interesting driving down the road and looking at how nice and green natures grass is, despite it being so dry, as compared to what we humans try to do. We spend hours watering, depleting the aquifers, spending a fortune on water bills if you live in a city, fertilizing the grass, destroying the soil and its beneficial nutrients and spend a fortune on seed, fertilizer, weed killer and mower gas, all for a pool table green lawn. Even as dry as it is. I’ve even got wild flowers popping up in my yard. I surrounded a clump of wild daisies last year when they came up, with some stone and they’re doing a really good again right now. I’ve got some small yellow ones popping up here and there that I have yet to identify. As soon as I do, I might move some to my flagpole flowerbed and see what happens.

Busy week coming up here. Load of dirt arriving Tuesday, Molly to vet on Wednesday and both to groomer on Friday. Hoping the rain brings down last of pollen, so maybe I can paint my deck down the line here. Have to paint the repaired area on my porch beam and touch up the railings. Porch floor needs some touch ups as well. Contemplating hiring a painter but not sure I want to dish out the green, they don’t work cheap. Plus, he would have to do the back deck in two stages, because I need to be able to let my dogs out of the house, so I usually do one section one day, and then close off the other section and do that one the next day. Then I will have the load of dirt to spread around too. Once I get all of these projects done, then we can start bumming around.

Yeah for rain!!! Sue glad you are also getting much needed rain. I was starting to think it was going to miss us or not be very much but it started around noon and is still coming down. Sue do your dogs shed much and does the groomer trim them anywhere?
I impressed myself by solving an issue with my printer this morning. I needed to scan some paperwork and the scanner would not work. So I went into system settings, then chose printers and scanners. The wrong printer had been selected for the scanner and I changed it and it worked. Surprised me! I learned a lot though from the woman who set all my new system.
I bought strawberries yesterday at the farmers market and we are going to have vanilla bean ice cream with mashed strawberries on top later this afternoon. Yum

We had a couple days of rain and cooler temperatures! Sandi, what wonderful photos! I was gone when the orchards bloomed this year so missed out.

Sheila, I am on the first floor. With no elevator, that's my only choice. Older daughter (nurse) made sure we were aware of how our living arrangements should be with old age in case we couldn't climb stairs. :) Martha, frustrating that a/c is tripping a breaker! Sharon, I feel for your granddaughter.

On my way to pick up grocery order yesterday, I dropped off all the large plastic bins at my daughter's. Made the mistake of asking if they were celebrating their anniversary which is tomorrow. No, son-in-law making another trip north today to bring brother-in-law (probably sister) for doctor's appointment tomorrow! She really doesn't need this ever but especially right now with school drama. They never ask when it would be convenient. This is shades of her ex - lazy, entitled family before her.

Good morning gals!(oops! It's already noon!)

Glad you gals north and east are getting much needed rain! Had a lot of wind overnight and it is still really windy out but much cooler. High in the mid 80's today. Next week will be getting up over 100*.

I think I am gonna have to take McKenzie to the vet this week. :( She is still losing a lot of fur. This morning I found big clumps of fur all over the living room! Looked like a big cat fight had happened but there was no fighting. I am thinking she is pulling it out herself (rather than it falling out). Probably a stress thing, but need to be sure.

I took a picture of the clumps I gathered this morning (I included my toes for size comparison  ).

Sue, I laughed at this because I am sure once you finish those projects, you will have 10 more waiting for you! I wish I had a fraction of your energy! My house would look amazing with just a little of that!

Have a good day, rain or shine!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Hi ladies!

Sue, I'm glad you are getting some much needed rain. We need it here in central FL, too. It thundered this afternoon and we got maybe 100 drops, but it has since left. BJ, I have always been electronically illiterate, so I'm so proud of you for taking care of business. Anita, even when I go outside to water our plants in the early morning hours, we have several levels of pavers and I'm very careful when I step onto different levels. Things are so different now. Barbie, I know absolutely nothing about cats, but I would say a call into the vet wouldn't be a bad idea.

It's 95 here in central FL. It's supposed to be windy tomorrow and day after. Nothing new here...just enjoying life.

I'm at a winery tonight. Travels here interesting. I'm so glad I picked Sunday to travel. There was a bad accident on the interstate but didn't take long to pass because lighter traffic. I picked today because El Paso is another city it's a pain to drive through, but Sundays are pretty easy. Checking gas buddy last night showed Sam's club the cheapest gas by about 50 cents. Some Sam's are hard to navigate the gas terminals with the RV and car. This one looked like it's be pretty easy. Ha, the joke was on me. I elected to go to the last row of pumps thinking it'd be easier for me. Get pulled up and discover all rows have to exit to the right. The last row, mine, it would be impossible for me to make the turn. The good thing about Sam's is they have someone out by the pumps if you need help. I do admit I was shaking because I was pissed at myself. But while the gas was pumping, I got the young man's attn and told him I'd have to move in because I can't make that turn. He asked if I could reverse and learned, no that's not possible towing my car. He was so sweet while I was so embarrassed. He went and closed one of the middle lanes and when I finished pumping he stopped all leaving vehicles so I could go the wrong way and exit in the lane he had closed. And considering I saved 50 cents a gallon for over 40 gallons, Yep I'd do it again lol

Now I'm at a winery. Purchased 2 bottles of wine. One I plan to keep, I plan to gift. I'm using some of this gas to keep Ty and I cool. It's over 90 degrees and these tin boxes heat up so quickly. I was told he can come with me to the outside patio, so we might do that for a bit in a while.

Sandi, I, too, love all the pictures you posted. Anita, I totally understand about no stairs. I can't do hikes I would have gladly gone on a couple years ago. I've been considering, at some point, getting a tt for either the lot I like to winter at in Texas or even the one in Arizona. 5th wheels are out. No stairs I don't have to have.

Beth, I knew you were leaving soon but of course what day slipped my mind. I found a work around for El Paso - 375 and 54 took me back to I 10. I knew it could be iffy but was quite pleasant. Don't feel bad your gas station episode! Probably better than when I accidentally got in the lane to Canada! My excuse was heavy traffic and construction so I missed signs. Traffic coming south was backed up so I'm sure people weren't happy when they stopped them so I could get in line. :) Plus, my Passport was in the camper so had to get it out at Customs! Continued safe travels.

Anita, I've done that work around also. But Sundays I'm ok. Thanks for reminding me of you accidentally going to Canada. I love the things we do and that we admit to them. Right now I'm grateful my generator is working. I've picked the hottest day for me so far and I'm boondocking. Well, it's at a winery and I got myself some wine, but we need the AC. My generator is getting a great workout. Ty had to remind me we had a time change and it was past his dinner time. I think he's ready for bed now. Me too if it wasn't so dang hot. Will be nice in the morning and will have electric at my next stop for 2 nights. A short drive to it tomorrow, then a short drive to my Casita Wednesday.

Barbie, could you give the shelter that you got the cat from and ask about what might cause all that fur to fall out? They might have experience or even took cats/kittens to vets when they had so much fur falling out. I am wondering about nutrition. Has she gained weight while she has been with you? What about kitty vitamins?

Glad the kitties are at least finally playing together.

Drove through a lot of rain today from Kansas to Missouri. Supposed to be a little dryer and cooler tomorrow. Getting close to home, at least!!

It's been a laid back day church lunch then to the room nap won first then to scriptures... then supper worked on the afghan that this lady started sure don't blame her for laying it aside it's retched to work with... actually got to the 4 round on the hat... except had a wrong count so not sure think I will take it back to the marker and redo see if I can come up with fifty instead of 48 did the pattern should have been double in the last one not starting the single ones... oh well it will work out if not I might just pretend that it does... and wishing that I could find my tape measure no idea where I laid it down... my niece is going to pick up some stuff for me at walmart so might add that to the list tired of looking for it
Beth can't remember how long you will be in AZ ... do you know your route to Iowa yet?
I am hoping to get to go to Iowa sometime this summer perhaps in Aug... at least that is when I want to go. Larry was always going to take me to the Iowa State Fair but we never made it so would love to go to it... will see what happens but need to start talking about it... I think I need some time away... getting grumbly and mom is getting grumbly as well
I was thinking about being in the 5th wheel and regretting those stairs.. but if I make it to it that is what is... but glad you got the bottom floor...
glad the kitties are getting along... that is a lot of fur hope you find out what is causing it
you all have a good day hoping or some good
weather tomorrow so I can finish the containers

I made it home this afternoon. I took a chance and took I-12 and I-10 because I wanted to get home and not be messing around on Hwy 190. Of course it was fine until I got to Baton Rouge and it decided to rain when the traffic gets the worst. There were a few short rain storms at the campground but mostly the weather was good. To keep my breaker from tripping I opened the medal door where the breakers and fuses are and ran a small fan pointer at it. That seemed to work. I know the main breaker was changed and it wasn't tripping, just the breaker for the air conditioner. Why didn't they change all of them.

After I got everything unloaded I mowed. I am tired now. We are suppose to get some rain this week and the temperature could get up to 100. Good grief, this is June.

Beth, hope your generator doesn't give out. I ran mine part of the way to the campground so it's fixed again. How long that will last is anybody's guess.

Judy, could you use the glue traps for mice for your bug light? I don't know how much those cost so probably wouldn't be cheaper. They sell a light and sticky pads to trap fleas that I have been tempted to get for the old house. I have to set off flea bombs in there sometimes. Knowing my nosey cats, they would be running around with the sticky pads stuck to them.
