Wednesday June 7

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday June 7

Morning All, 66° code red and horrid air quality. My inhaler was no match yesterday against air. It took a couple hours for my breathing to return to normal. Birdwoman drench my tomatoe plant in some kind of liquid. Since she is feeding birds I do not know if it some kind of cleaning solvent or just water. Having a balcony garden isn’t worth being stressed. All in all it was a lousy day. Having lunch with two of my children at a local marina so will just enjoy the company. Will also wear a mask just to get to the restaurant. To those in affected areas be safe, this crap sneaks up on you.

Shirl, that’s a shame about bird lady dousing your plants with some unknown substance. We have the same problem here. Mostly it’s cigarettes landing on balconies. When we had patio furniture, a hole was burned on one from a cigarette. Every month when the managers letter comes out, it mentions cigarettes. The board is considering banning smoking on the balconies. I don’t know if that would work. As the balconies are owened by the home owners association the board claims they have permission to do so. I don ‘t smoke, so a. Ruling wouldn’t effect me except for saving me the cigarettes from falling on my balcony. When the wind blows the cigarettes off the balcony, how would the ever prove where it came from?
My leg wound is almost all healed. I have been released from going to get bandage changes to being allowed to do my own!
The softball finals began tonight. Only two or three nights to go then the season is over.

Good morning Shirl and Lyn, and all who follow. Another beautiful, cooler day in northern California. Not much planned, other than working at keeping BP in check by walking. Sure was nice to get a few drops rain yesterday. Shirl, make sure that mask is N95 and tight enough to seal. Smoke can really get you, I have a ER bill from 2014 to prove that. You might consider a small HEPA unit to run in your home, to keep air extra clean. I only use mine during smoky days, but sure helps. Got mine on sale on Amazon after reading bunches of reviews.

Afternoon all. The smoke from the fires in Canada has reached us. Hazy and red alert on air quality. I dropped Buddy off at boarding school yesterday afternoon. Despite threatening him with the dog pound I miss him already! Amazing how quiet it is around here! Text from trainer said he did a lot of barking yesterday but is getting used to the other dogs in their household and settling down now. Hoping she can get a handle on his behavior and help me keep it up. She comes highly recommended so I feel good about Buddy being there. So nothing else exciting happening here which is a good thing! Granddaughter is continuing her long journey with a lot of surgeries already and as expected it’s been up and down but she’s in one of the best burn units so far they’ve been able to stay on top of it all. Love hearing about all the gardens and seeing photos. I have one plant out back blooming right now and Buddy seems to think it’s fun to bite the blooms off and then just drop it. Brat! Luckily it’s not anything that can harm him. I was careful with that when I had my other dogs and this plant comes back every year. I have chiropractor appointment later today and guess I should go back upstairs and clear up the mess I have on the floor. Somehow I got started purging some of the tops I don’t wear or outgrew that have been hanging in my closet! One thing seems to lead to another and now it’s a mess! Just need to bag them up so that shouldn’t take long! Judy, I get what you’re talking about with the moths. My sister lives in the Denver area and this is something they deal with every year and she hates it! I’ve been there a couple of times during the moth season so can certainly relate! Okay, times getting away from me so better hop to it. Have a great day and stay safe.

Well, lunch was a disaster. Restaurant under new management and was the worse meal any of us has ever had. My sandwich was a chicken thigh with burnt bacon. Don’t like thighs and especially ones so tough a table knife would cut it. Sweet potato fries were so salty I could eat them. Daughter couldn’t eat her Cesar salad with chicken thigh. Son made no comment as he ate his over cooked burger. Guess that black is still hanging up there with the smoke. Will just hunker down and wait for clear skies. Lyn this complex is smoke free. I guess dirty water is better than a fire. It’s a sorry old world

Oh, Shirl, so sorry the restaurant went down so far. I doubt any of you will return. Sharon, I hope Buddy learns a lot and makes life easier and more fun for the two of you. Velda, my last trip to a doctor was from smoke from a fire that got my asthma going. It's never fun. I do have some N95's around that I can find if I need to. And fingers crossed for your blood pressure. I know walking around the gardens here is very good for both new and Ty. Hopefully I'll enjoy my walks back in Arizona.

This morning I spent time working on the oxidation on my RV again. It's hard doing anything on the driver's side because I'm close to a building, but there is definite improvement on the passenger side and back, with done on the driver's side. It got too hot. Oh, one of the workers helped remove the swirlies (my word lol) on the driver's and passengers doors. Especially the passengers door ones were dry and really in bad shape. I decided the lowest one on both doors aren't bad and let them remain. I'm hoping the couple I like in Arizona are still doing washes and waxes and I'll call to see if they'll come out while I'm there. They'll be thrilled with what I've done so far. And in going to try to keep it up better. But I just don't have it to do the full wash and wax. And they do a hand waxing. So I'm going they are still available. They do the best job. Then ran to town and filled my water gallons. Ty and I got about 1 1/2 miles of a walk in before I worked on the rig. Next I have to see if I can find out what it would cost to replace my screen door. It needs help and I've been babying it but it's gotten worse. Andrea, the maintenance person helping today looked and so far hasn't found a fix.

Now I'm pooped. As is Ty. He's napping. I'm trying not napping or I won't sleep tonight and the next 3 days are work days... The last here before hitting the road.

When I lived in my condo before buying my motorhome, we had wooden balconies. On the building next to us, some stupid renters had a habit of smoking on the second floor balconies, and one afternoon, they ended up not only setting their balcony on fire but the one below them. The husband of the downstairs owners was in the shower when his wife noticed the fire, so he had to run out with a towel around him, while his wife called the fire department. Owner of the upper condo finally believed us about these bad tenants and evicted them! (This was the lady who came knocking on doors one morning asking neighbors if they had seen any strange people go into her condo because she was missing $40,000 in cash. Like who keeps $40,000 in cash in their unit???? She was known for having a LOT of evening "parties" that lasted until dawn.)

Just downloading and going through some photos and found these two of the bugs in the bathroom after I had given up swatting and decided to spray the area with Raid. Gave it a good spray and then shut the door for an hour. Here are the results:

I had to pick up all the moths, then remove all the towels and rug, and finally wash down the walls, floor, and shower with soap and water!

Wow Judy that is a serious infestation. When I was working up by Salem they had posters about the Boxelder bugs. I found several in my rig over the next few months but nothing like your moths.
Been working out in the yard finishing setting up my drip system, it is kind of tedious and with interruptions this morning. Steve my neighbor handyman came over and fixed my water faucet on my deck so I no longer have to drag 75ft of hose from the front to the back. I wont have to anymore as soon as I finish the drip system. I like to deep water the veggies about twice a week in our heat and then the drip system augments that so should be good. Everything seems to be growing well so far.
Did a couple loads of laundry just sheets and towels this morning. Now need to send Henry in to vacuum my bedroom and remake my bed then that room will be done. Will Swiffer the bathrooms and tomorrow will have Henry clean the kitchen and dining area then I can wash that floor. Made a pan of lasagna today, sure was good too. Will cut it up into servings to freeze for later.
Sharon hope all goes well with Buddy and he learns lots of stuff. Emma's vet visit went well yesterday. She now weighs 13lbs even. Got her Bordatella vaccine and dental was excellent so that is good. Just her yearly physical. No blood work needed as she has no issues so Doc said we could wait on that. I really like this vet, she is just down home kinda gal. Started her practice in her home outside of town quite a few years ago. She now owns 2 clinics, one in Canyonville and one in Myrtle Creek. It is still 21 miles for me to go but worth every penny as she is more reasonably priced than some of the others.. Not as good as my vet in Medford as they were super cheap but I needed a vet locally as opposed to 100 miles away. She is interviewing a new grad vet from Virginia next week, she really likes her and hopes she will take the job. They have had a Zoom meeting that went well.

I am off to take a shower and get into some comfy lounging clothes.

And those photos were taken after I had already electrocuted dozens and dozens of the moths. I'd use my electronic swatter and hit them two or three at a time, flush them or wrap them in paper towel and put them in ziplock bags. And then I would turn around and there would be just as many as I had just killed! And this is not what you want to do at 4:00 am!! So, after swatting and swatting and not seeming to make any difference in numbers, I got the Raid out and gave the bathroom a quick spray and then closed the door.

Leaving the campground was the only thing I could do, because I certainly could not go back to bed with moths still flying around inside. Hope I never get another swarm like that.

Speaking of fire and smoke, a lady made a post on our local community FB page this evening, and said her husband was driving down the State highway toward town, when he saw somebody throw a cigarette out the window of another car. He drove past and then looked in his rear view mirror and saw the grass was already smoking, so pulled over and ran back to try to stomp it out. Said it was already in a 10x10 foot area ad growing fast. Fortunately 3 other cars stopped and one had a fire extinguisher, was able to stop it. Fire Dept. arrived and finished it off. Crazy idiot. There’s a gusty strong wind today and a subdivision near there. Could have burned the whole thing out. Luckily there were caring people in the right place at the right time.

We are getting the Quebec smoke too, but nothing like you gals out East. We’ve had blue sky but occasionally the smoke moves in. All due to a low pressure over the eastern seaboard. Doesn’t look like it’s going anyplace anytime soon either. Air quality her is rated moderate. We are on the low side of moderate, but farther north it’s a bit higher. We had overcast skies part of May too, from the Alberta fires, but that was high atmospheric smoke. Couldn’t smell it, but this we can. Looks like it might be a Smokey summer unless the winds shift south.

Good evening!

Shirl, such a disappointing meal, but at least you had good company! Would there be anything wrong with asking the woman upstairs what she was using? Sheila, for some reason your mother telling you to clean up the deck cracked me up last night - think I had a vision of a 90+ telling a 70+ what to do! :) Once a mother, always a mother! Sharon, I hope Buddy settles for you.

Didn't sleep well and had to get up to take Sling in for service. I had thought of walking home, but no sidewalk and very little shoulder on that street so asked son-in-law to chauffeur me. Good thing because street had road construction! While Alan was here, I asked him to help me get boxes to dumpster. Dumpster is so tall I can only lift lid about 2 inches (think you had this experience, Barbie). I did manage a couple loads of laundry, but I was ready for nap this afternoon! I was quite comfortable in the apartment with patio door open until I went out to meet FedEx guy - hadn't realized it was in the 90s!

Just realized I need to go lock and cover the Sling.

I really over slept today ... know that I set the alarm don't remember it going off though but it must have cause there was no notice of missed alarm  so must have heard it and turned it off... what woke me up ??? the phone ringing youngest dd calling to see if I got her text... we nope haven't seen it hadn't heard it either... but it was there she text to see if I wanted to join in in a face time like thing... used to be easier we had the same phone but she had to get an apple I think anyway it takes her having to send me an invite to join her so didn't get to see youngest gs running through the sprinklers... it would have been fun...
so glad she woke me up I wanted to work on getting the flowers planted in the window boxes before it rained.... I did then read scriptures... made chicken salad for lunch since it was almost noon when I got woken up and mom hadn't taken her pill so had time to fix something besides cereal... feel funny serving cereal after noon :o
the deck is still a mess though now I need to go get plants for the planters have some plants for one or two but not sure how I am going to do it... I didn't realize that I'd gotten two 4 pack of silvias they are pink and shorter it looks like so need to decided what to do with them thought when I got them they were a 4 inch pot oh well will figure it out... I might tuck them into my Brazilian Jazman maybe or maybe not I actually was and will put some of them in with the taller silvia and whatever else I get to go with it... I only have about 10 planters if I counted correctly it will be an expensive trip to the nursery...
took the dishes out of the dishwasher and realized that there was still water in the basin of the dish washer so even though not many dishes put suppers in and let it run hopefully there won't be water in the dish washer...
Sharon glad that all is going as well as can be expected with your granddaughter it's got to be horrible for her... here is hoping that the training Buddy is getting will make life easier for you ...
hoping that you will get some idea about your blood pressure Velda
we got a lot of rain today but as far as I know no hail we did get the wind that was predicted..
Anita it sounds like your son in law is like mine will help when ever he can
you all have a good night
sounds like the kitty is progressing
